Comments that don't warrant a thread - Part 3

Even if more Bock footage would pop up, it wouldn't happen. Flair was good for the better part of 30 years with evidence to prove it(Yes, I know some people didn't like most of his WWE run, but I did), and would probably have Bock beat on the face side of things too. -
I also like Shin Kiba 1st Ring. I'll take it over the Dome, Korakuen and FACE. Just a great small arena that really feels like the heart of wrestling.

Kanagawa Kawasaki Shi Taiikukaikan This venue is great. It's big and wide and it has the feel of a Roman coliseum. It's also usually really hot crowd wise.

I really liked the show. It's probably the best WWE can do these days. I reviewed it here: http://prowresblog.blogspot.com/2012/07/ra...ow-7232012.html

I loved the mother and son appearance. That was great.

They were supposed to be Vince's Road Warriors(even the Observer said so) but eventually the Roadies became Demolition rip offs. The PoP's ended up becoming Vince's Road Warriors(again, the Observer). The Demo's were definitely supposed to be heel but the PoP's didn't get over and the Demos did. If you take out the PoP's feud, Demolition could have had a really different career.

Ax and Smash were in really good shape in 1988.

I haven't seen enough men's stuff but for women it's probably going to be Kana, Yuhi or Yuzuki Aikawa. Maybe I'd vote for Dolph for the men's with the limited amount I've seen. -
These are great. I always wanted to scan some of my stuff but I don't have the right equipment or time. In particular, I would LOVE to scan my old japanese wrestling programs. There's so many amazing pictures in there.

Here's the Demolition DVDVR thread: http://board.deathvalleydriver.com/index.php?showtopic=51663

JCP has way too many titles, especially with the odd national title or western stages heritage title defense. Everyone felt like they had a title. It was good for when you brought new people in who needed a hook, but bad otherwise.

Just put different statistics for wrestlers who had different numbers of matches. Do the best wrestlers with 50 minimum matches, 25 minimum matches and 5 minimum matches and you are covered.

As I said, they could work almost every role and fit in with any opponent they had. They went from people like the Rockers to The Colossal Connection and had something for everyone. You could put them at face or heel and it was going to work in every situation. The Demos really didn't have many gimmick matches besides some handicap matches and a cage match in 1991. Then again, no tag team in the WWF did at that time. Blame the booking for that one.. I'd have been up for a Demo's street fight or cage match though. The Demo's did do some main events and were put in a Survivor Series main event. The Demos didn't get a chance to go outside of the WWF but that's because they were a WWF creation obviously and they were happy there since they were the top team on a worldwide stage. Honestly, a move for them wouldn't have made any sense. That would be a silly thing to blame the Demos for. They took on tons of teams though from other companies like the PoP's, the Rockers, The Bulldogs, The Brainbusters, The Roadies(in 6-man's) plus the Tenryu/Kitao match which was different. As I've been saying the whole time, they excelled at working matches where the teams styles changed. Just take a look at the list above. Going from the Brainbusters to the Rockers to Andre and Haku is changing styles. I can't see a situation where the Demo's wouldn't work. Put them in the NWA and you'd get the dream Roadies/Demos feud, you'd get a really interesting match with Doom, you'd get them doing really great stuff with the RnR's(them being on Ricky Morton would be fun) and you'd even get an interesting Russians vs Demos match. Put them in the AWA and you'd get the High Flyers/Demos, a strong Destruction Crew vs Demos match and a surely fun Badd Company vs Demos match. Move them down to WCCW and you'd get a fun series with the Von Erichs, a good Fantastics match and they'd probably even make a Freebirds/Demolition match work. I think Terry Gordy would work great against them. Going to memphis and you'd get a seriously awesome Moondogs/Demo's match which would have the extra flavor of Demolitions colliding, you'd get a darn good Fabs/Demos match, you would get an amazing Sheepherders/Demos brawl and a Lawler/Dundee vs Demos match would be choice. Now, I think the Demo's missed out by not going to Memphis. In Continental, you'd get some fun Armstrong vs Demos matches, the Stud Stable(come on Buck and Fuller against the Demo's? Sign me up!) and the Nightmares which would have been an interesting face paint battle. Seriously, put these guys anywhere and it would work.

Reminds me of middle school when I tried intramural wrestling and I tried to hook my opponent's leg in a pinning situation. He was like "What the hell are you doing, pervert?" Also got yelled at for trying to do a snap suplex (failed miserably due to my opponent sandbagging justifiably so). We had suplex practice once at wrestling(true story) and I did some Scott Steiner style belly to belly's onto a wrestling dummy. The ones where he would take a step back and then swing the guy to the ground(like this -http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=n-Dt1oA5Td4). Naturally, the coaches were telling me I'm doing it wrong. Of course, they didn't tell us how to do it right, so I was trusting in Professor Steiner. Thank God I didn't know who Taz was at that time. -
For the project, the Rockers match is nominated. May or may not make the set but not a lock. I didn't care for the MSG match so someone else will have to push it through. Need to rewatch the SS 88 match. At this point, what you and I consider great are on polar opposites so we may never remedy the situation. I found it laughable that someone thinks they are on equal footing with RNR and the MX much less every single team you listed. That just boggles my mind. I may have to lock this thread because we have reached a point where nothing productive can happen from this point forward (except the Loss super post if he chooses to do one). I see no reason to lock the thread. I totally welcome more challengers and I think Vic would too. I think Vic has done a good job. I'd rather watch the Demos than the RnR's or the Condrey/Eaton MX. Again, it's the versatility that the Demos would have the big advantage on.

