  2. Backlund-Race is apparently available on WWE.com...saw this on Crazymax and a few other boards now: http://www.crazymax.org/index.php?showtopic=21553
  3. That was my first thought, that it was related to Garvin and the foot licker.
  4. This sort of encapsulates the apathy towards WM this year, IMO. As big a fan as you are, your main watching point (if you were going to buy it) would be for someone that was awesome in our younger days over anything currently being presented.
  5. Ross should just go the route of other media and pre-prepare death writings for former stars. It would allow for a better, more fact-based portrait of their lives. Of course that would mean that they actually gave a rat's rear when these guys die, and I have my doubts that the majority of these sorts of writings are done at any sort of personal level. The thought process in JR preparing this is probably more along the lines of "Shit, so-and-so died, now I have to delay my blog on kfc's new partnership with Wrestlemania XV for another week. Dammit!"
  6. It's one that certainly can be. WCW did so many stupid things in it's time that the story sort of writes itself, from a WWE-produced DVD perspective at least.
  7. "If it'd been me playing Randy the Ram, I'da won that Oscar, brotha."
  8. The only thing I can think of that could make that bit remotely close to true would be someone like Abdullah, when he was wrestling regularly, IF you count each time he took the blade to his head trying to open himself up. He would go palm-to-forhead after every punch his opponent threw. I remember a couple of Brody bouts where this was particularly noticable. (Can you imagine having a blade taped in the palm of your hand? That's nuts, IMO..you forget it's there and you cut yourself, your opponent, and anyone that wants to shake hands...) From what I saw, he would blade himself dozens of times in a single match. He probably had no choice because it would have taken several cuts to get through all that scar tissue. So 25-30 shots with the blade in a single week, in Abby's case, when he was wrestling regularly, is probably correct and even a bit on the low end. Overall, this is an epic LOL just designed to throw it out there that he wants his life story done in movie form. Good luck with that one, hulkie...
  9. Doesn't matter if he's in shape for wrestling or not. That can't be a consideration with Rourke out there as a possible. Rourke in the best shape of his life is still Mickey Rourke, actor. Austin even in half-shape is an ex-superstar wrestler who pulls out three or four familiar spots and everyone is happy. Having Rourke in any capacity aside from a cornerman for another actual wrestler makes no sense. Too many things can go wrong with Rourke actually in the ring.
  10. Plus you can bring him back a couple of years after retirement to "Defend the record" against some young upstart.
  11. That, and I doubt Verne is actually "rich-rich" at this stage... in fact, I would bet he was living a very average life before he needed Elder Care. He lost almost everything if not everything just trying to keep the AWA afloat near the end, and that was 20 years ago. All the property he had and everything else is gone now. I don't think he has done anything since 1991 that would put money back in his pocket to the degree he would be considered "rich" again. I would guess that it's probably costing his family a ton of their own scratch to provide that sort of care. I have always doubted the $3 million figure that he allegedly got for the sale of his tape library to Vince, too, for those about to point at that. I don't think it was anywhere near that high of a price tag.

  13. No way. Tell me you made that up. **stifiling laughter waiting for a reply**
  14. Yeah, after WM it wasn't like anyone saw the lead-in for any of the WWF shows then and went "oooo, Danny Davis!" when they said a match of his was coming up. ...at least I assume this to be true......
  15. Graham's site says that Steele beat Davis by countout the month before. Davis probably ran away and the cage rematch was born out of that. No real history between the two that I can remember.
  16. The one that always makes me shake my head from that card was Rude losing to Allen. Rude was new to the area IIRC...seemed like a weird job to make him do.
  17. New sig, thanks. Very apt in my mind and I haven't even seen the movie yet.
  18. The WWE crackdown on pot smoking will lead to more pill/booze usage amongst the wrestlers...and at least two DUI incidents. One will happen to a wrestler in the middle of a big push.

  20. World Pro dedicated a full show to matches from this card. Dan Ginnetty put out a nice VQ version on his World pro set a few years back. previously only a shitty vhs copy was available. In terms of what is shown, it had the Battleroyal, LOD vs. Lawler/Raschke, Flair vs. Race, Martel vs. Garvin, and I think the Koloffs vs. Keirn/Valiant. I don't think they were all complete but how much was removed from each match I'm not sure off the top of my head. Other matches from the those PW USA cards showed up on World Pro over the years but no full cards, matches like Martel vs. Bockwinkel and LOD vs. Freebirds (from the Meadowlands).
