Title Renamed UWF Championship on Nov. 26, 1986 with the birth of the UWF.   Hacksaw Butch Reed is still champ

Lex Luger defeated Butch Reed in Biloxi, Mississippi at the Gulf Coast Coliseum on July 4, 1987

 

MID-SOUTH  TAG TEAM TITLE

(FORMERLY THE NWA WORLD TAG TEAM TITLE & THE UWF TITLE

 

Demolition is given the title as they were the Mid-South Tag Champions when the UWF was born on November 26,1986

Terry Gordy & Steve Williams defeats Demolition on March 15, 1987 at the Superdome in New Orleans, Louisiana 

Vader & Barbarian defeated Terry Gordy & Steve Williams on July 4, 1987 at the Gulf Coast Coliseum in Biloxi, Mississippi

Title Vacated on August 15th for no real reason.  (UWF temporarily had a new writer.  His idea)

Scott Steiner & Hercules Hernandez defeat The Natural Disasters (Avalanche & Typhoon) to win the vacated titles at Halloween Havoc on October 31, 1987 at the Sam Houston Coliseum.

 

UWF NORTH AMERICAN TITLE

(FORMERLY THE NWA  NORTH AMERCIAN TITLE

Butch Reed wins a one night tournament defeating Bob Roop, Billy Jack Strong & Jake Roberts in the Sam Houton Coliseum on Aug. 20. 1986 in Houston, TX.  Reed was rolled over as North American Champion as the promotion changed from the NWA to the UWF.

Jake Roberts defeated Butch Reed on October 27, 1986 at the Rapides Parrish Coliseum in Alexandria, Coliseum.

Ted Dibiase defeated Jake Roberts on March 15, 1987 at the Superdome in New Orleans, Louisiana 

"Dr. Death" Steve Williams defeated Ted Dibiase on June 3, 1988 at Lakefront Arena in New Orleans, Louisiana

 

UWF TELEVISION TITLE

Brad Armstrong defeated Billy Jack Strong in Dallas, TX in Reunion Arena on Dec. 26, 1986

Eddie Gilbert defeats Brad Armstrong in Houston, TX in the Summit on May 26, 1987

Titled Vacated when Eddie Gilbert left the UWF for Mid-South Revolution Wrestling

Matt Borne defeated Chris Benoit in an 8 man tournament in the UWF TV Studios on July 11, 1987

Mike Rotundo defeated Matt Borne in Dallas, TX in The Sportatorium on August 8, 1987

Hacksaw Jim Duggan defeated Mike Rotundo  at Halloween Havoc  in Houston, TX in the Sam Houston Coliseum on October 31, 1987. 

Rick Steiner with Missy Hyatt defeated Hacksaw Jim Duggan in New Orleans, Louisiana in Lakefront Arena om March, 6, 1988,

Magnum T.A. defeats Terry Funk on January 31, 1985 in the Kiel Auditorium in St. Louis, MO to win the vacated title in a one night 16 man tournament

Tully Blanchard defeats Magnum T.A. on September 7, 1985 at the Tulsa Fairgrounds Arena, in Tulsa Oklahoma at Wrestlefest 85.  

Magnum T.A. (2) defeats Tully Blanchard on December 25, 1985 at The Lake Front Arena in New Orleans, Louisiana.  

Nikta Koloff defeated Magnum T.A. on July 5, 1986 at the Great American Bash at The Louisiana Superdome in New Orleans, LA 

Magnum T.A. (3) defeats Nikita Koloff on August 30, 1986 at the Gulf Coast COnvention Center in Biloxi, MS at Beach Brawl 86

Title Vacated on October 21, 1986 after it became clear how serious the injuries from the car accident were for Magnum T.A.

Butch Reed defeats Tommy Rich in the finals of a 16-man tournament on Oct.31, 1986 to fill the vacated title at Halloween Havoc in the Omni in Atlanta, GA

 

NWA WORLD TAG TEAM TITLE

 

Hacksaw Butch Reed & Steve "Dr. Death" Williams defeat The Hart Foundation on Feb. 20, 1985 in Tulsa, Oklahoma to win the vacated title in an 8 team tourny

Harley Race & Larry Zbyszko defeated Hacksaw Butch Reed & Steve "Dr. Death" Williams on May 10, 1985 in Oklahoma City at the Cox Convention Center.

Ted Dibiase & Dr. Death defeated Harely Race & Larry Zbyszko  on September 7, 1985 at the Tulsa Fairgrounds Arena, in Tulsa Oklahoma at Wrestlefest85.  

