Black Gold (Steve Blackman & Shane Douglas) vs. Joe & Dean Malenko

A fast paced and exciting tag match that ultimately went to the Malenkos when Joe pinned Shane with a German Suplex

Texas Red vs. Maxx Payne

This was a strange one. Paul Bearer was in the corner of his man Maxx Payne, shouting encouragement as he tore into Texas Red. But whenever Red got on offense, Bearer laughed with glee at every move he landed. No matter what Red threw at him, Payne kept relentlessly advancing, until the big Texan was finally able to put him down with a thundering Western Lariat. As he led Payne from the ring, Bearer had an encouraging arm around him and congratulated him for a job well done. What on earth was he talking about?

Pacific Heavyweight Title Match : Nick Bockwinkel © vs. Tony St. Clair

In his last title defense before San Diego , Bockwinkel varied from his recent run of matches with up and coming young stars to face the British veteran "Tough" Tony St. Clair. The two had a long and gripping technical showdown that had the fans on the edge of their seats. Bock finally pulled it out when he dodged the spinning forearm smash and caught St. Clair in a roll up to get the one two three.

Fit Finlay & Cannonball Grizzly vs. "Diamond" Timothy Flowers & "The Cuban Assassin" Angel Acevedo

A down and dirty match with the tough as nails Finlay and the powerful rookie Grizzly squaring off against two of the most vicious and conniving competitors in PCW. Flowers and Acevedo tried to keep Grizzly in their end of the ring, taking advantage of his inexperience and ganging up on him. But they failed to see him making a blind tag, and Finlay caught Flowers by surprise with a lariat from behind. While Grizzly held off Acevedo, Finlay got the pinfall. Flowers and Acevedo were seething as they left the ring, and could be seen whispering to each other as they walked back to the locker room.

Pierre Carl Ouellet vs. Sabu

That was match was followed by another vicious brawl between the Bombay madman and the fierce French-Canadian. Ouellet was finally able to put Sabu down with a package piledriver, but it took considerable effort to defeat him.

LA night 1.

Sid shows that even when holding back, he's more than a match for most on the PCW roster.

Young's dirty tricks aren't enough to get by the Hitman.

Hennig takes a licking but escapes the big Cat.

With that win over Chavo Classic, Bubba is ready to show Red who's BOSS in the cage!

Coast 2 Coast end the night with a blistering win over the Wild Things.

LA night 2.

Owen gets past the gatekeeper.

Burke just can't figure out the Gang.

Big Ron batters the young Bull.

Malenko's with a big win over former tag champs.

Red brings the Payne to the seeming delight of Paul Bearer.

Bockwinkel with another mat classic this time with St Clair.

Onwards to Santa Barbara.

Finlay & Grizzly might want to be careful, the Diamond Exchange doesn't take well to being embarrassed.

PCO vs Sabu sounds like a madhouse!

The Midnights have a deeper bag of tricks than Los Guerreros.

BJH vs AoD must've been quite the hossfest.

Pillman & Black Tiger have another thriller.

Snow certainly pulled his weight in the main event scoring both falls for his team.

Weird note : after having brought Paul Neu (Cannonball Grizzly / PN News) into PCW as an acolyte of "Playboy" Buddy Rose, I just discovered that IRL he started his career in Portland and was partners with Rose in a team called the Beach Boys. I utterly had no idea.

Well that worked out nicely didn't it? For what it's worth, them as a pair of surfer dudes doesn't sound that interesting so I think you got the real thing beat.

Agreed!

I also like your use of 2/3 falls.  I think Portland had more of those matches then anywhere else.  It seemed like the few times I saw a TV show from there, the main event was always a 2/3 match main event with an interesting interview in the Crows Nest in between falls.

Even though he was a bit tamer, Sid still continues his rampage in Pacific.

Hart is one step ahead of Young's shady tactics.

Hennig is really looking impressive as he heads into his big title match with Bock.

Bubba sends a strong message to Red.

Hot tag match ends the show. I think both of these teams are going to have a big year in 88.

LA,

Owen knows how to get a crowd going.

OMG looked like the monster he is.

Nobody gets up from a Simmons spear.

Malenkos are rising the ranks fast.

What is up with Paul Bearer?

Bock vs. St. Clair! OH YEA! Great match up! Perfect way for Bock to gear up for Hennig.

Santa Barbara,

The team of Finlay and Grizzly works as they give the Diamond Exchange a rare loss.

Good booking with Pierre and Sabu. I can see their styles meshing well.

Speaking of meshing well, same goes for the Guerreros and Midnights

Billy Jack shows AOD what real power is all about.

Pillman defeats Tiger in yet another thrilling LHW match.

You really know how to put the right people in the 2/3 falls matches. Bomb Squad have serious momentum heading into Battleground.

Pacific Coast Wrestling San Diego Battleground from the San Diego Sports Arena, San Diego, Night One, "The Last Chance Saloon"

Tony St. Clair vs. Maxx Payne

Exclusive Tony St Clair Interview by Seconds Away-British Wrestling Podcast then and now • A podcast on AnchorMaxx Payne

It's the biggest PCW show of the year and the San Diego Sports Arena was packed to the rafters with excited fans. For the first match, they were treated to a knock down, drag out affair. Over the past few weeks, Tony St. Clair and Maxx Payne have built up a considerable feud with some hotly contested matches. That carried over into tonight's match, with neither man wanting to give an inch to the other. St. Clair showed why he was known as "Tough" Tony, laying in some nasty shots including a forearm smash that bloodied Payne's nose. But Payne was relentless, being hectored onwards by Paul Bearer at ringside, and just kept coming after him. He wound up wearing him down with several suplexes before finally getting the pinfall after the Pain Threshold (side suplex). A valiant effort from St. Clair, but Maxx Payne would not be denied.

Doug Furnas vs. Mr. Hito

Doug Furnas - Alchetron, The Free Social EncyclopediaMr Hito - Alchetron, The Free Social Encyclopedia

Doug Furnas shocked a lot of people with his return to Pacific Coast Wrestling, not the least of which were his former colleagues in the Pride when he warned them to give him a wide berth. The Pride ignored that warning, becoming a persistent thorn in his side. Furnas found himself staring across the ring from the hit man of the Pride, Mr. Hito, who was out to make him pay for his departure. Hito got in a number of well placed kicks and shots that took a toll on Furnas. But Furnas gutted it out and then waited until Hito got in too close, then grabbed him with a crushing bearhugs. After wearing him down, Furnas tossed the Japanese veteran around with spectacular power moves, closing off with the Volunteer Slam (running Canadian backbreaker into the corner followed by a slam to the mat). Clearly, Doug Furnas is not someone to be messed with.

Jeff Jarrett vs. Rick Gantner

Jeff Jarrett: photos | WWEBull Pain – Online World of Wrestling

Both men in this match have worked hard to establish their own identity outside the shadow of their family, for Jeff his legendary father Jerry Jarrett, for Rick his brother, the Television champion Ed Gantner. With Jeff scoring a pinfall on Gantner in a recent tag match, a lot of eyes were on this match to see if he could do it again. Jarrett was certainly all energy as he used his speed to try to keep the young Bull off balance throughout the match. Gantner took his time, though, and when he was able to land his shots , he made them count.  He was able to knock Jarrett for a loop with some big punches and hit some power moves that wore the second generation star down. Jarrett was able to rally and it looked like he just might pull it off when he seemed like he was going to take him down with a crucifix. But Gantner steadied himself and then hit a Samoan Drop that took the wind out of Jarrett's sails. He then pulled him up from the mat and hit the Hangman's Drop (two handed chokeslam) to get the pinfall. A nail biter, but one where Ronnie P. Gossett's man came out on top.

