Championship Wrestling from Florida

Taped: July 6, 1983, Air Date: July 9, 1983

[0:00 – 0:01]

Gordon Solie welcomes us to an exciting edition of Championship Wrestling from Florida, a show which will feature without doubt one of the hottest wrestlers in the world, Roddy Piper, taking on Mark Youngblood, newcomer and youngster Curt Hennig squaring off against Ron Sexton, along with Terry Gibbs stepping in to the ring with the sadistic Mark Lewin, and a host of others. We can also expect to hear from “The American Dream” Dusty Rhodes, “The Prince of Darkness” Kevin Sullivan, and the future of the Florida Heavyweight title and US Tag Team titles will be addressed by legendary Floridian wrestler and promoter, Eddie Graham.

Gordon Solie then introduces his special broadcast partner for the evening, “Cowboy” Ron Bass, who says he’s delighted to be here and looks forward to getting a front row seat to scout the competition in Florida. He also says he is very interested in hearing what Graham has to say regarding the Florida Heavyweight title and implies the belt will be around his waist sooner rather than later. Bass continues by stating Florida is home to the world’s premier wrestlers, none more so than the “Cowboy”.

[0:01 – 0:08]

Match 1: Curt Hennig vs. Ron Sexton

Hennig is seen slapping hands with some of the fans at ringside as the introductions take place. He slides in the ring and is jumped by Sexton to kick things off. Hennig seamlessly asserts his superiority in the match with a flurry of arm drags and dropkicks. The crowd pop and seem very receptive to the pace and finesse on display. Solie discusses how Hennig was perhaps the most sought after top prospect in all of wrestling, and was fielding offers from numerous organisations from around the world, before choosing Florida above all the others. A dazed Sexton swings aimlessly towards Hennig but the youngster is able to duck and transition into a belly to back suplex. He then nails a downed Sexton with a knee drop. Clutching his face, but back on his feet, Hennig finishes Sexton off with a bridging cradle suplex, which is enough for the three count. The crowd pop big for the newcomer as he is announced the winner.

WINNER: Curt Hennig [4:23]

As Hennig celebrates with the fans, Solie talks about how we might have just seen the birth of a future star. Ron Bass refutes these claims by saying anyone can pick up a win on a given night, and there was nothing in Hennig’s performance to suggest he’ll be a legitimate threat going forward. Solie says he doesn’t know if he agrees with that assessment, before welcoming Hennig over for an interview.

Hennig’s response to Solie’s line of questioning about his status as the top prospect in the world of wrestling is a humble one, as he talks about the competitive nature of wrestling being like no other sport. If he is a top prospect then it stands to reason that he should want to compete against the very best the world has to offer, and that is right here in Florida, namedropping Dusty Rhodes, Roddy Piper and Manny Fernandez as examples of that.

Ron Bass, much like his criticisms of Hennig’s performance during the match, takes exception to these comments, saying he’s forgotten about Florida’s biggest star, before shouting “ME!”. Bass continues by telling Hennig he needs to hit a lot harder if he wants to be successful in the big time, while also accusing his bridging cradle suplex of being loose, saying a stronger opponent could have easily broken out. He finishes by stating: “If that was me out there, I would have done things differently, a lot differently.”

Hennig responds: “Yeah, you probably would have lost the match”, before taking Bass’s cowboy hat and throwing it to one side, which the crowd love. Hennig leaves with a smile on his face as an irate Bass contemplates going after him, before eventually deciding to retrieve his cowboy hat. When he returns, he screams at Gordon Solie, telling him he’ll be in action next week. He hopes Curt Hennig will be watching, as he’ll get to see what a real wrestler looks like.

As we return from commercial, the “Prince of Darkness” Kevin Sullivan can be seen lurking the ringside area while his follower, “The Purple Haze” Mark Lewin, stands inside the ring. The announcer introduces the combatants for the next match as Solie refers to Sullivan as “sadistic, devious and very, very dangerous.”

Match 2: “The Purple Haze” Mark Lewin vs. Terry Gibbs

This lacked the initial back and forth action of the opening contest but wasn’t a complete squash. Gibbs was allowed flurries of offence but ultimately they amounted to nothing as the larger Lewin neutralised his opponent with a series of stiff forearm strikes and knees to the neck of Gibbs. Lewin then whipped Gibbs to the ropes and, upon his return, locked in the sleeper hold. Lewin lets out an elongated scream while vehemently shaking Gibbs back and forth from one side to another, all without relinquishing his grip of the sleeper hold. Eventually, he slides to the canvas as it becomes clear Gibbs has passed out. The bell rings to signal the end of the match but Lewin doesn’t budge. Solie doesn’t know if Lewin is aware of the bell ringing or if he simply wants to inflict more punishment on Gibbs, noting that it’s probably the latter.

