Slasher
watching Total Divas. if the WWE's goal was to make their performers as irritating as possible they really hit a homerun. But I loathe reality TV in general. Poor Nattie can't even catch a break in a scripted reality show She is clearly being cast as the "aging vet who is trying to hang on", which is unfortunate because she never got a legitimate push to begin with after the Dynasty broke up. sek69
So based on the skit with Hunter, Steph, and Vince it appears Daniel Bryan is doing the same gimmick they did with Mankind in 1998. Vince doesn't want someone looking like that as champion, so they give him a "corporate makeover".
Slasher
Does that mean the McMahons will turn on Bryan to reaffirm the reality of backing John Cena as the real corporate champion?
sek69
The weird thing is Cena would clearly be the corporate champion in that scenario, but Vince is all "I hate Cena too and I hope the both spontaneously combust". It comes off as forced since they have an almost pathological aversion to anything that would imply a heel turn for Cena.
Dylan Waco
I think it's obvious they are setting up for Orton to cash in seconds after Bryan wins
sek69
I think it's obvious they are setting up for Orton to cash in seconds after Bryan wins It seems that way, but then what? Orton as 2013 Corporate Rocky doesn't sound all that appealing, and the idea of beating Bryan seconds after winning just seems like another case of WWE conditioning fans to not give a shit about someone because that means they'll get beat. Johnny Sorrow
They just might have Orton cash in and lose. Imagine the pop if that happened. Bryan is HOT right now, and I think it's a possible scenario.
Slasher
Someone on Wrestling Classics had a decent idea of having Orton cash in, losing, then losing his shit over it and attacking Bryan to the point of injury. Then it would at least set Bryan up with a hot fall program, although we did just see a Bryan/Orton feud...
Matt D
I really do want the classical Orton cashes in, becomes corporate Champ, Bryan is screwed out of his rematch and has to win the Rumble to get a match at Mania storyline. I want this to be Austin/Rock in 98-99 almost exactly. i also want Orton's Rumble opponent to be Christian to play up what happened a few years ago when we had the real life version of this but that might be asking too much. Dylan Waco
I don't think Orton cashing in on Bryan would be bad at all or hurt Bryan. It would basically be Punk/Hardy 2.0 and that is a feud that did wonders for both guys (until Jeff went all Jeff on us)

It would basically be Punk/Hardy 2.0 and that is a feud that did wonders for both guys (until Jeff went all Jeff on us) I thought Jeff's contract was expiring around the time that they put him over Edge? In fact, wasn't that the point of doing the Punk angle? So Punk could send Jeff out on a decent note, and kickstart a new character direction for himself while putting together a summer program that could carry the Smackdown shows? It seemed like they only signed Jeff to a short contract extension just to complete his part of the angle (the cage match), similar to Jericho signing a short extension to help further an angle. Point being Punk/Hardy would not have happened, probably, if Jeff didn't go Jeff on us.

rovert
Soliciting comments on tonight's Punk vs Fandango match. I thought it was a tremendous little TV match with Punk giving Fandango a surprising amount of offence. CM Punk seems to see him as a special project: ON WHY FANDANGO IS A WRESTLERS’ WRESTLER: He knows how to wrestle. Guy’s been with the company for a very long time and he got a break doing something flamboyant and I think it’s great. But, over time, you’re going to find out that he can go. Bell to bell, he can wrestle. You’re going to find that out. Mini Bennett
Sooner rather than later I think everyone is going to learn that Johnny Curtis/Fandango is a guy who worked hard for years and that he deserves the spot he is in now.

Jimmy Redman
I definitely think he worked hard and earned his spot on the roster. I still remain to be convinced about how good he is in the ring though. Maybe he's just finding his feet with the gimmick, but almost every match he has had up until the Punk match has been disappointing. Punk match was good though. Matt D
I certainly don't think he's looked good during the first half of the year. Are people arguing that he did?
Mini Bennett
Fandango's character work can't be faulted and he has certainly connected. Expectations may have been raised due the push around Mania time, but to say he's an effective mid-card heel can't be too much of a stretch? anarchistxx
Sooner rather than later I think everyone is going to learn that Johnny Curtis/Fandango is a guy who worked hard for years and that he deserves the spot he is in now. Nobody deserves that spot. Character has no legs whatsoever. He'll be jobbing to Kofi Kingston on Superstars every week within a year.
cm funk
Curtis was in developmental with Cabana who has talked about being friends with him/put him over on his podcast, so no surprise Punk would go to bat for him Haven't seen the Punk match, but Fandango is a solid midcarder. He's got a few cool spots, bumps around a lot, and has a unique gimmick. He has that long match on RAW with Orton that was average-disappointing for the time they got. The Jericho matches were ok with Jericho carrying him. He's like a Kofi Kingston type in ring to me, with better execution. I can buy him improving with more TV time/higher comfort level. Is he supposed to be a heel or a face now? It felt like he was turning face when he came back from the concussion, and got big face reactions at MITB and RAW the next night (in Philly and Baltimore tbf). Now they're booking him like a heel again, but not as heelish as before.
anarchistxx
Can't believe they are running Christian/ADR at Summerslam. Everybody knows he is jobbing too. Surely a more interesting scenario would be: - RVD getting the shot and winning the strap, carrying it for a while, giving it a bit of prestige - Orton getting the shot and winning the strap, and then using his MITB to try and unify the titles at some point down the line The RVD return has been badly botched anyway, no meaningful feuds or programs, just a few random matches. They could have actually built some momentum there, but already he is just another guy. Del Rio himself has to go down as one of the blandest, dullest main eventers the company has ever had. This guy screams mid card at best, yet he has consistently been pushed to the moon as both a face and a heel. There is nothing remotely interesting about his character, and his ring work is solid without ever being especially exciting.
Sidebottom
Pinch of salt here but apparently Triple H doesn't like Kassius Ohno's body and his lack of motivation to improve it: http://www.wrestlinginc.com/wi/news/2013/0...d-indefinitely/ Wrestling Inc? I think they're doing RVD-Orton at SummerSlam, and RVD will probably go over, because Orton is turning heel and cashing in at the end of the night. It wouldn't make sense to take the belt off Del Rio since the eventual build looks to be Dolph beating him for it. Christian is getting the "reward the vet on his last run with a big payday" spot, and I'm fine with that. Him and Del Rio will have a good match, and Christian is good enough to get the fans into it even though everyone "knows" he's losing