Leo Burke & Todd Morton vs. "Diamond" Timothy Flowers & "The Cuban Assassin" Angel Acevedo

Leo Burke - IMDbTodd Morton shares his thoughts after July 20th - YouTubeDiamond Timothy Flowers transitions to Streetfighter | Slam WrestlingAutographed Cuban Assassin 8x10 Photograph. | EstateSales.org

A blood feud has erupted between the Army and the Diamond Exchange when Flowers put Morton on the shelf with a piledriver through a table, much like Randy Savage did to Todd's cousin Ricky some years before. Morton was making his comeback in the ring in this match, and it looked like Burke was trying to protect him by shouldering much of the action himself. But Morton was determined not to be coddled and insisted on being tagged into the match. Flowers and Acevedo had not taken him seriously in previous matches, but looked like they were not about to make that mistake again, attacking him with venomous spite in every move they landed. But Morton was resilient, coming back with enthusiastic dropkicks and quick moves that kept the Diamond Exchange at bay. On several occasions, they tried to put him down with the DDT or the Piledriver, but Morton was always able to wriggle out of their grasp. Finally, Acevedo knocked Burke off the ring apron while Flowers tried to get Morton set up for the Piledriver, determined to get him out of their hair for good. At the last second, Morton countered with a small package, but Flowers grabbed a fistful of tights and reversed it, getting the three count. After the match, Acevedo and Flowers tried to double team Morton, but Burke protectively swooped in and they thought better of it.  But as they left, Morton still gave them a grin of pure defiance. He may have been pinned , but he had achieved a moral victory, and the fans applauded his efforts.

Submission Match : Dan Severn vs. Akira Maeda

 Dan Severn (Page 1) - Line.17QQ.comAkira Maeda - TheSportsDB.com

Ever since Maeda made his PCW debut with an ambush attack on Severn, these two have engaged in one of the most heated feuds in Pacific Coast history. They have fought with such brutality that it was inevitable that they would be pitted in a Submission Match. Both men locked eyes before the match, but when the ring bell, they went right after each other. Maeda looked like he was trying to take Severn out with his stiff kicks, while Severn would always try to grapple with Maeda to bring him to the mat. Maeda looked on a number of occasions like he might be able to take Severn with several nasty leglocks, but Severn always had the presence of mind to be able to escape or make it to the ropes. Maeda then started blasting him with kicks which staggered the Beast. But Severn was able to trap Maeda by catching his leg, then took him down with a legsweep. He followed up with a huge stomp to the midsection that caused Maeda to spasm in pain. Severn swiftly swept in and wrapped him up in a Body Scissors Sleeper. Maeda struggled mightily, but he was caught in the middle of the ring, and had no choice but to tap out. Severn had prevailed and pulled off perhaps his greatest PCW victory.

Loser Leaves Town Match : Gary Young vs. Jim Neidhart

HighSpots.com: Gary Young Promo - AUTOGRAPHEDJim The Anvil Neidhart Arrested and Other Wrestlers Gone Wild | Bleacher Report | Latest News, Videos and Highlights

Many weeks of arguing and chest bumping between these two led to this match. The Knights Templar and, indeed, Pacific Coast Wrestling were not big enough for both of them, and by the end of the match, there would be only one. Mr. Bob Backlund and the Bomb Squad were at ringside for the match, but Backlund simply observed impassively and ordered his men to do the same. Young and Neidhart tore into each other viciously, unleashing all of their pent up aggression on each other. Neidhart was looking to overpower Young with big tackles and slams, while Young took the low road, with nasty eye rakes and every cheap shot he could sneak in. Both men ended up getting busted open, but that only drove their intensity. Al Snow in particular looked horrified at what they were doing to each other, and pleaded with Backlund to get them to stop. But Backlund paid him no heed, only ordering him to stand down. A cheap shot elbow to the midsection from Young doubled Neidhart over, and Young looked to put him away with a DDT. But Neidhart exploded out with all of the power of a charging rhino and drove Young hard into the turnbuckle. He then locked Young in the Anvilizer (modified Cobra Clutch) and shook him until he was unconscious. The ref determined that Young was unable to continue and called the match for Neidhart. The Anvil stood bloody but triumphant and Young was now gone from both the Knights Templar and PCW. Mr. Bob Backlund led Neidhart and the remaining Knights from the ring, with Snow looking like he was going to be sick to his stomach.

Ever since Barr left the Army to form the Wild Things with Eddie Guerrero, the destinies of these two teams have been intertwined, with both teams scoring victories at different points. Black Gold have forged a considerable reputation in their time in PCW, even beating no less a team than the Midnight Express for the Pacific Tag Team Titles. But Barr and Guerrero have been on a bit of a hot streak, and were very keen to prove themselves. These two teams went at it with white hot intensity, both determined to come out on top in the most important show of the year. But Shane Douglas got carried away in his enthusiasm and wound up running straight into a superkick from Art Barr. Quick as a flash, Barr tagged in Guerrero, who swiftly went up top and hit a Frog Splash. While Barr held off Blackman, the ref counted three, giving the match to the Wild Things. Barr and Guerrero are likely to be a team to watch out for in 1988.

Loser Leaves Town Cage Match : Texas Red vs. Big Bubba Rogers

MEAN MARK CALLOUS 8X10 PHOTO WRESTLING PICTURE WCW CLOSE UP THE UNDERTAKER | eBayBig Bubba Rogers ( Shown here with the UWF Title). He also portrayed this particular character … | World championship wrestling, Wrestling superstars, Pro wrestling

After a pause to erect the cage, the show got back underway with one of the most highly anticipated matches of the year. With both men interfering in each others matches, the hatred between these two men has reached such a fevered pitch that the only way this could be resolved was in a steel cage, with only one man remaining in PCW at the end of it. Big Bubba came out first, with his manager Jim Cornette full of his usual confidence and swagger. Red came out alone, but once the cage door was closed and locked, Paul Bearer arrived at ringside. Red gave him a disgusted look and did his best to ignore him throughout the match, but instead of his usual hectoring, Bearer simply stared at the big Texan. Bubba and Red tore into each other, unleashing their loathing for each other in every blow that landed. As the match wore on, they were battered, bloodied, and bruised, but still refused to give in. Red was getting especially frustrated, as nothing he did seemed to be able to slow the relentless attack of Big Bubba. The Louisville Slugger just kept at him, while Cornette cackled from outside the cage. Red unleashed a mighty flying lariat that got Bubba to the mat. But then, Bubba started to slowly get to his feet. What would it take to stop this man? Red grabbed him by the back of the head, looked to Bearer, nodded … then executed the Heart Punch! Red's most feared move had not been seen since his return to PCW, and the crowd watched in shock as Red's fist jack hammered into Bubba's sternum. Bubba dropped to the mat like a sack of rolled oats as Cornette looked on in horror. Red folded Bubba's hands over his chest, and after a stunned moment, the ref came over and made the three count. Bubba was now gone from PCW, but at quite a cost. After the cage door was unlocked, Red exited and returned to the locker room with Paul Bearer following behind. What unholy transformation has come over the beloved Texan?

Golden State Tag Team Title Match : British Steel (Steven Regal & Robbie Brookside) © vs. Buzz & Hack Sawyer

The Golden Boys – in pictures: early years – Eire Alba Kissed A** all the time”-Wrestling Veteran makes allegation about legend The Undertaker

The Sawyer Brothers have rapidly made their mark as one of the roughest, toughest teams in PCW. They have scored some pinfalls on British Steel, but have yet to take the titles. They would get their shot tonight, and looked dead set on making the most of it. Buzz and Hack looked to bully the young Englishmen, using big swinging punches and plenty of cheap shots. But while Regal and Brookside may be young, they are certainly not pushovers. Mentored by "Tough" Tony St. Clair and forged in the fires of many title defenses, the champs refused to be intimidated , weathering out the storm and taking the Sawyers to the mat every chance they got. No matter what Buzz and Hack threw at them, British Steel came bouncing back. Regal was able to knock Hack senseless with a running knee to the side of the head, and while Brookside cut off Buzz with a spear to the midsection, Regal got the three count. A truly impressive defense from the beloved champs.

