Wait, Dunn had something against Flair's robe? Isn't he the one responsible for nixing Lance Russell inducting Lawler into the HOF?

Is TNA the worst wrestling promotion in history?
artDDP replied to Loss's topic in Megathread archive
TNA is drawing about 200-300 fans to their shows after twelve years of national TV exposure. Their PPV buys don't even approach 45,000 and the TV ratings are dwindling slowly every week. This isn't the WWF in 1997 where TV ratings are down but every other indicator is up. This is a promotion running on fumes. Does Dixie really think some other network is going to pick up this hot product and pump huge sums of money into it to prop it up for another 3-5 years despite all evidence it cannot run itself? Or is she just looking for someone dumb enough to help her absorb the losses of her parents' money? -
He was pretty upset that WWE.com gave some coverage to Axel but ignored him being there as well. I know Rock was sharing photos on Twitter, I don't recall WWE even mentioning anything. http://www.wwe.com/inside/curtis-axel-the-rock-interview-26525875

No one has mentioned Triple H not wanting it in 2002 when WWE wanted to make it the Raw championship?

I'll probably continue to watch "The Monday Night War" just because it's surreal to see Zbyszko, Vince Russo, and Tony Schiavone being interviewed on there.

Neidhart? Brian Adams? Rick Rude as an outside bet as he walked over Montreal. Didn't Brian Adams also walk as a result of Montreal? I could see him being "fired in an instant". He wasn't exactly that valuable to the WWF at the time.

That's fine, but they still treat the PPVs/Network specials as if they are more important than the weekly TV shows. They shouldn't be booking those "special" cards like any regular episode of "Smackdown."
-
I feel it was in 1999. Just the year prior you had The Rock enjoying a lengthy reign and feuding with Ken Shamrock and then Triple H, all guys being groomed for the main event. The title and their matches were treated as important. In 1999 it was treated as no more valuable than the Hardcore title.

So "The Monday Night War" has pretty told us in the first episode all we needed to know about WCW and now every successive episode is about how great and innovative everything the WWF did from 1997-99 was? Okay, I wasn't expecting to see Larry Zbyszko. I thought he was one of those guys Vince held a lifelong grudge against?

I just guess that Bischoff lost interest after getting her to drop the belt in the trash. He didn't have anything for her, wanted to kiss NJPW's ass a bit by giving Hokuto a big win, and then didn't know what to do with her so he paid her to sit at home. So, yeah...WCW gonna WCW.

I've already stoppped DVRing Raw and Smackdown. I guess after tonight I'm going to go back to just reading results on this board and the Observer and Torch sites.

I agree. After summer 1997 there was a lot of head-scratching stuff and that Hogan-Piper cage match just kind of comes out of nowhere.

During the Knockouts battle royal all I could think was if I weren't a fan and by channel surfing came upon that match I'd just think pro wrestling was everything Joe Rogan said it was and move on. Havok is just horrible and her generic theme doesn't help. -
The format for this series is so miserable and wastes a potential game-changing piece of original Network content. As you said, the war is essentially over by episode 2 when WWE takes the lead back so now we're going to cover each guy that helped WWE win. This becomes nothing more than slightly altered single wrestler documentaries. Why are we not getting week-by-week breakdowns, discussions of booking decisions or shit, ANY discussion of WCW's dominance for a year and a half? We shoud've known how this was going to be, silly us for having faith that WWE could give some credit to the competition (THAT THEY OWN) That's what upset me most about the Monday Night War DVD they put out a few years ago. There's some talk about WCW and Nitro and then 80% of the DVD was about how great Stone Cold and The Rock were and how the WWF fought back from the brink of death. I want to hear more about what was going on in the locker rooms and the offices during this time. When Triple H said that they didn't know what the hell they were going to do if they actually got backstage at Nitro, that's exactly what I want to hear more of. Also, there was a clip on one of their DVDs of Vince going over a rehearsal of the "DX invades Nitro" skit. It was just a second or two of Vince laughing at something they were doing between takes. Can we get more of that stuff, please?

I caught the replay on Friday and I enjoyed it a lot. There were plenty of things I could have done without, sure. I really liked that the show was almost entirely in-ring action. I've never really watched NXT but this show has intrigued me.

The Jim Ross Is A Grouchy Hateful Vile Human Being thread
artDDP replied to Loss's topic in Megathread archive
I'm not sure how much of it was worked but I remember on an episode of Live Wire after the Ross "heel turn" promo Vince boasting something like "what other television producer would put someone with Ross's condition on television?" when asked about the Bell's Palsy. -
Gordon Solie once said of Valentine "this guy doesn't burn a calorie unless he has to".

I was a big fan as a teen and still have his WWE theme on my workout playlist. Very sad.

When I first saw "Total Divas" I thought it could be a cool way to introduce women to the WWE product and maybe (and that's a big maybe) it could create some new fans for their product. Instead, it seems they want to try to out-trash all the other trashy reality shows on TV that are marketed towards women. What happened to Jojo? She seemed like an interesting cast member and she could have really appealed to a different part of the audience that WWE doesn't really cater to.
-
I initially hated them but now I look forward to the Bryan & Vinny Shows. They've made watching the Clash cards on the Network so much more entertaining for me.

Right here, in Sacramento, California!
-
Maybe instead of showing clips or stills they just talk about how incredible the PPV was and you have to buy the Network to see the replay? Actually, that wouldn't work given how disingenuous the current commentary team seems when selling anything.
-
Since you can now pull up WWE PPV cards on demand if you're a Network subscriber is it really necessary to only show stills from the cards on the weekly TV shows? It's not as if they still have to sell PPV replays.

I have this week's episode of "Smackdown!" on in the background and holy hell you guys were right; it is all video packages and recaps. I have been rapidly losing interest in current WWE over the last four months or so and I'm pretty much ready to erase it as a scheduled recording on my DVR.
