sek69
I'm no Striker fan, but I give him credit for doing what he could as everything was blowing up around him.
Coffey
I'm no Striker fan, but I give him credit for doing what he could as everything was blowing up around him. One of the "highlights" of the show was when the non-working audio did manage to pick up his audibly frustrated loud sigh into the mic. kjh
I enjoyed it even with the massive flaws. The audio was hideous. I'm in the same boat, though I watched the Spanish feed so I didn't have that problem. The Villanos strikes were embarrassing (but at least there was light contact, which is more than can be said for Togi Makabe at his worst) and III had no business being in a ring at this point, but I thought it was generally well laid out (better than the opener, which fell apart mid match) and had some decent high spots. sek69
It was rough when III took his mask off post match and you can see the effects the stroke had on his face.
Jmare007
My favorite part was Hugo calling it the "six nineteen!" To be fair, he always called it the "seis diecinueve" when he was in WWE. So I guess it makes sense he just translated that to english.
Tim Cooke
This show wasn't great but that's more on the way AAA runs matches, angles, etc. Thought the opener was fun. There have been many mixed Atomicos matches over the years (I believe they started roughly around 2002 with the Man/Woman/Mini/Exotico formula) and while this didn't stand out from the pack, it was still solid. Villanos match wasn't the worst thing I've ever seen but it certainly was below average. I dug the symbolism of the old guard great trios team versus AAA's new guard trios team. Cage match had some neat spots, especially the Super Mario World like climbing on the cage and the light fixture. Evans was great with his highspots. Paul and I were watching a bunch of Shane Helms in WCW this weekend and the way Helms and Moore bumped in early 2000 would have fit right in with this match. But too many people in this cage made for a pretty forgettable match. Blue Demon Jr. tag was interesting. Blue Demon worked very hard and when he was in with Electroshock, you would have thought Electroshock was actually competent. Waste of a match and way below the Blue Demon vs. Villano IV match from Rey de Reyes. Cage vs. Del Rio was fine for what it was. Del Rio was very over and the finish got a nice pop but Cage isn't any good and the build to this hair match wasn't good. Rey vs. Myzteziz was a solid match. I was somewhat disappointed since I probably has unreal expectations for it but there were many positives: - Myzteziz did a real nice job of being a good base for Rey - Rey brought out his usual energy and good move set - The match also built well and while I'm not usually a fan of "use your opponent's moves" as a big part of the match, it felt fine here, especially since it directly played into the finish. Negatives: - At least on the spanish feed of the iPPV, the match didn't have as much heat as Del Rio vs. Cage, which was disappointing. I still think a Rey Jr. vs. Myzteziz Mask vs. Mask match would be great. Also think a toned down Pentagon Jr. (i.e. - no rudo ref garbage, not so many weapons and tables) vs. Rey Jr. would be excellent.
kingliam
I ended up watching it and pretty much concur with a lot of the sentiment aimed at the show. It was pretty bad, as much as I willing to give the benefit of the doubt with regards to the feed issues. http://tvtimelimitremaining.co.uk/?p=384 Unfortunately, the formatting has gone a bit weird on some of the paragraphing - I'll look to try and fix it. TL; DR - a bad show, with the only good thing being a decent main event. Bad booking, sub-par action and awful audio issues just add up to a forgettable experience. sek69
So the SuperLuchas story on TripleMania here seems to suggest Villano III had a heart attack of some sort during the match (if my Spanish is correct). If so, that's pretty disturbing. Of course if it's some kind of kayfabe to explain why the match sucked so bad, that's almost worse in a way. cm funk
haven't seen the show (and don't want to) but it sounds like it was a total disaster. as far as AAA on PPV in the states goes.......I expect many people who actually ordered this show calling their cable companies demanding refunds. those cable companies can't be pleased with this..... can't wait for Konnan to try and spin this. for a guy who bashes WWE as much as he does, with all the "they're stupid, they do it wrong" shit.....AAA is so much worse tbh. They book like TNA or a shitty ECW.....and their big shows and attempts to get into the US market have been disastrous failures I like listening to the guy sometimes on MLW, he's entertaining, but he's such a bullshit artist and really not nearly as good or smart as he thinks he is. the proof is in the pudding. boom
dkookypunk43
My thoughts on the PPV Relevos Atómicos de Locura match- A very confusing match for a Lucha Novice like myself but harmless fun for a few minutes. **1/4 Vilanos vs. Psycho Circus- By God this is the worst match I've seen live. This was awful on every grading scale and I was really enthralled by the Circus entrance and then shit ensued. -****3/4 The 9 man cage ultimate x clusterfuck- This was the match I was looking forward to most and boy it disappointed me. It was an awful cluster of shitty spots and the cage took away the element that would have helped this match the most and that was the ropes. -** Mesias and Electroshock vs Blue Demon Jr. and La Parka- At least this was better than the last two. Nothing memorable and all of these guys are above 40 and it wasn't good but serviceable. *1/2 Cage vs Alberto- This was an OK brawl, after the clusterfucks we had to endure this was good. Still I think this would be a low end match on a WWE and NJPW ppv. **1/2 Rey Mysterio vs Myztizez- Even as good as this match was couldn't save this show. This was good but on a show where everything was less than three stars and it made it look better than it really was. Still memorable and was good for what it was but ****1/4 like I saw on one site is absurd. ***1/