California & Submission Title Match : Bob Backlund © vs. Super Strong Machine

Bob Backlund (Wrestling) - TV TropesDecember 20th Birthdays | Freakin' Awesome Network Forums

With two titles to his name, Mr. Bob Backlund had seemed invincible for a long time. With the Knights Templar solidly behind him, no one seemed close to bringing him down. But with the Knights brought low by internal squabble, Backlund has never looked more vulnerable. The masked Japanese legend Super Strong Machine looked to capitalize on this distraction to try and take one or both of Backlund's titles. He certainly gave a credible go of it, pulling Backlund every which way with excruciating weardown holds. He looked like he might just take it when he had Backlund trapped in a Boston Crab, but Backlund was able to get to the ropes to force a release. Machine then tried to set him up for the Devil Windmill Suplex, but Backlund still had enough left in the tank to power out with a backdrop. The champ then rolled Machine up in the Backlund Bridge and barely held his shoulders to the mat for the one two three. Backlund just barely survived a narrow escape and held on to both of his titles.

2/3 Falls Pacific Light Heavyweight Title Match : Brian Pillman © vs. Owen Hart

Anything Wrestling - 22 Years Later: October 5th, 1997 - Wattpad 20 Years Ago Today: The Life and Death of Owen Hart

The first night of San Diego Battleground caps off with a much anticipated battle over the Light Heavyweight Title between two best friends. The two were all smiles and handshakes before the start of the match, but once the bell rang, it was all business. Normally, in a 2/3 falls match, it will start off with a feeling out period with the wrestlers pacing themselves to go the distance. Not this time. Hart and Pillman were burning it up right from the get go, going as fast as they could to get the first fall. It was during a criss cross that Owen staggered Pillman with a spinning back heel kick, then took him down with a belly to belly suplex. He went up top and hit a Moonsault, scoring the pinfall. Owen was up one fall, and looking to make it two in a row as he kept on Pillman. But Pillman was made of his own kind of iron, fighting back hard to keep his title. When Owen attempted a Northern Lights Suplex, Pillman countered with a DDT to even up the match. In a display of sportsmanship, Pillman gave his friend time to recover from the move before restarting the match, but both men were clearly exhausted as the third fall wore on. Driven on by competitive fire, the two kept at it, going to the mat and attempting a battle of rollups, but neither man could keep the other down for the count of three. Owen finally attempted a Sunset Flip out of the corner, but Pillman blocked it part way through and kept his shoulders down for the one two three, successfully defending his title. After the match, Pillman helped his friend up from the mat and embraced him, and Owen raised the champ's arm in victory. The fans gave them both a standing ovation, knowing that they had just witnessed a classic. Now on to Night Two!

Chavo & Hector Guerrero vs. Joe & Dean Malenko

image.jpeg.197cc1e5609e07a2b65bd513586fac00.jpegThe Malenko Brothers – Online World of Wrestling

After an incredible Night One, Night Two kicks off with a classic style tag match between two second generation tag teams. Both teams were so much in synch it was as though they were telepathic, as could be expected from two experience tag teams of brothers. Whether it was on the mat or in the air, it kept the fans on the edge of their seats until Dead dropkicked Hector out of the ring, then clotheslined Chavo into a German Suplex by Joe to give the match to the Malenkos.

Loser Of The Fall Leaves Town Match : Cannonball Grizzly & Pierre Carl Ouellet vs. Teijo Khan & The Angel Of Death

Talking Shop: Cannonball Grizzly/PN News (ex-WCW) | Blogue de PIERRE-CARL-OUELLET - Blog de PIERRE-CARL-OUELLET - Skyrock.comTeijo Khan (American Professional Wrestler) ~ Wiki & Bio with Photos | VideosAngel of Death (wrestler) - Wikipedia

Ever since Teiji Khan and Angel Of Death joined the Playboy Club, they have been locked in a rivalry with the wrestlers they replaced, Cannonball Grizzly and Pierre Carl Ouellet. With these for continually locking horns, both in matches with each other and interfering in matches between Buddy Rose and Fit Finlay, something had to break sooner or later. The result was this match where the loser of the fall would be gone from PCW. The big and powerful men of the Playboy Club tried to bully their younger opponents, cheating and double teaming every chance they got. But it was proving time for Grizzly and Ouellet, and they rose to the challenge. Little by little , the rookies gained more ground against the Playboy Club, chipping away at them. Khan and Angel of Death resorted to a nasty double eyerake, then Angel went up top for the Death Sentence. But Ouellet was able to get on the apron and shove the big man off the top turnbuckle all the way to the floor. Khan then charged in on Grizzly, only for Grizzly, acting on sheer reflex, to catch him in a crushing belly to belly suplex. Ouellet then rose to the top turnbuckle and hit a top rope senton that scored the pinfall. Teijo Khan was now gone from PCW.

Dingo Warrior vs. Curtis Hughes

Dingo Warrior aka Ultimate warrior wccw | Wwe legends, Wrestling superstars, Professional wrestlingimage.jpeg.31f472bf4cee4a4e0e0db49f158ecf90.jpeg

This was an out and out power struggle between the muscular Warrior and the big roughneck Hughes. These two just plain knocked each other all over the ring, with the Cat's speed and ruthlessness being matched by the sheer force of nature that is the Dingo Warrior. These two rugged combatants kept blasting away at each other, trying in vain to get the other to go down. Warrior managed to stagger Hughes with two mighty shoulder tackles, looking like he just might be able to fell the big oak tree. But when he went for a third , Hughes caught him in the Cat's Claw (modified side slam onto the knee). One … two … THREE? The crowd was in shock as Hughes was able to pin the Warrior. The Cat had scored his biggest victory yet and Ronnie P. Gossett was gloating from ringside.

Loser Leaves Town Match : Ron Simmons vs. Sid Vicious

image.png.7ecf37a8aaecb87994e5ba394406a6a2.png The Match #10: Psycho Sid Vs. Jinder Mahal In GNW '08 – Wrestling Recaps

For the past while, Sid Vicious has gotten more and more insufferable, bullying and tormenting the rookie wrestlers until finally, Ron Simmons had enough. He drew a line in the sand and the result was this match. By the end of it, there would be only one of them left in PCW. Sid Vicious was clearly determined that it wouldn't be him. He ambushed Simmons before the match with a double axehandle and kept on trying to beat him down. The 2 time all American was not about to go down that easily, and soon was firing back. The two big men slugged it out like titans, doing anything they could to gain the advantage. Ultimately, the end came quite suddenly, with Simmons exploding out of the block to nail Vicious with a crushing spear. The ref counted three and that was that. Paul Bearer didn't seem especially put out by the loss of his man, simply walking away from the ring when the ref made his count. Seems like he has other things on his mind.

Black Tiger vs. Sabu

ORIGINAL BLACK TIGER MASK | FACELESS DJ | Flickrsabu wrestler,Free delivery,OFF66%,welcome to buy!

These two are no strangers to each other, with Sabu having challenged Tiger several times when the masked man was Light Heavyweight champ. He didn't come away with the title, but he came close, and even managed some wins over Tiger after he had lost the title. The two had a fast paced match, with Sabu throwing his daredevil offence at Tiger and the masked man battling back with his peerless counter wrestling and well honed instincts. It was a constant thrill ride and the fans were loving every second of it. Tiger tried to put Sabu away for good by setting him up for the Black Tiger Driver. However, Sabu was able to counter out if it with a Sunset Flip. He got a two count, but Tiger in turn was able to counter that with a double leg cradle that got the count of three. He may no longer be champion, but Black Tiger is not somebody to be overlooked.

