[1990-08-03-USWA Texas] Steve Austin vs Chris Adams ('Come As You Are')
shoe replied to Loss's topic in August 1990
Count this as my favorite match from Texas. The full speed bump Austin takes into the ring post is nuts. Just a super fun brawl.- 13 replies

A real good solid tag. The crowd goes nuts for Lawler. Jarrett was real good here mixing it up with good punches and good drop kicks. Falcone was solid, and having Gary Young is so much better than Torres. The dbl chains is 800 shades of awesome.

The 1st five minutes or so this feels like we are going no where. Then Eaton kicks it into high gear and just takes some insane bumps. He's taking so many insane bumps that he starts teasing taking even more insane bumps and you are waiting for him to take one. The finish didn't bother me too much because I was expecting a tennis racket for the DQ anyways. Eaton with some help from Pillman saved this.

Their is also a nice Bock vs. Manny Fernandez bout from Blanchard's fed. Actually Bix did a nice comp of Bock on tour.

I'm a big fan of the Starcade 88 show. Having 3 tag bouts to open the show is a bit strange, but they pretty much were forced to via booking. I liked the Windham/Bigelow bout. Though I can see people pov on not liking it, especially with that god awful finish. In regards to the Midnight's feud. It gets started with an incredible angle on the Saturday Night putting the OMX over as an invading faction who don't even work for the NWA. They leave Cornette all bloody in a white jacket, and destroy Stan and Bobby in the process. If you haven't seen it you should look for it on you tube. With this angle it would be hard to believe it was going to be a one off deal. Crockett had the same feeling about Rose as you did Parv. In 89 he books a loser of the fall leaves town with the intention of Rose leaving. Instead Condrey no shows, Victory is placed in the match and eats the fall because pinning Rose would be too obvious. Rose they keep on as a jobber for a year or 2.

This was tremendous. For me, it finally looks like Misawa is his own man. He isn't Tiger Mask anymore. That clothesline from Taue that Kikuchi ate made me grasp out loud. I totally loved (going racist here) the godzilla spots that Jumbo and Kikuchi did with one another was great. Kikuchi eats another nasty clothes line. The finish was great, and the crowd is going ape shit. Just an awesome match.

Watching Chris V.E is like watching Kerry's mini work. Having a V.E feuding with a manager just doesn't feel right. Austin was so big in his bumping.

I'm also enjoying the show and enjoy hearing your guys takes on the matches.

This was really great. They worked a great sprint, with a bunch of great near falls. Tito brought some great offense. Hennig bumped well and had real good timing on this.

I loved everything about this. It was super entertaining.

I thought this was solid. Crush was really bad here.

Great interview. Hogan is at his best in this feud. Tugboat is a chump though.
-
Rude was really good here, He has this major skill of making Warrior good. Still everything they tried to do with Rude it gets shit canned within seconds of this bout.
-
The LOD throughout their careers they are ass kickers. Having to play nice was totally out of character.
-
The ending of this segment was just great.

Pretty funny promo where Tatum brags about nailing fat Texas chicks. The only thing thing missing is the mopad and fat chick analogy here.

I'm marking out big for this program. Parson's has an edge of realism in this program. Jarrett shows a lot of fire and is willing to throw hands. Good stuff. I loved the Uncle Tom stuff.
