    AEW on TNT

Omega and the Bucks are facing Jericho and two mystery partners on the debut show. Any rumors as to who these partners will be? Jericho is promising "you're not gonna to believe who I'm planning on bringing in!" I'd say the key word there is "planning".
  2. I grew up in Southern Illinois in the mid-late 80's. I know there was WWF Superstars on Saturday morning. I think I watched it on KPLR 11 out of St. Louis. There was also a Sunday morning show (All-American or Wrestling Challenge, probably). I think it might've been on the local Fox affiliate. I may be mixing up the days of those shows, though. We had cable, so I'd watch Prime Time Wrestling every week on (I think) Tuesday evening. ESPN, at the time, showed some World Class and AWA. I remember that being on after school, so probably 3 or 4 in the afternoon. TBS had NWA on Saturday evening, Main Event on Sunday evening and maybe a weekend morning show, but I don't recall. Most importantly, though, was that I could kinda watch and listen to pay per views on scramblevision! That's how I found out Macho Man won the title at WMIV. I flipped between that and the first Clash that afternoon. Thankfully, my babysitter didn't know I was grounded from watching any wrestling. Later, a friend of mine with a satellite dish got one of those black boxes that let us watch ppvs for free.
  3. You’re not alone, gordi.
  4. I think Bob Backlund (first run) was the last baby face in WWF/E that wasn’t an asshole. Oh, Ricky Steamboat probably.

She had a nice moment in the aftermath to the Spears chairshot on Cody. Brandi got in the ring and Spears turned toward her with the chair. Edwards jumped in front of Brandi right away to shield her.

Not as good as the last show, to me. Really liked Allin/Cody and the main. Six man was fun, but not totally my cup of tea. Someone mentioned it earlier, but I would love for them to try harder to differentiate their production methods from WWE. I can’t say what that should be, but right now it’s too similar in appearance.

Pretty sure that’s the first time I’ve seen an atomic drop used as a hardcore move.

Then parodying a recent meme-worthy doc at least sets them as being more “with-it”. Do the kids still say “with-it”?

Yes. And I’m watching on my old living room Roku 3, too!
  14. Right. I live in the area of this show. A good friend of mine reported on this for local tv. I had asked him if this alert was sent out because it was known that someone in one of the matches had tested positive for something. He said that the health department said no. It's basically what you describe there. Just some concern.
  15. The poop jokes are about to get a whole lot edgier!
  16. Those worked because UWF and UWF-I were actually separate companies from New Japan and US audiences had never seen anything like nWo before. Don't forget, early stuff when it was just Hall and Nash was totally presented as them still working for WWF. Fans, in general, weren't as knowledgeable as to who was signed to who and that kind of stuff. Then you throw in the Hogan heel turn, and that's why it took off. Nowadays, everyone is aware of who has signed who as soon as it happens. No one watching MLW believes that Contra aren't on the payroll.
  17. Yes. HHH worked his way to the top. Seth is sucking up to the top. There's a difference.
  18. There are two things I'd love to never see again in wrestling: 1) Invading factions that "don't work for the company". 2) Evil authority figures. I don't have any suggestions as how to do it, but I really want to see wrestling move away from these two things.
  19. I mean, on the one hand, you can't blame Seth. He has been a failure and they've stuck with him. No wonder he's such a shill. On the other hand, fuck Seth Rollins.
  20. ECW had quite a few good makeovers. Sandman and Raven already mentioned, but Tommy Dreamer was a great one, too. Went from pseudo-male stripper in sparkly suspenders to "Hardcore" Icon. Leon "Baby Bull" White into Vader is a huge one, although I kinda love the nickname "Baby Bull".
  21. I love ya, Johnny, but you're wrong here. This is a giant corporation using the imagery of a man who made it his life mission to advocate against LGBTQ+ causes for a Pride Month promotion. I saw the other images and that was nice, but it doesn't undo this. Definitely not a non-story. This is gross and WWE needs to be held accountable for it. The Ultimate Warrior was my favorite wrestler when I was a kid. I painted my face and tied shoelaces around my arm to look like him. Wrestlemania VI was on my 12th birthday, and I watched it with my friends and lost my mind when he won. None of that changes the fact that he was a disgusting human being. He was a bigot in every sense of the term. WWE should not be using his image and name for anything, let alone a "courage" award. The man was a coward who wanted force his narrow little worldview on others. He should not be celebrated.

The most entertaining part was her horrible disguise.
  23. I watched it this morning, and I believe it was a botched finish (that I really liked!). After the match, you can see Gable call for the mic, but the ref tells him no. Doesn't seem like it was planned. Oh, but great match! They worked so well together. Hope we do get more of them!
  24. The narrator/host is Damian Abraham from the band Fucked Up.
  25. God, Moxley's situation has so many parallels to my own decision to leave tv news. I can totally sympathize with the guy. The stuff about how they have to have their "hands in everything" hit home. And I would also get physically sick going into work some days like he did. I would dread going in and hearing what wild-goose-chase, bullshit story I'd get assigned just like he would with the bad writing. It was also the same deal with anyone speaking up is labeled a troublemaker or a whiner. Oh man.
