Loss Posted August 1, 2011 Author Report Posted August 1, 2011 Lawler does another great promo, this time saying he's put together a montage of the best moments of Gilbert's career. It's a single clip of Lawler pinning him at Mid South Coliseum to win the Global title. Quote
Tim Evans Posted August 6, 2011 Report Posted August 6, 2011 And Lawler says that Eddie is going to have to take a job washing cars. Good Lawler promo even though it's very heelish. Quote
shoe Posted September 1, 2011 Report Posted September 1, 2011 This is like Jericho heeling it up. Quote
Kevin Ridge Posted September 8, 2012 Report Posted September 8, 2012 Lawler was the camera to back up to show off both his titles. Crowd starts chanting "we want Eddie". Lawler talks about Gilbert's career and hypes up a video montage of Eddie's long career. Then shows a clip of Lawler beating Eddie. That was mean spirited but funny. Quote
WingedEagle Posted May 1, 2013 Report Posted May 1, 2013 Lawler basically heels it up here, showing that Gilbert's career highlight package consists of losing the title to Lawler. On a small package no less. But it clearly gets over here. Quote
PeteF3 Posted July 30, 2013 Report Posted July 30, 2013 Kudos to the USWA for setting up a big title unification match and giving us a decisive, satisfying finish. That wasn't too much to ask. Quote
MikeCampbell Posted August 30, 2013 Report Posted August 30, 2013 I know he's the babyface, but Lawler is really being a dick to Eddie the last few weeks. First the whole Missy Hyatt deal, and now claiming the loss last week was the highlight of Eddie's career. Quote
garretta Posted February 22, 2016 Report Posted February 22, 2016 Lawler's clearly had enough of Eddie and it shows here. There's not even a pretense of respecting him or anyone associated with him or the GWF. It's gotten so bad that a portion of the studio audience has actually started cheering for Eddie, which may not have been the intended effect, but Lawler clearly doesn't care about that either. At least we get to see the finish of the match from the previous Monday night at the MSC, which is a lot cleaner than I would have guessed it would be. My guess is that Eddie's latest run in Memphis is just about over. At least Lawler isn't forced to pay lip service to the idea of going to the GWF to defend the title; he flat-out states that anyone from the GWF interested in taking the title has to come to Memphis to do it. Of course, that's a cover for the fact that the GWF had nothing to do with the title change and refused to recognize it. Quote
dawho5 Posted April 28, 2020 Report Posted April 28, 2020 This is a really dickish promo even by Lawler standards. I did like the bit about anyone from GWF having to come to Memphis for a match, from a purely hometown hero standpoint. Oh, what happened to the Moondogs? Quote
