What If Vince Ran With Slaughter Instead Of Hogan

Also, Lashley held world titles as well as Henry, who just had a reign. WWE/WWECW/WWE World, doesn't matter. I think there's been a reasonable amount of black people who have held the title personally. Don't know who else you want really. Ahmed Johnson? Shelton Benjamin? Mabel? Look at how many asian people have held the world title. Big fat 0 there. Let's not even go into White minorities or other minorities who haven't held titles in a while. -
I liked Suburban Commando and No Holds Barred. I'd love to see NHB 2: Zeus's Revenge starring John Cena as Rip's son or something.

I forgot about the greatest manager of all-time, Guapito. No one is cooler than Guapito. -

Yes, people watch SD with RAW thinking in mind, but that's what WWE wants. Sheamus has really been doing nothing for a while plus he's been on the "B" show. Sheamus's win comes across to me as nothing other than to swerve the people who thought Jericho would win, which was quite a lot of people. -
What's the Sting/Slater story about?

You'll find guys taller but not as big all around. Same thing with Andre, it was not just being tall, it was he was giant in proportion. But Andre was also around in the 70's and 80's where you didn't see guys as tall so often. Wilt and Kareem. As I said... I'll also spot you Big John Harris and Raja Lion, and that's from being a hardcore wrestling fan, so my point stands. P.S., Wilt retired in '73.

Big Show definitely would've been better off in the territorial days, where he could've traveled from place to place and not become stale. It's very difficult for a wrestler like him in this era. The other thing is that his size is really not special anymore. Not like you couldn't find tons of guys in the NBA that big and he's not even the tallest guy in the company.

I also forgot George Cannon and Dr Jerry Graham Jr. Graham had a try out with WWF but it didn't work out. -

There are people who like Jimmy Hart and people who don't, same with Gary Hart. What about the old WWWF's "Triumvirate of Terror" (Blassie, Albano, Grand Wizard)? How do they rate? - I liked the trio and thought they were great but Blassie's schtick just never really appealed to me like the other two. I thought he was pretty funny especially with Volkoff and the Sheik. Do you rate Vince and Shane as "managers", or Bischoff? - I don't rank them as such. Shane kind of was for a little if I remember, but even in kayfabe, they weren't managers. Was Meltzer right to rag on Mr. Fuji for all those years? - Fuji was pretty over. I don't think he provided alot for the guys he managed aside from one good promo with Haku/Barbarian though. Fuji's schtick mostly involves him. The cane was memorable and I always bought into him as being sneaky as a kid. What about Slick? - Slick cut some pretty good promo's, but he never really stuck out. Much like Akeem, he was more of a comedian than anything. Do we count women and if so is Sherri top 10, or Liz for that matter? - Sherri should be top 10 and Liz would make a pretty good case for it, though she drifts more into valet territory. What about manager runs people seldom talk about? Race in WCW, - I really liked Race's run in WCW, but he was always overshadowed by the guys he managed. I did enjoy the usual bump or two he'd take. Perfect as Flair's "Executive Consultant" in 92 - He really got beat by Heenan on this one. Teddy Long as manager of Doom - Teddy and Doom were alot of fun. Teddy had some pretty funny lines and played his role really well. HOMIE DONT PLAY DAT. Loved the doo-rags and the one segment he had where he was playing around on Ric Flair's yacht. He really fell though in later years as a manager. He didn't look like Teddy and he certainly didn't act like Teddy used to. On a side note, Doom shouldn't have broken up. Bruce Pritchard as Brother Love, - There is no one I find more annoying than Brother Love. Instant channel changer. Lanny Poffo as The Genius - He did pretty good but it's still Lanny Poffo and I can't take him seriously. Harvey Wippleman - I never got into him. He seemed like a really strange fit with Sid and with the WWF period. I don't see the appeal. Paul E. Dangerously in WCW - Top 10 for sure. Owned it in Memphis, WCW and WWE. Paul Ellering in general - Definitely not a top 10 for me. He was always just there to me. Also, add Ox Baker somewhere near my list. I could listen to the Ox talk all day. He was the best thing AWA had before they closed. -

I'll put more time into this later but my list would have these guys in it: Heenan Hart Richard Lee - He was so much fun as the Moondogs manager and no one ever talks about him. He sang, he wrestled and he always wore cool neon stuff with a suit. The most underrated manager ever. Ron Fuller - I've seen some discs of him managing the Stud Stable in Southeastern and he was great. He was such a jerk and played Colonel Rob Parker 10 years before his brother did. He also wore the biggest hat I have ever seen. Grand Wizard - Him and Superstar are the greatest combination ever. The definition of cool. Eddie Creatchman - I really like some of the stuff I've seen with him. He comes across as the biggest piece of sludge you have ever seen. He had a real heel voice too. Jim Cornette Paul E - So underrated as a manager. He should have been the manager of the 1990's. Lord Alfred Hayes - His feud with Heenan in the AWA was great stuff. He was really good in his role and I wish he would have done it in the WWF. Captain Lou I'd love to put Sherri in it too. Oh and a tip of the hat for Lord Littlebrook when he managed the Royal Kangaroos in WCW. Him dressed up in a suit managing those two was hilarious. I do like Scott Bowden too. -
I don't think he'd get in, but Robert Fuller may be the better pick over Ron Fuller. They both did well in Georgia, Southeastern and Memphis(Robert also in SMW and an okay run as a manager in WCW). Robert had more longetivity but Ron took care of more of the behind the scenes stuff and was a better manager(one of the most underrated managers ever). It's too bad that both of them were heads of Southeastern or else they may have had a shot at the WWF or NWA(86-on). I think Vince would have loved to have had either one of those guys. Off topic here, but are there any Von Erich vs Stud Stable match-ups? That might have been a fun family feud.
-
I'm behind here as I didn't notice this thread but alot of guys came around in the summer of 90 and 1991 due to the AWA closing. Hughes and Nightstalker came from there as did Madusa. It's too bad that you don't have full ppv versions of some of the shows. There's alot of stuff to miss out on those especially in 1991.
-
I never even once read that and I was on alot of boards at that time. You are always going to have a few fans like that though, and that goes for anything. Still doesn't change the fact that Holly was a huge douche and he ended up paying for it with Brock.