The Rock n Roll Express defeated Ted Dibiase & Dr. Death on November 26, 1985 at the Sam Houston Coliseum in Houston Texas (Thanksgiving Spectacular)

The Freebirds defeated The Rock n Roll Express on January 25, 1986 at The Bayfront Arena in Corpus Christi, Texas

Ted Dibiase & Dr. Death (2) defeat The Freebirds on March 14, 1986 at The Hemisfair Arena in San Antonio, Texas.

Ole & Arn Anderson defeat Ted Dibiase & Dr. Death on October 31, 1986 in the Omni in Atlanta, GA at Halloween Havoc.  

 

NWA NORTH AMERICAN TITLE 

 

Kevin VonErich enters the NWA from Mid-South Wrestling.  The NWA simple said he was champ all along. 

Jimmy Garvin defeats Kerry VonErich on May 7. 1985 in the Muncipal Auditorium in New Orleans, Louisiana

Austin Idol defeated Jimmy Garvin  on September 7, 1985 at the Tulsa Fairgrounds Arena, in Tulsa Oklahoma at Wrestlefest85.  

Harley Race defeated Austin Idol on November 26, 1985 at the Sam Houston Coliseum in Houston Texas (Thanksgiving Spectacular)

Jake Roberts defeated Harley Race on March 14, 1986 at The Hemisfair Arena in San Antonio, Texas.

Terry Gordy defeated Jake Robets on April 19,1986 at the Sporatorium in Dallas, Texas

Title Vacated on August 4, 1986 due to injury suffered by Terry Gordy as he was blinded by Michael Hayes at the Great American Bash

The Fabulous Ones (Keirn and Lane) enter the NWA after Mid-South closed as the fictitious North American Tag Champs on March 12, 1985

The Midnight Express (Condrey & Lane) managed by Jim Cornette defeat the Fabulous Ones on April 23, 1985 in the Municipal Auditorium in New Orleans

The Hart Foundation (Brett Hart & Jim Neidhart) defeat the Midnight Express on May 21, 1985 in The Riverside Centroplex in Baton Rouge, Louisiana,  

The Midnight Express managed by Jim Cornette defeat the Hart Foundation on July 5, 1985 at the Great American Bash in the Bay Center in Pensacola, Florida.  

The Rock n Roll Express defeated the Midnight Express on October, 6, 1985 at Kiel Auditorium in St. Louis, Missouri

The Zambuie Express defeated The Rock n Roll Express on November 30, 1985 at the Lake Front Arena in New Orleans.

Ted Dibiase & Dr. Death Steve Williams defeated The Zambuie Express on December 25, 1985 at The Lake Front Arena in New Orleans, Louisiana.

Jerry Lawler defeated Butch Reed on January 25, 1986 at The Bayfront Arena in Corpus Christi, Texas

Butch Reed defeated Jerry Lawler on March 14, 1986 at The Hemisfair Arena in San Antonio, Texas.

Bad News Allen defeated Butch Reed on July 5, 1986 at the Great American Bash at The Louisiana Superdome in New Orleans, LA 

Rocky Johnson defeats Bad News Allen on September 18, 1986 at The Fairgrounds Arena in Jackson, Mississippi

TITLED UNIFIED WITH THE UWF TAG TEAM TITLE WHEN THE UWF WAS BORN-MASKED SUPERSTARS (DEMOLITION) FIRST UWF CHAMPS

 

NWA WORLD TELEVISION TITLE

Jesse Ventura defeated Ron Garvin on April 11, 1985 in Memorial Hall in Kansas City, Missouri to become the first champ.

Dusty Rhodes defeated Jesse Ventua on July 12, 1985 in Irish McNeil's Boys Club in Shreveport, Louisiana.  

Kevin Sullivan defeated Dusty Rhodes on October, 31, 1985 in Kiel Audiorium in St. Louis Missouri.

TITLE VACATED ON JAN. 18, 1986

 

NWA  WORLD JUNIOR HEAVYWEIGHT TITLE  

Keith Hart defeated Tim Horner to win the vacated title on September 7, 1985 at the Tulsa Fairgrounds Arena, in Tulsa Oklahoma at Wrestlefest 85.  

Tim Horner defeated Keith Hart on October, 31, 1985 in Kiel Audiorium in St. Louis Missouri.

Keiichi Yamada defeated Tim Horner on December 25, 1985 at The Lake Front Arena in New Orleans, Louisiana.  

