I think that the only reason Fujiwara isn't in the Hall of Fame at this point is that most people think that he was already inducted.

Sorry if this isn't the right thread to ask this.

Listening to the new (and awesome as usual) Exile on Badstreet, I'm really interested in learning more about old school lucha. Since there are voters here in the Mexico category on either side of the Huracan Ramirez candidacy I'm wondering if the the people who voted for and against him could talk a bit about him as a candidate. What was he missing for the non-voters? What put him over the top for the voters? So far everyone has voted for Karloff. What separates them as candidates?

Thanks!

Maybe this should be on the HOF thread itself, but I will reply here and let the mods choose whether to move our posts or not.

I voted for both but my guess is that the ones that voted for one but not the other did so because they found other candidates to be more important and/or needing the votes. Those on this thread who voted for only one of them have used their 10 votes.

I consider both to be on the same level as far as candidacy goes. Legendary stars, both were main eventers and draws for decades but never THE GUY so they suffer from being somewhat overshadowed by contemporaries (Demon and Santo as tecnicos, Mendoza and Guajardo on the rudo side). Huracan is stronger on the historical significance/influence side and a bigger draw. Lagarde was the better worker and the ultimate professional.

Both have been somewhat forgotten in time for different reasons. Lagarde retired earlier than Mendoza/Guajardo and doesn't have the promoter career or the legendary family that kept the names alive. Huracan had the big trademark scandal and lost a lot of goodwill with many people when he came clean on his alcoholism and claimed that most major stars of the time were drug addicts and/or alcoholics.

I want to see Chris talk about Sting

To be very honest, sometimes I go with pure calculations. Sometimes I go with gut. Everyone on the ballot has a case. It's always a question of whether it's the strongest case among the categories you're going to participate in.

I haven't supported Sting before. I thought his relevance in WWE in 2015 was very interesting and honestly that did it for me.

I've listened to Sting supporters. I've listened to Koloff supporters. I've listened to Slaughter supporters. Their arguments convinced me to give their candidate a vote. If they go in, great. If they don't? I won't be upset.

Honestly, about the only candidate that I feel strongly about is JYD.

Typically, with these things, before I can vote for , I usually have to concede that involves voting for and . So, if my analysis convinced me vote for Edge, then I feel that by the same criteria, wrestlers like CM Punk and Daniel Bryan had to get a vote.

However, I'll admit that:

1.) This year, I went with my gut and didn't over-think it.

2.) I think I'm one-and-done with Sting unless he has another high-profile year in WWE.

It's very hard to see how Sting's WWE run this year significantly impacted business in a positive fashion. Outside of Sting working really hard to have a good match at Night of Champions with Seth Rollins, it was quite a lukewarm affair. Not a disaster, but not a home run either. To me it hammered the nails in the coffin of his candidacy (with the current deep ballot) rather helped it, because WWE booked him like someone they didn't have much faith in.
