LowBlowPodcast
Off to the races with this promotion and building things from the ground up. That's a pretty fun card for the $15,000 along with Tommy Rich continuing his dastardly ways. I am hopeful to see Brad rise to the top over his father here. That could be an angle btw... but in all reality this is great work to build so quick.

Autistic Dragon
The Downtown Connection with a dirty win in the opener. Ross beating the Russian definitely brought the crowd back. The Movement decide they don't need an Intern after all. Olympia gets the win but I'm sure Madril & Ramirez aren't done with him yet. Los Mega Starrs make Horner fell the Crunch. Fuller makes damn sure the Armstrong's don't add anymore gold to their collection.
spaldoni
Uptown is struggling against Downtown. Ross wins one for USA. HAHAHA! Visualizing the Movement just walking out on the Intern just cracks me up. I'm sure Tugboat had something to do with Madril's DQ. Ron Fuller couldn't ask for better henchmen than the Starrs. If Fuller is on the same card with the Armstrong's, expect interference.
GeneJackson95
Sorry guys, been a crazy busy week and weekend so in the name of not getting behind this week's show will just be recaps on the promos and no pics (except for Blehschmidt's segment) ======================================= Twin States Wrestling TV Pre-Recorded and airing on 10/22/87 WTVY Channel 4 Studios Dothan, Alabama Airing on various stations across Alabama & Mississippi (Show opens with a montage of Twin States footage featuring clips of Ron Fuller, Bob Armstrong, Jos Leduc, The Mongolian Stomper, The Nightmares, Ranger Ross, Al Madril, Los Mega Starrs, Mr. Olympia, and others…set to the instrumental of 'White Wedding by Billy Idol with a voiceover saying, "Welcome to Twin States Wrestling bringing you great wrestling action from across Alabama and Mississippi, we now take you to your host….Charlie Platt!") (The camera pans across the lively studio audience before heading over to the desk where Charlie Platt is joined by "Luscious" Johnny V!) Platt and Johnny V welcome everyone to the show and talk about what a lot program we have today along with recapping some of the action from last Monday night in Birmingham. ====================== MATCH #1: Vic Steamboat pinned Ricky Tidwell with a flying crossbody off the top rope Promo recap: Steamboat says he's thankful to have came out on top in the $15,000 battle royal and that it came at a time that he could really use the money, he puts over Tim Horner who he last eliminated to win. He also says that things didn't go his way the last time he faced "The Great" Al Madril but he plans to redeem himself against Madril this Monday night in Birmingham ====================== (Johnny V leads a camera man into Ron Fuller's dressing room where he is joined by Jos Leduc, Chicky Starr, and Ron Starr) JV: "Tennessee Stud, it looks like you've made some new friends here in Los Mega Starrs." Stud: "That's exactly right, Johnny. There are two guys that are sick and tired of people like the Nightmares and the Armstrongs always getting their way around here and it's about to come to an abrupt halt! You are looking at the brand new Stud Stable right here Johnny V, and this might now even be all of it just yet….but Les Thatcher just know that we want the Armstrongs and The Nightmares back in that ring any way we can get 'em you hear me! Sign the match, make it happen the Stud Stable will be there!" ====================== COMMERCIAL BREAK ====================== MATCH #2: The Thunderfoots (#1/#2) defeated Randy Watson/Roy Munson when Thunderfoot #2 hit Munson with a face first piledriver Boni Blackstone tries to get a word with the Thunderfoots about they walk right past her, yelling about the Lone Desperados ====================== The camera pans over to the Fiesta Garden stage decorated with four large, fake cacti in each corner, each of which is wearing a different colored sombrero. On the wall behind the stage is a Fiesta Garden banner that is done up in the colors of the Mexican flag and also has streamers and balloons attached to it. Standing under the banner with his arms crossed, dressed in his American Flag Zubaz, as well as a lucha mask and a sombrero is the nearly three hundred and fifty pound "Tugboat Ramirez." At the front of the stage sits two directors chairs, done in green fabric. One of them has the name Alberto Madril stenciled on the back of it, and the other says "Special Guest." Standing in between those two chairs wearing a pair of blue jeans, a black shirt with a gold chain, and a pair of cowboy boots is none other than the host of the Fiesta Garden..... Al Madril. Madril is back to grinning this week, and soaks in the boo's for a few moments before bringing the microphone to his mouth and beginning. Al Madril: "Hola Mi Amigos! Welcome to The Fiesta Garden, the greatest show in the history of the professional wrestling business! Hosted by me, Alberto Madril, the greatest wrestler in the history of the professional wrestling business!" When the boo's come heavier, Al gets an even bigger smile. He pulls the microphone away from his mouth and leans into the camera and whispers "They know I am" before jumping right back into it. Al Madril: "and standing behind me is my new