  1. Not a good match. Scott Steiner in single at this point just doens't know what the hell to do. The Hall promo was again perfect. Gotta love the "Who do you mean "we" ?" from Bischoff. And the fact Hall says "Let's do it in the ring, where it matters". Yep, it was no "shooty-shooty" angle, it was about the wrestling. It was old-school. Just perfect. I get chills watching this stuff back.
  2. Good tag team match with Barbie shining. It's a shame the Faces of Fear were never pushed into the title picture, they were a super team.
  3. Gotta love how they found a way not to give DDP his World title match. I smell Sullivan here.
  4. For Flair in 96, it's a really good match. For Eddie in 96, this is decent. It's obvious Eddie had to tone it down a lot for Flair not to get over his head. Eddie was getting himself over as a sympathetic babyface on his talent alone (unlike Malenko, whom the crowd couldn't care less about, go figure). Flair's promo at the VIP table is always a winner.
  5. The "HHH build and match". Who would want that ?
  6. Vince Russo was all about "working the smarts". It sure did wonder in the long run. I'm amazed that a company would willingly hurt the perception of a guy just to troll its hardcore audience.
  7. JTTS battle royal for a bogus title. Gotta love how Sullivan talks about it in the 96 Timeline : "How went the discussions about that ?" "There was no discussion. -This is what you're going to do-". But really, DDP would get over by himself not because of this match but because his cool finisher would eventually caught up + the nWo recruiting angle which made him a star.
  8. Yeah, Savage vs Flair was really getting super hot at this point, with Savage totally on the edge and Flair trolling him to no end. Fun match with some cool dynamics between the partners/opponent. It's obvious Eddie was getting over already too.
  9. So, Bryan vs HHH. Oh, those Hunter & Stephy promos to come... Well, if Punk leaves (and being booked against Kane in 2014 seems a good enough reason), there's your big nostalgia comeback for WM in 5 years.
  10. Luger had been the last efficient draw of the NWA though, against Ric Flair. He was an established star already. Of course Vince fucked it up by making him a happy choker at SummerSlam.
  11. Hey remember when being put through a table was a BIG SPOT that was sold as lethal ? Luger did a good job with Giant here, much better than Flair or Hogan ever did. I love Flair's VIP table, the whole build toward the Horsemen vs the football players was terrific. They did a really good job building up the Giant in a realistic way now that Hogan was away.
  12. The washing windows video was rather funny and well done.
  13. Well, let's get those Snuka disclaimers ready for the Network already.
  14. Damn, that was a great idea. Mortal Kombat.
  15. I am so bored with Dean Malenko at this point. These kind of match just doesn't do much for me anymore, and I don't think it's that good anyway. It's a sprint with cool looking moves and counters. I though Regal & Sting had a much better match on the same show.

    Current WWE

Wait, so now angles refer to the booking itself ? This is totally Vince Russo-like.

    Royal Rumble 2014

Holy shit. WWF just got their Great American Bash 91. Amazing to watch. Yeah, Punk got to shine early, but was rather quickly forgotten, had a comedy spot with a midget right in the middle of the match and got eliminated Giant Gonzalez style by motherfucking KANE. In 2014. K-A-N-E. No one is over. Ok, Sheamus got a pop, so did Roman Reigns. But outside of these two, no one got any reaction coming in. The quiet music of the Wyatts demonstrated how no one gave a shit about them, they had no heat despite doing a number on Cena earlier. Del Rio is downright embarrassing when he's doing all kind of "intense" faces and body movement trying to get some kind of reaction and getting zilch. They should only bring Kingston once a year, because apparently doing a yearly cute acrobatic spot in the Rumble is the only role he has in the company. Rusef had quite the debut, eliminating... no one. As soon as I heard Mysterio's music, I felt for the guy. They sent him to the slaughter. Gotta admit I got a huge kick out of the entire crowd shitting hard on the 619. Still, that was brutal. So yeah. Orton wins the title. Batista wins the Rumble. What an horrible, dull, straight from the mid/late 00's main event for WM 30. The crowd was hilarious. In the old days, they would have rioted. I feel for anyone who's invested a cent or any emotion on WWE's product. And yeah, the notion of adult Dewey is making me feel old, but his post is quite funny. "My dad made your ass". Post modern wrestling. I love how they are blaming the fucking agent for this debacle.
  18. Especially the very first one when Flair immediately drops to the floor to the outside. Make sthe Giant really look like a monster. But yeah, this was a total squash, and Flair was a total bitch here.
  19. Yes he was.
  20. I guess this was inspired by Goldust vs Piper at Mania. Cool setup, these kind of things were really fresh and unique at the time before the endless list of boring and bad hardcore matches in the late 90's. Not as good as the other matches I agree, and the wide angle kinda hurts the viewing pleasure once again, but it's still one hell of a brawl.
  21. Damn, *that* clothesline from Regal was one of the best I've ever seen. Dusty marking out is always great. Love those little TV matches in-between the PPV's.
  22. More an angle than a match. Flair's work was so by the number at this point, but his character made up for it. Hot coffee had replaced high heels as the ultimate weapon. Cool post-match.
  23. Bischoff was way too obnoxious, World Whining Federation is just a terrible joke.
  24. Piper vs Lawler was a god awful feud and match.
  25. Roddy Piper. Ted DiBiase. Nikolai Volkoff. Meet the New Generation.