Kevin Sullivan climbs into the ring. For a brief moment, he admires the work of Lewin. Solie is angered at the sight of blood haemorrhaging from Gibbs’ mouth as Sullivan grips the head of Lewin with both hands, who releases the sleeper hold upon command. Solie expresses his concern for Gibbs and states that officials may be needed to treat him as Sullivan and Lewin exit the ring.

WINNER: Mark Lewin [3:01]

The pair make their way over to the announcers desk, much to Solie’s discomfort. Sullivan talks while Lewin stand over Solie. He points to the ring and says that’s “just a small taste of destruction”. He references the “Army of Darkness” before asking Solie if he’s ever seen a two man army, because he hasn’t either. The pair leave Solie to speculate who or what could be joining this frightening duo, calling them possibly “the most dangerous threat to ever step foot in Florida wrestling.”

We return from commercial and Gordon Solie expresses his delight at welcoming legendary Florida performer Eddie Graham to the show. Graham looks Solie dead in the eyes and says that both of them have had long and fruitful careers in the wrestling business and have travelled the world over. He says there is no territory in the entire world that can boast the same level of competition presented here in Florida. Solie agrees. Following the restructuring of the National Wrestling Alliance, he has reached a resolution which has seen both the Florida Heavyweight title and the US Tag Team titles vacated. Wearing those titles around your waist signifies you are the best at what you do in your respective division, says Graham. He acknowledges the importance and prestige of the titles, and says because of their reverence, CWF will not rush the crowning of a new champion. A lot of changes have been made in the wrestling world in recent times, and Graham says that in Florida they do things the right way. There will be no half ass battle royal to declare new champions, nor will there be any automatic contenders. He says reputation can go a long way in this sport, but every single wrestler will have to prove themselves over again if they want to wear gold around here. Eventually, new champions will be determined in the form of a tournament, where every spot is up for grabs. He concludes by saying he is paying special attention to each and every match taking place from tonight onwards, as a win will boost a wrestler’s chance of qualifying for the tournament, and a loss could send them straight to the bottom of the pack.

[28:00 – 35:00]

Match 3: Johnny Weaver vs. John Bonello

An exciting back and forth match designed to showcase the abilities of Johnny Weaver, who, at 48 years old, proves he can still go. Solie says that he was speaking to Weaver before the show and he told him he believes he still has one final run left in him. With Eddie Graham’s announcement still fresh in the mind, Solie speculates whether Weaver is capable of shocking everyone and becoming the next Florida Heavyweight champion. The story of the match is built around Weaver trying to lock in the Weaver Lock, with Bonello continually thwarting his opponents attempts at the submission. The fans are firmly behind Weaver as he counters Bonello’s attempts at a body slam and wriggles behind him, again going for the Weaver Lock. The crowd pop big but Bonello charges forward into the ropes to break the hold. However, Weaver uses the momentum to execute a roll up, which gets the three count.

WINNER: Johnny Weaver [5:59]

[35:00 – 39:00]

Commercials and local house show advertisements

[39:00 – 42:00]

“The American Dream” Dusty Rhodes is in the house to talk about the announcement from Eddie Graham surrounding the Florida Heavyweight title. He says he’s held the gold a grand total of 12 times, more than anyone else in the history of Florida wrestling. But, he adds, the gold has been absent from his waist for the last three years. He talks about being NWA World Heavyweight Champion during that time and says it was a great honor to represent the sport of professional wrestling, but now he is returning to his roots, and there is no title that means more to him than the Florida Heavyweight title. Not only is Florida the number one place for wrestling, but it’s also his home. He’s not making any assumptions and doesn’t want his reputation to trump equality, but right now he wants to become the first man to express his desire of becoming Florida Heavyweight champion once again, and will defeat anyone and everyone that tries to stop him. Short, simple, but effective from The Dream.

