Loss Posted November 1, 2012 Author Report Posted November 1, 2012 Another strong Lawler promo -- this one directed toward Jarrett and Dundee. He wants to know if they have enough guts to face Lawler and Travis. Quote
PeteF3 Posted November 2, 2012 Report Posted November 2, 2012 For a promo that pretty much just amounted to, "You're cowards," this was pretty compelling. Lawler knows how to spin a yarn. Quote
soup23 Posted November 4, 2012 Report Posted November 4, 2012 Straight laced fired up Lawler promos are always good in my book and this was no exception. Looks like the focus for Lawler for the time being is strictly with Jarrett/Dundee. Quote
Kevin Ridge Posted November 9, 2012 Report Posted November 9, 2012 Good heel promo by Lawler calling his opponents cowards and making up a story about them begging others in the locker room to come to their aid after the beating Lawler will give them. Quote
Cox Posted November 21, 2012 Report Posted November 21, 2012 The thing is, if you didn't know the circumstances behind this promo and how it was Lawler and Travis who were always laying out the babyfaces with other heels on their side, you'd think this is a babyface promo with Lawler challenging the two cowardly heels to face him and Travis without any help. But since it's Lawler, it's all mostly bullshit, yet done in a compelling enough manner to where you still want to see the match. Good stuff. Quote
JerryvonKramer Posted January 11, 2013 Report Posted January 11, 2013 There's no way this could be a babyface promo with all the trash talking about Texas and Dallas ("the dump of the world"). Good promo though. Quote
Laney Posted May 16, 2013 Report Posted May 16, 2013 Another good promo from Lawler here. Definitely a heel promo as he runs down the hometown and talks about how Jarrett and Dundee were only able to survive the post-match beatdown by Lawler and Travis by enlisting in the aid of the other faces in the locker room. garretta Posted December 7, 2014 Report Posted December 7, 2014 If it's true that the best heel promos are done by heels who honestly believe they're babyfaces, this is a prime example. There are times when you know that the King knows what he's saying is highly questionable at best and utter bullshit at worst, but this isn't one of them. He's straight on and dead serious, and you want to go to the Sportatorium to see if Jarrett and Dundee can summon up those guts that he's talking about. It's kind of a shame he's still busy with Cobra back home in Memphis, because if you take out the references to Dallas, this promo could help sell out the Mid-South Coliseum as well, especially with the wrestlers involved in the match. I have to admit that I'm beginning to come around a bit on Dallas Lawler; he's really had a good few segments since his awful match with JYD. I just hope he can keep it up throughout the year. Quote
El-P Posted December 13, 2014 Report Posted December 13, 2014 Yep, another strong, serious promo from Lawler. On average, Lawler was pretty awesome anyway on the mic. Quote
drew wardlaw Posted November 10, 2015 Report Posted November 10, 2015 Really cool to compare this promo with Lawler talking to Art Modell or insulting children or something. He knows its time to get serious and here he is delivering the "straight dope" as Elaine Benes would say. Really gets across the gravity of the (presumably) upcoming match. Quote
GSR Posted December 1, 2016 Report Posted December 1, 2016 Lawler sometime wonders if people have no shame? He doesn't have to ask the people watching if they've heard that expression because he's certain they haven't, or they'd all be ashamed to live in the stinking state of Texas and the dump of the world Dallas! If they had any shame they'd move out as quickly as possible! Two people who have no shame though are Bill Dundee and Jeff Jarrett. They call themselves athletes, they call themselves professional wrestlers, and they try to get these clod kicking, tobacco chewing, rednecks from Dallas to believe that they are top flight stars in their profession. The truth, and the thing they should be ashamed of is, that when Jeff Jarrett and Bill Dundee wrestled Billy Joe Travis and himself, before the match took place they sat around in the dressing room with all their cronies like Chris Adams, Kerry Von Erich and Jimmy Jack Funk. They went to each one of them and said that when Jerry Lawler and Billy Joe Travis have us down, flat on our backs, and you can see there is no hope for us, please run down into that ring and try to get the match stopped, save us at all cost! He says that you would think Jarrett and Dundee would be ashamed to do that, but they're not just trying to save their careers, they're trying to save their lives too because they know Billy Joe Travis and he would finish both of them off. He's asking them for a gut check, to not to go and ask Chris Adams or Jimmy Jack Funk to save them, just to face them both two on two. He doesn't think they've got the guts and are just a couple of low life stinking cowards that have to have help when they're in the ring with real men! Good interview and a complete change of pace from what we've seen from Lawler in the Memphis studio. Quote
