Loss
Talk about it here.
Loss
James Mitchell does an interview in his first gimmick, and I like him here much better as a talker than in other gimmicks. He manages to extoll the virtues of atheism and put over the incoming Prince Kharis all at the same time!
Kevin Ridge
Prince Kharis! Not that impressive in the end. No fairytales here.
flyonthewall2983
Cornette really knew how to push his audience's buttons. An Atheist manager, a black "gangsta" tag team, and a smart-mouthed blonde who idolized Hillary Clinton (no doubt if done today, it would be Michelle Obama). shoe
I love Van Horn here he is so much better in this role than ones where he was paid better. He is so much more believeable here than in any of his other roles.
Exposer
This had me laughing my ass off. He alluded to bestiality with a mythical creature and preached atheism. This is a winner.
soup23
I have never watched any Daryle Van Horn before but enjoyed this. This was fairly edgy stuff but it is stuff that I am sure Cornette knew would work in this region.
El-P
Funny stuff. Too bad he never got to talk in WCW.
PeteF3
It's post-Christmas, because all the women in the Smoky Mountains have Rudolph's hoofprints on their back and rugburns on their knees. JEEZ. Bob looks INTENSELY uncomfortable when Van Horn starts ranting about the "stupid book of fairytales" the people in SMW read every Sunday, as opposed to the Book of the Dead. I think there's another promo where Caudle legitimately loses it and goes off on him, Dave Brown-style. Van Horn gets off lines that are occasionally funny in a vacuum but saying shocking shit just to be shocking reeks of desperation and wears thin really, really quick--and that's all Mitchell has really ever had going for him. GSR
Bob Caudle says that Van Horn has talked about Prince Kharis for weeks and weeks, but he’s yet to see him and he doesn’t think any of the fans have seen him on TV either (guessing Thanksgiving Thunder against Tim Horner has been quietly forgotten about!). Van Horn says everybody in the Smoky Mountain area is going to be in for a big treat as Prince Kharis will make his debut on SMW TV next week. He held him back for a few weeks as these people weren’t worthy of seeing him, but when he comes out here he wants to make sure all these Smoky Mountain crackers give him a reception worthy of an Egyptian Prince, worthy of a holy man. He is the High Priest of the Temple of the Sun, and if these idiots don’t believe him read it in the Egyptian Book of the Dead, the book that tells you the true mysteries of the Universe, that solves all the enlightenment problems in the world; unlike that other pack of fairy tales these idiots read on Sunday! In just a short while Prince Kharis is going to start letting the blood of the Nile fill the arenas in the Smoky Mountain area, screw your wigs on tight and get ready for the reign of Prince Kharis. Think this is the first time Van Horn has appeared on the Yearbook's and his delivery from his debut interview has been first class. I certainly agree with the comments about saying 'shocking' things gets tired really quick (in one interview he talks about his lawyers in Libido & Cleavage, and the whole purpose just appeared to be so he could say those words on TV), and Prince Kharis is hardly La Momia from Titanes. No idea what Cornette was thinking at all with this gimmick and I think Van Horn could've been put too much better use than here. Interesting to see how long he is around for as I doubt Kharis will be around for long.
garretta
I don't think Van Horn lasted much longer than Kharis, if he outlasted Kharis at all. All I could think of when I was watching this was a recent interview Mitchell did on Corny's podcast where he admitted that most of the things he said in his interviews were porn references in code. If there were any people in the Knoxville area who were smart enough to pick up on that, it's no wonder that both Mitchell and Kharis got the boot so quickly. Calling the Bible a pack of lies is going too far, whether your audience is from the Bible Belt or not. A lot of people who don't necessarily practice religion fervently still believe in its basic moral teachings, so anyone who insults it is most likely bringing more trouble on themselves than they bargained for. Given that Corny himself is a card-carrying anti-religionist, it probably didn't bother him in the least, but he should have had a better grasp of who his audience was.