[42:00 – End of show]

Solie briefly recaps what we have seen so far on the show before welcoming a man who “treads the fine line between controversy and brilliance”, Roddy Piper. Dressed ready for in-ring action, Solie welcomes Piper back to Florida and asks him about his upcoming opponent Mark Youngblood, and whether a win would stake his claim as a contender for the Florida Heavyweight title. Piper is animated when he calls Youngblood a hungry young lion, but says he hasn’t eaten today and can guarantee his hunger is far greater than Youngblood’s. As far as the Florida Heavyweight title is concerned, Piper says he doesn’t care about being the “quote, top dog”, complete with air quotes, but being the champion does have its perks. You see, the man who wears the gold collects the biggest pay checks, and that’s something that does interest him. Solie calls Piper “complex” and notes the fans are unsure how to take to him. Piper says he doesn’t do this for fan approval, and “it doesn’t matter whether they boo or cheer, because there’s only one Roddy Piper, and no one can change who I am.”

MAIN EVENT: Roddy Piper vs. Mark Youngblood

Piper looks lax as the pair lock up. Youngblood immediately sends Piper to the mat with an arm drag, which raises a smile from Piper, perhaps a moment of realisation. They continue the early exchanges with back and forth action at a brisk pace, with lots of whips and counters. Youngblood traps Piper in an arm lock but Piper scurries to the ropes and slides to the outside. He exchanges a few words with some fans in the front row, pointing towards Youngblood while talking. He stands on the apron and again turns to the fans, but Youngblood capitalises by pulling the ropes forward, launching Piper into the ring. Youngblood delivers a multitude of shots to the face, each of which send Piper to the mat. Youngblood’s lack of variation allows Piper to telegraph a punch and duck, nailing Youngblood with a clothesline as he turns around. Piper momentarily applies a chin lock before delivering a series of forearm strikes to the side of the head and neck. He whips Youngblood to the turnbuckle before doing a ten punch spot, which many of the fans start to get behind. Piper comes down off the second rope and hits a bulldog. This draws a near fall. Piper lifts Youngblood to his feet. He surprises the Scotsman with a school boy pin attempt, but it’s not enough for three. He then attempts three more pin variations in quick succession. This draws the ire of Piper who nails Youngblood with another clothesline, this one doubly devastating than the first. Piper then hits an impressive suplex before covering Youngblood. 1 . . . 2 . . . 3 . . .

WINNER: Roddy Piper [8:12]

Piper raises both arms in the air as he is announced the winner. He looks down at a beaten Youngblood before leaving the ring and heading backstage. Solie thanks fans for tuning in and is about to conclude his wrap up when the “Prince of Darkness” Kevin Sullivan and “The Purple Haze” Mark Lewin return to the ringside area. They climb into the ring and stand over Youngblood who is yet to fully recover from his match. He gets to his feet and stares down the two men. Cornered, Youngblood turns away before charging towards Sullivan, managing to get a few shots in before Lewin grabs him and the pair begin a two on one assault. They continue the beat down. Sullivan retrieves a spike from his tights and prepares to lacerate Youngblood. Meanwhile, the noise from the crowd flips from boos to screams as Roddy Piper charges back into the ring with purpose. He ducks a strike from Lewin and clotheslines him out of the ring, while Sullivan flees of his own accord. The Army of Darkness quickly retreat as a fired up Piper dares them to return. He kneels over Youngblood as the crowd scream with joy.

Solie condemns the actions of Sullivan and puts over Roddy Piper’s save as CWF fades to black.

I actually had the time of each interview & segment on my original notes but I didn't see anyone else doing it so I took it out when I posted my TV. I actually think it helped me keep the show tight and focused.

This is really good introductory show. You introduced your most important new talent and Piper vs. Sullivan definitely sounds interesting.

I had thought about putting time stamps on my show like I did on my booking too, but went the other direction. Still not sure as to a finalized format for my TV, but I like what I've read from other people more than mine so far. It'll likely be an amalgam when all is said and done. I enjoyed Piper as the prickish babyface as well as the Sullivan/Army stuff. Hennig looks to be a guy to watch.

Good first week, will be interested in where the Piper-Sullivan feud goes, like both these guys a lot. Much like Beast said, be interesting to see where Rhodes fits in, but I think ultimately he's have Sullivan coming after him if he's gets passed Piper.