Count me in for the Demos vs HF at SS88. I loved that match and I enjoyed the finish.

I don't see anything wrong with putting Demolition in that list. I don't know about Footloose. I'm not an MX fan unless its Stan/Bobby or the OMX and I think Demolition are way way better than the SST. No shame in falling short of The Rockers and The Brainbusters, but Demolition fit right in with them in their matches and beats them on versatility. Loved the Demolition vs Rockers matches. Demolition seemed to be able to work with just about anyone and have a decent match. They also worked fine as either faces or heels which is something they are going to have on a ton of teams, since alot of the teams above didn't switch roles. You could put the Demos against Big men, you could put them against small men, you could do the powerhouse matchups, you could have the Demos be faces or you could have the Demos be heels and they excelled. You can't do that with all of those teams and make it work so well. Really, I don't know if there is any other team that could be in all of those roles and make it believeable. I'm totally not a Hart Foundation fan though. That's one team I never got. I'm just going to say though that personal preferences towards wrestlers affects finding good things from the wrestlers. It's natural and unavoidable no matter how impartial you may think you are. It just helps to like a wrestler when finding their good matches. It makes you look at everything in a different light. I may not be able to convince you that the Demo's were great but you aren't going to convince me that Tiger Mask was as he was made out to be.

I don't know what's not to like about Megumi Kudo. She wasn't up to par with 80% of the girls of her time until her last two years. She wasn't even the best women's wrestler in FMW until Combat retired. Watch any of the big AJW cards and it's pretty obvious where she stands in comparison. Take her looks away and she's got nothing until the last two years.

I don't know what's not to like about the Demos. They were a big clubbering tag team with cool face paint and cool music. They were very believeable, versatile and always put in a good performance. Smash even had some charisma to him. I think the people that don't like them are doing so just to be smarky. They are an incredibly underappreciated tag team and they are the realest underrated team I've ever seen. I totally agree that if you are looking for classics, you are missing the whole point of Demolition. They had many good matches, but they didn't work the 5 star style or the typical tag team style. I hated the way they went out. They were the WWF tag team and they are practically forgotten and jobbed out. Whatever happened in the lawsuit must have been bad as WWE seems to have them on the Randy Savage list of people they won't bring back.

It's a pain in the butt to do anything with Japanese people and Japan. No offense to them but it takes a ton of effort and it ends up not being worth it. All of the complicated policies, rules and personalities make things hard. I got tired of dealing with it. I tried to set up just normal things like hanging out and it was equivalent to a court case.

There's atleast one big japanese internet message board that I go on sometimes. But even with translators, it's really hard to get anything worthwhile out of it. Some have already been found, but I know there has to be more japanese traders out there. The day they are found is going to be heaven. We've already seen pieces of it with some of DGinetty's hookups and it's only going to get better. With japan's otaku culture, there's gotta be people out there with insane collections. Only bad thing is that alot of japanese people prefer using their phones instead of computers(if they have one) so it's going to be a bit limited. With iphones becoming alot more common in Japan, I don't think that's going to improve. There's some mexican smart fan boards like boxylucha and others. Again though, even with translators, it's tough to get an idea of what's being said. I mainly just use it for the cool retro lucha pics. I always say that japanese fans support one promotion or a handful of wrestlers only and it's really the case. There's few people who go to many different shows. I know 2 or 3 people who do, but they often get free tickets to these other companies shows. The reason japanese people are this way is because it's really expensive to go to wrestling and no one seems to have the time to go anyway. The japanese lifestyle really takes most of your free time away with working on saturdays, working too much overtime and relying on time consuming trains and walking to get you everywhere. It's so easy to run out of time in Japan. Alot of japanese fans asked me about WWE when I went there. Only bad thing is that I cannot understand Japanese well, so to make up for it, I control conversations with my limited japanese and didn't get to hear much about their thoughts.

Miracle Violence Combination vs Stan Hansen and Joel Deaton Doc and Gordy, Doc and Gordy, Doc and Gordy, Doc and....Sorry, Perry Saturn moment there. Great opening here. MVC rushes their opponents from the start and it begins with chaos. Great! Gordy and Doc owned for the first part of this then Hansen made a killer comeback. MVC were so good in this with their aggresive attacks. Deaton and Hansen were both really good too. Gordy wins with the powerbomb. You want all of this. Rating: ****1/4 I think is from 6/3/1993 AJPW but it may be the month after.

I really like this tag. Kikuchi again showed why he was the man. The crowd was hot for this too.