enforcer, the new head of Fiesta Garden security. The three hundred fifty pound human machine of destruction that only answers to me, he is Tugboat Ramirez!! Now....Say Hello Tugboat!" Without so much as turning around, Madril simply holds the microphone behind his back. Tugboat steps forward and speaks into the microphone in a voice that doesn't hold the slightest hint of a Spanish accent. "Tugboat Ramirez": "Hello Tugboat." Al Madril: "Wham! Nailed It! First Try! That's why this guy is getting paid the big bucks!" The fans begin chanting "We Want Plowboy" and Madril looks annoyed for a minute, then seems to remember he is supposed to be sad and his face turns deadly serious. Al Madril: "Me too amigos. Me too. Just seven days ago, I stood here heartbroken, grieving for all that I had lost as my good friend Johnny V said all of those nice things. I stood here thinking about the terrible, unspeakable things that Mr. Olympia had done, and how he couldn't be allowed to get away with them. So this past Monday, I went to Birmingham, and I avenged the single greatest tragedy in the history of Twin States Wrestling....." Madril's serious facade cracks and his shit eating grin is back with a vengeance. Al Madril: "I defeated Mr. Olympia and got my revenge for him causing me to be distracted when I wrestled Brad Armstrong for the Twin States Title!" Somehow, the boo's come even heavier now Al Madril: "What! You thought I was still crying about old what's his name? Why would I do that?" Madril rolls his eyes at the continued boo'ing. Al Madril: "Seriously people, I have Tugboat Ramirez now. Sure he might not be quite as tall, or....... (Madril glances back, then appears to contemplate something for a moment)....quite...as fat, but that just means that he is faster and better equipped to protect "The Great" Al Madril when the need arises." Mr. Olympia comes walking out from the back and heads straight for The Fiesta Garden stage. Tugboat Ramirez steps forward and stands in front of Madril. Olympia pretty much shows no fear and gets nose to nose with the other masked man. A stage hand runs up and gives Olympia a second microphone. Al Madril: "The Fiesta Garden wasn't taking guests this week. But I can only assume you are out here to congratulate me on being the better man since I beat you this past Monday night?" Mr. Olympia: "No Madril, like everyone else in this building, I was just sick and tired of hearing you talk!" That gets a big pop from the crowd, and Madril's face scrunches up into a look that says "Thats not true." Mr. Olympia: "and you didn't beat me this past Monday night. This big goof standing between us is the only reason you won that match." Al Madril: "The record book says...." Mr. Olympia: "I don't care what the record book says Alberto! You only won that match cause you cheated, and we both know you can't beat me fair and square." Al Madril: "Listen here Special Olympia, I can beat you any night of the week, in any kind of match you can think of. Regular match, I'll beat you. Cage match, I'll beat you. Mexican Death Match, I'll beat you." Mr. Olympia: "Okay, then why don't we do it right here on television next week. That way everyone can see you beat me." Al Madril: "I just told you, it doesn't matter. I can beat you on TV too! Maybe I'll rip that stupid mask off your head." Mr. Olympia: "Okay, I like it Madril. If you can beat me fair and square, right here on TV next week, I will unmask." Al Madril: "Wait.. Really?" Mr. Olympia: "Yeah. You leave 'ole Tugger there in the back, and if you beat me, I will give you my mask." Al Madril: "Ha! You're on!" Olympia reaches into the back of his tights and produces a contract. He hands it to Tugboat, who unfolds it and hands it to Madril. Al Madril: "Bend Over." Ramirez bends down and Madril quickly signs the contract on his rather broad back. With a smirk, he hands it over to Olympia. Al Madril: "Next week, I am going to show everyone that you've gotten even uglier Jerry!" Mr. Olympia: "and next week, I am going to show everyone that only a complete idiot doesn't read a contract." Madril's smile quickly fades. Al Madril: "What do you mean?" Mr. Olympia: "Next week, you and I will wrestle right here on TV..... in as mask vs hair match!" Olympia walks away from The Fiesta Garden set as Madril loses it and starts kicking over the directors chairs. The show fades to commercial as Madril slaps Tugboat! ====================== COMMERCIAL BREAK ====================== MATCH #3: "Bullet" Bob/Brad Armstrong & The Nightmares (Danny Davis/Ken Wayne) defeated Ray Purchase/Jackie Daytona/Rich Mahogany/Buck Spivey when Brad pinned Daytona following a Russian Leg sweep Promo Recap: Ken Wayne talks about how the whole time he was injured he thought about what he wanted to do to Los Mega Starrs when he gets his hands on them and they haven't even BEGUN to pay for what they did to him. Bullet Bob says if hasn't said it already, he's sorry to all the fans and his friends and family for "going off the deep end" for a moment with that whole 'Armstrong's Army' thing but that just the kind of effect that The Fullers have on people but now that he has his head on straight and great people like his son, Brad and the Nightmares by his side, he doesn't care who Ron Fuller puts