I would say Chono is a suitable replacement for the Syndicate. Things are heating up for Firestorm. Rose and the SCS title reigns might be coming to an end. Then again, the Playboy Club always seems to find a way. We shall see. Bigelow reveals himself and has targeted Hart. Bam Bam vs. the Hitman will be a good one at Firestorm. LA, Albright is back! You know you're going to get your money's worth with an Eddie/Owen match. The Destruction Crew is in need of some guidance. Firestorm can't come fast enough for Rhodes and the Southern Boys. Brookside looks good as he looks ahead to regaining the LHW title. The Brigade are looking united and strong. Santa Barbara, Spicoli returns but Christopher spoils it. Backlund can still go. The Demon and Cactus get crazy and things will get crazier at Firestorm. Flowers better be on his A game because a red hot Pillman is coming for his TV title. If Windham's arm is still bothering him, that could be big time trouble facing Severn. Cheetah Kid is ready for Brookside. rainmakerrtv Posted August 19, 2023 Author Report Share Posted August 19, 2023 Pacific Coast Wrestling presents Phoenix Firestorm from Arizona Veterans Memorial Coliseum, Phoenix, Night One ?? ?? & ?? ?? vs. The Hollywood Vampires (The Vampire Warrior & Jimmie Lee) PCW's biggest show of the summer comes in with a fair amount of buzz and speculation among the fans as to who would be the mystery duo facing the newly reunited Hollywood Vampires. The buzz increased as Scott Hall, who had his own match on Night Two, came out and got on the ringside microphone . Hall : I've had enough of the Neighborhood Of Evil! Last week, they took out Lou and Tom, two good men from the Brigade, and they have been running roughshod over PCW for too long! Well, from now on, the Neighborhood Of Evil is condemned! I've called in a couple of friends, and they said they were more than happy to come back home to the Pacific Coast and teach these creeps a lesson. The first comes from Honolulu, Hawaii … "The American Ninja" Brian Adams! The crowd cheered as the former PCW tag team standout heads to the ring. He shook hands with the fans as he headed to the ring but his face showed he was clearly focused on the task at hand. Hall : The second hasn't been in PCW in some time, but has quite a legacy here. Also hailing from Honolulu, Hawaii … Ricky "The Dragon" Steamboat! The crowd exploded as the former Pacific Heavyweight Champion raced to the ring. The Vampires clearly were caught off guard but tried to ambush him and Adams as he entered the ring. No dice, as Steamboat and Adams were clearly loaded for bear, blasting the Warrior and the Gravedigger with chops and kicks. The Vampires did what they could, but their opponents would not be denied, with Adams clotheslining Vampire Warrior out of the ring while Steamboat hit a Flying Cross Body Press for the win. This could be the turning of the tide in the invasion by the Neighborhood Of Evil. Brian Christopher vs. Black Tiger For someone in the first year of his career, Christopher has compiled quite an impressive record. Under the tutelage of his manager James E. Cornette, he has put together quite the streak of wins. Tonight, he would be putting that streak on the line against a fierce competitor, the returning former Pacific Light Heavyweight Champion Black Tiger. No small task, and Tiger certainly didn't go easy on him. It took all Christopher had to block the Black Tiger Bomb, and he was able to turn it around into the Chris Cross (Full Nelson Facebuster) to pull out the pinfall. A stern test, but one Christopher was able to pass. Owen Hart vs. Chris Adams One of the more surprising returns to PCW is Chris Adams, who has not been seen on the West Coast in quite some time. Almost as surprising is his new manager, a flashy loudmouth by the name of Diamond Dallas Page. Page certainly made an impression on the fans, although not a positive one, while Adams got down to business with Owen. The two had a fierce battle with Owen keeping pace with Adams while Page kept up a steady stream of trash talk. Perhaps it was this distraction that made the difference, as a mistimed leapfrog by Owen left him open for a clothesline from Adams. Adams followed up with a Superkick that brought him the victory in his return. Shinya Hashimoto & Leo Burke vs. Genichiro Tenryu & Masahiro Chono Last week, Tenryu's new protégé Masahiro Chono made an impressive debut with a win over Jerry Lynn. This week, he would be fighting side by side with his mentor against the General of the Army and his own pupil, Shinya Hashimoto. Hashimoto and Chono were very keen on staying in the ring against each other, and managed to fight each other to a standstill. The match ended up coming down to the veteran partners, with Tenryu catching Burke in a Power Bomb for the win. Hashimoto and Chono were giving each other the side eye after the match, and you can bet these two won't be kept apart for long. Billy Jack Haynes vs. Louie Spicolli Ever since the attack by Scotty The Body on his manager Sunshine, Billy Jack Haynes has taken all that he can take and won't take any more. He took out his frustrations on poor Louie Spicolli, beating the rookie from pillar to post before trapping him in the Full Nelson. Spicolli screamed out his surrender, but it took the threat of suspension from the ref to get Billy Jack to release the hold. Heaven help whoever is in the ring with him when Billy Jack finally blows his stack. Tony St. Clair vs. Steven Regal Regal turned his back on his friend Tony St. Clair to join forces with the Knights Templar, and ever since that betrayal, the two have had a bitter feud with many heated matches. It was clear in this one that Regal still held St. Clair in considerable contempt, while "Tough" Tony was in no mood for forgiveness. Regal seemed somewhat unprepared for the level of sheer rage coming from St. Clair, and was on the retreat for much of the match. He wound up going to the gutter to steal the victory, pulling out a set of brass knucks from his trunks and using them to KO St. Clair, just out of sight of the ref. It looks like Mr. Bob Backlund has been a profoundly bad influence on Regal. Falls Count Anywhere Match : Vic Steamboat vs. Cactus Jack Back in June, Cactus Jack brutally attacked Vic Steamboat with a steel chair, putting him out of action for a couple of weeks. On his return, the Demon has sworn to get his vengeance on the Man From Truth Or Consequences, with several matches that could not be contained to the ring. These two tore into each other with unrelenting fury, going up and down the aisles and all over the arena. Both men were a battered and