Continental Championship Wrestling July 1985

I wonder if Tojo will punish Khan after the humiliating loss to the young Cooley. Happy Dundee & Street made it to the final two teams against the Nightmates. I was pulling for the Exotic-Superstars to take it all, but they fell just short. Gilbert & Rich doing the Stud (Studd) Stable to the real Stud Stable is fun. Reminds me of when they replaced the Fabs. Oh wait, that's not a good comparison. lol -
JWA June 1985 - Factions Draft! Festival of Champions!
Crazymax Jack replied to gordi's topic in Promotions
Gordi, I've spent years studying each and every territory, decade by decade, so I appreciate you taking the time to make sure you know all about the guys you're writing for. Also agreed that Tenryu vs. Muraco could steal any show if Don is motivated. Though Muraco opted to be lazy most of the time in 87/88, even then when he felt like working he could. I'm sure a few Tenryu chops will motivate anyone. My favorite kind of sake is free sake. -
The UWF shined here as a promotion which obviously was the main goal. I get both sides of the Flair discussion. The roster for this card was absolutely sick. You can't really go wrong with anyone on the show, even Austin Idol showed up as scheduled! Love the MX vs. Fabs, and Barbarian & Haku showing up. Love the format too, the separation and font colors are easy on the eyes and easy to see the separation between each segment.

Going to miss Rude & Gang here after they were built up so well... It'll be hard to replace two established main attractions but you're booking can get the job done.

World Wrestling Council from Puerto Rico - May/June

I like that much of the roster is true to the area. I always felt Tamba was underrated and should have been used more in the territories. Quite a talent for his size, a precursor to the Headhunters. Interesting angle going on with Colt & Kane. Anything with Colt is a winner for me. -
I love this because it feels like late 80s WWF. Always something to build to no matter how far away it is. Royal brawl was fun, Nikita looked like a monster in the end. Speaking of Nikita, his epic showdown with Hogan must be coming but curious to see who Hulk selects as his partner for SNME. Hate to be a heel but I hope the Machines get unmasked. lol

NWA Mid Atlantic Championship Wrestling June 1985

Love the TV Taping format you've got going. So much good stuff going on. Hate to see 24 Karat have their issues. Really enjoying that one. Not a big fan of honoring jail sentences (Patera/Saito) since it's short term and for silly reasons. I respect any league that honors these things for the interest of reality, but I think in fantasy it's better to use them and show what they COULD have done if they weren't working the AWA at that questionable period in time. lol -
Easily one of my favorite reads here in this league. I love the detail and time you put into your craft. Excellent stuff and always a big fan of territories that aren't considered one of the "top ones". So much good going on here. Love the team of Lefebvre & Charland. Good to see Charland being put with someone who can help him reach the next level.

JWA July 1985 - JWA Japanese Championship Tournament

Tough loss for Phil Hickerson, I was pulling for him! Seriously, I was. Maybe not for the whole thing, but at least the first match. lol Adonis with a flying elbow? Now there's a sight to see! Agree with Kevin that you got the fans attention early, you certainly got mine. -

lol... funny AND true! -
With this being 1985 I see the point about Dingo. I don't even know if he could be carried by the best at this point, but hey it's fantasy. You've done a good job of sticking him against and around people to help compensate. Again, your formatting here is very easy on the eyes and easy to follow.
-
Great roster here, love the most recent TV. I really like this format, very easy on the eyes and laid out nicely. You've got a lot going on between the move and all of your writing.

Jesse Ewiak! now there's a man I haven't seen in a long time. I remember when you used to write fantasy Japan over at crazymax. Good to see you posting here from time to time. As for the WWF. Everything here is clicking, though I'm not a fan of the Machines. That's not your fault, that's the real WWF's fault. This version here is far better than the real WWF version but still it's the Machines. Japan version was fun IRL. Back to everything clicking. I think I heard Hillbilly Jim's neck click. One of my favorite spots ever is the Koloffs murdering the Hillbilly!

Continental Championship Wrestling June 1985

Agree Kevin, Gene has always had a good handle on the entertainment value of the program, from promos to creative ideas. This has been no different. I was wondering how the June 10th show would be followed up and TV did not disappoint. -

Utilizing the perfect roster for this area. Fun stuff Gene. -
SMW puts up a ton of hot angles and matches with more already announced on the way. The Jr. tourney should be great with stars from all over participating. The RPM's win match #1 in the series over the Express, hope Ricky & Robert can even those odds in match #2. Hugo as a manager in Tennessee vs. Lawler, I wrote a program like that years back with David Schultz playing the part of Abby here. So I approve of this idea and I think it fits really well. Did WWE steal your Gama idea and run with his real life nephew Jinder? Always enjoyed Gama's stuff in Calgary so I'm glad he's getting a deserved push here. Stuff going on everywhere, sure to sell out the buildings!

Love the use of the 6-Man titles as something meaningful. Proof that the titles can work when utilized properly. Also, a big fan of Kimura being used here. It's different and it works.
-
You're a busy guy my man, and you still manage to put out quality angles and TV shows. Love it.
-
Savage is having some fun encounters here. Love Hogan vs. Race being booked as well. WWF is all over the U.S. with solid cards. Hogan vs. Nikita is going to sell out somewhere big I can feel it.

This stuff just keeps picking up steam. Loving so many things going on here. Your TV is second to none and the house show cards are some of the best out there for sure. -
I dig the layout here. Rather than separating every house show and pasting the same results repeatedly, you just listed all the cities in advance and the card once. Brilliance. I know it sounds like common sense, but very few use this method. Oh, and I'm totally on board with a 1985 Dino Bravo working with Savage. Dino didn't start deteriorating until 1987, and by 1988 he was unrecognizable as the worker he once was. Nikita continues to dominate .
-
He certainly had the look. I'm just not a fan of his work, has nothing to do with the writing. Enjoying the product. The feel is authentic to the area.
-
Superb roster of talent here. But beyond that they're all being used perfectly. Torneo Cibernetico running wild. Good stuff.