in his so called 'Stud Stable', he won't rest until the "Tennessee Stud" is "put out to pasture" for good! ======================= (VTR- The Movement Promo Recap: Shaska said he came in with high hopes for getting Brickhouse back in the Movement, but he can see now that he's been hanging around that "sell out" Ranger Ross too long and that he's hopeless case. Tiger says that the Russians need to step aside and let the Movement handle their business with Brown and Ross and things will be just fine, but if they keep getting in their way….they are going to get "dealt with"! ======================= COMMERCIAL BREAK ======================= The Downtown Connection come out (Downtown Bruno, Eric Embry, Jack Hart, Billy Joe Travis, and Tommy "Wildfire" Rich) Promo recap: Bruno says that Denny Brown "signed his death warrant" when he cost Eric Embry the Jr heavyweight title last week. He says that this Monday night it's Brown vs. Embry in a loser leaves Twin States match and that after Monday night you can call him "Outta Town" Dennis Brown! Jack Hart says that Alberto Madril has offered him $5,000 if he can remove Mr. Olympia's mask during their match and that he could use the extra cash. (camera pans over to Tommy Rich whose t-shirt says, "Johnny & Davey Who?" Tommy Rich says that Johnny and Davey Rich "went crying to Les Thatcher" saying they wanted ANOTHER tag team title shot. Tommy says that they have reason to face them again, they already took their belts and then successfully defended them….but Johnny and Davey do have one more thing he wants to take away from them….his name! So, Rich and Travis have agreed to face Johnny and Davey one last time this Monday with the belts on the line vs. Johnny and Davey's last name. If Tommy and Billy Joe win, Johnny and Davey can no longer use the last name Rich. Les Thatcher comes out and says that Johnny and Davey have agreed to that stipulation but Thatcher says he's added one more to make sure things are fair…..it will be in a STEEL CAGE!! (fans go wild) Also, he's signed for today's main event, a six man tag team match with the Johnny/Davey Rich and 'Uptown' Dennis Brown taking on Billy Joe Travis, Tommy Rich, and Eric Embry! -------------------------------------- MATCH #4: Boris Zhukov/Soldat Ustinov w/Sir Oliver Humperdink defeated Willie Richardson/Steven Toast when Zhukov pinned Toast after a diving headbutt from the 2nd rope Promo recap: Humperdink says he doesn't know who the Movement thinks they are but they were already fighting with Brickhouse Brown and Ranger Ross before they arrived and THEY are the ones who stuck their nose into the House of Humperdink's business! He says the Movement better "move on" before they get hurt! ======================== COMMERCIAL BREAK ======================== MATCH #5: MAIN EVENT SPECIAL CHALLENGE MATCH Johnny/Davey Rich & "Uptown" Dennis Brown defeated The Downtown Connection (Eric Embry/Billy Joe Travis/Tommy Rich) w/Downtown Bruno when Brown pinned Embry with a school boy roll up (Charlie runs down the card for this Monday night in Birmingham) Twin States Wrestling Monday Oct 24, 1987 Boutwell Auditorium Birmingham, Alabama Bell Time: 7:30pm MAIN EVENT STEEL CAGE MATCH TWIN STATES TAG TEAM TITLE Titles vs. Johnny & Davey losing the Rich name Billy Joe Travis/Tommy "Wildfire" Rich vs. Johnny/Davey Rich SEMI-MAIN EVENT EIGHT MAN TAG TEAM ELIMINATION MATCH "Bullet" Bob/Brad Armstrong/The Nightmares (Danny Davis/Ken Wayne) vs. The Stud Stable (Ron Fuller/Jos Leduc/Los Mega Starrs (Chicky/Ron) TAG TEAM CHALLENGE MATCH The Lone Desperados (#1/#2) vs. The Thunderfoots (#1/#2) FOUR CORNERS #1 CONTENDER'S MATCH Boris Zhukov/Soldat Ustinov w/Sir Oliver Humperdink vs. Brickhouse Brown/Ranger Ross vs. The Movement (Shaska Whatley/Tiger Conway Jr.) vs. The Lightning Express (Scott Armstrong/Tim Horner) LOSER LEAVES TWIN STATES "Uptown" Dennis Brown vs. "Flamboyant" Eric Embry w/Downtown Bruno Vic Steamboat vs. "The Great" Al Madril w/Tugboat Ramirez Mr. Olympia vs. "Gentleman" Jack Hart w/Downtown Bruno "Action" Mike Jackson vs. The Intruder (Credits roll) Executive Producer Ronald Welch Producer Gene Jackson Floor Director Boni Blackstone Producer of the Fiesta Garden/Assistant to Mr. Madril Bob Blehschmidt Match Maker Les Thatcher Audio Howard Moon Camera Colin Robinson Steven Toast Dennis Reynolds Bill Gillespie Charlie Platt's suit provided by 'Suitable Suits' of Dothan Boni Blackstone's wardrobe provided by 'Fashion Bug' Catering provided by 'Willie B's BBQ' of Dothan © 1987 Twin States Wrestling
Autistic Dragon
Alberto may have made one enemy too many. Him getting tricked into putting his hair on the line was classic though. Tommy is tired of his "cousins" embarrassing the Rich name & is ready to take it from them. Lots of bad blood in this Monday's show. I think with all their opponents trying to get at each other, the Lightning Express have a real chance to sneak in a win.
kevinmcfl
Nice show that sets up some interesting matches next week. Hair vs Mask? Such a Southern thing to do. Tommy and the cousins continue the family feud. A new and complete Studd Stable. This will lend itself to some nice matches with the Armstrongs. Will Plowboy ever return? Another great Fiesta Garden.... looking forward to Madril vs Mr O.