Championship Wrestling from Florida

Taped: July 13, 1983, Air Date: July 16, 1983

[0:00 - 0:01]

Gordon Solie and Buddy Colt welcome us to another exciting edition of Championship Wrestling from Florida, where a wealth of familiar names will be in action, including the much anticipated return of 3-time Florida Heavyweight Champion, Bob Roop. We will also see “Cowboy” Ron Bass step into the ring just seven days removed from his embarrassment at the hands of Curt Hennig. All of this, plus a host of others. Solie is then very proud to introduce their guest announcer for the show, none other than the “American Dream” himself, Dusty Rhodes. Dusty says the pleasure is all his, before segueing straight to the first match.

[0:01 – 0:09]

Match 1: “Cowboy” Ron Bass vs. Mark Fleming

Bass looks understandably annoyed after his antics backfired on him last week. Dusty jokes that he promises he’ll stay for the entire broadcast, unlike Bass who stormed off after the opening bout. The match starts hot with Fleming attempting a number of takedowns and submission holds, but not finding much success as Bass neutralises the threat with some clubbing forearm strikes. Solie notes that Fleming is not to be taken lightly, having been trained by the legendary Lou Thesz. He says Bass would be smart to end this match early as Fleming, a well-conditioned athlete, may come into his own the longer it goes. Fleming, whipped against the ropes, fires back with an attempted Lou Thesz press. However, Bass manages to keep both feet planted on the ground, and instead is able to transition into an inverted suplex slam. He stalks over Fleming and mocks him by placing his foot on top of Fleming’s head before pushing it away. He turns to the hard camera and shouts “This is what I’m gonna do to you, hotshot”, clearly a reference to Hennig, before lifting Fleming up in the air and dropping him on his head. All three men in the booth wince as Bass covers Fleming for the three count.

WINNER: “Cowboy” Ron Bass [5:21]

Despite picking up the win, Bass is not finished as he retrieves his bull rope and starts to whip Fleming in the back, causing further damage to his already injured neck. In the announce booth, Rhodes is furious, and says he’s going to have to do something to stop this. But before he can act, a fired up Curt Hennig storms to the ring and charges towards Bass, sending both the crowd and commentary booth wild. Bass slides out of the ring head first. Hennig attempts to grab his leg but can’t get a suitable grip. Bass hastily walks away, still clutching the bull rope, and shouts in Hennig’s direction, saying he needs to earn his way to the top. He teases heading back to the ring, but thinks better of it and leaves the studio, much to the crowd’s displeasure.

[0:09 – 0:13]

Commercials and local house show advertisements

[0:13 – 0: 21]

Solie, Colt and Dusty reflect on what they have just seen. Dusty puts over Hennig by saying his fire and spirit is reminiscent of a young “American Dream”, and it’ll only be a matter of time before he gets his hands on Ron Bass. Colt calls that quite a statement, before both he and Solie concur.

Match 2: The Fantastic Ones vs. Frank Williams and Ron Sexton

Nothing but a showcase match for The Fantastic Ones, Bobby Fulton and Terry Taylor, who are visiting from Mid South. The commentators spend the majority of the match talking about the future of the US Tag Titles. Currently vacant, Solie tells us how new champions will be crowned in a tournament that will feature only the best tag teams from around the world. He says The Fantastic Ones are a great example of this, and must surely be considered one of the frontrunners for the tournament. Fulton gets the pinfall over Williams after a flying clothesline for the victory.

WINNERS: The Fantastic Ones [5:35]

Following the match, the camera focuses on an elderly man sitting in the front row of the crowd. He is wearing a flamboyant jacket and wielding a cane. Solie says that he recognises that man and has reason to believe his presence could have far reaching implications for Florida wrestling. He says he hopes to question the man after the break.

[0:21 – 0:24]

Commercials and local house show advertisements

[0:24 – 0:27]

We return from commercial and standing alongside Gordon Solie is none other than “Classy” Freddie Blassie. He introduces Blassie as being one of the most revered yet feared managers in the world and asks what brings him to Florida. Blassie says he’s simply here to enjoy the show, before laughing. He calls Solie a pencil neck geek, but acknowledges he is far from a stupid man. He says he moved to Florida hoping to retire, but soon discovered the itch to return to wrestling,. More specifically, the money and lavish lifestyle it helps facilitate. He says he has created more rich men in the wrestling world than anyone else, and has a manager's permit and contract ready to be signed by the next guy looking to shoot straight to the top. Today, he says, is a scouting assignment. He's on the lookout for the next budding star ready to be moulded into a Heavyweight champion. He's looking for someone vicious, someone savage, someone with no regard whatsoever for the wellbeing of their opponent. Over the forthcoming weeks, don't be surprised to see him in attendance, observing the action. He also tells Solie that, should he be spotted, not to bother him again until he is ready to announce his new client. Blassie leaves and Dusty warns us that he is a man not to be trusted.