bloody mess by the end of the match. Cactus tried to put Vic away with a Double Arm DDT, but Vic powered out with a backdrop. Vic then hit the Demon Suplex (Tiger Suplex) on the concrete and knocked Cactus out, scoring the ultimate victory. Jim Neidhart vs. Gary Albright In his brief first run in PCW at the beginning of the year, Gary Albright seemed nigh unstoppable, and now that he has returned, The Animal has been looking to pick up right where he left off. The Anvil would certainly prove to be a tough nut to crack, giving as good as he got and tenaciously fighting out of any attempt to get him in the Dragon Sleeper. Albright was not able to hit the Dragon Suplex, but was able to hoist Neidhart up in a German Suplex to get a hard fought one two three. Golden State Tag Team Title Match : Art Barr & Eddie Guerrero © vs. The Midnight Express The Wild Things have been on a wild run as Golden State Tag Champs, but tonight they would be facing a team possibly even more well versed in tricks and skullduggery than themselves. Even with that in mind, Barr's frankly bizarre Beetlejuice persona was in effect, keeping the Midnights wary of his unpredictable behaviour. Barr and Eddie kept one step ahead of Stan and Bobby until Eddie attempted an over the shoulder neckbreaker on Lane, only to have it blocked by a backwards low blow kick. Lane then sent Barr flying out of the ring with a Savate Kick and brought in Eaton for the Rocket Launcher on Guerrero. The ref counted to three and we have new Golden State Tag Team Champs. The fans and James E. Cornette were jubilant as Sweet Stan and Beautiful Bobby held the belts over their heads. California Title Match : Buddy Rose © vs. Dustin Rhodes From the moment he stole the California Title from Scott Hall, Buddy Rose has used every dirty trick in his voluminous book to keep the title in his hands. From foreign objects to outside interference, Rose has held onto the title, sometimes only by the skin of his teeth. Well, his back was well and truly to the wall in this match with Dustin Rhodes. Not only were Tina Ferrari, Scotty The Body, and Mark Starr banned from ringside, but so were "Diamond" Timothy Flowers and the Diamond Exchange (whatever is left of it). While Rhodes' colleagues in the Brigade were also banned, the Grandson Of A Plumber showed no fear at facing Rose on his own. Rose attempted his usual stalling tactics, but Dustin was having none of it, taking the fight right to the Playboy. Again and again, Rose was able to escape being pinned, but Dustin was clearly catching up with him. The Playboy nearly caught Dustin in the Inside Out Backbreaker, but Dustin pivoted in midair and countered with a cross body press. Unfortunately, one of his legs hit the ref , who went sprawling to the mat. When Dustin went over to try to revive the ref, the Playboy sprang his trap. He signaled to the back and out came Gary Albright. Rose had figured out a way around the match stipulations, and was pointing to his head and grinning smugly at how clever he was. However Gary Albright never made it to the ring, as he was attacked from behind by Billy Jack Haynes. As Albright and Haynes slugged it out in the aisle, Rose started to panic. He attempted to head for the hills, but suddenly found his way blocked by Bret and Owen Hart and the Southern Boys. Chased back into the ring, he was immediately hit with a Bulldog Headlock from Dustin. The ref had now recovered and made the three count , and the crowd exploded in cheers. As Billy Jack put the California Title belt on him, Rhodes demanded the ringside mic while the Playboy retreated in shame. Dustin : Hey, Rose! It's not my fault if you have a lot of enemies! Haynes, the Southern Boys and the Harts laughed and celebrated with the new champion. 2/3 Falls Pacific Light Heavyweight Title Match : The Cheetah Kid © vs. Robbie Brookside Brookside managed to take the Light Heavyweight Title from the Cheetah Kid, but only held it for less than a week before the Kid took it back from him. Brookside has hungered for another shot at the title ever since, and got one in the main event of the first night of Phoenix Firestorm. The match got off to a very hot start, with both men going full tilt from the moment the bell rang. The two set a wicked pace with dropkicks and high flying moves, but Brookside was able to hit an over the shoulder neckbreaker to score the first fall. When the ref restarted the match, Brookside was all over the Kid, determined to get the second fall to take the title. This caused him to get reckless, as he ran into a boot to the midsection, which Cheetah Kid followed with a Power Bomb to even up the match at one all apiece. Both men started to crank up the intensity, determined to do everything it took to come out on top. The fans were breathless as they went into overdrive until Cheetah Kid hit a spectacular dropkick which sent Brookside to the mat. The masked man then went up top and hit a somersault senton which put an end to the match. The Cheetah Kid was able to retain his title, to the satisfaction of the fans. Up next : Night Two! rainmakerrtv Posted August 19, 2023 Author Report Share Posted August 19, 2023 Pacific Coast Wrestling presents Phoenix Firestorm from Arizona Veterans Memorial Coliseum, Phoenix, Night Two Stormfront (Al Snow & Alex Porteau) vs. Joe & Dean Malenko From seemingly out of nowhere, Stormfront have gone on a roll of wins that has caught the attention of the PCW fans. One of those wins was an upset over the Malenkos, and the two brothers came into this match eager to even the score. Joe and Dean really took it to Stormfront, with high impact suplexes and painful stretch holds. But Dan Severn had trained his men to be tough, and Snow and Porteau battled back with grit and determination. Snow was able to block attempts by Dean to put him away with a Brainbuster, then tagged in Porteau. The two hit the Storm Warning (modified double Flapjack that drives the opponent down onto his head) on Dean and scored another impressive upset. Stormfront are rapidly proving to be the sleeper team of PCW's highly competitive tag team division. Jerry Lynn vs. Chris Candido These two young stars have formed a fast rivalry that has led to a series of exciting house show matches over the past few months, with both men taking the win at different points. The prestige of a win on a PCW Mega Show was a strong motivating factor, and both men went all out in this fast paced match. There were plenty of near falls and the crowd gasped every time one was able to just barely make the kickout. Lynn tried to put Candido down for the count with a piledriver, but Candido blocked it and