Mercer and Prichard welcome everyone to this week's episode and talks about today's main event as the Midnight Express defend the National Tag Team Championship against The Onyx Express.

In the ring: Marc Lowrance approaches "Iceman" King Parsons and informs him that WCCW has announced that tomorrow night Tim Horner will get a rematch for the WCCW TV Championship and that STEVE DOLL will be the special referee. Parsons says that he owes someone an apology…..Lowrance asks if it's Tim Horner or Steve Doll? Parsons laughs and says, neither….he says he owes 'Big Cat' Ernie Ladd an apology because Ernie tried to tell him before he left the UWF that he had to watch out for 'the man' in this business and he refused to believe him, but now he sees that Ernie Ladd was right all along and that now he "gets it". Parsons promises that he's going to help others to "see the light" and "rise up", and that despite the conspiracy against him, he will always 'fight the power' in WCCW!

Oh dang! What an ending in Houston. The fans must have been going nuts when Dusek said "relock the cage and start the main event". The American Dream beats the Texas Dream and takes the title. I can see Dusty becoming a huge sensation in WCCW. I wonder how high Fritz will let him go? The Parsons angle might be my favorite story right now. I cant wait to watch this develop. Kamala proved to be the monster he is with a decisive victory over JYD. Looks like Garvin, Embry and Big Bubba are back on the same page.

I like that Ernie Ladd seems to have gotten into the mind of Iceman King Parsons. Although he might have more trouble doing what he intended to do with the Onyx Express.

Crowd must've gone crazy for Dusty winning the Texas Heavyweight title!

World Class comes in hot and heavy... Eight man cage match makes me think about what the future could hold... I also like the four corners match. I think this is around the time Mid South did one IRL so we could see more of these popping up. Texas is wide open and lots of creativity in the booking makes it a premiere destination right now.

In the mid-80s in Vancouver, I was able to get WWF, Stampede, Crockett's NWA, AWA, and occasionally UWF on TV. We didn't get Memphis or Portland or WCCW... and even with the stuff we did get, it was just the TV. Arena shows were limited to WWF, Stampede, and the local All Star Wrestling, at that time.

So, I'm wondering: were chaotic finishes like the ones you wrote up for the Dallas TV show and Amarillo arena show above, common in WCCW at that time? I seem to remember a lot of the NWA TV shows finishing in a bonzo gonzo "Fans, we are out of time!" manner back then.

I'm not complaining. I enjoy it. I just really don't know and I'm hoping you can teach me.

Great turn of events in the TV title picture. Doll wins the belt but Iceman gives him a severe beating. Scott Hall and the Nasty Boys get some good wins. Would love to see more matches between Garvin/Embry and Onyx Express. Lawler was so good against the monsters as he shows here. Midnights and Freebirds is all kinds of awesome. Man, what an ending as Studd costs Kerry the match with a chair. I've enjoyed Studd here in WCCW.

Loved the Houston show with the big tag elimination match and Dusty going over Dirty to bring the title home. Iceman trying to make his own NoD is fun also. The main would have been a great brawl...with a reset involving the Funks! Good stuff there.

The Nasty Boys as heels in Texas is just a perfect fit. Steve Doll is getting the push of a lifetime. Lawler over Kamala is reminiscent of Memphis. I like using the Freebirds as babyfaces against the MXE. Studd and Kerry seems like it's going to be a fun feud already.

Yea, Rod's promo was hilarious. Parade of Champions should be an awesome day of wrestling. Hall gets a big win over Parsons but Parsons manages to get the last laugh on Doll. Dirty White Boys and Onyx Express could be a good feud. Well, looks like the Texas Dream is gone. It seems like Dusty Rhodes is about to explode in WCCW. Freebirds/Kamala and Nasty Boys must of been an insane brawl and that's followed by Road Warriors/Funks! Fantastic way to end the card!

World Class Championship Wrestling TV

Recorded at the Sportatorium in Dallas, TX on 5/15 Airing on Friday 5/23 on WTVT throughout Texas And various outlets across the Southwest. Hosted by Bill Mercer and Bruce Prichard Ring Announcer/Interviewer: Marc Lowrance

Mercer and Prichard open the show and announce that the JWA Middleweight Champion Tiger Mask will be at the David Von Erich Memorial Parade of Champions to defend against Tim Horner. Also coming in from Japan, Riki Choshu, Rusher Kimura, and Tatsutoshi Goto will challenge for the NWA World Six Man Tag Team Championships and also just signed the Fabulous Ones will challenge the Road Warriors for the NWA World Tag Team Championships.

MATCH #1:

The Onyx Express (Brickhouse Brown/Koko Ware) defeated The MEXecutioners (Uno/Dos) when Ware pinned Mexecutioner Uno after a top rope dropkick.

e75eeaf63fc66bcfd7aadf4b4bf6c98b--king.j

Post Match: 'Iceman' King Parsons came down and questioned Ware and Brown why they still haven't gotten their North American tag team title shot they earned when they won a #1 Contender's match two weeks ago? Brown said that tomorrow night they will face the Dirty White Boys for a shot at Garvin/Embry at Parade of Champions. Parsons replied that this exactly what he's been trying to warn them about….while they were getting beat last week by a couple 'dirty white boys', the REAL dirty white boys, the Von Erichs were getting the title shot they earned…..Parsons told them it's time to "wake up" and realize they'll never get a fair shot in WCCW unless they learn to trust him then he turned and left….as Brown and Ware seemed as though they were at least considering what he just said this time.

