Loss
Lawler does yet another great promo, this time hyping a six-man tag of Lawler/Travis/Garvin vs Dundee/Jarrett/Kerry. It's hard to give each of these the praise they deserve without sounding repetitive, but yeah, this is awesome.
PeteF3
Lawler predicts a rehash of the 49ers and Broncos in the Super Bowl, and reveals his plan for he and Travis to put the match away and let Terrence Garvin pick up the victory. Come see the Texas Champion and hero get humiliated!
soup23
Another great Lawler promo with some great shots on Dundees stature. Lawler maps out their strategy for winning.
Kevin Ridge
Lawler makes lots of short Dundee jokes. Jerry thinks upcoming six man match with be a blow out. It will be so one sided that they will put the second string (Garvin) in to finish off the match. Nice way to talk about your tag partner. Cox
I always get a kick out of Bill Dundee short jokes for some reason. Nice way to date the promo referencing the '90 Super Bowl. Remember when the Super Bowl was almost guaranteed to be a blowout?
Laney
Nice promo here by Lawler who predicts the upcoming 6-man tag will be a blowout. Lawler exposes Garvin as not being in the same league as him and Travis, and I am inclined to agree.
JerryvonKramer
As amusing as the Dundee height gags are, I do wonder if Lawler is breaking one of the cardinal rules by pointing to something that is actually true. Always feel like he's sort of burying the opponents. He even criticises his own partner here. Of course, Terrence Garvin deserves all the criticism he can get. garretta
I like the intensity of all the Lawler Dallas promos; it's a welcome change from his Memphis stuff, which can get a bit too comic at times. I don't think he's burying Garvin as much as acknowledging that he's not on his (Lawler) and Travis's level in order to set up him pinning Kerry as Kerry's (and the fans') ultimate humiliation. You want to talk about new ways to keep a feud fresh? Lawler and Dundee have been going at it off and on for over fifteen years at this point, but it still feels as if their feud just started yesterday. What performers those two are! drew wardlaw
I reckon there's not a more antagonistic trios team in the history of the business than Lawler/Travis/Garvin. Can't wait for this match.
GSR
Jerry Lawler wants to talk about this big match next Friday night at the Sportatorium, the dump! The people who come down to ‘the dump’ are used to it because he’s seen some of the houses that they live in and the cars they drive, so it’s probably a step up for them! In regards to this match, you’ve got Kerry Von Erich who for years has fooled all these brainless imbeciles into thinking he’s a professional wrestler. Then there is Jeff Jarrett who idolizes him and wants to be like him, and then you’ve got Bill Dundee who has to look up to everyone. He’s the last one to know when it rains and he always talks about what a big heart he’s got, well that’s the only thing that’s big about him! The three of them are going to be facing himself, Billy Joe Travis and Terrance Garvin. He says that Garvin isn’t really ready to be in this situation and hasn’t come far enough as a wrestler, but the odds are already in their favour even without Garvin as the two of them could beat Jarrett, Dundee and Von Erich on their own. No-one likes mismatches and he’s not crazy about this one because he’s the world champion and he wants competition; he wants to be pushed to the limit and to see how good he really is. To find out how good he is he has to be against someone who is as good as him, and Jeff Jarrett, Bill Dundee and Kerry Von Erich aren’t in that category. What they are going to do this Friday will be like a football game, it will all be over by half time. Billy Joe Travis and himself are going to finish them off and then they’ll bring in the second string, Terrance Garvin, and they’ll let him pin Kerry Von Erich right in the middle of the ring in the Sportatorium! There is a different vibe to the Dallas promos compared to the Memphis studio ones, and Lawler is seemingly always more intense and serious. It’s a strange way of talking about their partner, that he is not good enough to be in the ring with them, but it works. Completely talking down and belittling Garvin, and then when he is to get the pin on Von Erich, in the Sportatorium, it makes it all the more humiliating for Kerry. dawho5
I think Lawler's short jokes about Dundee come from their long and heated rivalry that always existed even when they tagged. He just likes fucking with Billy about that and trying to get a rise out of him. If Lawler was less giving in their matches it would be a burial, but it usually ends up being just an easy shot to take.
