He's the guy that has been out there taking on the big names and defending this belt against anyone that wanted a shot. He points out a name that never came up was Buzz Sawyer and he wonders why that is. Rich thinks maybe Buzz has been ducking him because he knows he can't win. Buzz sucker punches Rich and it's on. SirEdger
The field for the AWA World Tag Team title tournament is really interesting. You got several tag team contenders and I would argue that your tag team division is the absolute deepest in the game so far.
kevinmcfl
Great TV show on espn with 7 Must See Matches. Race is always the company man as he lets Mad Dog Sawyer go over him in a clean win. This is really what Race would do and that is why he is an all-time great. Tag Title Tourny is stacked! It doesn't matter how many times we see it but Rich vs Sawyer is GOLD!
spaldoni
YES! We're getting Rich vs. Sawyer! My all time favorite feud! Thank you! The tag tournament is stacked! So many teams could win it. Race is one class act as he puts over Sawyer on his way out. Loving the Dusty Rhodes/MMM and stable feud. Ric Flair has arrived and immediately challenges Dibiase! This is huge. Flair vs. Dibiase will be money.

SirEdger
I like that you've established your specific crews for your touring events. Definitely gives us an idea of the pecking order in the AWA.
Mad Dog
AWA All-Star Wrestling #27: 1/5/1985 taped from Chicago, IL Results: Fatu, Kokina Maximus and Samu defeated Charlie Fulton, Kelly Kiniski and Nick Kiniski at 6:19 Ricky Gibson defeated Barry O at 3:32 Shawn Michaels defeated Mike Miller at 9:47 AWA National Heavyweight Title Match: Buzz Sawyer (c) defeated Tommy Gilbert at 10:58 Dusty Rhodes defeated Mr. USA, The Olympic Grappler by DQ at 9:00 Great Lakes Heavyweight Title Match: Stagger Lee defeated Tommy Rich (c) at 15:24 Angle Developments: The Marvelous Masked Manager, Rip Rogers, Mr. USA, The Olympic Masked Grapper, Stagger Lee, The Shadow and Great Lakes Tag Team Champions Super Destroyers start off the show. Solie again says that Lee and Shadow look like Koko Ware and Norvell Austin to him. MMM says he has no idea what Solie is talking about. MMM has big news as he has gotten Stagger Lee a shot at Tommy Rich and the Great Lakes Heavyweight Championship on this very show. He's already got one belt and he's looking forward to adding another belt. Also, Mr. USA, The Olympic Grappler has a match with Dusty Rhodes. He's mentioned that Dusty has been a thorn in his side for the past month and Wahoo McDaniel getting involved was less than ideal. But the MMM has one thing that they don't have and that's numbers. He's got a stable of some of the best wrestlers in the sport right now. Dusty and Wahoo might be great wrestlers but they can't compete with the men he has under contract right now. Percy Pringle came out with Fatu, Kokina Maximus and Samu and joined the booth. He talks about the proud heritage of the Samoan fighter in the sport of wrestling. He talks about the great heritage of the Anoa'i family. He says that these men are going to lead him to championship glory in the AWA. He tells anyone that thinks they can take on his Dynasty to come and take their shot. AWA World Heavyweight Champion Ted Dibiase is out for an interview. He says it was a real surprise to see Ric Flair come out and challenge him for this belt. But that's what being the World Champion means. Everyone wants a piece of your time because you have the ultimate prize in wrestling. So he tells Ric Flair that it's on. He wants Flair to step up to the plate nd see if he has what it takes to be the AWA World Heavyweight Champion. AWA National Tag Team Champions Rock N Roll Express are out for an interview. Morton talks about how they have their eyes on those AWA World Tag Team Titles. He thinks it would be pretty nice to be double champions and Gibson agrees. He knows that they have a lot of teams to get through and the Russians on their backs but he likes their shots. He knows that they come out there and say it all the time but the Rock N Roll have found tag team success wherever they go. They have had a strangle hold on these belts for quite awhile now and he likes their chances of adding a World Title to their resume. Dusty Rhodes was getting the better of Mr. USA, The Olympic Grappler and had him beat after an Elbow Drop. Rip Rogers, Stagger Lee and The Shadow ran in to draw the DQ. They were putting the boots to Dusty when Wahoo McDaniel and Ricky Gibson ran in to make the save. Great Lakes Heavyweight Champion Tommy Rich came out for an interview. He says that he was tired of listening to Buzz Sawyer come out and brag about being the man in the Great Lakes region. That's why he wants Buzz to put his money where his mouth is. During the main event, Buzz Sawyer came out. He and Rich started arguing and Sawyer nailed Rich with something in his hand. This allowed Stagger Lee to get the pinfall and win the title. The Marvelous Masked Manager grabbed the belt and started running around the studio and mocking all of the fans there about how he was able to finally get the belt. Rip Rogers, the Super Destroyers, The Shadow and Mr. USA, The Olympic Masked Grappler storm the studio with nose makers and champagne. MMM runs over to Gordon Solie and Frank Dusek. MMM says that this is one of the best moments of his life. Your new Great Lakes Heavyweight Champion Stagger Lee. Rip Rogers sneaks over and throws confetti in Solie's face. MMM says that they are having a party at Pizza Hut after this. He invites Frank Dusek along but makes a point of saying that Solie can't come. The show fades to black with Solie standing with the microphone covered in confetti.
spaldoni
LOL, that will be one great party at Pizza Hut! Stagger Lee wins the title and the MMM has one heck of a celebration. This defiantly adds fire to the Rich/Sawyer feud. The stables and alliances are being formed. MMM has the top stable but Pringle has one tough group of Samoans. Love all the tag teams. RnR has an endless amount of challengers. Man, I cant wait for Dibiase/Flair! This is big time!
Jesse Ewiak
- The Samoan Trio would be an awesome sight, and I actually think they could've done much bigger things IRL. - Big win for Buzz Sawyer to gets the win. - Rhodes-Grappler would've been a fun match to have, even if it ended with a bunch of guys running in to take down 'Stardust', but at least Dusty has some friends in some form of Wahoo McDaniel and Ricky Gibson. - The Marvelous Masked Manager continues to be a great angle. - DiBiase/Flair being set-up is awesome, and is probably the top program anybody in this game could do at any moment. kevinmcfl
Great job setting up your shows for the month. Rich looses the title on TV because of Sawyer! This just pushes this feud to another level! A little deep dish in Chicago at Pizza Hut... Sounds like a party! MMM continues to cause havoc as he is all over this show! The run-ins here give this an awesome feel... Dusty/Wahoo/Gibson and RIch vs the Heels: Great 1980's feel!