[0:27 – 0:36]

Match 3: Mike Shaw vs. Iron Mike Sharpe

Solie introduces the two men by highlighting the parallels behind their Canadian backgrounds, noting the size advantage of Shaw against the experience edge of Sharpe. The match begins with some fun back and forth action, with Sharpe targeting Shaw’s right leg in an attempt to ground the strong youngster. The commentators discuss how Shaw often relies on the legdrop to put away his opponents, so it’s sound strategy on the part of Sharpe to target the leg. Colt informs us that Sharpe “always does his homework”. As Sharpe asserts control of the match, we are joined by two unwelcome guests in the form of the “Prince of Darkness” Kevin Sullivan and the “Purple Haze” Mark Lewin, collectively known as the “Army of Darkness”. They each circle opposite ends of the ring, with their eyes seemingly fixated on Iron Mike Sharpe. This distracts Sharpe who is too busy mouthing off at Sullivan that he forgets about his opponent. When Sharpe turns around, Shaw is already charging towards him, crushing Sharpe in the corner with a body avalanche. As Sharpe slowly stumbles to the mat, Shaw picks him up for a scoop power slam. He contemplates going for the leg drop, but hesitates due to the damage Sharpe had previously inflicted on the right leg. Instead, he simply hits a big running splash which is enough for victory.

Winner: Mike Shaw [6:07]

The referee raises Shaw’s arm in the air. In the background, Sullivan and Lewin have climbed into the ring, unbeknownst to Shaw. Meanwhile, Iron Mike Sharpe uses the ring ropes to drag himself up to his feet. It looks as though the three men are getting ready to attack Shaw, but instead Lewin delivers a swift kick to Sharpe’s mid-section and throws him to the outside. By this point, Shaw is aware of the situation. In an eerily similar situation to last week, Shaw prepares for a fight. However, Sullivan instead approaches Shaw and begins whispering into his ear. He grabs his head with both arms as the whispers become incomprehensible shouts. Sullivan and Lewin then exit the ring and leave the arena through a side door, leaving Shaw shaken, but not harmed. After a few moments, Shaw also heads for the exit, the same one as the Army of Darkness.

[0:36 – 0:39]

Commercials and local house show advertisements

[0:39 – 0:43]

Solie, Colt and Dusty reflect on what we have just seen, before talking about the NWA Florida Heavyweight title. Solie reminds us about Eddie Graham’s announcement from last week, and how a new champion will be crowned via tournament, though no one is guaranteed a spot and everyone is starting on an even playing field. Dusty Rhodes reminds everyone about the other big announcement from last week, where he became the first man to state his intention of entering the tournament and becoming the new Florida Heavyweight champion. Solie says he would be a great representative for Florida wrestling, as he has been many times in the past. But, he adds, Florida is home to the greatest talents in the world and it certainly won’t be easy. This allows them to segue into discussing the returning Bob Roop, who will no doubt be another contender for the title, especially if he can pick up a win tonight over the resurgent Johnny Weaver. Colt adds that Weaver cannot be discounted either.

[0:43 – End of show]

Main Event: Bob Roop vs. Johnny Weaver

A fun matchup between the returning Roop and veteran Weaver. It begins with Roop exercising his superior wrestling ability, using his amateur background to trap Weaver in a multitude of holds. Every time Weaver is able to force a rope break or escape of his own accord, Roop immediately follows up with a takedown, bringing the match back to square one. This infuriates the crowd who look to galvanise Weaver. He fights back with some shots before whipping Roop into the ropes. When he returns, Weaver goes for the Weaver Lock, and manages to succeed in applying the hold. However, Roop, perhaps out of desperation more than anything else, forces both of their bodies to move backwards, causing them both to fall through the ropes and to the outside. They sell the fall as both struggle to get up. When they do, Weaver attempts a clothesline but Roop ducks, causing the top of Weaver’s arm and shoulder to crash into the ring post. Roop then hoists Weaver overhead and connects with an impressive looking shoulder breaker. He then rolls back into the ring and encourages the referee to continue his count. At the count of eight, Weaver is back onto his feet, but the pain in his shoulder is too much and he can’t force himself into the ring in time, leaving the referee with no choice but to call for the bell.

