  2. Being from the old school Gary Hart may think it's bad business for Hunter to be jobbing so frequently to much more inexperienced talent like Orton and Batista. That's the only reason I can think unless he was looking for a job in WWE.
  3. Agreed, but unfortunately I think we'll only get part 1 of the Chris Jericho story, as he's only planning on writing about his early career in wrestling from what I've heard. It's a smart decision by Jericho, because if he gave his honest opinions about Triple H he would probably burn his bridge with WWE.
  4. What, you don't watch WWE Heat online? Venis isn't in TNA yet, he's still in WWE and as of late has been tagging up with Viscera fairly regularly.
  5. Actually a good product doesn't allow Shawn Michaels to turn back babyface after his match with Hogan and then cut a shoot promo a day later bashing Hogan that flew over most fans heads. The most fun I've had all this year as an online fan is reading so many people saying Hogan should have put over Shawn when Shawn is 40, plays an ill fitting heartthrob gimmick, isn't really that over considering how hard he's pushed, won't work as a heel and doesn't put over properly the young wrestlers he feuds with. So what's the point, especially as most fans bought the show for nostalgia and so wanted to see Hogan Hulk up and win. Also if you protect Hogan you may get another one or two big buy rates out of him, whereas Shawn doesn't have any fresh or dream matches on the horizon that could draw.
  6. Genius: Saw that cable TV would allow him to take his regional promotion national and then went all out to ensure that it would be a success by carefully raiding other territories of their most marketable talent. Genius: Realised that he needed to change directions when he was losing the Monday Night Wars to a much more adult and risque product, which paid off huge in the short term. Genius: Turned the colourless "Mean" Mark Callous into The Undertaker, one of the most successful and long lasting gimmicks of all time. Idiot: Turning a blind eye to Mel Phillips and the other people involved in the notorious sex scandals. Idiot: Promoting a form of wrestling that on relied his talent having larger than life physiques. Idiot: WBF Idiot: Trying to exploit the Gulf War and terrorist beheadings in major angles. Idiot: Giving too much creative power to his inexperienced and naive daughter and his selfish son in law. Idiot: Asking Spike TV for huge hikes in rights fees for Raw earlier this year despite ratings dwindling in the last 5 years, resulting in Spike TV pulling out of negotiations early, costing the company tens of millions of dollars per annum and allowing TNA to get a national TV slot on a major network.
  7. I think Luger's hotness in 1997 was more about being in the right place, at the right time, than what he did as a performer. The nWo was booked as almost unstoppable, so when Luger, who was seen as a pretty big star due to his big pushes in the past, started to defeat Hogan again and again they really got behind him. The nWo was the really hot act, Luger was just along for the ride.
  8. They pretty much gave up on Smackdown about 21 months ago in my opinion.
  9. I don't think even the fans defending AJ over at DVDVR get it either, as I don't hear many of them criticising TNA for booking AJ to wrestle twice with that injury on Tuesday.
  10. Loss brings the wise words again. Of course TNA doesn't necessarily know what their talent does the rest of the month, but Jeff Jarrett damn sure knows what his talent does the 3 or 4 days they are in Orlando working for TNA. He'll know why the TNA locker-room has a rep for being a partying locker-room and he'll also happily employ known drug users who won't clean up their acts like Scott Hall and Jeff Hardy until they flake out on him, so TNA deserves some criticism for the drug problem within the industry as well.
  11. Like Eddie Guerrero was cleaned up? Just like Eddie had to take painkillers to continue wrestling with his broken down body, Chris Candido had to take painkillers in order to be able to work as a manager the day after his injury. I'm not saying that caused his death, but I think it's naive to believe that it wasn't at all possible that his heart and the rest of his body was so weakened and badly damaged by his years of steroid and painkiller abuse that it made it more likely that he would suffer a deadly blood clot after he broke his leg.