slingshot Lynn into the corner turnbuckle. He then went up top and hit a New Jersey Jam to get his biggest win yet. The Force Of July (The Patriot & The Eagle) vs. The Destruction Crew The Destruction Crew have seemed a bit lost since their manager Ronnie P. Gossett was sent packing from PCW. That might turn around with the appearance of their new manager, Diamond Dallas Page. They certainly showed renewed confidence and well as added ruthlessness as they took on the popular masked duo of the Patriot and the Eagle. The Force Of July were certainly not about to take this lying down, fighting back with their own considerable power and athleticism . It took the direct interference of DDP to tip the balance, as he tripped the Eagle while coming off the ropes to set him up for a Double Underhook Suplex from Bloom. Enos was able to hold off the Patriot while Bloom got the three count, and just like that, the Destruction Crew were back on track. Dragon Azul vs. Silver King Last week saw the debuts of two intriguing new players in the Light Heavyweight division, and the fans were eager to see what they could do on the big stage of Phoenix Firestorm. They certainly disappoint, having a highly competitive match with both men impressing the crowd. It looked like it would go to Dragon as he had Silver King set up for an Asai Moonsault, but King got his knees up in time, then swiftly capitalized with a Moonsault for the victory. After the match, the fans applauded the efforts of both of these bright young stars of the future. The Footloose vs. The Can-Am Express The competition in the PCW tag team division has reached a fever pitch, and right at the forefront have been the young Japanese team of Kawada and Fuyuki and the newly formed pairing of Furnas and Lafon. These two duos put on a breathtaking showcase of tag team excellence, with both teams going all out when the bell rang, signaling a 20 minute time limit draw. You can bet that these two teams will be champing at the bit to get another shot at each other. Bret Hart vs. Bam Bam Bigelow PCW fans were agog when it was revealed that the mysterious masked man who had been attacking wrestlers for the past couple of weeks was in fact Bam Bam Bigelow, now returning to the West Coast after a long successful spell in the Midwest. Last week, he ambushed Bret Hart, and this would be the Hitman's chance to get some payback. Making his third appearance this weekend would be Diamond Dallas Page, who stood in the corner of his fellow New Jersey native, but for once contented himself to give verbal support and let the Beast From The East take care of business on his own. And take care of business he did, overpowering the Hitman and hitting some crushing moves early. The always resourceful Hart was not out by a long shot, but found it challenging to try to contain this exploding fireball. The two had a ferocious scrap, with Hart trying to wear down Bigelow and Bigelow trying to overwhelm Hart. In an attempt to catch him off balance, Hart went for a running cross body press, which Bigelow caught in midair and turned into a jarring power slam. He quickly followed it up with a Slingshot Splash and that got him the one two three. But it was not enough for Bam Bam, and with DDP egging him on, he went up top and hit a Nuclear Splash on Hart. Bret seemed to be having trouble breathing after the match and had to be helped from the ring while Bigelow and Page laughed maniacally. Credit where it is due, Diamond Dallas Page has gone three for three in his first PCW event. Brian Lee & Scott Hall vs. The Undertaker & Curt Hennig The Brigade's war with the Neighborhood of Evil has raged all year and has taken a heavy toll on the Brigade. First, they lose two of their members in high profile defections to the Neighborhood, then recently 2 more members were put out of PCW by a brutal attack from the Undertaker. Well it seems like Phoenix Firestorm is the point where the Brigade launch their counter offensive. Lee and Hall came out guns a-blazing, catching Mr. Perfect and the Dead Man off guard. The normally unstoppable Undertaker was even knocked back by the furious Hall. A chaotic match eventually broke down with all four men brawling outside, culminating in the jaw dropping move of Hall hitting the Gator Breaker (Fallaway Slam) to the Undertaker on the outside. Hall was able to make it back to the ring in time, giving the win by countout to the Brigade. Even more surprising was what happened after the match, when Paul Bearer gestured to the seemingly unconscious Undertaker, who suddenly sat up and got to his feet. The Undertaker wanted to go after Lee and Hall, but Bearer ordered him and Hennig to return to the locker room. Not a decisive victory for the Brigade, but a victory none the less, and one that was good for morale. Maxx Payne vs. Bob Backlund While Payne emerged from his time in the Neighborhood Of Evil demoralized, the tutelage of Dan Severn and the Citadel has given him a new life in PCW. Relegated to the role of enforcer in the Neighborhood, the Citadel have helped him develop his technical wrestling skills. Backlund was at something of a loss to figure out what to do with the big man, and Payne was able to score several take downs and fight the former world champion to a standstill. Backlund took the low road once again by grabbing the ropes on a rollup to trap Payne and steal away the win. A tough loss, but Payne should be proud of the effort he put in. Pacific Tag Team Title Match : The Sin City Superstars (Scotty The Body & Mark Starr) © vs. The Southern Boys A victory in the Moondog Lonnie Mayne Memorial Tag Team Tournament seemed to put the Southern Boys on track for a shot at the Pacific Tag Team Titles. But a vicious DDT by Scotty The Body on Sunshine in a mixed six person tag match made things very personal very quickly. Sunshine made her return in her match and was warily keeping an eye on Tina Ferrari, but both women stayed in their respective corners for the match. Much like the previous tag match, this was an incredibly heated clash, with Armstrong and Smothers out for blood. Scotty and Starr used plenty of devious tactics, which would be expected of two apt pupils of "Playboy" Buddy Rose. But the Southern Boys would not be denied, flattening Starr with a double top rope flying clothesline and winning the titles. After the match, they lifted Sunshine up on their shoulders as she held the title belts in triumph. Pacific Television Title Match : "Diamond" Timothy Flowers © vs. Brian Pillman Someone else parlaying a tournament win into a title shot is "Flyin'" Brian Pillman. Hot off his victory in the Tournament Of Lions, Pillman