Loss
Talk about it here.
Loss
Finish from MSC. DWB suffers a TECHNICAL LOSS after attacking the ref. John Tatum attacks Dundee after the match, as the feud is now taking place in both Memphis and Dallas. Jeff Jarrett and Billy Joe Travis make the save. Back at the studio, DWB is standing by with Ronnie P. Gossett. Dundee sends in a taped promo with Tessa vowing revenge. DWB says if Tessa gets in his way again, he'll knock her teeth down her throat. He's after a $10,000 bounty on Dundee's head. This is a good promo, but Tony Anthony really found himself in SMW.
PeteF3
The Tatum/Tessa feud has made its way to Memphis! Tony Anthony failed to collect the $10,000 bounty on Bill Dundee as a result of kicking the referee, but he gets another chance Monday night. A confrontation between Tessa and the Dirty White Girl is teased.
soup23
Really interesting to see what stage both programs were. I agree that DWB grew a lot from what we see here to his promos in 1994.
shoe
DWB is easily one of the most underrated promo's of all time. He turns out another good one here.
Kevin Ridge
Dirty White Boy gets put in a sleeperhold and decides to get himself disqualified. Tessa tries to help Dundee and Tatum shows up. Seems like they are actually crossing over the Memphis and Texas angles. DWB doesn’t like Dundee talking about the Dirty White Girl. He’s fine with punching Tessa’s teeth out. Anthony will be collecting the bounty.
Cox
Good promo by one of my all time favs. Hope we see more DWB as the yearbook progresses.
garretta
I like the fact that one side of the USWA is finally acknowledging the other side's angles. It's about time. Anthony's not quite as polished on the mic as he would be four years later, but he can still get the job done, which kind of makes Gossett redundant, doesn't it? It seems almost like Jarrett wants to create a Memphis version of the Austin-Jeannie/Adams-Toni feud. They've definitely got comparable (if not slightly superior) male workers, but the female side of the equation seems to be sorely lacking, at least at this point in time. This has nothing to do with wrestling, but I like the steamboat logo for WMC that puttered across the screen during Dundee's promo.
drew wardlaw
I can't remember if DWB has made an appearance here before but I liked this promo. Tatum is involved, so I liked the segment, of course.
GSR
End of a Bill Dundee vs Tony Anthony $10,000 bounty match from Mid-South Coliseum. Dundee puts the sleeper on Anthony and the Dirty White Boy kicks referee Frank Morrell for the DQ. Anthony attacks Dundee after the match and Tessa gets in there, grabbing him by the hair to get him off ‘The Superstar’. He goes after Tessa but is blindsided by Dundee who knocks him down. John Tatum then jumps Dundee and the two of them double team him until Jeff Jarrett and Billy Joe Travis make the save. Back in the studio and Dave Brown is joined by Tony Anthony and Ronnie P. Gossett, with the White Boy laughing about what we’ve just seen. Taped Dundee and Tessa promo and ‘The Superstar’ says how Anthony found collecting that $10,000 bounty a little harder than he thought. For years the White Boy has Kim at ringside, and the women do come in handy as he was glad to see Tessa jump on his back and give him the edge. Next thing he knew though, John Tatum was in there and pounding on him. If he thinks Tessa is coming back to him, he’s wrong as he’s out of her life, but he’s not out of his! He then tells Tony Burton (sic) that he doesn’t care if it’s another $10,000 bounty match or not, but it’s going to be a fight to the finish though as he doesn’t like him, or anything that he stands for. He wants him out of his life and if the bounty is still on, come and try and collect it Monday night. Anthony isn’t happy with Dundee talking about the Dirty White Girl, and says that if Tessa sticks her nose in the ring again he’ll knock her teeth down her throat. He says that Bill Dundee is worth $10,000 and there is a lot he can do with $10,000! If he wants to fight that’s exactly what they’ll do because he’s sick and tired of him. I’m amazed that they let Dundee calling Tony Anthony ‘Tony Burton’ slip through the net, and that they didn’t have him re-tape the promo. I’ve watched enough Smoky Mountain Wrestling to know that the Dirty White Boy is an awesome promo and whilst not at that level, still nice to see that he was good here. I’m guessing that with the mention of the Dirty White Girl she’s on her way within the next couple of weeks.
garretta
Dundee was referring to Tony's tag team partner at the time, Tom Burton. You'll see more of him as the year progresses.
GSR
Dundee was referring to Tony's tag team partner at the time, Tom Burton. You'll see more of him as the year progresses. Yeah, my guess was that he was thinking of his partner in the Dirty White Boys and he just ended up combining the names. Probably doesn't help that Tony Burton (who did some WWF jobs circa 1990) also worked Memphis a few years before this and is someone that Dundee would have known and been aware of. dawho5
I like seeing Dundee, Jarrett and DWB back in the Memphis studio. Need more than Lawler and the occasional highlight of Ron Fuller in this side of the territory.