No DQ, No Countout, Loser Leaves Town Match : Fit Finlay vs. Buddy Rose

Fit Finlay - The Official Wrestling Museum image.jpeg.1fe511b9555a882f12fbacf5e2a5c6be.jpeg

With several Loser Leaves Town matches scheduled for San Diego Showdown, this one had perhaps the highest anticipation. The feud has led to several nasty matches, with plentiful interference on both sides. In an effort to eliminate that interference, the Playboy Club, as well as Cannonball Grizzly and Pierre Carl Ouellet, were all banned from the match. It was one on one, and if Rose was scared, he was doing a good job of disguising it. That said, he still did his usual degree of backpedaling , doing everything he could to avoid directly engaging with the Belfast Bruiser. No matter how many dirty blows Rose tried to sneak in, Finlay was relentless in battering him, and things didn't look good for the Playboy. Even pulling brass knucks from his trunks didn't help him for long, as Finlay got them off him after a few shots, using them to bloody his face. It seemed like time was up for Rose when Finlay got him set up for  a piledriver. But then, out of nowhere, Finlay was clobbered from behind by an elbow smash to the back of the head from the top rope. It was "Diamond" Timothy Flowers! He and Angel Acevedo had snuck into the ring and, having blindsided him, proceeded to double team Finlay. The ref protested but, due to the No DQ stipulation, could do nothing to stop it. After beating down Finlay, they got him up and drove him into the mat with a Spike Piledriver. With his enemy now completely laid out, Rose swaggered over, grandly raised his index finger, and placed it on Finlay's chest while Flowers and Acevedo ordered the ref to make the count. The ref had no choice and reluctantly counted the three, sending Fit Finlay out of PCW. As the fans looked on in dismay, the Diamond Exchange gloated and Rose demanded the ringside microphone.

Rose : Nice knowing you, Finlay! If you have a close look at the contract, it clearly says that Teijo Khan, Angel Of Death, Cannonball Grizzly, and Pierre Carl Ouellet are all banned from appearing in this match. No mention of the Diamond Exchange. Hey, it's not my fault I have lots of friend. I'm a popular guy! ("Diamond" Timothy Flower laughs and high fives him.) If you knew anything about my history, you would know that Diamond Tim and I go way back. And if you looked a little closer at my history, you would have known that, a few years ago, I suckered Roddy Piper with this exact same play. I guess the Irish are just as dumb as the Scottish. *loud boos from the crowd* And hey, I suppose we can throw the Dutch in with the same group. Hey, Little Dutch Boy … you thought you had me! YOU THOUGHT YOU HAD ME! But you just keep failing to learn that nobody outsmarts the Playboy. Get used to these smiling, handsome faces, because the Playboy Club and the Diamond Exchange are going to keep on ruling PCW for a long time to come!

Billy Jack Haynes vs. Cactus Jack

Billy Jack Haynes (@BJHWrestling) / Twitter Mick Foley – Movies, Bio and Lists on MUBI

Billy Jack Haynes seemed at something of a loss as to what to do with the always unconventional Cactus Jack. No matter what Haynes did to him, the man from Truth Or Consequences would laugh and get back up, advancing like something out of a horror movie. Cactus' own offense was wearing away at Billy Jack, and the popular Oregon native had to dig deep to keep going. He finally hit a huge clothesline while Cactus was standing on the ring apron, sending him crashing into the ringside barricade. Even that only slowed him down, and Cactus staggered to his feet and pulled himself back into the ring. Haynes finally brought him down with a crushing tackle, then hit the Shoulderbreaker to get the pinfall. Sunshine tended to her man Billy Jack after the match, but both he and Cactus got a round of applause for the intensity of their struggle.

After the Southern Boys returned to PCW at Phoenix Firestorm, it didn't take long for they and the Midnight Express to develop an intense rivalry. The two teams have done battle up and down the West Coast, with both sides taking victories at different times. A frequent deciding factor has been the presence of the manager of the Midnight Express, Jim Cornette. But for this match, Cornette seemed unusually subdued, perhaps shaken by the loss of his bodyguard Big Bubba Rogers the previous night. Regardless, his men gave it their all, with a thrilling tag match that seemed like it could go either way. The Midnights looked like they would take it when Lane knocked Smothers down with a Savate Kick, but Armstrong was the legal man, and sent Lane to the mat with a clothesline from behind. He then went up top and hit a flying elbow smash to give the win to the resurgent Southern Boys.

Loser Leaves Town Street Fight : Barry Windham vs. The One Man Gang

Barry Windham - WikipediaRasslin' History 101 on Twitter: ""The Big 747":One Man Gang.1987 https://t.co/7kxkm8LycH" / Twitter

The last Loser Leaves Town Match caps of the long war between Barry Windham and the One Man Gang. This is a war that has cost both men a lot of blood and has cost Barry Windham the Pacific Heavyweight Title, and tonight is where it all ends. There would only be one survivor, and both men came dressed for battle. Gang was sporting his traditional vest and came armed with a heavy chain. Windham was wearing a leather vest, leather chaps, and had a thick leather belt with a big heavy metal buckle. As the two circled each other, Windham took off his belt and wrapped it around his fist with the buckle facing outwards. Seemingly, not as intimidating as a chain. But Windham used his cunning, luring Gang into attempting to lash him with the chain in the corner, only to dodge out of the way while the chain wrapped itself around the corner turnbuckle. He then took down Gang with a clothesline, disarming him. He pounded the prone Gang's head with the belt buckle , busting him open, before choking him with the belt. He continued to beat on the Big 747 until Gang was able to get back to his feet and fire back , eventually busting Windham open. The two men were a bloody mess as the match wore on, neither wanting to be the one to give in. Gang tried to take out Windham for good by driving him face first into the chain in the corner, only for Windham to block it and send Gang's head into the chain. He then wrapped the chain around Gang's head and brought him down to the mat with a running Bulldog Headlock, only getting a two count. He then wrapped the chain around his own arm and went up to the top rope. He waited for Gang to stagger to his feet, then hit him with a chain assisted top rope flying lariat. This got the three count, giving the hard earned win to Windham. Barry had won the war and could finally move on with his life.

Pacific Television Title Match : Ed Gantner © vs. Bret Hart

Ed Gantner – Online World of WrestlingBret "The Hitman" Hart - An Evening with the WWE Wrestling Legend - Tidemark Theatre

Gantner has mostly been a fighting champion since winning the TV title at Phoenix Firestorm, but has strangely been missing in action for the past few weeks. He was certainly present for this match as he made his way to the ring with his manager Ronnie P. Gossett by his side. Although most of the crowd booed him, the Bull Pen cheered loudly when he raised the belt over his head. He was certainly in for a tough night, as he would be facing one of the fastest rising young stars in PCW. Bret Hart has come very far in 1987, going from one half of the former Golden State Tag champs to being a singles challenger for the TV title. Although Gantner had three inches and a considerable amount of muscle mass on Hart, Bret would not be intimidated, matching the big Bull's stare with a steely gaze of his own. The champ tried to use he considerable power to bully Hart, but Bret seemed to know how to come back from every move. It was a duel of Gantner's strength and fury against Bret's skill and cunning. Little by little, Gantner slowed down and Bret was catching up with him. The fans were on the edge of their seats as Hart seemed to come closer and closer to pulling off a major upset. It seemed all for naught when Gantner finally had him lined up for the Bull Hammer (running forearm smash to the face). But Bret stopped him dead in his tracks coming off the ropes with a standing dropkick, then took him down with a side Russian Legsweep. He then applied the Sharpshooter, and a gasp went up from the crowd, knowing this could spell the end of the match. Gantner used his last reserves of strength to pull him self closer, closer to the ropes … but then finally gave out, unable to make the last few feet. He tapped out and surrendered the match and the TV title to Bret Hart. The fans were ecstatic at the crowning of the new champ. Gantner insisted on putting the belt around Hart's waist, and they shook hands, with Bret raising Gantner's arm as a sign of respect for his legacy as the former champion.