WINNER: Bob Roop (via count out) [9:45]

As Roop is declared victorious, he makes his way over to the commentary desk to be interviewed by Solie. Roop says the reason he’s returned to Florida is because he was promised two things; competition and money. You see, if you want to make the most money, you have to come to where the biggest names in the industry are plying their trade. He thought that was Florida, but after seeing the competition on show, Roop says he is extremely underwhelmed. He was promised the best of the best, but all he can see is old, fat men like Johnny Weaver, and old, fat men like this one sitting here, pointing at Dusty Rhodes. Dusty immediately rises to his feet and the pair go face to face. They start shouting over each other. Roop takes the first swing as the punches start to roll. Roop manages to knee Rhodes right in the gut, before he throws him over the commentary table, face first into the chair he had previously been sitting on. Roop then lunges over the table and lays in some vicious strikes to the face. He gets up and leaves as Colt and Solie attempt to treat a wounded Dusty Rhodes. Roop returns and climbs on to the table with outstretched arms. The show goes off the air with Roop standing over a bloody Dusty Rhodes.

-Commercial Break-

Gordon Solie: welcome back to Championship Wrestling '83. Let's go now to the ring for our first match.

'Purple Haze' Mark Lewin vs Johnny Weaver

Motley Crue's Red Hot plays as both Purple Haze and Kevin Sullivan come down to the ring. Fans are booing them both heavily.

Johnny Weaver is pacing in the ring waiting for the match to start.

Beginning: Weaver and Lewin both lay into each with a house of fire. Weaver smacks Lewin's chest and vice versa.

Middle: Lewin gains control of the match. He viciously piledrives Weaver twice in the ring and knocking him out.

End: Lewin pins Johnny Weaver for the win @ 6:40

We see Kevin Sullivan hand something to Purple Haze through the ring ropes. Lewin cuts the letter X into the forehead of Johnny Weaver.

He then closes Weaver's eyes and places two pennies over them.

Gordon Solie: what a disgusting display by Kevin Sullivan and Purple Haze. well unfortauntely they seem to be headed over here to my desk.

hqdefault_zpsw5aybsen.jpg

Gordon: why did you guys do that to Johnny Weaver?

Kevin: hahahaha its very simple. We did it because we hate his stinking guts.

Purple Haze: Johnny Weaver will know what it means to be humble. You see the Chairman of the Board isn't very happy with Weaver or any one of these glad handers.

Haze: the chairman offered Weaver a high ranking position here in the Army. He could've been somebody with us.

Kevin: This could all be avoided if he gets down on his hands and knees and begs for forgiveness from The Chairman.

Gordon: you've recently had your troubles with Roddy Piper. what do you have to say about him?

Kevin Sullivan: Roddy Piper will learn very soon why you don't mess with me. My master the chairman himself has taught me all his tricks and I ain't afraid to hurt people.

Gordon; Who exactly is the Chairman of the Board?

Kevin: That will be revealed in due time Mr Solie. Right now is not the right time for Mr Chairman to show his face just yet.

Gordon: ladies and gentlemen don't go away we'll be back after these words.

-Commercial Break-

Gordon Solie: welcome back to Championship Wrestling '83. Let's now bring out promoter Eddie Graham to discuss the latest regarding the Florida title tournament.

820407_solie_graham_zpszbgdent1.jpg

Gordon Solie: Eddie what is the latest regarding the tournament for the Florida Heavyweight title that has been in the works for some time?

Eddie Graham: I have signed 10 of our top stars here in Florida. The following names are Dusty Rhodes, Kevin Sullivan, Roddy Piper, Mark Lewin, Bob Roop, Angelo Mosca, Manny Fernandez, Curt Hennig, Brian Blair & Johnny Weaver. We here in the state of Florida value athletics.

Gordon: boy howdy talk about a who's who in pro wrestling.

Eddie: Those tournament matches will take place starting next week and go for the next few weeks. I will have the list of matches available to you fans next week.

Gordon: should be outstanding. Let's go now to the ring for our next match.

Ron Bass/Ricky Harris vs Ron Sexton/Buck Ramstead

We see both Sexton and Ramstead in the ring awaiting their opponents with smiles on their faces

ronbass2200x250_zpsbijypa4b.jpgBlack20Bart_zps0fj6v831.jpg

Ron Bass and Ricky Harris walk over to the desk

Ron Bass: those boys are pretty dang confidant are they

Ricky Harris: They gonna get a whooping like they ain't ever had before!