COMMERCIALS

VTR: VOICEOVER "The Following is a paid advertisement from 'the Million Dollar Man' Ted Dibiase"

(Cut to Ted Dibiase in a limo with the NWA United States Championship over his shoulder)

DIBIASE2.jpg

Dibiase: "Hello Peons….I understand this isn't something you're used to seeing here on 'Low Class Championship Wrestling' but you are looking at a true champion…your United States Heavyweight Wrestling Champion, Ted Dibiase…..the Million Dollar Man. Now ordinarily I wouldn't lower myself to appear on such a program as this but I find myself needing to deliver a message to the hero of all you 9 to 5'ers out there in Texas, of course I'm talking about the American Dream Dusty Rhodes. I find it ironic that a self professed 'common man'…an admitted 'son of a plumber' would have the audacity to call himself the 'American Dream'? Let's get real for minute, who is really living the American dream right now? The fat common man….who lives like you people do? I don't think so….it's a man like me….a man of means, a man who flies first class, rides in limos, eats at 5 star restaurants, is seen with the most beautiful women in the world and can literally have ANYTHING I want….that is the 'American Dream' not some fat slob who is proud to be a common run of the mill loser like everyone else from the God forsaken state of Texas. A guy who associates himself with a slimeball like Jim Duggan. Dusty Rhodes, you made the mistake of your life when you came to the Mid Atlantic and stuck your fat nose in my business, you will pay the price and pay dearly. Now, being the world class athlete and champion I am, I'm not going to lower myself to come to Texas seeking revenge because that's beneath me. Nope, I'm putting it out there right now, I'm putting a bounty on Dusty Rhodes' head of $150,000 to anyone who can injure Dusty Rhodes to the point he can no longer wrestle….and I don't care who it is….It could be my friend Stan Hansen the only decent human being to come out of Texas, it could be Abdullah the Butcher, or Mike Jackson…..it makes no difference to me, get the job done and you'll reap the reward! Watch your back Dusty, because that's a lot of money, and you never know when or where someone may try to collect it!" (Trademark Dibiase laugh to close)

MATCH #2:
The Missing Link pinned Randy Watson after a 'running headbutt'

(Marc Lowrance welcomes Dusty Rhodes to ringside)

dustypromo.jpg

Marc: "Dusty, I want to get your thoughts on the comments we heard earlier from the Million Dollar Man Ted Dibiase."

Dusty: "My thoughts…baby….my thoughts are this….Ted Dibiase is a coward…..Ted Dibiase is a disgrace to the United States title and to my sport of professional rasslin' you understand. Money don't make the man….make no mistake about it baby….while I am a common man….while I do relate to everyone in this Sportatorium here tonight….the Dream is a money maker….the Dream can travel first class with the best of 'em you understand…..the difference between you and I, Dibiase is that I understand that money don't make the man….I understand that no matter how much money I ever make….I'm still just like these fine people here in Dallas, baby. You talkin' about Stan Hansen if ya will, he's already signed on to face me tomorrow night in Ft. Worth….and if he wants to try and collect that money, we can get funky like a monkey right there in Ft Worth cause……" (Before Dusty can finish he's attacked out of nowhere by the Missing Link, Link rams Dusty's head into the ring post, and starts dropping head butts on him on the floor until security come to his aid.

COMMERCIALS

(Bruce Prichard is in the dressing room with TV Champion Steve Doll)

Bruce: "Steve, I understand you're still pretty banged up from the recent beatings that Iceman Parsons has put on you, however you've still accepted his challenge to defend the title against him here tonight….isn't that a little…..I don't know….stupid?"

Doll: "Bruce Prichard, you can call it stupid, you can call it whatever you want but there's only so much a man can take and I've taken all I can from King Parsons and tonight I'm going to show him that Steve Doll is no pushover."

(Scott Hall enters)

Hall: "Look Steve, I get where you're coming from and I know why you feel the need to have this match, but come on man….give it another week or two…..let yourself heal up and then have the match. You don't have to do this here tonight."

Doll: "Scott, I appreciate your concern….but yes, I do need to do this tonight. So please, just stay out of it and let me do what I have to do."

Hall: "Your call brother." (as he steps back, Doll leaves the dressing room)

Prichard: "Idiot" (Hall shoves Prichard as he turns to leave)

MATCH #3:

WCCW TV Title

"Iceman" King Parsons defeated Steve Doll when the referee declared him unable to continue after Scott Hall ran down and threw in the towel to avoid further injury, Parsons is once again WCCW Television Champion

(We cut to the dressing room where Marc Lowrance is with a bloody Dusty Rhodes who is getting his head bandaged up)

Dusty: (yelling) "Missing Link…..you wanna collect that bounty? You wanna jump on the Dream…..well bring yo green headed a** down to the ring tonight and I can promise you one thing…..you won't collect no bounty, but yo a** gonna get paid one way or another….come get you some!"
