  1. It's not amazing but Eddie Guerrero vs. Rey Misterio vs. CM Punk is an interesting historical oddity.
  2. I think the bull rope match with Mark Briscoe is his crowning achievement in RoH. He wrestled that match like his character. The way he dove out of the ring to keep Briscoe from getting to the last corner was brilliant.
  3. That bothers me as well. The most aerial move Young should have is a dropkick. He needs a lariat as a finisher and just be a brawler or a guy that works the mat. I love the character but he doesn't wrestle like his character.
  4. I completely agree with you. He could be doing so much more.
  5. Corbin is okay live. No personality at all though. I saw him wrestle Tyson Kidd in a good match and his match with Tyler Breeze was solid. I think he's okay when you're using him like that. If you're throwing out Corbin vs. Rhino is where you get into trouble.
  6. I liked his World Wide cage match with Magnum TA quite a bit.
  7. I've seen him sunset flip guys as Leon White in the AWA.
  8. Fan chants really grate in me. I was at NXT on Saturday and I had just had enough by the main event. You're getting into a match and the crowd starts chanting this is awesome. Why? Just enjoy the fucking match and shut up. It's like sitting in a crowd of seals doing tricks for fish.
  9. The Jumbo Tsuruta vs. Nick Bockwinkel matches. At least two of the matches. I liked the one where Jumbo won the AWA Title quite a bit. Felt suitably epic and a big deal that Jumbo won the belt. The rematch I didn't like as much. Terry Funk was really annoying as the guest referee in the second match. He stayed out of the way mostly in the first match but kept interjecting himself in the rematch. I also don't know what the fuck Joe Higuchi was doing during the rematch as well. Mil Mascaras vs. The Destroyer 10/9/73. I remember liking another of their matches more but this was really fun. The Destroyer really brings out the best in Mil. Giant Baba vs. The Sheik 4/28/73. I'm not a big fan of the Sheik but his stuff with Baba has been really fun. Baba not showing fear and using the Sheik's tactics against him is an enjoyable dynamic to watch.
  10. I use them for writing. A star rating is a good way to communicate where that match fits within a broader world of matches. U find a lot of times that guys that don't use them spend a lot of time talking about the pros and cons of a match but don't necessarily give you a perspective on how good the match actually is.
  11. Steamboat vs. Tenryu 2/23/84 This was okay. Didn't love it. Something didn't click here. I liked the mat work early on but the finishing stretch was kind of weak.
  12. Still watching All Japan Classics. Pat O'Connor and Ken Mantell vs. Jumbo Tsuruta and Akihisa Takachio 12/2/74 was highly entertaining. I liked the way O'Connor and Mantell just bullied the inexperienced Jumbo but gave him hope spots and comebacks at just the right time.
  13. Didn't he beat Meng with a jumping DDT when he won the U.S. Title?
  14. You should go regardless. I've gone to NXT twice this year and I hadn't seen live wrestling since 2008.
  15. I was at the NXT show as well. They really need to drop calling them divas. It doesn't fit with the presentation at all. Sasha and Charlotte was the best match by a mile on that show. Side note the spontaneous boxing match between Enzo and English was great stuff.
  16. On a scale of 0-10 I start thinking in the terms of a grading average. So a 5 is a failing grade and a 6 would be a D.
  17. I've seen Blake and Murphy live twice now and they just have no charisma. Okay inring but they bored the shit out of me both times.
  18. Decided to dig out my All Japan Classics discs. Watching the Baba/Destroyer 2 out of 3 falls match right now.
  19. Worldwide and Pro were syndicated. Do you would get those shows either on Saturday or Sunday. Saturday Night and Power Hour were two Saturday shows. So depending on your market you would get Power Hour, Worldwide, Pro and Saturday Night on Saturday and then get Main Event on Sunday.
  20. Main show was Saturday Night and then you had Worldwide, Pro, Main Event and Power Hour as B shows.
  21. Strictly inring on the professionalism part. Michaels throwing tantrums during matches and going into business for himself is what I'm talking about.
  22. I don't like him as Ashley Remington. There's something about that gimmick that holds him back in Chikara.
  23. I would get the Triple Crown unifications if I started in 1989? I really just want to go back far enough to have context for the new guys starting to push up to the top of the card.
  24. I voted Austin because I think Michaels lacks a certain believability due to his offense. I also hold his lack of professionalism against him. But I also just enjoy Austin's high end stuff more. The Hart matches, the Benoit matches, Three Stages of Hell, the tag against Benoit and Jericho, Dude Love, the Rock matches and even the Angle matches.
  25. I'm thinking about starting to get All Japan TV and watching it. Are the 80s worth the time or should I just pick up with 1990 and move forward?