GeneJackson95
Twin States Wrestling Monday Oct 24, 1987 Boutwell Auditorium Birmingham, Alabama Bell Time: 7:30pm "Action" Mike Jackson pinned The Intruder with a sunset flip off the top rope "Gentleman" Jack Hart w/Downtown Bruno pinned Mr. Olympia with a roll up and a handful of tights when Al Madril and Tugboat Ramirez came to ringside and distracted Olympia Vic Steamboat defeated "The Great" Al Madril w/Tugboat Ramirez by count out when Madril did a leap frog over Steamboat and immediately went down to the mat clutching his knee before rolling over to the edge of the ring and demanding Tugboat carry him to the back. It was unclear to most whether this was legitimate injury or not as Vic Steamboat and the referee both seemed unsure what was happening. LOSER LEAVES TWIN STATES "Flamboyant" Eric Embry w/Downtown Bruno pinned "Uptown" Dennis Brown after Bruno tripped Brown, then Embry proceeded to give Brown THREE consecutive piledrivers before pinning him with one foot on his chest. Embry then got on the house mic and promised Scott Armstrong that "no that there's no one to come throw powder in my face! That belt is mine!" FOUR CORNERS #1 CONTENDER'S MATCH Boris Zhukov/Soldat Ustinov w/Sir Oliver Humperdink vs. Brickhouse Brown/Ranger Ross vs. The Movement (Shaska Whatley/Tiger Conway Jr.) vs. The Lightning Express (Scott Armstrong/Tim Horner) The match ended when Ranger Ross hit Ustinov with a "combat kick" but Whatley reached over and tagged himself in and quickly covered the Russian for the three count making the Movement the #1 contenders! TAG TEAM CHALLENGE MATCH The Lone Desperados (#1/#2) defeated The Thunderfoots (#1/#2) by DQ when Thunderfoot #3 hit the ring and interfered (due to his stature, most fans at ringside speculated that Thunderfoot #3 is Dirty Rhodes) MAIN EVENT STEEL CAGE MATCH TWIN STATES TAG TEAM TITLE Titles vs. Johnny & Davey losing the Rich name Johnny/Davey Rich defeated Billy Joe Travis/Tommy "Wildfire" Rich w/Downtown Bruno when Davey pinned Travis to win the titles SEMI-MAIN EVENT EIGHT MAN TAG TEAM ELIMINATION MATCH "Bullet" Bob/Brad Armstrong/The Nightmares (Danny Davis/Ken Wayne) vs. The Stud Stable (Ron Fuller/Jos Leduc/Los Mega Starrs (Chicky/Ron) Order of elimination: Ron Starr pinned "Nightmare" Danny Davis "Nightmare" Ken Wayne pinned Chicky Starr Ron Starr was disqualified for hitting Ken Wayne in the head with a chair Ken Wayne due to his previous neck injury, could not continue after the chair shot Jos Leduc pinned Brad Armstrong after hitting him with his axe handle behind the referee's back "Bullet" Bob Armstrong put Jos Leduc out with a sleeper "Tennessee Stud" Ron Fuller pinned Bob Armstrong after throwing a fireball in his face
Autistic Dragon
Jackson with a fun little opening win. Hart uses less than gentlemenly methods for beat Olympia. Curious ending to the Steamboat/Madril match. What a ride for Dennis Brown, from Downtown to Uptown to Outta town. Some quick thinking by Whatley nets The Movement a title shot. The Lone Desperados/Thunderfoots feud continues to heat up. Johnny & Davey keep their name & get their belts back. Chairshots, ax handles, fireballs! The Stuff Stable pulls out all the stops to win in the main event.
spaldoni
The TV show did a great job promoting this Monday's card. Vic Steamboat is really making a name for himself here. Tensions are rising between the Movement and Russians. Cool heels vs. heels storyline. Madril was having a lot of fun until Olympia pulled one over on him with the contract LOL. I'm glad Bob Armstrong addressed his army phase. Now he's ready to move on. Rich's put it all on the line. Is Tommy's shirt a spoiler alert? Birmingham, Wow, thanks to Madril, Hart gets his biggest win in Twin States over Olympia. LOL, Madril once again finds a creative way to end a match. Damn, Embry really puts a stamp on Uptown's departure. Poor Dennis, I really thought things were going to work out for him here. Whatley's brilliance gives the Movement a title shot. I've always loved your masked men feuds. Davey and Johnny keep their names and win back the titles! Awesome night for 2 out of the 3 Rich's. Night ends on a sour note as Fuller brings legit heat with a fireball! I will never get bored of the Armstrong/Fuller feud.