  12. Wade was silly to criticise Hayes himself for what he said, but Vince McMahon is known to send messages in his scripts to his talent and at a time when wrestlers have been complaining to Dave Meltzer among others about their schedules I doubt it's a coincidence that a member of management called today's wrestlers spoilt for wanting reduced schedules in an angle on Raw. Vince deserved criticising for that in my opinion, just like when Vince told Orton on Raw he looked anorexic after being unable to train due to being injured. Bruce Mitchell believes that Chris Candido's death may have been drug related (probably through his past abuse) because his autopsy was sealed at the request of his family, so we don't really know why Candido died. Anyway TNA deserved that swipe because they turned a blind eye to Curt Hennig's and Crash Holly's drug abuse before their deaths and employed Jeff Hardy who WWE fired after his drug problems and still employed him even after missing show after show after show.
  13. I've never been to a party where that's happened yet, but I must hang out with the wrong people or something.
  14. But won't most of their young target demographic be going out and getting drunk on New Year's Eve or is that just a British tradition? When I heard that TNA had a special on New Year's Eve my immediate reaction was who the hell is going to be around to watch that.
  15. I think there would be much more bitching about Dusty Rhodes hogging the spotlight and how he was undermining Flair with his booking than complaining about Flair keeping the belt for too long.
  16. I actually highly doubt it because Flair was God to the smarter fans of that era, because Flair was infinitely better on the mic, in angles and in the ring than Jarrett is today. Loss is right, Flair in 1986 is a very poor comparison to Jarrett, but there is someone who compares very favourably to him from that same era, namely Dusty Rhodes. Dusty arrogantly continued to book Jim Crockett Promotions around his tired, old act in the late 1980s despite fans turning on him and cheering the much cooler Ric Flair instead. The big difference between Jarrett and Dusty is that Dusty was a much bigger star and better talker than Jarrett will ever be, so he still had a few diehard supporters, whereas Jarrett just gets complete apathy or go away heat from the majority of his small fanbase and is thus a much bigger albatross to TNA than Dusty was to JCP.
  17. Jake Roberts, Junkyard Dog, Jimmy Snuka and Bam Bam Bigelow are other examples. Of course, it would be difficult to come up with anybody from the Monday Night Wars era where belts changed hands almost on a weekly basis.
  18. I can remember Kenzo and Hiroko Suzuki turning up at a PPV and they gave them the don't call us, we'll call you, polite blow off. I think Billy Kidman, Test and Shannon Moore have done the same thing, but haven't shown up on our screens just yet.

  21. No, not at all. He was actually saying "comme si comme sa" (spelling may be wrong), which in French means "sort of" or "so-so".I find it a bit irritating that WWE creative almost always have to find a way to squeeze in a gay joke into Cena's promos and segments. It's not hip or cool to be homophobic, but I doubt Vince and Stephanie understands that.
  22. What in particular did you find to be dishonest in the book? I agree that many of his accounts and opinions had to be taken with a pinch of salt, but more because of ignorance, being fed bad information and ranting without thinking than outright lying.
  23. That's an unfair comparison IMO as Shawn and Angle had 15 more minutes for their match, so it isn't surprising that they were able to pace their match better and didn't have to rush their spots like Rey and Eddie had to. Rey and Eddie's lengthier rematch on 6/23/05 edition of Smackdown compares very favourably IMO to Shawn and Angle's WrestleMania match, as it told a much deeper story than Shawn and Angle did at WM.
  24. I wonder if Hunter would let Smackdown have his match. You also forgot The Undertaker from your list. Actually an Elimination Chamber match for the title would probably be the best idea to draw a decent buy rate at the next Smackdown PPV if Batista is out for a long time, because tournaments to set up challengers were really overdone at the start of the year and have grown passe. I really think they could do a lot worse than put the title on Rey, because it would be something fresh and something people wouldn't expect, but I can't see it happening. Transferring Shawn or Edge over to Smackdown and giving them the title wouldn't be a bad idea, the former as it would create several fresh matches and the latter because he's more ready for a title run than any of the heels on Smackdown.
  25. I think that's a non factor, as Jeff is supposed to be giving the old sob story to the Carters about how he knew nothing about it and about how ashamed he was that his father could do such a thing and I think they believe him. Even if they don't trust Jeff he's still the third most powerful person in the company, so they need to try and keep him happy to maintain a good working relationship with him. I think Jeff will continue to be a headliner for the company until ratings and PPV buy rates stagnate with him on top.
