  1. They had a better match a few days before on Saturday Night. Harlem Heat were a rather shitty team, and apart from the great ax kick at the beginning, this is typical plodding and boring HH work. Luger's angle made the segment interesting. Nitro was really stacking up the cards like crazy at this point, I'm surprised Raw won this one.
  2. Match didn't feel any special, just your regular Flair vs Savage TV match with a surprise finish. Hogan vs ONe Man Gang was the main event of the show, which tells it all. Savage is pretty great getting in Hogan's face after the match. Finally ! The whole Woman deal was interesting, at least Heenan referred to her past with Flair. In the 1996 Timeline, Sullivan talked about Hogan wanting Linda to get involved as a valet at this point.
  3. Dying promotions are my kind of stuff. Maybe I should try it. This guy is pretty creepy.
  4. And then Jerome would chime in about SECAM. We had the Minitel well before the Internet was all around, bitches !! Well, of course when the Internet was popular everywhere else, we still had the damn Minitel...
  5. And then Jerome would chime in about SECAM. It was odd how back in the 90s I was able to trade tapes with Australians and Kiwis but not the French until PAL/SECAM VCR's were the norm. When I bought my first tapes in 1998 I already had an NTSC compatible VCR. But I can't seem to convert my tapes onto DVD though, which sucks, although it would take a ridiculous amount of time I wouldn't be ready to spent these days I believe.
  6. This is a fantastic post. 100% spot on with every single point. The same.
  7. The trailer is extremely well done, but Cornette actually comes off much better (as in = not ready to explode) when you watch the whole thing. The TNA & Russo stuff has been heard before on podcast, but the whole ROH story (which constitute the meat of the show) is amazing. Corny is just a great storyteller as usual. Honestly, he seems in a better place now that he's ever been in the last 20 years. For those who fear political and religious rants, there's about 5 minutes of them at the end, and Oliver's reaction to Corny's anti-religious stuff is just hilarious. Really, Corny looks like he as moved on, and the blasts of fury showed in the trailer aren't as bad or out of control as they seem in context. The 1989 Timeline should be awesome.
  8. That's a pretty awesome exchange.
  9. Well, Dave has a point when he says Bryan looks like a mini-Duke Droese (well, he didn't say Duke Droese, but that was the sentiment).
  10. Rather fun Sting vs Flair typical match. Luger is a great character at this point, what a smooth motherfucker. Well, of course, only the dumbest of dumbest babyface could fall for his antics. Hogan is a total whiny bitch in the post-match. Hilariously bad and obnoxious.
  11. DA SLAP ! Excellent promo from Arn, and fun stuff with the old-school guys showing respect to each others. I liked that dynamic between the Horsemen & the Dungeon of Doom.

    Current WWE

Seeing Jake in good shape was cool. And damn, hearing that great music got me all nostalgic and shit. The rest, I dunno, I fast forwarded through pretty much the entire show, since I saw nothing of interest to me. That opening segment just killed any goodwill I had going in.
  13. The one that was dead more than 20 years ago. That Ricky still has to work is infinitely sad. Or pathetic. Or both.
  14. Bischoff ? Ok, ok, I'm leaving the room. But seriously, what would the vision be except "Jeff Jarrett vanity promotion #2" anyway ?
  15. Fuck, Jeff Jarrett leaving TNA and starting his own promotion ! What is this, Japan in 2003 ? Well, if Jarrett does get his own promotion (AGAIN), what are the odds that Vince Russo is being brought back to book it ?
  16. Not as impressive as willingly watch the last two years of WCW, but still pretty damn impressive.
  17. I enjoy Cornette's political rants quite a bit. Of course, sharing the same non-beliefs and progressive views as he does probably makes things easier on my ears, but still, always enjoyed hearing him talk about non-wrestling stuff too.
  18. Hogan brings pretty much nothing to the table, and sells nothing either. This was decent because it got time, Arn & Savage being the standouts, but really, even Heenan was wondering why Flair & Arn didn't work on Savage's injured arm at all. Just lazy storytelling here, it was totally by-the-numbers. Well, at least Giant got some nice heat in the post-match. Zodiac is acting weird. I mean, even weirder. Great, more Ed Leslie storylines.
  19. Yep that was my initial point actually. I have no idea what should be done with Benoit's footage. But let's not be hypocritical when the same company will happily show tons of Jimmy Snuka's matches and ignore the fact he beat up his girlfriend to death then kayfabed his dumb savage gimmick with the help of Vince to get off the hook. And while Steve Austin didn't kill Debra, he sure beat up her ass enough that she got scared to death and had to do something about it. What did the WWF do at the time ? So yeah, this disclaimer business is making me chuckle a bit.
  20. Ah ah ah.
  21. "… and now, for something completely different, we'll show you a compilation of Hall of Famer Jimmy Snuka's matches, because Jimmy Snuka never did anything wrong, ever." Yeah. I wonder if they should put the National Domestic Violence Hotline number when they'll show Austin & Debra together circa early 00's.
  22. Rushed TV match, which isn't a format that suits Hogan well, making his no-selling even more random and annoying. Flair's delayed suplex was quite impressive. Hogan's stupid overselling wasn't. Hogan no selling the brass knuckles was even worse and it made Arn look like a complete dork since he was KOed earlier by Savage using the same object. The nWo turn can't come too soon, Hogan is unbearable.
  23. He said athlete. Not Olympic champion.
  24. Awesome. I love Internet.