kevinmcfl
I really enjoy the creativity of the card above. Such interesting stipulation that each match had added importance. I thought the title vs name match was really cool. Also, the results continue to build the angle in a way that I can't wait for the next TV show. I'm really looking forward to the next Fiesta Garden to hear Madril talk about the "worst injury" in the history of sports. Embry with 3 piledrivers makes a statement. As a fellow promoter, I am afraid to add Brown to my roster in fear of severe neck damage!!! Reminds me of Terry Gordy in Georgia giving Ted Dibiase 3 piledrivers with one on the concrete floor before Tommy Rich threw in the white towel. Add in a third Thunderfoot, Shaska stealing the win from Ranger Ross and the night ending with a fireball from a Fuller on an Armstrong and you have CCW-Southeastern-Gulf States-Twin States at its best!!! GeneJackson95
Sorry, it's been a crazy few weeks, I've gotten slammed with both wrestling shows and stand up bookings as well as podcasts....I wanted to go ahead and get this posted to stay caught up and hopefully I'll be able to get caught up on feedback this week.\ ===================================================== Twin States Wrestling TV Pre-Recorded and airing on 10/31/87 WTVY Channel 4 Studios Dothan, Alabama Airing on various stations across Alabama & Mississippi (Show opens with a montage of Twin States footage featuring clips of Ron Fuller, Bob Armstrong, Jos Leduc, The Mongolian Stomper, The Nightmares, Ranger Ross, Al Madril, Los Mega Starrs, Mr. Olympia, and others…set to the instrumental of 'White Wedding by Billy Idol with a voiceover saying, "Welcome to Twin States Wrestling bringing you great wrestling action from across Alabama and Mississippi, we now take you to your host….Charlie Platt!") (The camera pans across the lively studio audience before heading over to the desk where Charlie Platt is joined by "Luscious" Johnny V!) Platt: "Hello everybody and welcome once again to Twin States Wrestling, I'm Charlie Platt along with the one and only "Luscious" Johnny V and this week we will once again have an abbreviated version of the show due to being pre-empted by the S.E.C. Game of the Week." JV: "That's right, so in light of that we're going to get right to the good and stuff go directly to the Fiesta Garden with everyone's compadre, 'the Great' Al Madril!" Platt: "I was hoping that meant we would be skipping the Fiesta Garden this week." JV: "Are you crazy? Besides 'Luscious' Johnny V, the Fiesta Garden is the reason everyone tunes in!" Platt: "Well before we get to the Garden, Les Thatcher wants it to be known that since this Monday night is Halloween, this Monday's show will be called, 'Chamber of Horrors' featuring not one….not two…but THREE steel cage matches!" ==================== The camera pans over to the Fiesta Garden stage decorated with four large, fake cacti in each corner, each of which is wearing a different colored sombrero. One of them has the name Alberto Madril stenciled on the back of it, and the other says "Special Guest." In between those two chairs, standing with the aid of a pair of crutches, wearing a pair of blue jeans with a knee brace on one knee, a black shirt with a gold chain, with a cowboy boot on one foot, and a walking boot on the other is none other than the host of the Fiesta Garden..... Al Madril. Madril stands stoically as he waits for the crowd to stop booing. Al Madril: "You disrespectful hillbillies can obviously see that I am injured, and just standing here is painful. So the sooner you shut up, the sooner I can get this over with." The boo's come hot and heavy again and Madril rolls his eyes. Al Madril: "Classy as always Alabama. Anyway, tonight I was scheduled to compete in a hair versus mask match against that no good son of a gun Mr. Olympia, and believe me when I tell you that there is nothing I want more in this world than to rip that stupid looking rag off of his face and expose his hideous, mongoloid features to the world! However, this past Monday night as I was competing against Vic Steamboat I executed a wrestling maneuver known as a leap frog, and when I landed I was severely injured due to the shoddy construction of the Twin States Wrestling ring and the poor work of the Birmingham ring crew. I had to be helped from the ring by Tugboat Ramirez and I was taken to a local medical facility where I was diagnosed with conjunctivitis, a sprained and broken ankle, gout, a torn ACL, MCL, and PCL, athlete's foot, a broken femur, tennis elbow of the knee, hammer toe, as well as the third, fourth, and fifth metatarsal being dislocated and broken. So no matter how much I may hate Mr. Olympia, and no matter how much I want to risk my hair so that I can take that stupid mask away from him, I unfortunately can not risk my newly surgically repaired leg and my career to do so. Sometimes you just have to live to fight another day amigos." Les Thatcher comes out from the back and walks up to the Fiesta Garden stage. He takes a moment to look at Madril's leg, and then gets a smirk on his face