Pacific Tag Team Title Match : The Bomb Squad (Chris Candido & Al Snow) © vs. Coast 2 Coast (John Tatum & Jack Victory)

Chris Candido - IMDbLeif Cassidy | Ring the Damn BellRasslin' History 101 on Twitter: "Two men who began teaming together in the UWF before going over to World Class Championship Wrestling:Jack Victory and "Hollywood" John Tatum back in 1987 https://t.co/gCMvLBXaNU" /

Strange as it seems, the team of John Tatum and Jack Victory have become unlikely fan favorites in PCW. Their hard partying, Go To Hell style has won them the admiration of the crowds in their pursuit of their former allies the Bomb Squad. This would be their best shot at the Pacific Tag Team Titles, and Coast 2 Coast were determined to make it count. Snow and Candido hadn't been seeing eye to eye of late, but have still managed to hold onto the titles. They seemed to be working well this evening, smoothly tagging in and out and hitting their trademark combination moves. But as the match wore on and the challengers kept after them, the connection became increasingly frayed. Candido kept trying to use more and more gutter tactics, to the increasing disgust of Snow. When Tatum collided with the ref, Candido grabbed one of the title belts, looking to use it to knock out Tatum. But Snow grabbed it from him, not wanting to win that way. The two engaged in a tug of war with the belt until Snow let it go, only for Candido to walk right into a Superkick from a recovered Tatum. Snow just stood and looked on while the ref made the three count, giving the titles to Coast 2 Coast. Tatum and Victory stood triumphant in the ring, while Snow and Candido squabbled all of the way back to the locker room.

Pacific Heavyweight Title Match : Nick Bockwinkel © vs. Curt Hennig

Nick Bockwinkel - WikipediaNEW PHOTO ESSAY - CURT HENNIG (PART 1) | Wwf superstars, Wrestling news, Mr perfect

After two long and glorious nights of wrestling, this would be the crowning jewel. The match for it all. Ever since his arrival in PCW in January, Hennig has steadily risen in the rankings, battling one foe and another towards coming out on top in the battle royal to earn this shot at the heavyweight title. Meanwhile, Bockwinkel shocking return to the west coast in April at Vegas Vengeance was soon followed by his victory over Barry Windham at Seattle Showdown for the title. Since then, Bockwinkel has defended PCW's top prize against an array of top contenders, all the time emerging triumphant. But it has seemed more and more that Hennig may well have his number, getting pinfalls in tag matches and even going the limit in an epic hour long draw. It all led up to this match, which Bockwinkel swore would be Hennig's last shot. The match opened cautiously, with both men testing the defenses of the other and tests of strength proving inconclusive. They followed with a lengthy mat wrestling duel, with both men having the advantage at different points but neither able to hold their opponent down for long. They then opened up their offense, and the match kicked into high gear. Hennig had youth, strength, and energy on his side. But Bockwinkel had skill, experience, and incredible conditioning backing him up, along with considerable veteran instincts. He managed to escape every pinning predicament Hennig put him in, and came very close to putting away his young challenger. Hennig started taking risks, whipping Bock into the corner and charging in for a lariat. Bockwinkel dodged out of the way, but Hennig caught himself at the last second from crashing into the corner turnbuckle. Bockwinkel grabbed him in a waistlock, going for a belly to back suplex. Hennig was able to kick back from the corner with both feet and flip over Bockwinkel, following up with a belly to back suplex of his own. One … two … THREE!!!! Hennig had pulled it off! He had pinned Bockwinkel's shoulders to the mat and won the Pacific Heavyweight Title. The crowd roared their approval as Bockwinkel presented him with the belt and put it around his waist. Ron Simmons, Dingo Warrior, Billy Jack Haynes, Bret Hart, John Tatum, Jack Victory, Steve Armstrong and Tracy Smothers all ran out to the ring to congratulate the new champion, with Simmons and Warrior hoisting him onto their shoulders. A triumphant finish for the last big show for Pacific Coast Wrestling in 1987. And what will 1988 have in store? Stay tuned to find out!

Great event.  San Diego showdown is one of my favorite events of the year as you truly put in a lot of time planning for PCW.  With so many great matches, I think my favorite was Big Bubba and Texas Red.  It seems like the Undertaker is coming.  I admit, I was surprised when you traded him away awhile back but now he seems like he is moving to the top of your roster.

Other highlights for me were

Pillman vs Hart-two great wrestlers

Playboy Buddy Rose-  Great use of the stipulations here.  Good booking.

Bock handing the title to Hennig

So many LLT matches.  Usually, I would think this to be crazy but you explained so well a few shows back about newcomers and limited roster spots.  Made all this matches so much more important.

Great job and year by PCW.  Looking forward to 88

Here we go, night 1!

I was pulling for St. Clair but Payne was on his A game.

I'll be watching the rise of Doug Furnas.

Rick Gantner proves himself with a big win over Double J.

Morton takes the fall but proves he's one tough customer.

Severn vs. Akira has been one of my favorite feuds. Big win for Severn!

The Anvil/Young feud was so well done and the pay off was incredible. Anvil wins a bloodbath. Young might be gone from PCW but he doesn't have to hang his head low. Maybe he'll find a new mentor...

I'm calling it now, Barr and Guerrero will be the team to watch in 88.

WOW! The Heart Punch returns! What a time to do it! Bubba's gone and Red leaves with Bearer. What an ending.

That win over the Sawyers proves British Steel are the real deal and can go with the best of them.

SSM gave Backlund one heck of a challenge. I know Backlund was sweating that one.

After a night like this, there's a lot of pressure on the main event to deliver. Go with what's hot, a LHW title match. Pillman and Owen tear the house down and it could've gone either way. Pillman retains in an absolute classic.

Let me catch my breath, ok, night 2.

Malenkos have been racking up wins and get another big one over the Guerreros.

Pierre and Grizzly get a most satisfying win and sending Khan packing was icing on the cake.

I have to admit, I was surprised that Big Cat got the win over Warrior. I love Cat's finisher and it gets put over huge tonight. Big things are defiantly coming Cat's way.

Oh man! Simmons puts an end to Sid's terror. Simmons has built up quite a resume is Pacific. I mean he's put down Stan Hansen and now Sid. He's one bad dude!

I agree, after that win over Sabu, Tiger is not to be looked over.

Credit to Rose, he might be the smartest man in wrestling. I enjoyed Finlay's run but oh man am I looking forward to the Playboy Club and Diamond Exchange alliance.

Cactus is nuts! Billy finally finds a way to get the win. Fun match!

I said Barr and Eddie will be the team to watch in 88, but the Southern Boys are right there. Huge win over the Midnights.

After one of the most brutal feuds in PCW, Windham finally puts OMG away. Looking forward to seeing what's next for Windham.

Bret wins the TV title! Great match and nice display of sportsmanship by Ed. Bret's reign will be amazing.

YES! Coast to Coast wins the Tag Titles! I love these guys. Snow and Candido should be reminded of what happened between the last Knights who had grievances.

Bock and Hennig cap off the event with an epic title bout. Hennig does it and the celebration is on! Class act by Bock. He truly went out like a champion. Let's get ready for the dawning of a new era.

This event had it all. Props to all your hard work.

