Loss
What matches do you think look like they are potentially amazing that we only have clipped, be it JIP or in highlight form? Note that this is a different question than asking about holy grails. What are the big matches that come to mind that are not available in full that you wish were? Let's point to specific ones if we can instead of "just about anything from Memphis" and that type of thing.
KrisZ
The first one that comes to mind is the Chicago Street Fight Battle Royal from Las Vegas that was on the AWA set circa 1988 with Free for All by Ted Nugent as the theme music.....that match looked fucking amazing
PeteF3
Jerry Lawler & Dutch Mantell vs. Bill Dundee & Buddy Landell in the Texas Death Match from 3/24/86, which went 28 falls.
Phil Schneider
Lawler and Dundee had a cage match in 1986 which looked awesome
Gregor
I swear YouTube used to have a Dandy vs. Blue Panther title match from like 1992 that was clipped down to about ten minutes.
ohtani's jacket
I swear YouTube used to have a Dandy vs. Blue Panther title match from like 1992 that was clipped down to about ten minutes. It did. It also had a clip of Blue Panther vs. Gran Cochisse that I'd love to see again.
Dylan Waco
Gotta agree with Kris. Breaks my heart that the bunkhouse battle royal doesn't seem to exist in full
KrisZ
Dylan will also agree with me that when we did the AWA set there were some really great looking gems from the AWA proper and Winnipeg that were cut in half that would've easily made the set and placed high. Eduardo
El Faraon vs Sangre Chicana from 1986 looks wild and awesome in highlight form.
Jetlag
I remember clips of Daisuke Ikeda and Takahiro Oba punching eachother in their bloody foreheads airing on a random Occupation of the Indies episode that looked pretty amazing. I like to hope Ikeda is saving all those unreleased tapes somewhere and will be selling them from his garage once he retires. Also, there's the finish of a Fritz von Erich/Joe Blanchard 2/3 falls match on youtube that is insane.
anarchistxx
Have we got the full Kobashi/Kikuchi vs Can-Am's yet? Remember being talk of it airing in entirety a while back.
JerryvonKramer
Brisco has a ton of these. See my Microscope thread for more. Jack Brisco vs vs Terry Funk (03/26/76) -- really excellent, you can tell this was a great match with great psychology, despite the clipping. Jack Brisco vs Edourd Carpentier (04/04/75) -- one of the most mind-blowing clipped matches I've ever seen. Jack Brisco vs Bill Watts (09/13/75) -- not sure if it's clipped, but everyone needs to see this for Watts's commentary. Jack Brisco vs Harley Race (11/09/73) -- looks terrific from what we get Race has a few too (again see Microscope): Harley Race vs. Terry Funk (4/7/78) -- not as good as that Brisco one though Harley Race vs. Ted DiBiase (1/79) -- this one looks like a GREAT match from what we see
JaymeFuture
Have we got the full Kobashi/Kikuchi vs Can-Am's yet? Remember being talk of it airing in entirety a while back. First one that came to mind for me too.
Phil Schneider
Don't you two have google? https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3KOvSvhxoRk
NintendoLogic
Yeah, they released the full match when Kobashi retired. Anyway, my pick would be the 1985 Lawler/Dundee LLT match.
khawk20
Gagne-Brunzell vs. Martel and Santana, first match (7/18/82). We've only ever seen 8 minutes of that 28 minute match. (This was the one before the Dropkick of Death rematch), and what we saw was an all-action scientific tour-de-force. Seconded on the rest of the AWA material, so many good matches clipped like that. I've always tried to be happy that any of it survived and was saved, even that it aired on the tv shows back in the day....but yeah, it's frustrating to think about. rzombie1988
There are some FMW lucharesu trios matches on their anniversary shows that looked good. Sasuke looked amazing in them. NintendoLogic
Speaking of the AWA, does the 9/29/85 Jumbo/Martel match exist in complete form? I've only seen the JIP version on Youtube.
khawk20
Speaking of the AWA, does the 9/29/85 Jumbo/Martel match exist in complete form? I've only seen the JIP version on Youtube. If it's the same version I have, I've estimated we're only missing a couple of minutes from the beginning of the match but I don't believe it's ever aired "complete". Smack2k
Speaking of the AWA, does the 9/29/85 Jumbo/Martel match exist in complete form? I've only seen the JIP version on Youtube. This is one I have wanted in full forever...but I also agree this match hasnt been going long as the commentary even mentions things happening "Very early", but Martel has worked up a sweat so still could be missing a few minutes, but what we get is really really good and very enjoyable Flair vs Nikita Bash 85 was a really good clipped match (the heat was really good)..but now in full I third the AWA Talk, so many great matches clipped up and what we see is amazing
Rocco
Does a full version of Flair/Bockwinkel from Winnipeg exist?
Smack2k
THAT is a great clipped match....I forgot about that...that match is great from what we get...and it is / was one of the 5 biggest dream matches for me