like he knows the whole thing is total bullshit. Al holds the microphone out for him. Les Thatcher: "Madril, I don't buy for a minute that you are hurt, but you know what, I don't care. We promised these people a match with some stakes for the main event this week, and we are going to give them one. So if you aren't wrestling Olympia, then your friend Tugboat can wrestle him and if he loses, you can get your haircut!! Al Madril: WOAH! WOAH! WOAH! Wait a minute, wait a minute! That's not fair! I should be able to defend my own hair! What if Tugboat's mask is on the line?" Tugboat: "What?" Al Madril: "Just go with it, I'll double your pay....." Tugboat: "Works for me." Les Thatcher: "No Way Madril, we promised....." Mr. Olympia comes from the back and his arm is in a sling! He comes to the Fiesta Garden stage and Les Thatcher looks at him like "What the Hell" while Madril eyes him suspiciously. Mr. Olympia: "It's okay Les. Al doesn't need to put his hair on the line tonight, because I can't put my mask on the line tonight. Because as you can see, I was also injured this past Monday night." Thatcher throws his hands up into the air, while Madril loudly says "bullcrap." Mr. Olympia: "It's true. Mr. Madril came to the ring and distracted me, causing me to be rolled up by Jack Hart. With all of Mr. Hart's weight on top of me, my shoulder became separated, my elbow was dislocated, my rotator cuff was torn, my wrist was fractured, and my pinky finger was bent backwards at an unnatural angle." Al Madril: "Stop stealing my bit....." Mr. Olympia: "Anyway Les, I understand that you need a main event here tonight, so if Mr. Madril's bodyguard is willing to put his mask on the line, I have a good friend of mine that is willing to wrestle in my place. He also wears a mask and he will put it on the line in a Mask versus Mask match." Les Thatcher: "Who is he?" Al Madril: "Yeah.... Who?" Mr. Olympia: "Ladies and Gentleman...... Super Duper Olympia......" Super Duper Olympia comes lumbering from behind the curtain as the fan's go absolutely crazy. Les Thatcher is shaking his head, while Madril's eyes are as wide as dinner plates. Les Thatcher: "You know what. Fine. Whatever. It's a match." Thatcher walks away from the Fiesta Garden with a look of annoyance on his face. He glances up at "Super Duper Olympia" and just shakes his head as they pass one another. Thatcher then disappears behind the curtain. The giant masked man makes his way to the Fiesta Garden stage and stands beside Mr. Olympia. Al Madril meawhile is staring at the big man with a look that appears to be a mix of anger and fear. Mr. Olympia: "Well Madril, do you think Tugboat Ramirez can beat my pal Super Duper Olympia?" Al Madril: "What are you trying to pull here Olympia? We both know who that is!" Mr. Olympia: "Yeah, it's my good friend Super Duper Olympia." Al Madril: "Cut the Crap!! We both know that's Plowboy Frazier!" Mr. Olympia: "Don't you mean Plowboy Reyes?" Al Madril: "Huh? Oh Yeah....." Mr. Olympia: "or was it Plowboy Sanchez?" Al Madril: "Ummm..... Could have been...." Mr. Olympia: "No, wait... it was Plowboy Lopez." Al Madril: "Stop trying to confuse me Olympia!" Mr. Olympia: "You're right, it was Plowboy Martinez." Al Madril: "Yeah, sure...whatever. I fired that big, fat oaf!" Mr. Olympia: "Now, Wait a minute. I thought he was your lifelong friend and you were mourning his loss." Al Madril: "What! Yeah! You're just confusing me! I'm done talking to you. Plowboy, listen to me buddy. This guy attacked you with a chair. Whatever he did to convince you to dress up like this, he is lying to you. The only reason I wasn't there for you is because I thought you were dead. Did you not see the eulogy we had for you?" Mr. Olympia hands the microphone to the big man who steps toward Madril. "You listen here Madril. My name is Plowb.... Super Duper Olympia, and tonight I am going to unmask Tugboat Tay.... Ramirez in the main event." The two Olympia's walk away from the Fiesta Garden, and Madril takes a step to go after them before remembering his injured leg which he immediately goes back to selling as the show goes to commercial. =================== MATCH #1: Billy Joe Travis/Tommy "Wildfire" Rich defeated Randy Watson/Jackie Daytona when Rich pinned Watson after a piledriver Promo recap: (After the match, Tommy Rich slips on a t-shirt that reads "WE GOT ROBBED!") He says he wants Fuller one on one in the cage in Birmingham and he's fine with putting the Twin States title on the line if that what it takes to get his hands on Fuller!) ==================== COMMERCIAL BREAK ==================== MATCH #3: MAIN EVENT Super Duper Olympia w/Mr. Olympia and Tugboat Ramirez w/Al Madril wrestled to a Double Disqualification. The two lumbering big men exchanged blows for several minutes and were both sucking enough wind behind the masks that the first few rows were starting to be deprived of oxygen. Then Ramirez inadvertently hit the referee while swinging his big arm backwards to throw another haymaker. No sooner than the referee hit the canvas, Madril started removing