I thought it was early enough that the spot didn't take me out of the story.

I can buy into that argument. Like when he wrestled Omega I thought Kushida's selling hurt the match. Here I didn't think that at all because Liger went after the leg and the arm. So to me because Liger had a 2 pronged attack I thought Kushida was on point in his selling. Plus they kept it on the mat for the majority of the match that everything registered for me. I really didn't see much springboards. On a side note I didn't feel you were having a go. Judging matches is subjective.

2/25/16 PWX Chris Hero vs Cedric Alexander 4 1/4* Another Hero match. Dudes having a great year and Cedric has had a good one as well. These guys work the mat early. Hero escalates with the strikes. Cedric goes to that well too. I loved Cedric's dive because it came across like he was trying to hurt Hero. Alexander is a great babyface here. I thought the nearfalls escalated and the drama really built to a hot finish.

5/3/16 NJPW Kushida vs Jushin Liger 4 1/2* I loved this match, and it's the type of wrestling that really resonates with me. The crowd is pretty hot for this. They have the built in story of Kushida the Ace versus the all time legend of the division Liger. Kushida is after the arm which plays into his finisher. Liger is after the leg. Both guys are really selling here. That is where the drama is. They are making me care. Loved Kushida's counter to Liger's Kimura. Again the drama is set up by the selling and storytelling. Liger has compromised Kushida's leg and arm. The drama of Kushida escaping Liger's leg lock was off the charts. On top of all of this we build to a logical finish.

I thought Ishii's performance in the main event was his best performance this year. We really got a chance to look at one of his skills that makes him special and it's his selling. If Naito could have sold the leg more consciently I could see the match being a MOTYC. With that said even with Naito's new gimmick he still has a lot of the same flaws as a wrestler he had before the gimmick. Now the Kushida/Liger match is what I like about wrestling. Overall, I thought they put on a good show.

Rocky vs Gino Man alive I had a smile on my face the whole time this was going on. Gino was in full on stooge mode. Rocky was a total sports entertainer. This also reminded me of Memphis too. Gino was great escaping the punch. We see Gino just generating heat with looks and body language. Gino's stooge bump when Rocky missed him with the punch only to eat a dropkick is easily one of my favorites of all time. The biggest pops were when Rocky spanked Gino. This isn't a good match in the classic sense. For what they were going for it was. 3 1/4*

Plus the characters have gimmicks like in the 80's WWF so it's old school, but modernized and current.

I liked the match in the 3 1/2* range, I enjoyed his match with Evil. Though the matches with Shibata have been heralded as classics and I just don't see it. They seem to be trying to do this quasi it's fake, but we are real. Hansen , even Hero now does it better. Use big strikes and sell.

NJPW faithful seem to always love the show. That said I'll be watching it tomorrow. I haven't liked Ishii at all this year, but a lot of people have the exact opposite opinion . So I'm always curious. Kushida has had the best year in ring in NJPW and ROH from what I've seen , and I've seen everything on NJPW World and ROH.

I enjoy the show a lot. Though their is some weirdness to it. Like how the announcers don't know about the vignettes unless they are in the vignette

I gave it 4.5. Though the coin flip killed me.

It was really great, we could be in line for a classic at Extreme Rules. Fingers crossed. I totally agree. The chemistry is there.

5/1/16 WWE Roman Reigns vs AJ Styles 4 1/2* What can I say. Even with the McMahons and some overbooking. These guys overcame it and had a kick ass match. i knew Reigns was going over, but man was I buying all those near falls. Reigns selling of the leg was spot on. Reigns selling of AJ's big strikes was great. Both guys offense was super credible. We had some really great dives that meant something. Even the base of the match with AJ's leg kicks and the Calf Crusher set up a lot. AJ eating of all of Reign's offense was great. Man they built and built, and milked every ounce of drama down the stretch.

With the streaming services out there it's so easy to follow promotions in near real time. Their is a lot of fun wrestling out there.

On paper I thought this was going to be a train wreck. Atlas is an athletic guy who looks like a million bucks. Yet usually needs a ring general to bring him up a level. I though with working with a luchdor might mean train wreck city. I was pleasently surprised. They told a pretty good story with Marcus being really focused on the back. Atlas selling it, but lacking the gravitas that the great sellers give you. I also enjoyed Marcus using the loaded mask. I've got to give Marcus a lot of credit by keeping the story simple and easy to follow. I'm a story telling guy so this match checked that box.