Chavo Guerrero vs. "The Cuban Assassin" Angel Acevedo

image.jpeg.823ff165c57df28a675361bc58a1f0df.jpeg Autographed Cuban Assassin 8x10 Photograph. | EstateSales.org

Angel Acevedo is coming of a victory in a tag match at San Diego Battleground, and while he and "Diamond" Timothy Flowers may not have inflicted as much damage on Todd Morton as they would have liked, the Diamond Exchange certainly justified their reputation as a force to be reckoned with. He certainly showed why he is one of the most feared competitors as he went all out on Chavo Guerrero. The veteran Chavo was no pushover, but couldn't figure out a way to overcome Acevedo's offense, and the Cuban Assassin put him down with his dreaded DDT. It looks like one had best watch their step if they cross the path of the Diamond Exchange.

Interview : Don Coss stands in the ring

Don Coss : Ladies and gentlemen, my next guest seems to have undergone quite a transformation at San Diego Battleground … Texas Red!

How old is The Undertaker, what is the WWE star's real name and will he fight at WrestleMania 35? | The SunPaul Bearer photo tribute | WWEMaxx Payne

The crowd was puzzled but started to boo the formerly popular Red as he came out. They did so as he was accompanied by the much despised Paul Bearer and Maxx Payne. Red's transformation was apparent, as not only was he sporting the long black coat he had recently been taken to wearing, but also black gloves and a black hat.

Coss : My first question is for Paul Bearer … a lot of the fans want to know, just what sort of hold do you have on Texas Red? What sort have spell have you cast?

Bearer : I did nothing but show him the truth! I showed him the darkness at the heart of all of humanity. I showed that he had to embrace that darkness to find his true self. And he did … he went to the darkest part of himself to finally defeat Big Bubba Rogers. And know that he has seen his true self, he can't go back, and he fully accepts his place in the Neighborhood Of Evil.

Coss : But Texas Red, you once said that it would be a cold day in Hell before you would have someone like Paul Bearer as a manager.

Red : Well, it looks like hell just froze over. Everything that Paul Bearer said was true. I tried to deny my true self, to do things the way the fans wanted me too. All it got me were constant attacks from the likes of Big Bubba Rogers, always dragging me down. I had to tap into the dark energy at the heart of myself and unleash it, ridding myself of Rogers for good. And that is just the start of it. In the time to come, we will unleash a horde of Creatures Of The Night, ravaging PCW until all of the West Coast is engulfed by the Neighborhood Of Evil.  You can forget about Texas Red. That man is dead and buried. From here on, I will now and always be …… THE UNDERTAKER!

Billy Jack Haynes  vs. The Angel Of Death

Billy Jack Haynes (@BJHWrestling) / TwitterAngel of Death (wrestler) - Wikipedia

Billy Jack came out of a grueling match with Cactus Jack at San Diego Showdown but emerged triumphant. Determined to keep that momentum going, he and Sunshine immediately signed a match with the big man of the Playboy Club. The Angel Of Death was not about to give up to the Oregon powerhouse. The two men had a jarring battle of power moves until Billy Jack leveled the Angel Of Death with a slingshot clothesline, then followed it up with a Shoulder Breaker to take the match. Billy Jack is on a roll, and it looks like the sky is the limit for him in 1988.

Interview : Don Coss stands in the ring

Don Coss : Ladies and gentlemen, my next guests have specifically requested time to make some major announcements … the Army!

Leo Burke - IMDbCompound FACTure: Breaking In With All The Useless Wrestling Facts and Stats You Can Handle | Ring the Damn BellSteve Blackman - His Real-Life Battle with DarknessTodd Morton shares his thoughts after July 20th - YouTubeDan Severn (Page 1) - Line.17QQ.comJeff Jarrett: photos | WWEDoug Furnas - Alchetron, The Free Social Encyclopedia

The crowd cheers as Leo Burke leads Shane Douglas, Steve Blackman, and Todd Morton out to the ring. But it doesn't stop there, as they are joined by Dan Severn, Jeff Jarrett and Doug Furnas.

Coss : Wow, this is quite a turnout, Leo Burke. Looks like an actual Army! You had asked for time to make some announcements. What is on your mind?

Burke : Well, Don Coss, PCW has been going through some major changes lately, and the Army will be changing with it. But before we get to that, our good friend Jeff Jarrett has something to say.

Jarrett : Thanks, Leo. When I first arrived in Pacific Coast Wrestling, I had a goal. I was going to establish my own name and my own reputation, one outside that of my father. I've been here a bit short of 2 years, and I now feel I have accomplished that. Both as singles wrestler and tagging with my buddy Dan here, I have proved myself to be my own wrestler. Now that I have accomplished that, the time has come for me to return home. I'm glad I have had the time I have had on the West Coast, but I am getting a bit homesick, and I am going to take my leave.

Shane Douglas : Not to steal Jeff's thunder, but I am also moving on to new opportunities. I have loved being part of Black Gold with Steve, we've had ups and downs and even won the Pacific Tag Titles. I will always have good memories of my time in the Army, I've learned so much from Leo. And I know that Todd here will do great things in the Army.

Morton : Thanks, Shane, we've had some rocky times but I am glad we were able to patch things up and reestablish our friendship. I will do my best to do you proud.

Blackman : Buddy, you have been the best partner I could have ever hoped for. I will miss you, but I know you are destined for great things.

Burke : Like I said, changes. We are all going to miss Shane and Jeff. But I have been looking far and wide for the next recruit for the Army, and I think I have found someone who will amaze everyone. Even so … ever since I founded the Army, I have been very proud to help a lot of young and talented wrestlers reach their full potential. Yet that has come at a bit of a cost to my own career. It's been challenging, dividing my attention between training wrestlers and also trying to focus on my own matches. To that end, I am bringing in someone I trust to help me. My new Sergeant At Arms and chief trainer for the Army … Dan Severn! Dan has just the background the Army needs. A top level collegiate wrestler, master of several martial arts, and a double tough son of a gun. Glad to have you aboard, Dan.

Severn : Thanks, Leo. I came to PCW as part of the Hollywood Knights, and that experience was so bad, I swore I would walk my own path from then on. But a pesky little brat named Jeff Jarrett just wouldn't leave me alone (Jarrett grins behind him) and I found myself with a partner. After a while, I realized that it is good to have friends. Good to have someone to watch your back. Good to have someone with whom to share the high times, the low times, and the times in between. The Army are a great group, and I am looking forward to working with them. To that end, and with Leo's permission, I did a little recruitment drive of my own. I talked with Doug Furnas here, told him about the benefits of being in the Army and what a great bunch of guys they are, and immediately signed on.

Furnas : That's right, Dan. Like him, I used to be skeptical about being in a group. I saw what that was like from my time in the Pride and I wanted nothing to do with it. But since I returned to PCW, I watched how the Army worked together. Saw how they supported each other, how they helped each other get better as a wrestler. I've had some success in PCW, but I want to become the best that I can be. I'm looking forward to working with Dan, Leo, Steve and Todd, and showing Pacific Coast Wrestling just what I am capable of.

Burke : It's great to have you with us, Doug. 1988 is going to belong to the Army, and we will be bigger and better than ever!

Pierre Carl Ouellet vs. "Diamond" Timothy Flowers

Blogue de PIERRE-CARL-OUELLET - Blog de PIERRE-CARL-OUELLET - Skyrock.comDiamond Timothy Flowers transitions to Streetfighter | Slam Wrestling

Both of these men were victorious in tough tag matches at San Diego Battleground and wanted to prove that was no fluke. Flowers certainly had the edge in experience and tried to be more ruthless in this match. But Ouellet was strong, tough, and determined, giving a ferocious battle to the leader of the Diamond Exchange. Both men were battered and bruised by the end of the match, when Flowers was finally able to put Ouellet down with a piledriver. Flowers came out on top, but he certainly had to work hard to do so.

