He had no chance in hell. There's no need to put the title on that kind of gimmick anyway. I know Goldust is popular around these parts, but you have to be realistic.

Cena's big match problem is the same as every other wrestlers in the company. Every big match has been done on RAW for FREE and for what? .1's. Re: Monsters - They don't have to be steroided up. Bundy, Andre, Kamala, Earthquake and a whole host of others were monsters that probably never touched a steroid their whole time there.

Miz is a 4th rate Brian Christopher at best. Brian gets go away heat from me week after week though as he's just too much and too obnoxious.
-
Well I was there when he did it and I can tell you that by the next time WWE had came to my town, it was a completely different show. Some of the guys were doing the indy stuff better than indy guys could, but after that, it was never the same.

To me, WWE's style changed right after Kidman botched the Shooting Star Press on Chavo.

[1996-03-31-AJW-Wrestling Queendom] Manami Toyota vs Kyoko Inoue
rzombie1988 replied to Loss's topic in March 1996
Without having seen the match, I'm going to guess that it was to mimic Kyoko's dancing. -
If you wouldn't want to see him for a few more mintues, then his worth to you is not much.
-
It would have been more worth it if he was in there for 10 minutes then right?

I didn't like it. Here's why: - JoMo getting eliminated quickly after creating the greatest spot in Rumble history. He should have been there until the end. - The whole stupid Nexus thing at the beginning. This is one of the few chances where both groups could fight legally and they don't even use it. The ring should have been a Nexus/Corre battlefield after some entries. - Punk getting eliminated early along with Nexus falling to Super Cena. They owned the first half of the Rumble, and Cena disposes of them in seconds. Better yet was the commentators failing to really push Mason Ryan, along with WWE who decided that he should be eliminated quickly as well. - All the jobbers. Tyler Reks can't even make the Superstars show most weeks and yet I'm paying money to see him. - Big Lazy Kevin Rash. Sorry, he's an asshole, a detriment to wrestling, he can't walk 10 steps without breaking something and he just flat out sucks. I finally thought he was off my tv for good. Had the Rumble been booked better, no one would have cared. - Booker, who you know was not cheap to get for this, doing a whole 3 minutes work. I really hope that was worth the $3,000+ for him. - All the quick eliminations. This is one of the few chances where you can have 1000 people in the ring at one time, and I don't even think they hit double digits once. The Rumble was entertaining at points, but none of the entertaining points are going to lead to any money being made aside from ADR. If this was on free tv, I'd probably give it an okay, but whoever booked this had no idea what they were doing. The best way to explain it is that this Rumble has no replayability. None of this stuff would be as good the second time around. Overall, it's at the very least tied for the worst Rumble of all time along with last years. The RR has really lost my faith and I think it's gone too far down the tube to turn back. For the rest of the show: Screw the commentary team. Within 1 minute into the show they started fighting and trying to get themselves over. It comes across as so unprofessional and ridiculuous. This is coming from someone who's commentated before. Ziggy and Edge was good and much better than I expected, but I could do without seeing Vickie's fat ass ever again and without hearing how hot she is from Striker. It makes me want to turn the tv off everytime I hear that. I thought Orton/Miz was incredibly slow and boring. And Eve winning the title was a total WTF moment. I'm not sure how being the worst back-up dancer in the world gets you a title shot, but whatever.

I'm not excited. Nash sucks and I enjoyed not seeing him on tv. He has nothing to offer and I can't believe that WWE would rehire him.

JD in the days before it got taken over by the wave of pretty idol girls always got over shadowed by there just being way way too much other stuff out thear. I'll get in the mood now & then for something diffrent and buy a show of theirs and most of the time I really enjoy them but with so much AJW, JWP, GAEA & ARSION among others out thear that I still haven't seen it just always ends up taking a back seat. Yeah, Jd' was the great little promotion that could, but no one ever watched for the reasons you mention. It's too bad, there was a lot of good, different stuff there. It got ruined by the act?s?s concept. The most famous of which ended up doing porn videos. Hurrah Jd'. Jd's athress concept brought us Yumi Ohka, Fuuka, Misaki Ohata, Shu Shibutani, Haruka Matsuo and Asami as well as Keiko Furuta who was super hot, so it could have been worse.