Ron Bass: we are the number one tag team here in Florida. No one can stop us from putting a hurting on anyone!

Ricky Harris; haha nobody can beat us! We gonna steamroll over the competition

Ron Bass: It's whooping time. C'mon Ricky let's roll!

Bass and Harris run in and just pummel both Sexton and Ramstead

the referee finally is able to get them separated and to their corners as he calls for the bell to ring

Beginning: Bass piledrives Ron Sexton which lays him out for a minute

Middle: Harris hits a nasty lariat on the newly tagged in Buck Ramstead.

End: Bass hits a devastating looking Gourdbuster on Ramstead. He rolls him up for the win for his team @ 8:18

all of a sudden we see Jack Brisco and Jerry Brisco run down to the ring and smack both Bass and Harris around with steel chairs

we see Ron Bass and Ricky Harris laid out in the ring as they are laying lifeless

Gordon: brother what a devastating attack by Jack and Jerry on Ron Bass and Ricky Harris

Buddy Colt: there was certainly no call for something like that. We didn't even know they were here.

brisco-brothers.jpg

Gordon Solie: Jack what brings you and Jerry back to the state of Florida?

Jack Brisco: well we heard those two loud mouth cowboys say they were the best and nobody could beat them

Jerry Brisco: Ain't nobody better here in Florida than me and Jack. We are still the greatest tag team to ever compete here in Florida.

Gordon: why use a chair on them?

Jack Brisco: well Gordon we had to use an equalizer to send a message. My brother Jerry and I have mastered the art of professional wrestling. Our ring record speaks for itself as we've both won just about every title imaginable.

Jerry Brisco: Ron and Ricky don't know how to wrestle. They only know how to bar room brawl.

Jack Brisco: I've been in plenty of bar room brawls over the years. I ain't ever seen the day when I couldn't put an Oklahoma sized whooping on a couple of bar room brawlers.

Jerry: They're gonna run outta gas and be blown up. We'll mop up the floor with 'em as their tongues all hanging out.

Jack: They won't be able to even fight let alone wrestle. These two don't know anything about wrestling in the first place.

Gordon Solie: we'll be back after these messages!

-Commercial Break-

Gordon Solie: welcome back to Championship Wrestling '83. Let's now go to the ring for the next match.

Motley Crue's Red Hot plays as Kevin Sullivan and 'Purple Haze' Mark Lewin come to ringside

Bob Roop is seen pacing in the ring waiting for the match to start.

Kevin Sullivan vs Bob Roop

Beginning: Sullivan lays in a beating on Bob Roop.He screams at him something we can't quite make out.

Middle: Roop tries to make a comeback to no avail. Sullivan continues to punish him.

End: Sullivan locks Roop in the tree of woe (figure four leglock). Roop submits at the 10:35 mark.

Sullivan after the match has Bob Roop in a headlock. the referee tries to get him to break the hold.

Sullivan and Lewin make a hasty exit as we see Dusty Rhodes run down to try to help Roop get revived

Bob Roop comes to and looks up and thinks that it was Dusty who had the headlock on him

Dusty tries to explain to him that he came down to try to help him.

Gordon: Dusty and Roop are certainly no friends. Dusty came down here to help Roop because it was the right thing to do.

Bob Roop doesn't listen to reason from anyone. He hits Dusty with a pair of brass knux hidden in his trunks.

the younger fans are bawling their eyes out as Dusty is attended to by the referee and several wrestlers

Bob Roop comes over to the announce desk to talk to Gordon Solie.

Gordon Solie: Bob why did you hurt Dusty with those brass knux? All he was doing sir was trying to help you out.

Bob Roop: I don't need or want the help of that fat pig Dusty Rhodes at any time. I could be dying and I still don't want his help!

Gordon: Why exactly is that?

Bob Roop: I don't want that fatso's help. Dusty Rhodes you dirty yellow egg sucking dog better learn to stay outta my business!

Roop slams the microphone down as he heads to the locker room.