Interview : Don Coss stands in the ring

Don Coss : Ladies and gentlemen, my next guests are coming off several big victories at San Diego Battleground … the Brigade!

image.jpeg.9d5c43ae302c17d97bb749100c4c91a0.jpegBarry Windham - Wikipediaimage.png.7ecf37a8aaecb87994e5ba394406a6a2.png

The crowd cheers the fan favorite group as they head out to the ring. But while Curt Hennig (the Pacific Heavyweight Title belt around his waist), Barry Windham, and Ron Simmons are smiling as they high five with the fans on the way to meet up with Don Coss, there is a bit of restraint, as if something serious is weighing on their minds.

Coss : Curt Hennig, first of all, congratulations on winning the Pacific Heavyweight Title.

Hennig : Thank you , Don, that means a lot. It was quite a struggle, but I knew I would come through. Nick Bockwinkel was an incredible champion, and I hope I will carry this title with the class and prestige that he did.

Windham : We are all very proud of Curt. If anyone was going to hold my title, I'm glad it was him. (Curt Hennig gives him the side eye, but shrugs.) He's going to be a great champion going into 1988, and I have some plans of my own. But 1988 is a time of change. Ron here has something to say.

Simmons : Thanks, Barry. Well, there seems to be a lot of this going on tonight, but I regret to say that tonight is my last night in Pacific Coast Wrestling. (Disappointed sounds from the audience) I have had a great time on the West Coast, and Barry and Curt have been incredible partners, but I have been offered a chance for a new start in Windy City, and I can't refuse a challenge. But before I go, I want to ask the Dingo Warrior to come out to the ring.

Dingo Warrior walks down the aisle to join them, a puzzled look on his face.

Dingo Warrior aka Ultimate warrior wccw | Wwe legends, Wrestling superstars, Professional wrestling

Simmons : Dingo, you and I have teamed up many times. You are strong, you are fast, and you are determined. I can't think of anybody better to take my place in the Brigade, and Barry and Curt would be thrilled to have you on the team. What do you say?

Dingo has a sad look on his face.

Dingo : Ron Simmons, my friend. You honour me greatly with your offer … but I cannot accept. (gasps of surprise from the fans and the Brigade) Like you, I have decided it is time to move on. I am on a quest to become as great as I can be. Once I have learned all I can in one place, I must seek adventures new in an unknown land. This is the next step I must take in the journey to become the Ultimate Warrior. But know this well, Ron Simmons, that you and the Brigade have been true friends to me, and I will always treasure the memories of the battles we have fought side by side.

Hennig : Well, Dingo Warrior, while we are disappointed that we won't be having you on the team, I can understand your reasons. I am sure you do great things wherever you go. But no matter what you do or where you go, you can always consider yourself an honorary member of the Brigade.

The Brigade members shake Dingo Warrior's hand before they all leave the ring.

Golden State Tag Team Title Match : British Steel (Steven Regal & Robbie Brookside) © vs. Art Barr & Eddie Guerrero

The Golden Boys – in pictures: early years – Eire Alba Art Barr Death - Wrestler Deaths

British Steel survived one of the toughest challenges of their title reign against the Sawyer Brothers at San Diego Battleground. They jumped right from the frying pan into the fire, going straight to another intense challenge from one of the fastest rising teams in PCW. Barr and Guerrero are coming off a victory over the former Pacific Tag champs, the now dissolved Black Steel, and were hot on the heels of Regal and Brookside throughout the match. British Steel kept coming back, but the Wild Things came incredibly close to taking the titles on a number of occasions. Brookside was finally able to reverse an attempted DDT from Barr into a Northern Lights Suplex to pull out the win. The Wild Things certainly gave it their best shot, but British Steel were not going to be denied.

Pacific Coast Wrestling show from the Pacific Coliseum, Vancouver on Pacific Super Cards on ESPN / TSN , December 3rd

Todd Morton vs. Mr. Hito

Although he took the pinfall in his team's loss at San Diego Battleground, Todd Morton was filled with new confidence as he took on Hito. While the Japanese veteran was ruthless as he went after him, Morton persevered , taking Hito down with a quick dropkick before going up top and hitting a flying elbow drop to get the win.

Tony St. Clair vs. The Undertaker

The new look Texas, errrr, Undertaker was completely stone faced as he and Paul Bearer came out to the ring. "Tough" Tony was not about to be intimidated, but no matter what he threw at the Undertaker, the big man just kept on advancing on him. The Undertaker proceeded to dismantle St. Clair before hitting a Tombstone Piledriver for the win. A decisive victory for the big man over one of PCW's top competitors.

Loser Leaves Town Match : Dan Severn vs. Akira Maeda

These two had an incredibly hard fought Submission Match at San Diego Battleground, but that was not enough for these two gladiators. They wouldn't be satisfied until one of them was gone for good, so this match was signed. The two had an incredibly brutal match, with Maeda laying in some incredibly card kicks and Severn executing absolutely crushing Judo throws and suplexes. They wore each other down until Severn exploded with a series of suplexes, hitting an overhead suplex that knocked the wind out of Maeda and getting the pinfall. Severn had triumphed and was now rid of his nemesis once and for all.

Black Gold (Steve Blackman & Shane Douglas) vs. The Midnight Express

There was a lot of buzz for this match, with the word spreading among the fans that this would be Shane Douglas' final match in PCW. With both teams being former Pacific Tag Team champs, there was a lot of prestige in this match, and both teams showed why they had been able to win the top tag prize. This was an exciting bout that went to the Midnights when Douglas ducked his head for a back body drop, only for Eaton to hit him with a swinging neckbreaker. Eaton and Lane followed up with the Rocket Launcher to get the pinfall. After the match, Blackman and Douglas hugged, and the fans applauded Douglas for his great run in Pacific Coast Wrestling.

Bret & Owen Hart vs. Buzz & Hack Sawyer vs. Chavo & Hector Guerrero vs. Joe & Dean Malenko

This would be a special Four Corners Elimination Match between four sets of brothers that was very hotly contested. After a long and ferocious battle, the Sawyers were the first to go out when Owen Hart hit a Moonsault on Hack. Buzz was furious and wanted to go after Owen following the fall but the ref ordered him and his partner to return to the locker room. The remaining teams had an extended technical duel where Hector Guerrero was able to pin Dean Malenko with the Guerrero Clutch. It came down to the Harts and the Guerreros as to who would be the premier family in PCW. Both teams kicked it into high gear, keeping the fans thrilled with a nail biting closing stretch. Chavo tried to beat Bret with a Victory Roll. But Bret countered by rolling through with it and kept Chavo's shoulders to the mat to get the final pinfall. The Harts were triumphant. But after their initial celebration, Hector asked for the ringside microphone. He said that he was sad to say that would be his and Chavo's last match before leaving PCW. Chavo added that they had loved their time in Pacific Coast Wrestling and all the fans, but it was time for them to move on. The Hart Brothers raised the arms of the Guerreros in respect, and the fans gave a standing ovation to Hector and Chavo as a tribute to their time and many accomplishments on the West Coast.

Pacific Heavyweight Title Match : Curt Hennig © vs. Nick Bockwinkel

This would be the first title defense for Hennig and it would be against the former champ. Bock was determined to make Hennig's reign a short one and went all out against the new champion. The two had another long classic, but Hennig was able to execute the Hennig Plex to successfully defend his newly won title. After the match , Bockwinkle stared Hennig in the eye for a long time in the middle of the ring, then offered his hand. The two shook his hands to close off a great night of wrestling.