his knee brace and walking boot. Once he had it off, he slid into the ring and blasted Super Duper Olympia across the back with one of his crutches which broke in half and the big man fell to the mat like a giant oak tree. Meanwhile, Mr. Olympia slid into the ring, and removed the sling on his arm. Apparently the lead pipe that appeared in his hands had been bracing it the whole time. He then used said lead pipe to clock Tugboat Ramirez in the back of the head, and he crumbled to the mat like a ton of bricks. Madril and Olympia locked eyes from across the ring, then both looked over to see the referee starting to get to his feet. Madril quickly dropped his half a crutch next to the fallen Super Duper Olympia, while Mr. Olympia dropped the pipe next to Tugboat. They both then slowly backed out of the ring and up their respective aisles, watching each other the whole way. When the referee came too, he saw both men laying unconcious on the mat, each with a weapon laying beside them. He spoke to the ring announcer who then announced that both men were DQ'ed for using a weapon, and thusly both would be unmasked. A host of officials came to the ring to help both of the big men up, and to get them unmasked. To the shock of absolutely no one, they were Plowboy Frazier and Tugboat Taylor. Autistic Dragon
Best opening to an episode of Twin States ever as we skip straight to the Fiesta Garden! I wish the Dothan fans had shown more respect, I can only imagine how much pain Al was in standing there with "Tennis elbow of the knee" lol! It gets even worse when Mr Olympia comes out & reveals he's ALSO too injured to compete. Hope he gets his pinky finger reset. But seriously, watching Olympia run circles around Madril on his own set was classic! Loved how thrown off Alberto was by the debut of Plowb....I mean Super Duper Olympia. And it ends with them both getting unmasked! Perfect ending! Tommy is so fired up, he's willing to put his Twin States career on the line to get him & Travis another tag title shot. Big Boy Britches. Lol. So psyched for Chamber of Horrors. Three cage matches -one of which for the Heavyweight Title- and a triple bullrope match? Sounds like my kind of Halloween. Scarlet-Left
Great to see Tommy Rich being himself in the opener! Loved the write-up for the main event!
spaldoni
What a way to kick off the show! It's a miracle that Madril even showed up with all the injuries he suffered LOL. I loved the angle here with Tugboat and Plowboy. Thatcher's reaction to all this was icing on the cake. Tommy puts it all on the line against his cousins. Not sure Travis is as confident. Desperados and Thunderfoots in a triple bull rope match is Twin States at its best. Fuller better get ready because the wrath of Brad is coming! The main event was pure entertainment and so much fun. Loved it! We get the huge blow off as the big men's masks come off for the shocking revealing. I can't wait for Olympia vs. Madril, one on one. Bring on the Chamber of Horrors! GeneJackson95
Twin States Wrestling CHAMBER OF HORRORS Monday Oct 31, 1987 Boutwell Auditorium Birmingham, Alabama Bell Time: 7:30pm Vic Steamboat pinned "Gentleman" Jack Hart w/Downtown Bruno with an inside cradle FINAL SHOWDOWN Ranger Ross/Brickhouse Brown defeated Boris Zhukov/Soldat Ustinov w/Sir Oliver Humperdink when Ross pinned Ustinov after a "combat kick" ALABAMA JUNIOR HEAVYWEIGHT CHAMPIONSHIP Scott Armstrong defeated "Flamboyant" Eric Embry w/Downtown Bruno by DQ when Downtown Bruno got caught interfering TRIPLE BULLROPE MATCH The Lone Desperados (#1/#2/#3) defeated The Thunderfoots (#1/#2/#3) in a crazy, bloody…and as far as we know first ever TRIPLE BULLROPE MATCH…..at different points in the match everyone but Lone Desperado #3 was unmasked (who turned out to be Mr. Olympia) during the course of the match Lone Desperado #1 was revealed to be Wendell Cooley, L.D. #2 was revealed to be Johnny Mantell…….Thunderfoot #1 was Joel Deaton, Thunderfoot #2 was Ron Bass, and Thunderfoot #3 was none other than Dirty Rhodes. STEEL CAGE MATCH Los Mega Starrs (Chicky/Ron) defeated The Nightmares (Danny Davis/Ken Wayne) when "Tennessee Stud" Ron Fuller came down and slide some brass knucks through the cage to Ron Starr who knocked out Ken Wayne and pinned him. After the match as Los Mega Starrs and Ron Fuller were celebrating, a masked man who appeared to be "The Bullet" came down and threw a fireball in the face of Ron Fuller!! SEMI-MAIN EVENT STEEL CAGE MATCH TWIN STATES TAG TEAM CHAMPIONSHIP LOSER OF THE FALL LEAVES TWIN STATES Johnny/Davey Rich vs. Billy Joe Travis/Tommy "Wildfire" Rich w/Downtown Bruno The champions ended up coming out first. Billy Joe Travis came out by himself and said that "due to circumstances beyond his control" Tommy Rich couldn't be there tonight. He said that Tommy did however send his "real cousin" Timmy Rich (Tim Patterson) to wrestle in his place. "Timmy Rich" came out wearing a t-shirt that read "TOMMY DOUBLE BOOKED HIMSELF". REVISED SEMI-MAIN EVENT STEEL CAGE MATCH TWIN STATES TAG TEAM CHAMPIONSHIP LOSER OF THE FALL LEAVES TWIN STATES