Loss
Talk about it here.
soup23
Hogan and Bischoff are at ringside. Ill give Hogan this, he is staying active while not wrestling much at this point in time. Bischoff gets chokeslammed but nash throws a kettle of hot coffee in Giant's face. He low blows him and then delivers the jack-knife that looks like it breaks Giant's neck. Nash pins him for the victory. Hogan, always the opportunist talks about how he taught nash that move. The announcers get over how much this has been the NWO's night so far. Migs
Big surprise - I think Heenan has been pretty excellent on commentary so far, when he was normally pretty tiresome at this stage in his career. The intensity feels legit instead of hackneyed tonight.
Zenjo
Nash delivers Atsushi Onita's awesome Ganso Powerbomb by accident. Brutal move. Watching this again I get the impression that they were going to do some lame blindness angle with the hot coffee. Then fate intervenes and they have no choice but to play off such a devastating looking move.
bradhindsight
Man the poor Giant has to be bent over in the powerbomb position for like a minute before Nash finally botches the move. I wonder if the mat was slippery from the coffee also. Post match they bandage the Giant's eyes and we get some match highlights including Nash executing the worst tope ever. Loss
Last few minutes. Coffee finishes were back in style. I've always heard Nash worked hammered here which would have been more than enough reason to fire him in a more sane time for wrestling, considering that he seriously hurt someone. That doesn't even get into Nash being scheduled to do a job at Starrcade and then not putting Giant over at the subsequent show.
Superstar Sleeze
Kevin Nash vs The Giant - WCW Souled Out 1998This was way more entertaining that it had any right to be. There was major heat for this and it felt like a real Clash of the Titans. Can't think of a time after this where The Giant ever felt like such a big deal. I guess Maywheather? WWE eventually found their footing with him as an upper midcarder they could plug into the main event when needed. Here, he felt like one of the hottest superstars on Earth. Nash to his credit seemed very willing to put him over and stooge for him. They did some great spots to build the tension and then The Giant just steamrolled him with great action. Nash actually busted some shit I have never seen from him, a fucking leapfrog and a tope. I don't care if the tope does not look like Psicosis the fact he tired was pretty damn cool and out over the aura how much this match meant. The Giant catching Nash and throwing him into the post was awesome. Nash is a big dude and it was crazy seeing Giant pick him up and just move him around at will. They sort of lost steam until the end when Giant was signaling for the Chokeslam. Hot coffee is back, BABY! Nash hits a low blow and then GANSO BOMB~! Seriously, a very scary looking spot and I am glad The Giant was ok. All in all an entertaining clash between two super heavyweights when I expected shit. Souled Out 1998 maybe the best PPV of the NWO era, everything has been at least good and am actually going to watch the entire PPV because how good the marquee matches have been. ***
PeteF3
Giant with one of the worst hot-coffee sells I've ever seen...I can't believe I just typed that or that I have other incidents to compare this to. He just bends over for like 30 seconds while Nash gingerly sets him up for the power bomb. Crowd goes almost silent with shock when Giant hits. Announcers in the post-match don't know whether to get over an eye injury or a neck injury.
TravJ1979
Giant must have nightmares about coffee. I love how after the brutal bomb which Nash fucked up as if he would have dropped him after the initial lift, it would have been fine, the announcers are talking about how medical staff is out to check on the Giant and then the doctor pulls out gauze and starts wrapping his eyes. The announcers then had to be like, "oh, i guess he got burned." RATING: Nash getting rich off wrestling is one of the biggest travesties in the history of the business. Right, Schiavone?