Jeff Jarrett vs. Black Tiger

Jarrett's last PCW match would be a Light Heavyweight showdown with Black Tiger, and he and the former Light Heavy champ got the night off to a rocking start. Jarrett went for the high risk move when he went up top for a flying cross body press, but Tiger rolled through and ended up on to for the three count. The fans gave a round of applause to Jarrett after the match, giving him a fond farewell.

Doug Furnas vs. Cactus Jack

The newest member of the Army faced off against the former Army member and founder of the Wild Things. Furnas might have wondered exactly just what he had signed up for as Cactus showed him just how wild he was. Furnas was able to catch Cactus coming off the ropes with a power slam , but it took considerable effort to bring down the man from Truth Or Consequences. Furnas had survived his trial by fire and come out on top.

Leo Burke vs. "Diamond" Timothy Flowers

A real hatred has built up between Leo Burke and the Diamond Exchange,  and this match was a clear illustration of that. An out and out fight from the get go, it wound up going to a no contest when the ref was unable to keep control of the match, getting slugged by both competitors. PCW security had to be called out to separate the two.

Pacific Tag Team Title Match : Coast 2 Coast (John Tatum & Jack Victory) © vs. The Bomb Squad (Chris Candido & Al Snow)

Much like Curt Hennig the night before, Coast 2 Coast's first title defense would be against the former champions. Unlike Nick Bockwinkel's focused efforts, however, the Bomb Squad were very scattered in their offense, struggling to get on the same page with each other. When John Tatum collided with the referee, it seemed like the Squad would steal their titles back when Candido brought a chair into the ring. However, Al Snow, clearly still sickened by the carnage of the Jim Neidhart and Gary Young match from San Diego Battleground, decided "No more" and grabbed the chair from Candido. The two engaged in a tug of war , with Candido ultimately pulling the chair from Snow. But he hadn't noticed that Tatum had tagged out, and walked into a big boot to the midsection from Victory that forced him to drop the chair. He was then hit with a Victory-Plex and when the ref crawled over to count the pin, Snow simply looked on in disgust. After the match, Candido and Snow got into a shoving match until the rest of the Knights Templar rushed out. Backlund and Neidhart were clearly siding with Candido and, while there was a tense stare down , eventually Snow simply walked out on his own. It looks like the Knights Templar have lost another member.

Pacific Light Heavyweight Title Match : Brian Pillman © vs. Robbie Brookside

This was an exciting and fast paced high flying match for the hotly contested Light Heavyweight Title. Brookside gave Pillman a real run for his money, but Flyin' Brian was able to hit the Air Pillman for the win.

California & Submission Title Match : Bob Backlund © vs. Barry Windham

Night and PCW's season closed off with a titanic match between the leader of the Knights Templar and the former Pacific Heavyweight champ. After a long and intense battle, Windham hit a top rope dropkick to Backlund on the outside of the ring. Windham was just barely able to make it back into the ring in time, winning the match by countout but not the title.

And that is it for PCW 1987. I know these shows are over a week early , but they were written and ready to go, so I figured why not. While the wrestlers and staff of Pacific Championship Wrestling spend December enjoying a well earned paid vacation on the sunny beaches of Hawaii, I will be hard at work, planning and writing the next year's PCW action so it will all be ready to go in the New Year. But that doesn't mean PCW will be silent. I have some hopefully fun things planned that will be posted in the meantime until regular PCW programming returns in January. And when it does, there will be all sorts of great matches, stories and surprises. What changes are in store for for the Army, the Brigade and the Knights Templar? What fresh nefarious scheme is the Playboy cooking up? Just who are the New Suicide Blondes? For that matter, who are the New Gold Exchange? And all sorts of incredible new stars. The Destruction Crew! Cyrus The Virus! The Holly Cousins! The Bulldozer! The Sin City Superstars! The Animal! Muscle Beach! The Hollywood Vampires! The Force Of July! Stay tuned to see it all in ... Pacific Coast Wrestling!

First up Victoria.

Acevedo spikes Chavo Classic sending a message on behalf of the Diamond Exchange.

PCW will always remember the birth of The Undertaker!

Haynes may have been bruised but he was still too much for AoD.

Severn & Furnas find a new home in the Army as Jarrett & Douglas head off in search of new challenges.

Flowers wins a tough one against PCO.

Simmons & Dingo both move on leaving the Brigade down to two who may not be on the same page.

Wild Things try to turn their momentum into a title reign but it's not too be.

Onwards to Vancouver.

Morton rebounds with a win over Hito.

St Clair becomes the first to rest in peace.

The new head coach of the Army sends Maeda out of town.

Douglas does the classy thing and goes out on his back.

Los Guerreros add their names to the list of talent moving on.

Hennig fends off the former champ for his first defense.

Last stop Kelowna.

Jarrett follows Douglas' lead and goes out putting BT over.

Furnas' first win in the Army is over the deserter Cactus.

Flowers & the General let their mutual loathing overflow.

It seems Snow has reached his breaking point with the Knights Templar.

Flyin' Brian stops Brookside's quest to become a double champion.

Windham's hopes to end 87 a champion don't pan out but he definitely has a rematch coming in 88.

Quite the youth revolution coming in. I can't wait to meet the Hollywood Vampires.

WOW! Times are changing in Pacific! Let's get started.

I can see Cuban Assassin playing the enforcer role well.

Talk about a game changer. We now have the Undertaker!!! RIP Texas Red.

Loving the resurgence of Billy Jack.

The Army says goodbye to old friends but bring in new soldiers.

Flowers has serious momentum going into 88.

Simmons and Warrior made their marks in Pacific, especially Simmons. Did I notice some slight friction between Hennig and Windham? I'll be keeping an eye on that.

Wild Things are proven contenders but British Steel are in the zone right now.

Vancouver

Morton gets a confidence win over Hito.

My man St. Clair is Undertaker's first victim. Texas Red was a proven commodity but this win proves that Taker is going to be something special.

Severn finally puts a stamp on Akiro and one of my favorite feuds.

No better way to go out then going down to Eaton.

I think Pacific made history with a 4 corners brothers match. Harts take it and the Guerreros leave on a classy note. On a funny sidenote, I have Mando Guerrero feuding with Bruce Hart over in the AWA.

Hennig is going to have an incredible reign.

Kelowna

Double J did what he set out to do in Pacific. Let's see what's next for him.

Furnas shows he's a tough soldier by taking down that crazy Cactus Jack.

We'll see some Army/Diamond Exchange battles in 88.

I would say Snow is done with the Knights. However, he better get in good with some friends.

Pillman gets a big win over another champ in Brookside.

Windham doesn't go home with the title but I'm sure has earned a rematch with Mr. Backlund.

1988 feels like the dawning of a new era. Look at all the fresh changes going on in Pacific. I know you've inspired the AWA to up its game.

Lets start by saying that 87 has been a great year for PCW.  I enjoy how you help develop all the stars of the future.  I also liked all the interviews with people saying they were moving on.  I wish they had done this in real life.  I know when stars like Dibiase, Tommy Rich and Kevin Sullivan (when he was a babyface) left Georgia it was like there was a hole left in the show.

Looking forward to seeing the craziness of the Undertaker!  You did an awesome job slow playing this for a few years.

With stars like Windham, Hennig, Backlund etc + all the young talent coming in, I am looking forward to 88.

The scene opens up on a construction site. The camera circles around a bulldozer, catching it from several angles. Its mass and destructive power are clear even as it sits still. The camera then comes around to the front of the bulldozer. Standing in front of the blade is a tall man, dressed in bluejeans and bare chested but for a leather vest. He has long dark blonde hair and wears a bandana. One can sense his considerable strength as he stands with his arms folded. He seems quite fierce and imposing … until he breaks out into a grin and winks to the camera. The shot fades to black and the text appears on the screen :
