spaldoni
Wow, this Kokina/OMG feud is really heating up big time! Loved Kokina using Singh's sword. OMG got some serious payback and cost Kokina the match with Rich. Savoldi really bounced back after having to leave Mid Atlantic. Brunzell continues his impressive win streak. Andre seems to be back in the good graces with the fans. Fun street fight as Sommers and Borne get a pretty big win over Garvin and Embry. Speaking of big wins, Adias gets one over B. Brian. The Pride of Kernodle retains over Goto. Pretty impressive since Saito was in Goto's corner.

kevinmcfl
I love heel Jiimy Garvin. He was so good at bothering people that you couldn;t wait for him to get it and I was glad when Borne put him and Precious in their place. I would say that the Road Warriors are such a great attraction that I would have moved them down the card a bit
SirEdger
Yeah, in hindsight, maybe I should've switched the Road Warriors and Gilles Poisson matches but I didn't want to finish the show with 3 multi-men matches so I thought placing it there was the best spot I could put it in. spaldoni
Poor Jacques is having a rough time lately. Candido puts up a fight but that Professor has a lot in his arsenal. Road Warriors continue to dominate. I don't know if anyone can stop them. Freebirds and Nightmares is a fun match up. Even though there was no interference, I wonder if Adias and Sunny are so worried about each other that it's causing them to lose focus a bit. Great main event that sends the fans home happy. I really like the shine on Matt Borne in Lutte.
SirEdger
See....the little things with Adias & Sunny. They must watch their backs so often for one another that they can't seem to focus properly when time comes for bigger opportunities. dawho5
Fatu neeeded a win. Whoa, Precious as part of the match? Good to see the Professor strong in Canada as well. The Road Warriors in a falls count anywhere seems like a good fit. MS-1 and Goto both get good wins. Is there a third NIghtmare? Love seeing Poisson get a win. Borne pinning Embry is the perfect result there. Now Embry and Garvin have more to whine about.
LowBlowPodcast
Lutte... bringing in the Road Warriors and Freebirds for a big show and it pays off. Then to top it off Garvin is here. You and I have discussed the Garvins in montreal and with Jimmy here you now have some openings in which you could really do some fun stuff especially with Martel and the Rougeaus. SirEdger
NWA Lutte Internationale/International Wrestling TV LIVE! August 9th, 1986 CNE Coliseum, Toronto, ON Quick and dirty results -The show starts with Jimmy Garvin being interviewed at the broadcast booth and requesting once again a title match against Don Kernodle. Kernodle comes out and says that he didn't hold his end of the bargain in regards to Matt Borne so the deal is off. Jimmy Garvin says that was Eric Embry's fault, not his if they didn't get the job done so he shouldn't be paying for Embry's shortcomings. Kernodle reiterates that until Borne is taken care of, he's not getting anything. Garvin vows to take care of this before the end of the night. -NWA Canadian International Tag Team Champion Kokina Maximus (w/Paul E. Dangerously) beat Bruce Hart in 11:01. After the match, Paul E joins the broadcast booth and still claims that the Dangerous Alliance will rule the National Wrestling Alliance sooner rather than later. In fact, Paul E says that he's so good that he could take any random team or any random man, and lead them to victory in any way, shape or form. Paul E pitches a concept called BattleBowl, in which teams are randomly put together and winners advance to a battle royal with the winner getting a major amount of money. Next week, he's gonna have a match to get the first entrant in it. The broadcast team says Paul E is getting ahead of himself but he doesn't seem to care.... -The Zambuie Express defeated Hot Property when Elijah Akeem pinned Billy Joe Travis -The Rougeaus were scheduled to face the Blond Outlaws in the next match but Paul E. Dangerously says there is a change of plan as Hiro Saito has come down with an illness. Therefore, Paul E introduces Tatsutoshi Goto's partner for the night....GINO BRITO. The Rougeaus are appalled and stunned at the sight of an expressionless Gino Brito walking to the ring? What has the Dangerous Alliance done to him? -Gino Brito & Tatsutoshi Goto (w/Paul E. Dangerously) beat the Rougeau Brothers when Goto pinned Jacques after the Backdrop Suplex. After the match, Brito reluctantly attacked Jacques! -Keith Hart scores the upset by pinning Rick Martel with a small package in 29:27....The broadcast team mentions that Martel really needs some time off. After the match, Keith tries to attack Martel some more but Bruce Hart makes the save. Bruce takes the chair away from Keith and Keith walks off... -Iceman King Parsons beat Ken Wayne in 15:46 -In the main event, Team Lutte Internationale (Chris Candido, NWA Canadian International TV Champion Matt Borne & Los Infernales) beat Team Portland (Brady Boone, Billy Jack Haynes, Mike Graham & Tim Horner). The story of the match though is Jimmy Garvin running in the arena and attacking Matt Borne after Precious hit Borne with a loaded purse. Jimmy Garvin went as far as piledriving Borne on the floor, causing the EMTs to rush to the scene and stretcher Borne by precaution while Garvin was escorted out of the building...Will Jimmy Garvin finally get what he wanted? kevinmcfl
The main event was fun with Team Lutte vs Team Portland. Nout sure of all your venues but you two could really work something out for your west coast swing.
spaldoni
Jimmy Garvin "It's not my fault" LOL. Paul E. making some strong challenges to the entire NWA. Zambuie Express get a nice win over Hot Property. Gino Brito in the Dangerous Alliance?!?! Wow! That's a pretty big shocker. Poor Jacques takes another fall and beating. On that note, Martel suffers another upset. Keith showing some serious aggression after the match. Good thing Bruce stopped him. Crazy that two of the biggest stars in Lutte (Martel and Jacques) are both going through a rough patch. I'm sure they will rebound. Wild main event involving the stars from Portland. Looks like Garvin delivered on his promise but Borne will no doubt be looking for some payback.