Johnny/Davey Rich defeated Billy Joe Travis/Timmy "Mildfire" Rich w/Downtown Bruno when Johnny Rich pinned Timmy Rich with a "Thesz Press"! Travis and Downtown Bruno left Patterson in the ring after the loss MAIN EVENT STEEL CAGE MATCH TWIN STATES HEAVYWEIGHT CHAMPIONSHIP Brad Armstrong vs. "Tennessee Stud" Ron Fuller Just before the main event, Les Thatcher came out and announced that due to the fact that Ron Fuller was taken to the hospital after being burned earlier in the evening. Brad Armstrong is left without a challenger. This brought out (much to everyone's surprise) "the Great" Al Madril who was sans a bodyguard now. Thatcher asked what Madril was doing here seemingly fine after claiming to have a laundry list of injuries on Saturday. Madril claimed that he went to church on Sunday on was touched by a faith healer and "Hallelujah, I woke up healed! Amen!" He followed that up by pointing out he never got his "much deserved" rematch with Brad Armstrong after "that stunt Special Olympia pulled"! Thatcher wasn't happy but being in a bad spot with no challenger, he agreed to give him the match. NEW MAIN EVENT STEEL CAGE MATCH TWIN STATES HEAVYWEIGHT CHAMPIONSHIP Brad Armstrong vs. "The Great" Al Madril A pretty competitive match for a good 15 minutes or so until……Madril did a leap frog and crumbled to the mat screaming in pain…."my knee is gone…..I'm mean for real this time! My knee is really blown out, I'm not kidding!" The referee struggles to keep Brad back because he clearly doesn't believe Madril is hurt. Madril reaches into his trunks and pulls out something…….finally Armstrong shoves the referee out of his way and charges in to drag Madril off the mat, when Madril sprays something into Brad's eyes…..Al quickly rolls him up and gets the 1--2--3!! New Twin States Champion "the Great" Al Madril! Madril leaps to his feet and begins jumping up and down celebrating as Armstrong writhes on the match covering face, ringsiders speculate on what Madril sprayed in his eyes to be mace or pepper spray. Madril: "I DID IT I DID IT!! All by myself! I didn't need any fake Mexican bodyguards…….it was all ME!!" The fans begin to throw things towards the ring but they bounce off the cage as Madril continues his celebration as Brad Armstrong is helped out of the ring by referees and the ringside medic
Autistic Dragon
Steamboat gets the night off to a good start with a win over the Gentlemen. Ross & Brown get the last word on the Russians. Bruno botches his spot costing Embry the Alabama Jr Heavyweight Title. The masks come off during the triple bullrope match meaning the Outlaws & Cooley/Mantel can get back to business as themselves. Fuller helps Los Mega Stars beat the Nightmares but eats a fireball courtesy of the Bullet! The whole thing with "cousin" Timmy "Mildfire" Rich had me cracking up! Tommy's gonna be real mad when he hears Timmy let him down. God bless that faith healer because at long last, "The Great" Al Madril is Twin States Heavyweight Champion! Hallelujah! I'll expect the title to be properly displayed on a pedestal at all future Fiesta Gardens.
kevinmcfl
Really enjoyed the TV show. I think the Fiesta Garden through the main event was really well done. The fake injuries, the match, Mr. Olympia and Madril basically taking off their fake medical equipment to reveal the weapons. Awesome! I just love what we have all made of Tommy Rich in this game. He has been an awesome heel. Wonder what will happen in the family feud... Onto the Boutwell The Triple Bull Rope match was very interesting as masks kept coming off. Can't wait to hear about this on the next show. What will Thatcher have to say about all of this. The Bullet gets even with a fireball but I wonder if their will be consequences or does the mask give him a pass. Tommy Rich being Tommy Rich.... At least we got another T-Shirt. Madril's status as a top heel is growing by the week!
spaldoni
Vic Steamboat continues to rack up wins. Ross and Brickhouse put a stamp on their feud with the Russians. Bruno tries but gets caught. Hopefully we get more Scott/Embry matches. This could be a really fun feud. Wild triple bullrope match where the masks keep coming off. This would've been a blast to see live. Fuller thinks he's riding high after helping the Starrs beat the Nightmares. That comes to an abrupt end with a revenge fireball from the Bullet. Tommy no shows but we get 'Mildfire' and one hilarious shirt. This was so funny and was topped off by Travis and Bruno simply walking out on Mildfire LOL. Madril is a walking miracle and wouldn't you know it, he walks out with the title! I can only imagine what the next Fiesta Garden will be like. Twin States continues to deliver the heat. LowBlowPodcast
Six-man bull rope matches...Steel Cage marquee matches... I love the fireball in southern wrestling. I remember seeing it for the first time in Memphis and I was always hooked from there. Al Madril on top of the world... where are we living? rainmakerrtv
Gotta think that Al Madril winning the title had to have the fans livid. The next Fiesta Gardens will be a riot.
