  1. So did we ever find out exactly what is going on with Nigel McGuiness/Desmond Wolfe? I was always a fan of his work in Ring of Honor, and while I don't care much for TNA, I was keeping up with his work there as well. Then all of a sudden they kayfabed that story about him playing soccer to cover up an injury or something, then they said he was coming back, then he never came back. So yeah, did I just miss something, or what?
  2. RoH has given up on Manassas now that they are running Richmond. Which is sad because the Manassas crowd was always hot, and was always completely full (except for the show they ran in the middle of the god damn blizzard) But they must have wanted a bigger crowd, so they moved to Richmond. I know they at least lost my group of four who went to every show. 90 minutes to Manassas was one thing, 3 hours to Richmond is another.
  3. Burchill was the newer pirate, and yet another guy that WWE dropped the ball on. So talented, but was never really given a chance to shine.
  4. 23 years, good lord, I remember watching it when I was 9! My biggest memory from the first one is Luger and Windham taking the tag team titles, as I was a huge Barry Windham fan back then! I think my favorite over all Clash memory is the Flair/Funk stuff from "New York Knockouts"
  5. Maybe someone can explain this to me. Does Kevin Dunn wield more power than we know about? I remember Triple H being high on Sheamus, and Sheamus being pushed to the moon. Now I hear that Dunn is down on Sheamus, and the guy is getting buried week in and week out. I actually think he has grown as a worker and is far better now than he was during his run as champion, so I just don't understand this current situation.

  7. I surely hope this doesn't lead to him getting overpaid for another boring overly long shoot interview.
  8. Posting these as a follow up to what Rovert posted.

  11. I think that's the whole problem right there, they don't have too. With absolutely zero build to pay per views, and name matches being given away every week on Raw and Smackdown, there is no mystery, there is no what if. They've seen it all. Furthermore, when we were kids we got to fantasize about if Hogan met Flair, or if the Road Warriors met Demolition. Now all of the "name" wrestlers are in the WWE, or have been in the WWE recently, and there are no dream matches left. I know some people may point to homegrown TNA talents like AJ Styles or the Machine Guns, or even a guy who came out of ROH like Samoa Joe as someone who hasn't worked with most of the WWE roster, but I think only a small percentage of the non-IWC fan base even knows what TNA is. I work at a high school and when I hear wrestling being spoken of, 99% of the time it is WWE. So when WWE doesn't consider them competition, and when the average fan doesn't know they exist, how can they fantasize about Wrestler X fighting Wrestler Y in a cross promotional battle. Unfortunately, I think it all leads back to lack of competition creatively killing the business.
  12. I was sitting 2nd row at the last show RoH did in Manassas, Virginia and the guy sitting one seat over in front of me was heckling Steen, and Steen responding by kissing him directly on the mouth. From my vantage point it looked pretty sloppy too. While my buddies and I thought it was hilarious, the guy seemed pretty shocked and repeated "I can't believe that" a few times. So, it wouldn't shock me if they were getting complaints about that.
  13. So if it wasn't Regal, do we know who the other person to get the text message was?
  14. I hope this is the right place for this, and if not, my apologies in advance. I was wondering if anyone knew the name of, or better yet, where I could find the piece of music that Crockett used for the opening of the commercial release of Crockett Cup 1987. It was also used as entrance music for The Road Warriors on Starrcade 1987's home video release. Thanks in advance for any help, and again, apologies if this is the wrong place to ask. This just seems to be a very knowledgeable board, so I figured it would be a great place to start looking!

  16. For my first post, and with the talk of kayfabe in this thread, I had to share a story..... Back in April I attended a show put on by an indy called Primal Conflict Wrestling in a town called Shenandoah Junction, West Virginia. It was a fairly good show for an indy I had never heard of with Kevin Thorn and Julio Dinero being the two biggest names. Anyway, before the show started I headed into the bathroom to take a piss. As I enter I immediately hear 3 people talking. There are two sitting in stalls that I can not see, and a man in a referee shirt standing at the urinal. I walk in, and right in the middle of a conversation the referee clears his throat and says KAYFABE really loudly. Immediately everyone in the bathroom shuts up and I have to take a piss without laughing. I have been a fan for nearly 25 years, and I am fairly certain that a 32 year old man witnessing wrestlers talking in a bathroom in back woods, small town, West Virginia isn't going to expose the business anymore than has already been done! Just had to share that story somewhere, and this seems like a pretty cool board, so ummm...Hello!