is looking to keep up his momentum by challenging for "Diamond" Timothy Flowers' Television Title. In his nearly 2 years in Pacific Coast Wrestling, Pillman has accomplished much, including winning the Golden State Tag Team Titles and the Pacific Light Heavyweight Title, but to win the Television Title from as ruthless a champion as Flowers would be his greatest achievement yet. The odds weren't really in his favour, though. Not only was Flowers a man with a reputation for holding onto his title by hook or by crook, but his past few title defenses were marked by interference by a masked man who turned out to be Bam Bam Bigelow. Flowers certainly did everything he could in his devious arsenal to try to hold off Pillman. Throughout the match, Flowers kept glancing over his shoulder, possibly looking for Bigelow to come out to assist him. He should have paid closer attention to Pillman, as he wound up being so distracted that he was caught flat footed by leaping clothesline from the former Cincinnati Bengal. "Flyin'" Brian then went up top and hit a spectacular missile dropkick before going for the cover. One … two … THREE!!!! The fans exploded in cheers to celebrate an incredible victory for the beloved wrestler. Pacific Heavyweight Title Match : Barry Windham © vs. Dan Severn Two great nights of wrestling would close out with a battle between two champions. Say what you will for his tactics, Barry Windham certainly has not ducked the top contenders in his time as Pacific Heavyweight Champion. They certainly don't get much tougher than the Pacific Submission Champion himself, Dan "The Beast" Severn. In a recent tag team match, Severn did some damage to Windham's right arm, and while Windham seems to have mostly recovered, he did seem to be favoring his arm doing the match. Not a good sign for the champ to have muted his deadly Lariat finisher, nor was it when Severn opened up the match with some jarring suplexes. Windham was able to recover enough to come back and hit a waistlock suplex of his own, but he started out the match in trouble and kept having to scramble to get out of it. Severn kept targeting Windham's compromised arm, but the Widowmaker's long limbs allowed him to get to the ropes to break the holds. All the same, Severn was chipping away at the champ, and his efforts were clearly taking their toll. It would take something out of bounds to save Windham from the Beast, and that's just what he did. While the ref was not looking, Paul Bearer handed something to Windham, who then slipped it inside his black leather glove. When Severn came back after him, Windham popped him in the face with the loaded glove, dropping Severn like a shot. Windham covered the KOed Severn and the ref made the count. Christopher with a star making victory over Black Tiger. DDP and the Gentleman? Not a pairing I would've thought of but their a success. The Blood Syndicate with a hard-fought win. Looks like a exciting new rivalry between Hashimoto and Chono. RIP Louie Spicoli. Steve defeats Sinclair with some less than Regal tactics. The Brothers Steamboat go 2 for 2 as the Demon puts down Cactus in a brutal Falls Count Anywhere match. Neidhart falls to the Animal. After a Wild reign, The Midnights are once again holding PCW gold. Rose tried to bring in the Animal but The Playboy had just made too many enemies. The Cheetah Kid closes out the night by fending off a determined Brookside. Night 2. Stormfront continues to surge. Mr Backlund is gonna be so proud of his star student. Thanks to DDP, the DC are back in business. Silver King getting the win kinda surprised me. Probably because I know both these guys from WCW where Dragon was a champion and SK was kinda a also-ran. Footloose and the Express put on a clinic. DDP has certainly built a dangerous crew in record time. Bigelow shows why he is the Beast by putting a hurting on Hart. The Brigade may have won this battle but the war isn't over. Payne shows his improvement in defeat. With Sunshine back in their corner, The Southern Boys get the ultimate payback on the SCS. Looks like Bigelow's business with Flowers is finished, as is his title reign. Come hell or highwater, The Widowmaker held on to the gold. I could only imagine the explosion from the fans when Ricky Steamboat showed up! Also loved seeing Billy Jack attack Albright to help Windham get the win. I knew very little of PNW Wrestling when I was a kid but the magazines sure loved Billy Jack so I guess so did I. For the second night, I was really interested in the Bret Hart-Bam Bam Match and it sure delivered. I wonder if the Hit Man can recover. Hennig and the Undertaker make some team! What a way to kick things off with the return of Ricky Steamboat (No disrespect to Brian Adams) Big move by the Brigade! Christopher is having the best rookie year I've ever seen. Another big return, and a debut as Chris Adams comes out with DDP. Getting a win over Owen is a pretty big return. The Japanese have certainly made an impact in Pacific. Just as Leo Burke. Is there anything more dangerous than a volatile Billy Jack? It took brass knuckles for Regal to get the best of St. Clair. Regal knows how tough 'Tough' Tony is. The Demon finally gets his long awaited revenge on Cactus. Vic's been making a name for himself in Pacific, I wonder how he really feels about Ricky coming back. The animal gets a huge win over the Anvil. This puts Albright on another level. The Midnight's are back on top! I think Barr's new persona may have thrown the Wild Things chemistry off a bit. Great night for Camp Cornette. After years of shenanigans, Rose's master plan finally backfires. Rhodes winning the title was a feel good moment and great pay off. And once again, the LHW title match caps off a tremendous night. Cheetah Kid continues to elevate the title to new and never before seen heights. Night 2, let's do this! Wow! If they keep this up, Stormfront might shock the world and win some gold soon. I think Candido and Lynn might've stolen the show. With this stacked card, both men should be proud. DDP's on a roll as he puts the Destruction Crew back on track. Still have nothing but love for the FOJ. The LHW division is simply amazing. I know I always say that, but man look at these matches. King and Dragon put on quite a display. Another display follows, but this time it's another classic tag match. After 2 nights, DDP has really solidified himself in Pacific. Bigelow beats Bret and literally leaves him breathless. This was a big deal. The Brigade score a moral victory but the Dead Man was able to rise. I think Hall came out looking like a big star. Payne looked good and confident but it's hard