Sidebottom
I seem to remember reading something like this happening in the early 90's but for the life of me cannot remember anything more than this. Did it happen? Was anybody of note also there? What was it even for?

JaymeFuture
"Mean Gene of course talking about the videotape of WrestleMania going platinum. Treee-mendous". Â Hilarious balls to give himself this award then roll his eyes upon acceptance like he's too modest for it.

Loss
Didn't he also give himself an honorary degree I think from Harvard?
peachchaos
This is just incredible. Â The Fink introduces Mean Gene for a special surprise achievement award. Gene brings out Vince and his Stooges. The British Bulldogs come out with a HUGE plaque, I mean it literally takes both of the Bulldogs to even carry the thing to the ring. I really hope it's hanging somewhere in Titan Tower. So the surprise is revealed to be Vince McMahon receiving an award for the success of WrestleMania. Vince gives a heartfelt speech about his Dad and leaves the ring with his Stooges as the Bulldogs looked stumped as to what to do with the plaque. LariatMMBOPPO
I'm surprised that isn't more well known. Saw it for the first time years ago and thought it was hilarious.
Zenjo
"In grateful appreciation for having the insight, and the genius to create the greatest wrestling extravaganza of all time..." Â So many great moments in this "very, very special presentation". The Fink and Mean Gene beforehand. Vince and his stooges. The faux modesty and humility. You could add a hoop to that plaque and play basketball on it. Â Extraordinary.
Boondocks Kernoodle
Didn't he also give himself an honorary degree I think from Harvard? Â It was Sacred Heart, though in the 80s he did claim to be a Harvard graduate.
Cobra Commander
so, how did they not end up reenacting this for a segment in 1998?
Sidebottom
so, how did they not end up reenacting this for a segment in 1998? Â They did, kind of. Vince gave himself a humanitarian of the year award on Raw.
Hawkeye12
Â Didn't he also give himself an honorary degree I think from Harvard? Â It was Sacred Heart, though in the 80s he did claim to be a Harvard graduate. Â I don't remember Vince ever claiming it, but Jesse would call him that sometimes or mention an Ivy League education. I think it was more a generic, sarcastic way to put over that Vince was born with a silver spoon (when in fact he really wasn't) by a heel, not an actual attempt to claim he went there. Loss
Actually, what I was thinking of was Vince's worked MBA.
Cobra Commander
Wasn't there a few randomly awkward "East Carolina" mentions on Raw over the years? Â also, I watched the Humanitarian of the Year segment from 98, and that was fun. Although it'd be even more swarmy to have a fake charity involved in the angle. Or break a plaque in the process too. fakeplastictrees
Vince McMahon is the greatest promoter of all time! Its shit like this that makes me love this man! I was cracking up the entire time. Its all so over-the-top. And the fact that the plaque was written in 'Vince Speak' made it all even better. MSG wasn't putting up with it and you can hear people in the audience flat out not buying it and seeing right through the con. LOVE IT! ...TG
I really hope this thing is still on display in Vince's living room. Nah, there's a super-secret vault in a sub-basement of Titan Towers, accessible only to McMahon family members (except Shane) via DNA scan. It's down there, along various other trophies - like a Catholic reliquary. His ultimate prize is Macho Man's mummified head. When Vince has a bad day, he goes down there and delivers soliloquies to it, like Ian McShane in Deadwood.