Bloody's a good choice, not that she never got praise but it came from so few. Dunno, Joshi (and wrestling in general) is littered with people like that. Wrestlers who were really good but only lasted a short period of time and became forgotten about or never got their due to begin with. Making my way through the early days of GAEA, a lot of their OTHER trainees never get as much praise as they should. Everyone knows & loves the big 6 - Meiko, Kato, Sugar, Nagashima, Toshie & Hirota but GAEA churned out a ton more girls then that. At their peak there was a time when they had around 11-12 home grown talents on their roster. Girls like Makie Numao, Chihiro Nakano & Rina Ishii were just as good as those I previously mentioned but it's just that they had all faded away by the time 99 roled around and the promotion boomed in popularity with the SSU angle. Kumiko Maekawa is a more famous name I always felt was way better then some would give her credit for. When she was active in the days when more people regularly talked about joshi she got shit on quite regularly I remember. Not totally but she was very polarizing, especially after the series with Momoe started. Some hated but some loved too and I was always on the side of those that loved those matches and her work in general. Her & Watanabe vs LCO is one of my favorite series as well. Bad Boy Hido is a guy who fits into this catagory for me. Sure there's a lot of really crappy matches out thear of his and while I won't go as far as to say he needed to be carried, he did need to be in thear with someone talented and not a lesser opponent usually (he did have MIRACLE matches vs Super Leather in 98). But when Hido was healthy, motivated and in thear with a quality opponent he could have really good matches. Great brawler if you're into the hardcore/death match stuff and even if you're not, he was good in a lot of straight stuff as well. Mostly tags but watching them you never get the feel he's a guy just along for the ride & not contributing his share. Maekawa is dangerous you know because she has some stiff kicks, even though she may have not ever injured anyone. I call it the Kana syndrome. Meanwhile Aja will mess someone up and she's awesome.

I can tell you for sure that pretty much everyone on that list except for Cena and maybe Rey is a no. Especially not Kane/Show/Trish/Punk.

I'm really surprised to see this on the WO. Dave has to know it's a scam, but maybe the guy was paying for the time. I love how you have to pay $250 to even try out. Even if this guy gets the 400 wrestlers he wants, there's no way everyone can possibly get a chance to actually wrestle, as that would mean 200 opening round matches. The prize is not $100,000 either, it's a trip to the Wrestling Hall of Fame and a belt. I just hope all of the legends cash their check before they get on that plane.

He is more forgotten, but I'll go with John "Earthquake" Tenta. I have been watching some of his stuff lately and I've found it really enjoyable. He always plays his role really well and is alot of fun to watch. Fat guys squashing people isn't something that ever gets old. I wish more of his AJPW stuff was out there as the little I've seen has been alot of fun.

This happeneds in Japan all the time. Stan Hansen has been sued dozens of times. It also recently just happened in AJPW. They defended it by saying "That's wrestling". Apparently on the tickets somewhere it states that this can be happen, so move.

[1996-04-29-NJPW-Battle Formation] Great Muta vs Jinsei Shinzaki
rzombie1988 replied to Loss's topic in April 1996
I liked this match alot. The entrances werre great. I thought both guys were able to play to their strengths and I liked the hardcore style they worked. They really got the most out of both guys especially when it could have easily been a stinker. -
[1996-04-29-NJPW-Battle Formation] Nobuhiko Takada vs Shinya Hashimoto
rzombie1988 replied to Loss's topic in April 1996
Best 12 minute match ever? To me this always set the standard for how length doesn't equal quality. I wish more would try to copy this instead. This was an easy 5-stars for me and should rank high.- 10 replies

[1996-01-04-NJPW-Wrestling World 1996] Nobuhiko Takada vs Keiji Muto
rzombie1988 replied to Loss's topic in January 1996
There's alot of hate for this match, but I always really liked it. I loved the heat and the big match feel of it. Had Mutoh not done his elbow and the moonsault it probably would have been better, but I think Takada got alot out of him. Mutoh's walk of shame after the match really put over how much was on the line in this match.- 13 replies

All-time classic. The first woman's explosion match ends up as the best one ever. On the other hand, Toyoda's final match ends up as her best. There's also a couple of pretty sick headdrops in this.