to beat a scientific heel like Mr. Backlund. He's the best at what he does. Talk about a great way to blow off a feud. Sunshine returns and the Southern Boys are champs. Doesn't get any better. Pillman keeps his insane momentum going and adds the TV title to his collection. Props to Flowers on a solid reign. It's too bad Bigelow's previous run ins had him distracted. After 2 nights of incredible action, Windham and Severn deliver in the main event. I liked how Windham's previous arm issues factored in the match. I really didn't know how Windham would retain. Well, thanks to Paul Bearer and a loaded glove, Windham walks out with his title. rainmakerrtv Posted August 26, 2023 Author Report Share Posted August 26, 2023 Pacific Wrestling Showcase from the Victoria Memorial Arena, Victoria, on ESPN / TSN, September 1st Louie Spicolli vs. Shannon Elkins Upon his return to PCW a couple of weeks ago , Louie Spicolli found the West Coast a much less welcoming environment than he left it. No longer having the support of the Knights Templar, Spicolli has taken a few brutal beatings in his time back in PCW, notably at the hands of Billy Jack Haynes at Phoenix Firestorm. Spicolli showed up for this match still a bit banged up for this match but utterly set on showing that he was still a young wrestler with potential. He dominated Elkins from bell to bell, easily pinning him following a Samoan Drop. Time will tell if Spicolli will be able to truly find his place in Pacific Coast Wrestling. Leo Burke vs. Masahiro Chono In his brief time in PCW, Masahiro Chono has proved to be a worthy addition to Genichiro Tenryu's Blood Syndicate. Cutting through the opposition much like his mentor, Chono seems set on blazing the same unstoppable trail. Facing the General of the Army, Chono kept his cool confidence as he squared off with Burke. Burke didn't go down easily, fighting off attempts to put him in the STF, but was finally pinned following a falling inverted DDT. No matter what their lineup, the Blood Syndicate continue be a force to contend with. Interview : Don Coss stands in the ring Coss : Ladies and gentlemen, my next guests made a shocking return to PCW at Phoenix Firestorm … Ricky Steamboat and Brian Adams! The crowd loudly cheers as the two Hawaiian stars make their way to the ring. The crowd are especially enthusiastic for Steamboat, but both men amiably shook hands with the fans before joining Don Coss. Coss : Well, ever since your return at Phoenix Firestorm, the fans have been abuzz with questions. Why have you returned at this time? Are you joining the Brigade? Are you forming a new tag team? Will Brian be reforming the Rainbow Warriors with Vic Steamboat? Rick Steamboat : Well, right now, the answer to all of those questions is no. The story is that, while I we have enjoyed our time in other territories, Brian and I both missed the West Coast. We had been looking to return for a while now, but when we saw what the Neighborhood of Evil was doing in PCW, we realized that something had to be done. I had never met Scott Hall before, but reached out to him on Brian and my behalf and offered our assistance to try to stop them. That's how we found ourselves at Phoenix Firestorm taking on the Hollywood Vampires. But we are here to stay and the Neighborhood Of Evil had best watch out! As for the Rainbow Warriors, well, Brian can best answer that. Adams : Vic Steamboat is my friend and always will be. But he has been working on his own for a while now and is doing great things. I'm not about to ask him to change course just because I have come back. But Vic, buddy, if you are watching … if you ever need me for anything, you know you can call on me! Scott Hall vs. Vampire Warrior Speaking of Scott Hall, at Phoenix Firestorm, he took the war with the Neighborhood Of Evil to the next stage, scoring a countout victory over the Undertaker and Curt Hennig . He continued this roll by taking out his aggression on the recently returned Vampire Warrior. The Bloodthirsty One did all he could, but nothing seemed to make a dent in Hall, who swiftly put him away with the Gator Breaker (fallaway slam). It looks like the big Gator is taking no prisoners in this war. Interview : Don Coss stands in the ring Ladies and gentlemen, my next guests had a great run at Phoenix Firestorm … Diamond Dallas Page and the Diamond Exchange! The crowd boos as Diamond Dallas Page, Bam Bam Bigelow, Chris Adams, Wayne Bloom, Mike Enos, and "Diamond" Timothy Flowers make their way to the ring. They don't pay the response any mind, laughing and having an overall self-satisfied air. Coss : Dallas Page, you made your PCW debut at Phoenix Firestorm, but you certainly did it in winning style. DDP : You bet your ever lovin A, Donnie Boy! I came into PCW with a plan, and you can see the results. My boys are now in position for any title they set their eyes on! Wayne and Mike here, they now know they were wasting their time with that tub of lard Gossett! They are back on track with the pack, and the Diamond Exchange is where it's at, baby! Coss : Bam Bam Bigelow, you disappointed a lot of the fans with your recent attacks on Jim Neidhart and Bret Hart . Why this change in outlook? Bigelow : The fans never did anything for me! I've had it with trying to live up to their expectations. My old Jersey buddy DDP knows what I want and is going to help me to get there! Those punks in the Hart Family and their friends have had it easy for way too long. Chris and I are going to burn right through them on the way to gold! Coss : "Diamond" Timothy Flowers, you are the only one of this group who suffered a loss at Phoenix Firestorm. Flowers : You watch you mouth, Coss, before I slap it right off your face. That is merely a temporary setback. That punk Pillman got lucky, but he is living on borrowed time and his luck is about to run out. The Diamond Exchange are going to get that TV title belt back around my waist. DDP : *chuckling* Hey, funny thing about that … you see, the Diamond Exchange is like this ring of mine. It may be big, but there is still only room for one Diamond in this setting. So …. Chris Adams suddenly Superkicks Flowers, dropping him to the mat. Bigelow follows up with two quick running splashes. The rest of the Exchange put the boots to the fallen Flowers before leaving him in the middle of the ring. The Diamond Exchange may be on the rise, but "Diamond" Timothy Flowers' days in it are done. Dragon Azul vs. Art Barr Both of these wrestlers came off tough losses at Phoenix Firestorm, with Barr having lost the Golden State Tag Titles to the Midnight Express and Dragon having come up short against Silver King. Both of