dawho5
Garvin splitting from Embry is sad, but it had to come. Paul E. pitching BattleBowl is the start of big things. Zambuie Express with a good TV win. Brito working for Paul E.? What is the world coming to? Keith is really turning into a dick. I wonder why. That main would have been more fun as a match had it not been all about Garvin injuring Borne. But that is such a huge thing that has been built to so well. So I'll accept the match as an excuse for that.

SirEdger
BREAKING NEWS: JIMMY GARVIN GETS WHAT HE WANTS THIS FRIDAY NIGHT IN MONTREAL!!! After 2 sneak attacks on TV Champion Matt Borne at the behest of NWA Canadian International Heavyweight Champion Don "The Pride of" Kernodle, it looks like "Gorgeous" Jimmy Garvin will finally get what he wanted; a title shot against the champ himself. Kernodle has informed Lutte promoter Frank Valois and NWA Enforcer Bruno Sammartino that he will accept to put his title on the line this Friday night at Jarry Park in Montreal in Lutte's annual summer stop at the historic stadium. Garvin and Kernodle will wrestle in the main event and it will be interesting to see what role if any Eric Embry will play in the match, given the less than complimentary comments made by Garvin about him recently. The card goes as follows: MAIN EVENT NWA CANADIAN INTERNATIONAL HEAVYWEIGHT CHAMPIONSHIP "Gorgeous" Jimmy Garvin (w/Precious) vs Don "The Pride of" Kernodle (c) Black Bart vs Jacques Rougeau Bruce Hart vs Armand Rougeau JWA Trios Champion Lance Von Erich vs Joe Savoldi Hillbilly Jim & Cousin Elmer vs Los Infernales Tatsutoshi Goto (w/Paul E. Dangerously) vs Gilles "The Fish" Poisson
spaldoni
I really liked the Brito/Charland match as it was 2 local vets squaring off. Brito gets the impressive win. Orndorff retains in a tough match with Goto. Nice win for Los Infernales. Ray Rougeau scores a stunning upset over Gordy. Borne gets a big win over OMG but suffers a double team beatdown. Cant go wrong with Andre in the main event. Maybe Ray needs to have a sit down with Jacques to help him get back on track. Jimmy finally gets what he wants. Very interesting match up between him and Kernodle. Will this be the end of Kernodle's reign??? Jarry Park card looks pretty stacked. Jacques facing old nemeses Black Bart might be exactly what he needs right now.
gordi
BattleBowl Sure, why not? Very interested to see what you do with that. I am loving Tatsutoshi Goto, master of the Backdrop Suplex. He's such a good midcard heel for you, that really makes me happy. I also like the touch of you advertising "JWA Trios Champion" Lance Von Erich. Very observant of you! I think Matt Bourne is really being elevated by getting so much attention from various heels. He's another guy I really like, and I'm glad to see him in a big role here. dawho5
Good wins for Lane and Somers. I love how you promote the big names across the NWA on your shows. Orndorff should be a guy who makes his way across the NWA. Glad to see los Infernales getting a win! Is that the brainwashed Brito getting a win? Or the now better Brito? Ray with a big win over Gordy! OMG was very forgiving about Garvin's botched interference. Andre hanging out in Lutte is a cool deal. I'm guessing he had a good connection with the Quebec crowds. Cool card for Montreal. Black Bart vs. Jacques harkens back a long ways, but it has history. Bruce vs. Armand might have some extracurricular things going on if I am right. GeneJackson95
Garvin vs. Borne is one of the best feuds in the game right now. Lutte is always a fun read as you just truly never know what's going to happen and who will face who!

He actually owned a share of the promotion before he headed to WWF (Lutte was owned under the entity Promotions Varoussac - Va = Valois, Rouss = Roussimoff - Andre's real last name, Ac = Acocella - Gino Brito's real last name). Eventually, Andre and Frank Valois sold their share to Dino Bravo & Rick Martel.
rainmakerrtv
I remember watching late 80s French Canadian WWF TV and wondering why they kept calling Andre "Le Geant, Jean Ferre".
SirEdger
That's because it's the name he used in Europe and Quebec when he first started (in reference to French singer & songwriter Leo Ferré)...When he started in the US, a promoter decided to call him Andre the Giant instead.