I regret missing the ECW ppv held in Pittsburgh. I think it was november to remember. I was about 10 and I thought if my mom took me to this, I'd never be allowed to watch wrestling again. I've been to WWECW and Viking Hall, but never made it to an ECW event. Also, there was a local indy that had Milano Collection AT at one of their shows. I really wanted to go but the car was broken, so no dice. I also regret not being born about 10 years or so sooner. By the time I made it to Japan, japan's wrestling peak was long gone. I probably would have been like my friend and would have caught over 100 shows a year back in the 90's. I also regret WCW being out of buisness before I was old enough to drive. I totally would have gone to tons of those cards with the foreign wrestlers.

You should rewatch Tough Enough if you think Holly's bullying is out of proportion.

I'd imagine it's more of a fluff piece for GLOW. That's really the only way you'd want to do it with GLOW. I liked GLOW actually. The matches usually sucked but the people got into their characters and they stuck to kayfabe. I think all wrestlers should have a rap song to help the fan understand what they are all about. -
Waldo was one of Bruno's top rivals here in Pittsburgh along with Bill Miller. Pampero was one of the Sheik's draws/mainstays in Detroit. I think Duke may have been a name in Hawaii also. He really comes across as someone who was big in Texas from what I've read. I would not have Show in there by any means. Like alot of guys that will be coming through, he will have the WWE benefit of them not being able to come up with new stars and needing to use the same older guys forever. His in ring work has gotten better over the years, but I'd put him below both Kane and Edge and I don't think either is a good choice.
-
I've been saying this for a long time. He was involved in some pretty good matches and his fast pace style was fun. Even though his promo's take alot of thinking about to get, you have to atleast give him a thumbs up for the delivery of them. Warrior's push after WM 6 really hurt him. The WWF never put him as the top attraction over Hogan and Rick Rude was not a strong enough opponent. I would be curious to see how things would have went if Warrior and Hogan switched places. I don't think Hogan could have pulled great numbers out of Rude either. The one name who really needs to be in here is Maki Ueda. Jackie was the star of the Beauty Pair, but they were a team, and Maki deserves in as much as Jackie does.

Has there ever been a positive word said about the announcing of Duke Doherty? That of Superstar Billy Graham? That of Larry Zbyszko or Rob Bartlett? Are there people today who claim that Sid or Giant Gonzalez was really underrated? Looking back at stuff you first saw a while ago doesn't mean that you're flip-flopping your opinion on it. Plenty of times it results in saying, "Oh, yeah, now I remember why I hated that." Hate to be the one to do this and I swear I'm not trolling here but: - I don't mind Superstar as an announcer. He shows some energy and I think he brings out the face's feelings/thoughts well. He can be an addition when he is into a match or a wrestler. Should he be doing big shows? No. But he'd be perfect as a third man in the booth. - I think Sid was fine. His peak was surely in the WWF with the fistbumps. I thought he played his role well over the years. He always came across as someone you didn't want to mess with and his moves worked for him. A good example of this is his RR match with HBK. I thought this was maybe Sid's best match. He may have stuck to the giant style of wrestling too much though. Also, any announcer in any sport is told to commentate off what they see on the tv only. Count me in on those who do not see pointing out a mistake as bashing a guy, although it makes much more sense to do it when it's a heel who screwed up than a face. Gorilla usually mentioned it when it was a heel doing it. He also said it in a way that was more advising than this guy is an idiot. He's very different from Cole. Cole points out things that have nothing to do with the match and is more bashing a guy than giving advice. I would probably put Cole as maybe the worst announcer of all time. People like Crusher really really sucked and were inaudible, but atleast they didn't trash guys.

Who from the 70s and 80 would have got world title runs ...
rzombie1988 replied to JerryvonKramer's topic in Pro Wrestling
We'd be living in Graham era right now. Vince would crap his pants twice over to get someone with even half the interview skills and charisma of Graham. Mil would surely be a big star as well. -
You should do the questions list that I've seen posted to see if he's a candidate or not. I think Robert did one for Atlantis on luchawiki, so you could check there. Here it is: http://www.luchawiki.com/index.php?title=A...er_Hall_of_Fame

Heinemi is not Axe, it's Lars Anderson.

I always thought Chavo underacheived and dropped the ball when he was finally given the chance. Once in a while he'd give a good performance that would give you hope, but then he'd get lazy.
