  1. The Chikara work is a lot earlier in their careers but a lot of fun.
  2. Having gone to a couple of ROH shows in the last few months, the difference in energy for stuff involving the Elite and the stuff that does not is palpable. ROH is really dependent on them. I think they realize that - they position all those guys well and are starting to build the TV show around the Bullet Club drama. Delirious tends to ruin whatever he touches so it doesn't surprise me the stuff he has the least control over is doing the best.
  3. Super Smash Brothers have personality unlike Osprey too.
  4. They could always bring in guy's like Dragon Lee.
  5. Connections and the fact that they were mostly a special attraction. Wanted to bring in some women for a show. You could either get Penny Banner and then try to find someone to wrestle her or you could call Moolah and have your pick of a whole squad of them.
  6. Yeah. You remove The Elite stuff and you have a card that would be lucky to do 1,500 people.
  7. He's really not even the best spot monkey out there. The Bucks and Ricochet do it better than he does.
  8. Depends on the botch. The botch towards the end of Bayley/Sasha in Brooklyn didn't detract from the match at all.
  9. Stardom is really good for just hitting a match or two a night and slowly digesting the shows.
  10. Bayley at one of the NXT shows I went to. You could just feel the tension in the building grow as her music was about to play and then the crowd absolutely exploded when it fired up. It was like seeing Goldberg at his peak in WCW when everyone was just buzzing because he was about to come out.
  11. Didn't Jericho and Benoit against Austin and HHH slow the bleeding of the post X-7 ratings decline?
  12. Especially when Mildred Burke was selling out arenas in her time. Women's wrestling was a joke for a long time because of Moolah. I think what people are missing here is. If she was doing what some of those women have alleged. She wouldn't do that to everyone, that would be fucking stupid and endanger the scam. If some girl comes along with a family and a strong social support structure, you're going to treat them completely different than someone who is from a broken situation and has little they can do to you.
  13. I went with Benoit. That one was so close I almost said a draw. I would say that Benoit's high end matches are better than DB's are. I think he had a better presence and aura about him as well. I think the tag against Austin and HHH and the singles match with Austin a few weeks before or after that match are better than anything DB has done. But this was really close to the point I almost picked a draw.
  14. The alleged student he fooled around with was Saturyne. Who got fired from TNA her first night on the job a few months ago.
  15. He's a weird case at Reddit. I have no doubt he is hard to work for but some people hold what he pays against him but also have no idea what your average indy wrestler makes.
  16. It's hard to tell. Some of that stuff was a work.
  17. I pretty much stopped watching this time after the Braun job in September. I wasn't mad or anything, I just got tired of interesting angles popping up and having to be ignored because Brock is a part timer and they are bound and determined to stick to the Mania main event no one wants. My real exit was the Chris Benoit murders. That was a solid 5 years of watching zero wrestling until I got into Chikara and that brought me back. Now for Chikara, there wasn't a specific angle that made me give up on them. The company just didn't have the same feel that it did before the shutdown angle. Can we take a moment and talk about the Chikara shutdown angle? I think I would place that as one of the dumbest things a promoter has ever done. They were red hot and firing on all cylinders creatively. It's now been years since that angle and they still haven't recovered from it.
  18. I think it would have been remembered better but would have done worse at the time. They were riding that crash TV wave and trying to change directions before it was starting to run its course might have caused them a lot of problems.
  19. He should be if he isn't. I also enjoy his appearances on various shows. He's a lot of fun.
  20. Apter's not a journalist and never really purported to be one, except in kayfabe terms. (Maybe he did in his earliest days covering boxing? Not sure about that.) So you can't judge them by the same standards. why was he up on the WON HOF then and people hold PWI 500 highly fan wise Because the PWI 500 is fun. It's fun to go in the back and see the random indy guys back there. And there's a certain touch of nostalgia to it. We all remember those bottom 50 guys like the Japanese Pool Boy or Mr. Oh-la-la. He's an essential part of wrestling history and that's why he's in the WON HoF. But he's a kayfabe journalist. The Apter mags are about presenting wrestling in a magazine in kayfabe. Apter could be argued to be a wrestling historian but he's never pretended to be a journalist.
  21. Nothing better than a guy getting popped for steroids twice in 3 months.
  22. I know there are a couple of vets here. I usually book TCW or SWF and those are comfortable zone places for me. I'm trying out USPW and I was hoping for some tips. The roster is fairly foreign to me minus some guys they've grabbed. What's the best way to book the promotion and are there any match notes that work well here.
  23. I really can't stand Prichard. He's insightful at times but he's just an obnoxious ass more often than not.
  24. No interest in anything involving him. If he's a vegetable at 50 I don't want to see or read the sob stories about it. I can't watch football anymore because I can't watch them kill themselves and I'm not going to watch him do it.
  25. They are what promoters have spent most of this decade hoping Mike Bennet and Maria could possibly be. They have great chemistry and they just roll around in being scumbags together. It's so much fun.