them were keen to show they were still contenders and had a real barn burner of a match. Barr's Beetljuice makeup made an odd contrast to Dragon's blue mask and garb, but they could clearly get the job done in the ring. Dragon was able to pull out the win with an Asai Moonsault, but both men had proved themselves in the eyes of the fans. Pacific Television Title Match : Brian Pillman © vs. Mark Starr Brian Pillman has been having an incredible year, going from going all the way in the Tournament Of Lions to winning the Television Title at Phoenix Firestorm. His first defense was against the former Pacific Tag Champ Mark Starr, and the Sin City Superstar really took it to Flyin' Brian. The new champ wasn't going to back down from Starr's aggression, matching him move for move. He was able to avoid both the heel hook and the Starrburst Suplex (slingshot suplex) before hitting the Air Pillman and win the match. A well received win for a very popular new champ. Owen Hart vs. Mike Enos Owen did well against Enos before Chris Hart snuck in the ring and Superkicked him, leaving him easy prey for the Whirly Bird by Enos to give the win to the Destruction Crew member. Steamboat shoots down some fan theories but makes it clear he & Adams are here to take the fight to the NoE. Hall breaks the Vampire Warrior. DDP boots Flowers out of the Diamond Exchange. The Dragon wins a dogfight. Pillman nets his first successful defense. Vancouver. Lynn, Christopher and Albright all get solid wins. The Southern Boys keep their title reign and their necks intact. Huge win for Enos with some help from Adams. Windham finds himself having to fend off a Demon, an unusual situation for an NoE member I'm sure. Kelowna. Cactus and the Bulldozer get heated. BT bounces back. St Clair may be "Simply the Best" but Hennig is Perfect. The Gentleman outkicks Kawada. The Malenko's give a good effort but the Midnights hold on to the tag straps. I'm calling it now, 1989 will be Chono's year. I'm sensing something big is in the works with the Steamboat's and Adams. Scott Hall is on the verge of superstardom. The Diamond Exchange have arrived! I have to give Flowers his props. His run in Pacific was memorable and he did business on the way out. Dragon wins the match but that crazy Barr continues to get attention. Has anyone been on a bigger role than Pillman? Vancouver, Scotty the Body is one cool dude. Wow! Big win for Christopher. He might be ready for another shot at the LHW title. Albright continues to mow over the competition. Looking forward to the Southern Boys reign. I always thought they were fun to watch. The PCW fans better get ready for some Owen/Adams classics. Windham looks healthy again and that's bad news for the contenders. I like that you chose Vic Steamboat for the title shot here. Made total sense since he got a huge win at Firestorm. Kelowna, Looks like more Cactus and Bulldozer matches ahead. Hennig and St. Clair is quite the match up. Big win for Mr. Perfect. Adams proves who's superkick is superior. rainmakerrtv Posted September 4, 2023 Author Report Share Posted September 4, 2023 Pacific Wrestling Showcase from the Portland Sports Arena, Portland , on ESPN / TSN, September 8th Fit Finlay vs. Jimmy Johnson The show kicked off with a rather unexpected return, as the Belfast Bruiser showed up after a long absence from the PCW ring. His already belligerent disposition seemed to have soured even further in the interim, as he didn't bother with shaking hands with the fans like he used to and instead got right down to business. Johnson was probably wishing that Finlay had stayed away, as the Fighting Irishman tore into, battering him with brutal and painful moves before dropping him on his head with a piledriver. Even that was not enough, as Finlay locked him up in the Celtic Knot until he screamed out his submission. You can bet that the tension level in PCW has just increased with one of its most feared competitors now back on the roster. Brian Adams vs. Mark Starr Perhaps a more welcome return has been "The American Ninja" Brian Adams. While not as high profile as his co-returnee Ricky Steamboat, Adams has had a warm space in the heart of the fans, and he genially slapped palms with the members of the crowd as he headed out to the ring. Former Pacific Tag Champ Mark Starr was certainly no easy competitor, and Adams worked hard to avoid the Starrburst Suplex (Slingshot Suplex), but proved his worth as he overpowered Starr. He caught Starr coming off the ropes with the spinning backbreaker and was able to put the Sin City Superstar away. It looks like Adams is particularly glad to be back on the West Coast. Brian Lee vs. Cactus Jack Last week in Kelowna, Brian Lee and Cactus Jack ended up fighting to a double countout. Both men were clearly still charged up from that match, as they both rushed into the ring and started tangling with each other before the bell even had a chance to ring. Cactus Jack was actually laughing early on in the match, which only caused Lee to hit him harder. The Man From Truth Or Consequences wasn't laughing for long, and little by little, the match got more and more out of control. Cactus tried to get even dirtier with Lee, but while the big Bulldozer may still be a rookie, he has been battle hardened from many matches with the Neighborhood Of Evil and was not about to knuckle under. The ref tried to interpose himself between the two, only to be shoved to the mat by both men for his troubles. That was enough, and he called for the bell, declaring a no contest. That didn't settle things by a long chalk, and the two continued to slug it out until security forced them back to their respective locker rooms. I doubt these two have seen the last of each other. Tony St. Clair vs. Bam Bam Bigelow Bam Bam Bigelow has only been back in PCW for a few weeks but already has all eyes upon him. Scoring a big victory over no less than Bret Hart at Phoenix Firestorm has caused him to rocked up the rankings, and the Beast From The East has just kept rolling over the opposition. "Tough" Tony St. Clair was certainly no pushover, but despite his best efforts, Bigelow was just too much to control. Bam Bam crushed him with a power slam off the ropes, then followed up with a slingshot splash to score the one two three. Now that he is being led by Diamond Dallas Page, it looks like the New Jersey Fireball might just burn his way right to the top of Pacific Coast Wrestling. Buddy Rose vs. Vic Steamboat Somebody who has tumbled down the ranking since Phoenix Firestorm has been the leader of the Playboy Club, Buddy Rose. Having lost the California Title to Dustin Rhodes in Phoenix, questions