  1. These two were so wasted in WWF. Shit, it was the time of blood and gimmick matches, they could have done so much with Los Boricuas. Give them a hot latino valet to help them get some attention, put them into feuds with valuable players, book garbage matches with bucket of bloods on PPVs. This thread seriously gives me the urge to watch that batch of WWC I have on some DVDs. Once I get done with my own WCW cross to bear. Miguel Perez was really awesome. One of the most wasted workers of all time. He totally could compete with the crusierweights of WCW for highflying as well.
  2. Ah hey what do you know, the pictures I posted are of that Loser Leaves Town match with Ayala.
  3. Carlos Colon from this week's WWC Clasico which was the Colon/Ayala LLT match.
  4. Kane's in his best run ever now, but aside from the Big Show chain wrestling match, Kane's been having the exact same match for the last 15 years.
  5. Honky was pretty good as a heel. He seemed to be one of the slimiest guys in the WWF and you knew anyone could beat him, but he'd find a way to slip out of it. Plus the whole guitar shot on Macho Man was really well done and was a highlight moment for him. That at the worst was anything better than HHH did as a heel. Honky's Memphis run was also really good.
  6. As a dumb 10-year old, I had always assumed that whoever he said it to would get beaten so badly that he could bully the person into cooking for him. Then I found out the meaning.
  7. Bob is a master at promos. He is just like the perfect southern babyface from what I've seen.
  8. I reviewed the Royal Rumble with pics/gifs/quotes here: http://prowresblog.blogspot.com/2013/01/ww...and-review.html Overall thoughts: Good show with everything being decent.
  9. WWC is posted weekly online if anyone is interested.
  10. I previewed and predicted the whole show here: http://prowresblog.blogspot.com/2013/01/20...redictions.html I pretty much wrote about every possible contender, but for the sake of discussion and because I'm excited, here's more thoughts: Before I start, so much of the show depends on where the Royal Rumble is on the card and who wins Rock/Punk. Both of those things would change my picks completely. John Cena - At the moment, he is the favorite. Rock/Cena 2 seems very likely and this would be the perfect oppurtunity to get us there. Rock will be at the Elimination Chamber though, so that could totally throw a stick in my prediction wheel. Still, I can't see any reason for Cena not winning it and he's probably pushed winning it the most out of everyone. Sheamus - Sheamus is my number 2 pick from what we know at the moment. He's arguably the 3rd biggest face in the WWE behind The Rock and John Cena. His schedule is really clear right now since the Orton/Sheamus feud seems to be stopping before it has begun. The big reasons he is a favorite is because we know he will be in a big match at Wrestlemania, but we have no idea where at this point. Winning the Rumble would make him a back to back winner and would give him some direction. Ryback - Due to The Shield, I'm not picking Ryback. It would be a good win for him, but I think he has too much going on right now to pick him. Dolph Ziggler - I think he has almost no chance of winning it. He could win it, but I don't see it happening. I think he's going to be in the Wrestlemania plans, but I also think he may be cashing it in after the Last Man Standing match as it would be good timing. Randy Orton - Orton is alot like Sheamus in having no real direction right now. He does have something going on with The Shield, but that's about it. I can't see him in a big money match at Mania, so I can't pick him. He's just too far down the ladder right now. Undertaker - If he is indeed in it, he definitely will be a favorite. Like Cena, his fate in my eyes depends alot on what happens in the Punk match. It's also worth pointing out that there are going to be around 13-14 guys that aren't listed in the match yet, so there should be alot of surprises and it makes the winner a lot harder to pick.
  11. The thing with New Japan is that people are mostly talking about it because Meltzer talks about it. Take out his NJPW iPPV reviews and I guarantee there is a lot less interest in NJPW. It's similar to AAA and AJW in the 1990's.
  12. Yeah, Buddy owned the GWF. Easily his best stuff.
  13. They worked a 6-man in Continental with Danny Davis as The Midnight Rock n Rollers against "Golden Boy" Mike Golden and The Sheepherders.
  14. I was 12 and thought RVD was good. Also happened to watch an Eliminators comp around the same time(bought all of these off some RF booth at an indy show) and haven't watched them since either.
  15. No Lynn for me. I watched a comp of the best of RVD once and never wanted to see either guy again. Then he became ROH champ and I happened to be at one of those shows. Ick.
  16. Re-read the Demolition thread. As I said in there, there is no other team that was so well-rounded and could make any situation work like Demolition could. Demolition's WWF run was better than the Brainbuster's WWF run.
  17. Not gonna be tricked into talking about State Patrol, you might trick me into pointing out that Doom stated in 80s, or that HF never had a 80s match as great as Reed/Neidhart. But not going to trick me into talking about State Patrol. Still Luger/Tully!!! State Patrol weren't very special, though I did enjoy Parker giving out citations to people during matches. Demolition and The Rockers would probably be my #1 and #2 WWF Tag Teams during the 1980's.
  18. I get the feeling that alot of people had GLOW back in the day, maybe more than alot of other promotions. I know Atlanta would have gotten the most at one point when Pedicino was doing all day saturday blocks of wrestling. There's a commercial for it either on youtube or on the PWTW dvd's. I also remember hearing that one town in Texas had over 27 hours of wrestling on television a week.
  19. I see another Demolition discussion coming along...
  20. If the Shield attacks, the camera's must start to shake violently. Anytime a big move is hit, the camera's must change shots, usually causing the viewer to miss the move completely. Anytime someone dives out onto the outside halfway through the match, it is commercial time. The Rock is the only person allowed to swear on TV without repercussions.
  21. Yeah, too many sites went down and lost everything. It's really sad as there were some choice discussions and things to learn.
  22. Kendo Ka Shin vs Ryan Gracie is a must add to the Puroresu vs MMA list. It may have been the first real win by a pro wrestler even though Kendo won it due to an injury.
  23. Joshi is all males, mostly mid-20's-50's. I've seen a couple of pre-teen girls there but usually they are with their family. It makes sense though because there is no way teenage girls would ever know about the shows unless they had Samurai TV or specifically searched them out.
  24. I've been to alot of shows in Japan and the female audience seems to rise by the year. There were equal amounts of men and women at the non-joshi shows I've been to and the women beat the men on some shows like DDT and Dragon Gate. I'd love to know how some of these girls found and got into wrestling. I swear I was living the dream when I had TWO good looking girls talking to me about Toryumon 2000 storylines at a DG event in July. Rossy Ogawa has done a great job with Stardom. I posted a long time ago about how to make a successful joshi promotion and he pretty much followed it. I feel bad for him though that his #1 and #2 are gone.
  25. I wrote a big long post about how dumb it was to have Cena beat Brock. Brock beating Cena was where the money was at. They could have made it a year long program easy and could have squeezed 3-4 PPV matches out of it with no trouble. Cena could have got a rematch and lost, making him 0-2. Then, Brock would make him put up something to get another match. I don't know what it would be since Cena left the WWE for less than 24 hour total last time but there's always something. However, Cena could have won that match to end the feud or they could have had him come back after the stipulation as a reborn Cena and finally have him take down Brock. WWE would never do any of this, but that was my idea going in and coming out of it.
