anarchistxx
Every year it is just rematches of Wrestlemania with an extra stip. Running the same match at three straight PPVs is symptomatic of the boring, predictable ways they book feuds. They don't have anywhere enough interesting television material to justify such repetitiveness. If they booked non linear, intertwining, intelligent angles they could have a feud run for a few months whilst alternating the PPV matches. John Cena vs. Rusev Seth Rollins vs. Randy Orton Wrestlemania hangover's a bitch, huh? Yup. I don't doubt that Rollins/Orton will be a stellar contest. I'm trying to work out what kind of gimmick they'll slap on it though. Obviously, Rollins will be winning, but in a way that protects Orton. (BP)
Based solely on things Harper has thrown Ambrose through this week, I'm guessing a TLC with them on the card.
Matt D
Is there any real difference between this PPV and TLC? Maybe they can do a cage match and they don't have to do a Stairs match. WWE would be better off if they ran more hair vs hair matches and built that up as something important. I can't imagine Rollins vs Orton main eventing this. Fantastic
Maybe a triple threat for the Intercontinental Championship? Bryan/Ziggler/Sheamus, seems to be going that way, the Ziggler/Bryan stuff doesn't seem to be over yet, and Sheamus heeled on both guys on Raw. Also, Matt, does Orton have any hair worthy of that stip? I'm still waiting for the elusive Power Hair vs. Power Trunks match, where the Power Trunks wager losing would mean they have to stop wearing traditional wrestling trunks and switch to tights. anarchistxx
The emergence of 'gimmick' PPVs really devalues the stipulations themselves. Instead of being the necessary blowoff to a violent blood feud they are just arbitrary stipulations added to the match because the show demands it. You would expect them to phase them out now they aren't relying so heavily on traditional PPV buys and the boost in sales from a unique match, apparently not. Matt D
We've got too many bald guys. One thing they should be doing if they really want to increase the prestige of the IC/US titles is to have #1 contenders matches on PPVs. They could do that for the tag title too. The problem then is how to fill the month afterwards.
Loss
The hair match should be saved for when/if they ever want to turn Daniel Bryan heel. Him losing and changing completely ...
Fantastic
Also, since they've done away with the Elimination Chamber PPV, is there a possibility in this match making a comeback at the Extreme Rules PPV? My dream would be a #1 contender EC match for the WWE World Heavyweight title. Plenty of guys doing nothing in the upper card now that Cena and Bryan are busy building the secondary titles up. They most likely, if this match were to go ahead do: Roman Reigns vs. Big Show vs. Kane vs. Dean Ambrose vs. Bray Wyatt vs. Ryback
goodhelmet
I have no problem with Daniel Bryan having hair matches as long as he wins them. Like Butch Reed's dog collar or Wahoo's strap match... the Hair match can be Bryan's go to match. Daniel "The Barber" Bryan.
anarchistxx
The problem then is how to fill the month afterwards. Build the title match they have made in an interesting way. That means less random beatdowns and meaningless television matches, more actually constructing a storyline and giving some motivation and being creative. Fuck, Chris Jericho and Kane once had a match built around spilled coffee, using the incident to book a couple of weeks angle around mutilated Kane resenting smart mouth, pretty boy Chris Jericho. When was the last time someone put a bounty on someone else? When was the last time they shot on location, a brawl in a hotel or bar or out on the street? Why not have what appears to be a #1 Contender vs Champion situation start respectfully and then evolve into a blood feud with a bar stabbing or an obsession with a girlfriend and a crazy blowoff in a few months time? What happened to the 4 Horseman breaking Dusty's leg and his subsequent road to redemption? Maybe I just want different things out of wrestling than anyone else. goodhelmet
Roman Reigns vs. Big Show vs. Kane vs. Dean Ambrose vs. Bray Wyatt vs. Ryback I would take out Kane and put in Luke Harper or another workrate guy.. Other than that, I have no problem with this.