have arisen as to whether his influence on the West Coast has started to fade. Set on not becoming a forgotten man, Rose signed a match with the fast rising Vic Steamboat. Rose was up to his usual bag of tricks, and that served him for a bit, but the Demon had just come off a feud with Cactus Jack and was not about to let Rose's cheating keep him down. He battled back to get Rose in position for the Demon Suplex (Tiger Suplex) , but Rose shut it down with an elbow to the face. Rose then tried to follow up with the Inside Out Backbreaker, but Steamboat was able to counter by flipping out of it. He then caught Rose from behind with a rollup and was able to hold his shoulders to the mat for the one two three. The crowd exploded at this upset victory. Oddly, Steamboat's manager, Jim Cornette, seemed unusually subdued after the match, but no one can doubt that the Demon had scored one of the biggest wins of his career over the so called King Of Portland, and in the Rose City no less. This was a particularly riveting battle, with both men well matched in both toughness and technical skill, but Steamboat was able to hit the top rope flying cross body press to pull out the victory. California Title Match : Dustin Rhodes © vs. Chris Candido Backlund's prize pupil gave a fierce challenge to the new California champ, giving a credible accounting of himself before going down to Rhodes' running bulldog headlock Pacific Heavyweight Title Match : Barry Windham © vs. Tracy Smothers Smothers came in as both one half of the current Pacific Tag Team champs and a former California champion, and showed just why he is considered one of the toughest competitors in PCW. Smothers really took it to the Widowmaker, and the crowd was thrilled to see if he could just pull off the upset. rainmakerrtv Posted September 4, 2023 Author Report Share Posted September 4, 2023 Pacific Coast Wrestling show from McArthur Court, Eugene, September 10th Steve Armstrong vs. Jimmie Lee A singles match between members of the Southern Boys and the Hollywood Vampires wound up being a crazy scrap that Armstrong was just barely able to take with a top rope flying clothesline The Force Of July (The Patriot & The Eagle) vs. Eddie Guerrero & Art Barr The popular masked duo of the FOJ took on the former Golden State Tag Team champs, and while the Wild Things kept them on their toes with their shenanigans, the Patriot caught Eddie in the Uncle Slam to score an important win for the Force Of July Dragon Azul vs. Silver King These two had an eye catching match at Phoenix Firestorm, with Silver King coming out on top. Dragon was clearly looking to even the score, and while he couldn't quite manage that this time, he did take Silver King to a 15 minute time limit draw. Jerry Lynn vs. Curt Hennig Young Jerry Lynn has shown considerable fire, skill, and enthusiasm in his rookie year, and gave it his all against the former Pacific Heavyweight Champion. The experience and ruthlessness of Mr. Perfect wound up being too much to overcome, and Hennig pinned him with the Perfect Plex. Bret & Owen Hart vs. Bam Bam Bigelow & Chris Adams A feud has quickly exploded between the Hart Family and the new Diamond Exchange, leading to this ferocious battle which , despite some hard hitting offense from the Brothers, went to the Exchange with Bigelow squashing Owen in the corner with an avalanche and then hitting a running splash for the one two three. Pacific Television Title Match : Brian Pillman © vs. The Vampire Warrior Pillman wound up stepping right into the fire as the Vampire Warrior was looking to put his mark on the former Cincinnati Bengal. The Hollywood Vampire really tore into Flyin' Brian, and Pillman really had to draw on his resolve to withstand the assault. That just seemed to even more bring out the rage in the Warrior, who kept choking Pillman in the corner until the ref had to DQ him. The Hart Brothers rushed out to get him off their friend, but the Vampire Warrior slunk out of the ring, grinning insanely. Another indecisive clash between Lee and Cactus. Bigelow continues his rise to the top. The Demon gets a big win but Cornette doesn't look happy. Portland night 2. Scotty gives Tina something to smile about after Starr's loss last night. Snow spikes Spicoli. BT vs CK should make quite the catfight. The Elder Steamboat wins what was sure to be a mat classic. Rhodes and Windham both hold on to their gold. Eugene. Armstrong buries the Gravedigger. The Force with a major win over former tag champs. Azul and King tear the house down again. Lynn gives a game effort against Hennig. The Diamond Exchange gets another win over the Hart Family. Pillman had better stock up on Garlic because there's a Vampire after him and his title. He doesn't seem bothered by his return being a bit overshadowed by Steamboat, but he's trying hard to make a big name for himself. Cactus and Lee are becoming quite the feud. Man, Bigelow is on a rampage. I wonder what's up with Cornette. Vic pulls off the biggest win of his career and Corny doesn't seem to excited about it. Also, I wonder where Rose goes from here. Portland, Scotty the Body pulls out the classic heel move. Spicoli is trying but this night belonged to Snow. Oh yea! Looks like the next program for the LHW is set. Steamboat vs. Backlund! Sweet! This win moves Steamboat up the ladder. Dustin's title reign is off to a good start. Windham is the man! He's on top of the world. Eugene, Armstrong eeks by Lee. Good match to open the show. FOJ is back on track after that big win over the former champs. I'm liking these Dragon/Silver King matches. Once again, nobody kicks out of the perfect plex...nobody! The Harts are having a rough time against the Diamond Exchange. From the LHW title to the TV title, Pillman is the man to close the shows. Looks like the Vampire will be a serious threat. rainmakerrtv Posted September 11, 2023 Author Report Share Posted September 11, 2023 Pacific Wrestling Showcase from the Oakland Alameda County Arena, Oakland, on ESPN / TSN, September 15th Jerry Lynn vs. Fit Finlay It hasn't taken long for the Belfast Bruiser to make his presence felt in PCW. Ever since his return to the West Coast, he has proven that his reputation for raw violence was not exaggerated in the slightest. Standing in his path tonight was the young up-and-comer Jerry Lynn, who did what he could but was sadly outmatched by the Irish veteran. Finlay dismantled Lynn before finally putting him down with a brutal piledriver. Even that was not enough for Finlay, who continued stomping on poor Lynn even after the end of the match. He continued his assault until Leo Burke ran out to the defense