Yeah, that's from 8/23/1998. I had it at about 4.5 stars. I really loved that and it made me realize the greatness of Shinobu Kandori. I've seen alot of people say she should retire.

Hold on, Kudo before Toyota? Are you kidding me? Watch the matches they were in together and you'll see how she wasn't even close to her league until near her retirement. Don't even get me started on Takako or Leilani Kai over her, especially Takako. Toyota had nothing to do with joshi crashing. It started when AJW lost free TV and continued with more men watching than women which caused less new girls. Add the Matsunaga's losing all their money(which really was the main reason), then everyone forming their own promotion, and there were a mess of problems. Toyota helped Zenjo stay around longer by staying true to them when they should have crashed sooner. Another thing that hurt AJW was all of the interpromotional stuff from the peak years, IMO. Where do you go after that? Toyota also started to go down as her weight when up. I saw this comment on youtube before but it's really true. Toyota never really changed or adapted, but overtime did get rid of the stuff she can't do anymore. It just took her longer than others. I just saw her live last week and she is still going strong. She's held up alot better than some. She also benefits from being taller as the average height in joshi has totally dipped. Toyota is definitely one of the top joshi workers of all time. The great tags with Yamada vs Kansai/Ozaki, and all the singles matches: vs Kandori, vs Kyoko, vs Yamada, vs Hokuto, vs Kong(x2), vs Yoshida, etc. It's going to be tough to find others who have had as many good matches as her, yet alone others who were involved in 3 of the top tag matches of all time. If you want the hold for hold or slow style though you got the wrong girl. What to love about Toyota? What's not to love about Toyota? Good looking girl involved in some of the best matches ever who was very agile at one point in time. You guys also have to understand that people like Toyota don't really have any option other than to keep wrestling. What else is she going to do? She's been at this since she was like 16 or 18. WWWA champion won't get you far on a resume. Nobody watches joshi anymore except for about 25 of us. Joshi went down with Men's wrestling and is further going down everyday. 2011 is scheduled to be the worst year for joshi since before AJW. Ice Ribbon has taken over and their influence has spread to LLPW and STARDOM who will continue to produce underage girls and awful matches. It would be great if there was something to discuss, but their honestly isn't. The people who want to discuss it end up being turned off from doing so by a few certain idiots on joshifans.

I think the WO guys just watch what they need to watch these days only. Part of it is because it's their job and I think another part of it is that they are a little less interested due to constantly watching current mainstream stuff that isn't so great as well as more interest in MMA. If I watched SD, RAW, TNA and NXT each week in full, I'd want to kill myself. The last thing they probably want to do is watch more wrestling after that. Lately, I think the quality of their wrestling discussions have gone down, especially on the B&V show where they seem really bored lately.

And if you thought TNA was confusing: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/NFL_on_television

They need to do something before Edge starts getting go away heat. I never really saw Christian as a main eventer until the 2004/2005 almost-feud with Cena. I didn't start really buying Edge as one until briefly in the 02-03 time period and then until he started doing the Rated R Superstar gimmick.

And thank God for that. I could never understand why there were any black wrestling fans in the 80s and 90s since black people were invariably portrayed as jobbers, Angry Black Men, or as dancing happy-go-lucky babyfaces. And that's without even mentioning the Memphis territory... There were alot of black memphis fans in the 80's and 90's. Watch the shows, you can see.

I think it's a good move by UFC. It gives them some more titles to promote and will help fill out cards with more interesting matches. Only problem is that now, if they aren't already, they are getting close to boxing by having too many titles.

I have no idea as to what Ben was talking about in his article.
-
I find Memphis wrestling to be rather realistic myself. Sure they had some wacky characters(and WWF or any other federation hasn't?), but I can believe in what they are doing 100 times easier than any episode of raw. I love memphis wrestling.

I don't blame Austin, I blame it on the GM thing period. Let's just say I found it overdone and overexposed then...and here we are 7 years later.

Vince is too smart to admit to stealing others ideas.
-
Oh I know, but it's still odd. It's better that it didn't happen anyway as Landell would have looked 3rd rate by the end of it.

You have to admit that having two Nature Boys was kind of strange.

I think the Shawn/JBL feud was praised fairly well at the time, though a lot of that was just how different it was from everything else WWE was doing. No one "bought" it, but people looked forward to see where it was going. It was a total bomb. It was a good idea on paper, but they shouldn't have chose HBK for it. Had they chose any of the midcarders it might have worked.

I rode a bus with a maskless Ultimo Guerrero this year. Let's just say he does not look like a ladies man.

Dixie's youshoot sucked. It can be summed up as there are no problems in TNA and no one is to blame for anything. Sure she answered many questions, but the answers were all the "smart" answers(She also didn't fully answer the question about why Russo has a job). Dixie comes off as a clueless mark and sees no wrong in Eric/Hogan/Russo/Hall/Nash or anyone else. Also, she said that this was the year AJ Styles and Joe finally stepped up to the next level. WRONG. Alvarez's rant felt spot on by the end of this shoot.
-
What did she say about Alvarez's rant?

I'm all for more Jerry on my tv. He looked great.

Alot of people just don't like John Cena. Some of the heels didn't help that, but there is still a big backlash against him. I've been to WWE live shows all across the country and Cena always gets the loudest boos and cheers. Especially at shows like Wrestlemania, chants of "Cena Sucks" start before people even get into the building.

I think Heenan could have done better in Memphis than Hart could have done in the AWA. Although I really would have enjoyed Hart ripping on Greg Gagne.
-
Bobby couldn't bump like that by 1990-1991. He had too many problems with his neck by then.

The best thing about Slick is the stuff he shouts from outside the ring. I think Fuji was a lot more effective than he got credit for. He was Worst Manager of the Year for many years straight in WON. I really ought to put together a list of 90-91 WWF matches I think people should see at some point. Fuji was really good for the cane but thats about it. His promo's weren't really anything to speak of and in kayfabe terms he may have been the stupidest manager ever upon getting rid of Demolition. His in-ring was what it was and I think he did his job better than expected. I'd put him below Heenan, below Hart, below Sherri, below Elizabeth, maybe tied with Paul Bearer, a little above the Genius, above Slick(Not that it's saying much) above Coach and above Sapphire. Also to respond to Loss, I don't feel that Rude's WWF career was his best stuff. I enjoyed his WCW and Memphis stuff alot more. I could never buy him as anyone serious in the WWF.
-
It's pretty hard to call Sherri the best worker when she had less than 5 matches during that time frame...
-
I bet WWE feels really stupid for getting rid of Danielson now. He's probably having a good laugh at this.
