Loss Posted January 30, 2013 Author Report Posted January 30, 2013 Gilbert and Embry lose to Lawler and Jarrett when Lawler pins Gilbert. Embry blames Gilbert for the loss after the match and ends up attacking him. When Gilbert tries to fight back, Tom Pritchard attacks him from behind. Embry trash talks Lawler, telling him he didn't beat him at all, and lures him back into the ring. I'm sure the Gilbert babyface turn will be great, but I have really loved him as a heel, and I still think Gilbert vs Lawler had another few months of legs as a feud. Oh well. Quote
shoe Posted February 3, 2013 Report Posted February 3, 2013 You knew this was bound to happen if Gilbert was staying in the territory. Quote
PeteF3 Posted February 27, 2013 Report Posted February 27, 2013 USWA Crash TV claims yet another promising angle. I'd have liked to have seen a big blowoff match between Lawler and Gilbert, too. Quote
Kevin Ridge Posted March 17, 2013 Report Posted March 17, 2013 We see Lawler pinning Gilbert after a piledriver. Embry and Gilbert get face to face and start pushing each other. Embry is attacking Gilbert. This is interesting. Eddie flips out on Embry before Pritchard gets involved. I fee like Gilbert turned too soon. Quote
soup23 Posted May 16, 2013 Report Posted May 16, 2013 On one hand, I can see that there still was legs in the Gilbert vs. Lawler battles, but on the flipside I do think this Texas vs. Tennessee feud has been a ton of fun so far and Im excited to see it play out with gilbert turning face. Quote
ajtroma Posted June 15, 2013 Report Posted June 15, 2013 Pretty sure they were changing bookers at around this point. Embry got the book and systematically tried to kill off all the local heroes. All the babyfaces that were around at this time still detest Eric. Quote
garretta Posted April 21, 2015 Report Posted April 21, 2015 I can't believe someone else didn't come down to save the day here. Where was Dundee? Where was Jeff? It was open season on Lawler and Gilbert for way, way too long. I liked that they fought back a bit at the very end, and a bloody Eddie daring Embry to take his best shot was one of the best visuals in wrestling so far this year, but the Tennesseeans need to get themselves together before they fall too much further behind. Did they end Lawler/Gilbert too soon? For this round, most definitely. But you know all it's going to take is a sideways glance before they're at it again even more heatedly than ever. Like Lawler/Dundee, Lawler/Idol, and even Lawler/Mantel, this is a war that will never truly be over, even if circumstance puts them on the same side at a given time. Quote
dawho5 Posted October 23, 2017 Report Posted October 23, 2017 I'm withholding judgement on this until I see where it goes. Lawler and Gilbert can still bicker while they try to get rid of the Texans. Quote