of his young charge, tackling Finlay. The two continued to slug it out until security intervened. If Finlay thinks that he can continue to bully his way through the Pacific Coast roster, Burke has clearly made it his business to make him think again. Owen Hart vs. Louie Spicolli This match features two wrestlers at contrasting points in their careers. Owen is gearing up for his recently sparked feud with Chris Adams, while Spicolli is trying to get his feet under him on his return to PCW after an absence of several months. Spicolli was very keen to prove himself, and Owen found himself having to put in serious effort to contain him, but Owen was able to catch him coming off the ropes with a spinning back heel kick that sent him to the mat. Owen followed up with a Moonsault to score the pinfall. A tough loss for Spicolli, but his effort was nothing to be ashamed of. Ricky Fuyuki vs. Steven Regal Regal may have once been the polite and sportmanlike English gentleman who had the admiration of the PCW fans, but his time since joining up with the Knights Templar have earned him a reputation for ruthlessness and skullduggery. Fuyuki did everything he could to hold off Regal, but the Englishman was out for destruction, and forced the Footloose member to surrender to the Regal Stretch. Regal is not going to be satisfied until he is in contention for a major title. The Force Of July (The Patriot & The Eagle) vs. The Sin City Superstars (Scotty The Body & Mark Starr) The duo of the Patriot and the Eagle made their debut in Pacific Coast Wrestling at the start of the year and made an immediate splash, quickly winning the hearts and imagination of the PCW fans. They gave a concerted challenge for the Pacific Tag Team Titles when the Sin City Superstars held them, but Scotty and Starr always managed to wriggle out of their grasp. The Superstars may no longer hold the titles, but the desire of the FOJ to beat them has not dimmed. The Superstars were no less devious than before, pulling out all of their tricks to stymie and frustrate the masked duo. But the Force were not to be denied, hitting a crushing double shoulder tackle on Starr and pulling out a resounding victory. The Force Of July are clearly contenders just waiting for their opportunity. Stormfront (Al Snow & Alex Porteau) vs. Barry Windham & Curt Hennig After a bit of a slow start, Stormfront have come back to become the fastest rising tag team in PCW, with wins over some of the best teams in the division. They certainly faced an uphill climb tonight, facing a Neighborhood Of Evil duo consisting of the Pacific Heavyweight champ Barry Windham as well as the former champ Curt Hennig. The NOE team definitely came on strong at first, trying to intimidate Stormfront, but one might as well have tried to intimidate an actual storm. Snow and Porteau battled back, using their technical ability and tag team instincts to get the better of Windham and Hennig on a number of occasions. As the match wore on, the crowd was captivated, hopeful that the upstart team might just pull off an incredible upset. Alas, is was not meant to be. A blindside dropkick from Hennig staggered Porteau, leaving him prey for Windham's Western Lariat. A disappointing loss, but the crowd still cheered Stormfront's heroic effort. rainmakerrtv Posted September 11, 2023 Author Report Share Posted September 11, 2023 Pacific Coast Wrestling show from the Cow Palace , San Francisco, on Pacific Super Cards on ESPN / TSN, September 16th Dragon Azul vs. Silver King After only a few weeks in PCW, these two wrestlers have ignited the always competitive Light Heavyweight ranks with some spellbinding matches. This match was no different, with the fans keen to see who would come out on top. It looked like it would once again go to Silver King when he went up top for the moonsault, but Dragon pulled up his knees as King came down. Dragon then got up and hit the Asai Moonsault to get his first victory over Silver King. Bret Hart & The Southern Boys vs. Bam Bam Bigelow & The Destruction Crew As one can imagine, this was a fierce donnybrook between these two sides, and it took an outside trip from DDP and a falling headbutt from Bigelow to set Armstrong up for a Butterfly Suplex from Bloom, giving the win to the Diamond Exchange Tony St. Clair vs. Buddy Rose Buddy Rose has gotten increasingly desperate to maintain a position of prominence in PCW, and that continued in this match, where he resorted to a distraction from Tina Ferrari and a shot with a set of brass knucks to steal the win from "Tough" Tony St. Clair. Brian Pillman & ?? ?? vs. The Hollywood Vampires (The Vampire Warrior & Jimmie Lee) After last week's TV title defense against the Vampire Warrior, it was no surprise that Pillman would find himself in a tag match with both of the Hollywood Vampires. Perhaps less of a surprise was Pillman's mystery partner, who would turn out to be Ricky Steamboat, no stranger to the ways of mystery partnerdom. Unsurprising but still wildly cheered by the fans as he came out. The two sides had a ferocious battle where Steamboat was able to score the pinfall on Lee with a running cross body press. California Title Match : Dustin Rhodes © vs. Cactus Jack In his usual chaotic, hell for leather style, CJ wound up taking the fight to the outside, but this would cost him. Dustin knocked out Cactus with a running bulldog headlock on the concrete, getting the win by countout. Pacific Heavyweight Title Match : Barry Windham © vs. Brian Adams It didn't take long for the returning Brian Adams to earn a Pacific Heavyweight Title shot, and he was dead set on making the most of it. No matter what Windham threw at him, Adams just kept coming back, and it took a mighty top rope flying lariat from the Widowmaker to put the American Ninja down for good. Cheetah Kid then hit a tope rope senton on Black Tiger for the win. Vic Steamboat vs. Mark Starr Jim Cornette seemed a bit detached during this match as his man Steamboat pinned Starr with the Demon Suplex (Dragon Suplex) Shinya Hashimoto vs. Art Barr Barr continued his bizarre Beetlejuice antics, but Hashimoto was all business, hitting a Leaping Spike DDT for the win Toshiaki Kawada vs. Genichiro Tenryu Tenryu continued to mow down the opposition, crushing fellow Japanese star Kawada with a Power Bomb Owen Hart vs. Eddie Guerrero These two kept a blistering pace for the entirety of their riveting match, with the result going to Owen with a belly to belly suplex off the ropes Golden State Tag Team Title Match : The Midnight Express © vs. The Can-Am Express The two Expresses had an epic tag team war that went to a 30 minute time limit draw.