I agree that Extreme Rules just being a better version of WrestleMania is annoying, however doing three stright ppvs is not a bad thing. Vince Sr. used to book MSG title programs one way. 3 straight matches at the Garden. It worked wonderfully then and still could work today. Loss
While the rematches are not great, it is highly preferable to the one-and-done matchmaking that was the norm until the Jericho-Michaels feud.
anarchistxx
While the rematches are not great, it is highly preferable to the one-and-done matchmaking that was the norm until the Jericho-Michaels feud. Don't think you can really describe it as 'the norm'. HHH vs Batista and JBL vs John Cena both dragged on for multiple PPVs in 2005. Wrestlemania feuds in particular tended to end in repeat matches. Rematches aren't a bad thing in themselves, it would just be better to run them at alternative PPVs, ala Kurt Angle vs Shawn Michaels - where they are kept busy with other stuff while the main feud is still bubbling underneath. It is also fine in situations like Eddie vs Rey where they introduce something to make the feud more hate filled and bring it up a level aka the custody of Dominic. That would require some long term planning and creativity. At the minute they tend to run so many repetitive segments on television hyping the same feuds. Dylan Waco
Not good for Rusev. Orton is his best possible opponent at this point and Orton will come out of the Rollins feud needing a win. Which means this is almost assuredly the end of the Rusev run unless they pull something completely unexpected out of their ass. On the plus side the match with Cena should be good. Will be interested to see if Harper can get Ambrose back on track. Seems like Lucha Dragons v. Cesaro/Kidd is in the works, as well as Naomi v. Nikki Bella. I actually have a lot of interest in both of those matches, so that's good. My guess is they do a Barrett v. Bryan v. Sheamus v. Ziggler match for the I-C title. I absolutely hate that, but it seems to be what they are building to, and I like all four guys, so maybe they can have the rare really good multi-man match. I assume they are doing Ryback v. Show, which is actually not the worst use of show if they are insistent on having him on t.v. at this point. Miz v. Mizdow is also a given and should probably have good heat if nothing else. Could see Prime Time Players v. The New Day being a pre-show match. Absolutely terrified about what the build for that will look like. I don't care for the guy, but it will be interesting to see where they plug Bray Wyatt into all of this.
anarchistxx
Roman Reigns needs a big singles match, or he risks just rolling down the roster and becoming another guy. Is there any chance they might have Randy Orton win the title and open up fresh matches for him with Brock Lesnar and Rusev? Otherwise what can they do with him. Dylan Waco
I forgot about Reigns which tells you all you need to know about his portrayal. He will get Show or Kane. Or they will do Ryback/Reigns v. Show/Kane. Sadly I'm not kidding. I think those are the only scenarios for him. But that's what happens when you are a target for assassination
conker8
Rusev vs Reigns with 3 weeks build? Edit : nevermind. Edited April 1, 2015 by conker8
Matt D
I still argue that Reigns going over Show one month and then Kane the next is better than him having no-contests and bs losses against Rollins for a few months.
Loss
I feel like if they really care about rehabbing Reigns, he needs to be put with workrate opponents every single month with the agents trying to craft a MOTY. There's a (false) perception that he can't really work, and that's the type of thing that will eventually overcome everything else. It would create a groundswell of support around him if he was having a ****+ match every big show.
slackermillionaire
I think the big problem coming out of Wrestlemania is there are too many guys on the roster right now who need wins, Rusev, Wyatt, Reigns, all need wins. I think they are going to run Big Show vs Reigns in the last man standing match which was the rumoured main event of Fastlane. I dont see Cena dropping back the belt soon because they have made merch for him and the USA Title which is a shame because I fear Rusev may suffer the same fate as Wyatt did last year. I really hope they do Ziggler vs Sheamus and Bryan vs Barrett instead of a 4 way, setting up Sheamus and Bryan for the next ppv, but I can see them doing the four way due to time constraints and than still running Bryan vs Sheamus on the next ppv. Lucha dragons vs Cesaro/Kidd could be a lot of fun and it is going to help Kalisto alot being paired up with a world class base like Cesaro to get over on the main roster, Who is there Wyatt to face? Ryback? I could see them perhaps going the Wyatt vs Reigns route but it is too early for that after both their losses coming out of Mania. Matt D
Then they should put Harper over Ambrose to build him up so he can be fed to Reigns and make him look good? Man, WWE's a mess when it comes to this. If Henry hadn't come back as a quasi-face, they could feed him to Reigns and that'd probably be good.