TITLE VACATED ON MARCH 1, 1986  WITH A FICTITIOUS TITLE CHANGE TO THE BLACK CAT IN JAPAN.

Tim Horner (2) defeated The Black Cat on April 2, 1986 WITH A FICTITIOUS TITLE CHANGE TO THE BLACK CAT IN JAPAN.

Steve Regal defeated Tim Horner on May 17, 1986 at the Boutwell Auditorium in Birmingham, Alabama

Eric Embry defeated Steve Regal on July 3, 1986 at the Great American Bash at McNichols Arena in Denver, Colorado

NWA  WOMEN'S WORLD TITLE  

The Fabulous Moolah enters the NWA with the belt in June of 1985

Misty Blue Simmes defeats  the Fabulous Moolah on July 5, 1985 at the Great American Bash in the Bay Center in Pensacola, Florida.  

Wendy Richter defeats Misty Blue Simmes on September 8, 1985 at the Sam Houston Coliseum in Houston, Texas.

Bad News Brown wins battle royal to become AWA World Champion 7-15-87, Hammond Center 

Nikita Koloff defeated Bad News Brown 7-15-88, Minneapolis MN

Jumbo Tsuruta defeated Nikita Koloff 12-30-88, Denver CO 

 

AWA World Tag Team Titles

Curt Hennig and Brian Adias defeated Porkchop Cash and Snowman 5-7-86, Hammond Center 

Cabin Fever (Manny Fernandez and Grizzly Boone) defeated Curt Hennig and Brian Adias 9-6-86

Priceless (Gerry Morrow and George Wells) defeated Cabin Fever 

Jumbo Tsuruta and Tatsumi Fujinami defeated Priceless 11-26-86, St. Paul 

The Bruise Brothers (Snowman and Larry Cameron) defeated Jumbo Tsuruta and Tatsumi Fujinami 7-4-87, Mid South Coliseum

The Bruise Brothers would use the Freebird Rule as Tony Atlas was a part of the group. Snowman left the AWA in December and it would be Atlas and Cameron defending the titles.

DJ Peterson and Kevin Kelly defeated The Bruise Brothers 3-11-88, San Juan Puerto Rico 

Hector and Chavo Guerrero defeated DJ Peterson and Kevin Kelly 5-13-88, Anchorage Alaska 

 

AWA Mid-American Title

Austin Idol defeated Mike George in a match to determine the first champ 2-4-88, Mecca Arena 

Larry Zbyszko defeated Austin Idol 4-15-88, Market Square Arena 

Paul Orndorff defeated Larry Zbyszko, 12-30-88, Denver CO

 

AWA TV Title 

Scott Casey defeated Jose Estrada to determine the first TV champ, 4-2-86, Hammond Center 

Greg Gagne defeated Scott Casey 7-23-86, Hammond Center 

Nick Busick defeated Greg Gagne 1-7-87, Hammond Center 

Larry Zbyszko defeated Nick Busick 2-4-88, Mecca Arena 

Larry Zbyszko vacated the title after winning the Mid American title. Gerry Morrow drew two names to wrestle for the title. 

Brian Adias defeated Dream Machine, 4-21-88, Hammond Center

 

AWA National Tag Titles

Larry Zbyszko and Al Perez defeated Porkchop Cash and Snowman in tournament finals 11-26-86

Jumbo Tsuruta and Tatsumi Fujinami defeated Larry Zbyszko and Al Perez in a titles vs. titles match. 5-28-87, Liberty Bowl.

National titles had to be vacated.

The Quebecers (Richard Charland and Phil Lafon) defeated The British Bombers (Dave Tayor and Johnny Smith) in tournament finals 7-3-87, Mecca Arena

The Technicians (Brad Rheingans and Mark Fleming) defeated The Quebecers 9-3-87, Richmond KY

Venomous (Cobra and Kat) defeated The Technicians 12-31-87, St. Paul 

Badd Co. defeated Venomous 7-15-88. Minneapolis MN

The Gunslingers defeated Badd CO., 11-18-88, Milwaukee WI

1.  Randy Savage vacated the World Title when Ted Turner purchased WCW on August 5, 1988.

2.  Ric Flair won a Gauntlet Match over Lex Luger, Hacksaw Butch Reed, Dusty Rhodes and Sting in The Tulsa Convention Center in Tulsa, OK on August 14, 1988

1.  Tom Zenk enters Ted Turner's WCW as the WCW  World Television Champion
