Because house show crowds are mostly kids who love Cena and their parents

WWE has two separate audiences.....and both of them are equally important to their bottom line. The hardcore fans who fill up your TV and PPV crowds in big cities and travel to shows, and your kids/parents that buy the merch and the video games but aren't as reliable as the diehards. They can't afford to alienate either half of their fanbase....which is why you get often disjointed and inconsistent booking that often doesn't appeal to either side of the audience

This may be the most definitive explanation for the state of WWE ever written.

It's true, the diehards realized house shows are largely irrelevant in terms of advancing any storylines (nothing counts unless it happens on TV) and mostly don't go to them as much if at all. Kids don't care and just want to see their heroes in person.

This is nothing new by the way, I was the same way as a kid. I didn't care the NWA show I went to on a Friday night in 1987 didn't have any real meaning. I just wanted to see the Horsemen, Dusty, Nikita, and the Rock n Rolls in person and enjoyed the shit out of it. Also great was 9 year old me embarrassing the shit out of my mom by yelling "DICK MURDOCH IS PLAYING WITH HIMSELF" when he was doing the hide-the-object-from-the-ref routine.

Going to an MSG house show last July was a revelatory experience that showed how entertaining the company can be when not overwritten. Two Rusev squashes. Really good women's tag in Charlotte/Sasha Banks vs. Nikki Bella/Nattie. A Bo Dallas-Zack Ryder comedy match that was actually funny. Shockingly good Jericho-Orton match. Cena-Wyatt main event that was better than any match they ever had on TV and ended with entertaining cameos from Flair and HHH. This was a card without Bryan, Cesaro, Ziggler, Harper or the Shield and it's still the best WWE show I've seen in years.

It's amazing how good their shows could be if they relaxed, had some fun, and let workers play to the crowd.

They should try switching the format for a month. House show reports read like a hardcore's wish list.

And maybe their dialogue would work better for kids ?

Has this always been the case with House Shows from the past 2 decades?

Hmm, so how do we take into account the hometown house shows, where the heels typically win a big time match or close the show speaking to the audience (eg, Regal in England, heel Hart's in Canada, Punk in Chicago)? Surely that's not catering for kids, who have turned up to see John Cena and don't want the snotty British guy to win?

I feel like Nikki Bella has quietly became the WWE's best working female. I never thought I would hear myself say this (or type this as it were) but I'm looking forward to some of the NXT gals (Bayley, Sasha) getting called up & working her.

Kids can still have a bit of nationalistic fervor. I don't think cheering on the local guy is a hard concept for them to understand - also the local tends to work face in this situation, making the most out of the local connection, referencing the local sport teams, bigging up his hometown/country.

Also, they are never going to put William Regal over John Cena in London. More likely it will be a minor face who the kids aren't as invested in or they will just run a heel vs heel match.

I know Randy Orton needs to come back & settle the score with Seth Rollins over the stuff that put Orton out. That being said, I'm really hoping WWE does a double turn with Seth Rollins and Roman Reigns. If Seth is the Jeff Hardy style babyface (which after his Rumble match, I think is pretty obvious he can do) and Reigns is the cocky chosen one heel, I think things would make a lot more sense.

I think a lot of her improvement has been due to the quality of people around her (Natalia, Paige, etc) that has helped her grow. I still don't think she's the best they have but compared to two years ago its a vast improvement.

What is everyone guessing on this big announcement that will shake the foundations of WWE?

Bringing back the 2 brands with the World title back?

Is it likely hunter will slot himself back into another title shot at mania but this time win the belt? Wasent there a interview with him the past few days where he claimed something about if you want something done right to do it yourself.

I think that Orton-Rollins is a must for Fast Lane, but absolutely cannot comprehend it as a WM match. I said before that I'd include Orton in a Team HHH-Team Sting six-man, which frees Rollins to actually provide closure to the Ambrose feud which I think is the perfect mechanism to turn him face. I don't think that a straight double turn with Reigns works, because I think that he needs to turn heel before Rollins goes face. He can't just become a face because he gets excised by The Authority, he needs his redemption (in a good, brutal match with Ambrose that makes Rollins realize who he "truly is") before the turn.

If I had to guess, I would say the announcement of Triple H Vs. Sting? I'm not sure...but I'm confident it will be something that does not have anything to do with Daniel Bryan.

Could be nothing at all, and one big dumb gag like addressing Axel never entering the Rumble. But I'm sure they won't "announce" anything RE Sting until at least Fast Lane as they're trying to sell that show around his appearance and confrontation with Hunter.

he specifically framed it as being an announcement that would help squash the "controversy" around Reigns winning the Rumble. I wouldn't put it past them to completely ignore their own narrative, but giving them the benefit of the doubt, this announcement shouldn't have anything to do with Sting. now the question is whether or not he was talking about the "real" controversy which is that people wanted Bryan over Reigns, or the worked controversy which is that Reigns had outside help to win the Rumble. Based on how they've talked about it on the website it sounds like they mean the worked controversy.

Reigns didn't have outside help to win the Rumble though. Big Show & Kane were both already eliminated, then returned to the ring to beat down Reigns, which is when Rock came out.

So whatever it's about, it's going to come off badly. But WWE need to start putting 'Mania more set in stone tonight. They can't waste anymore weeks of build. Fast Lane coming or not. We gotta get to Sting/HHH, Orton/Reigns, Cena/Rusev and apparently Bryan/Dolph now. People like Bray, Ambrose and the like need things to do too. When are Sheamus & Orton coming back?

WWE feel so directionless to me right now. They gotta get back on track.

But had he not come out, Kane/Show could have whomped him at will and left him for dead until Rusev, as the only other man left in the match, reentered the ring and tossed him out.