Gordon Solie: We'll be back after these commercials

-Commercial Break-

Buddy Colt: welcome back to Championship Wrestling '83. My colleague Gordon Solie is at ringside for an interview with Roddy Piper.

green grass of tyrol plays as Hot Rod Roddy Piper comes down to ringside to a huge amount of cheers

PIPERCWF_zpsbd60f5eb.jpg

Gordon Solie: Wherever Roddy goes he has a huge following of fans. He has recently been embroiled in a feud with Kevin Sullivan as of late.

Roddy Piper: Kevin Sullivan you are one deranged individual. You come out here talking about the Chairman of the Board said this, Chairman says that.

Roddy: well brother let's just see who your imaginary friend is. I think Sullivan is just a little goofy eh Gordon?

Gordon: well Roddy one can say that. You also have to agree he's been on a roll as of late.

Roddy: Sure he has. At what price though? He and that Purple Haze are two commie sickos who worship the devil.

Gordon: Roddy any thoughts about your participation in the upcoming Florida title tournament?

Roddy: I'm gonna win it. I'm never been beaten at anything! Not even at a game of tiddly winks.

Gordon: Well folks you talk about a brilliant young man who knows what he wants.

Roddy Piper enters the ring along with his opponent John Bonello

Roddy Piper vs John Bonello

Beginning: Piper takes Bonello to school in the ring. He just dissects his opponent.

Middle: Piper hits a high knee onto the face of John Bonello. Bonello is helpless as he tries without avail to make any kind of comeback.

End: Piper hits a devastating belly to back suplex on Bonello. He quickly covers him for the win @ 4:27

Gordon Solie: We've now got a VTR Segment with a man due to come his way here soon. That and after our commercial messages we will see if Dusty Rhodes is still able to wrestle or not.

VTR Segment..............................

angelomosca200x250.jpg

Angelo Mosca: Angelo Mosca! That is my name for those of you mentally defective halfwits who still don't know it.

Mosca: That Florida heavyweight title will be mine! Dusty Rhodes, Roddy Piper, Johnny Weaver, Manny Fernandez or anyone else will fall at my feet. Even that pretty boy punk Curt Hennig.

Mosca: I will be champion forever!

the VTR segment ends abruptly as we cut to a commercial.

-Commercial Break-

Gordon Solie: Gordon Solie: welcome back to Championship Wrestling '83. Let's now bring out Dusty Rhodes to discuss his condition.

hqdefault_zpswh2rzx8o.jpg

Gordon Solie: Dusty earlier in the show we saw you tried to help Bob Roop and got knocked out with brass knux in return.

Dusty Rhodes: I may be a little worse for wear. These fans though paid their hard earned money to be here to see their Ameircan Dream wrestle.

Dusty: Gordon these children are my sweet babies. I don't ever wanna see them with tears in their eyes ever again. I saw many of these kids crying their eyes out cuz their hero was down.

Gordon: Dusty you are part of that big Florida title tournament coming up next week. Any thoughts on that?

Dusty: Gordon you can rest assured that I will be Florida champion once again. That ain't bragging it is simply a fact.

Dusty: When I am on top of the mountain then I will focus on putting a hurting on Bobby Roop.

Dusty Rhodes gets in the ring for his match. We see Rip Rogers is already waiting in the ring.

Dusty Rhodes vs Rip Rogers

Beginning: Dusty easily takes Rogers to school in this wild out and out brawl

Gordon: Dusty has got to be probably visualizing Bob Roop and not Rip Rogers

Buddy: I would have to agree. Dusty is a house of fire as he lays into Rip Rogers

Middle: Dusty hits a diving crossbody onto Rip Rogers. He continues his assault on Rogers.

End: Dusty lands his patented Bionic Elbow on Rip Rogers. He pins him for the win @ 3:51

the show comes to a close as we see Dusty celebrating with his many fans.

Gordon: that's all the time we have for this week. so long from the sunshine state!

Good first show here. Nice use of pictures and felt pretty true to the 'feel' of a CWF show hosted by Gordon Solie. Your match write ups are different from the norm but there is nothing wrong with that, everyone brings their own writing style to this project.

I'm interested to see who The Chairman turns out to be. Pretty interesting decision on the way you decided to debut The Briscos, they definitely didn't come off like the good guys in that situation.

Poor Rip Rogers getting totally squashed in the main event. He coulda been a contender!

lol oh poor Rip.

Thanks for the kind words. You've been great at helping a newbie learn the ins and outs of this kinda thing.

The Brisco's will likely be a bit of a tweener tag team.

I can't wait either to let everyone know who The Chairman is.
