RE: Goldberg. Really wish they'd gone with the idea of having Arn be his manager.

The Limp Bizkit ("WWE's favorite band!") theme music didn't help him much either. -

Is TNA the worst wrestling promotion in history?
flyonthewall2983 replied to Loss's topic in Megathread archive
Well, someone should do it with the "TNA Wrestling" tag at the end. -

I bet you could do hundreds if not thousands of those. -
Is TNA the worst wrestling promotion in history?

I'm just awestruck at how they are still open. -
I never liked Bret's mic work. He's a very intelligent guy but somehow his promos could come off sounding pretty dumb. EDIT: Except in '97. The heel stuff he did was terrific.

I just hope he's getting the help he's needed for years on this, especially after Reid. I can see how it's financially driven but I hope it's much more than that, because the elephant in the room has pretty much squeezed everyone against the wall by now.

I like Stephanie's notes. Makes more sense than the other ones.

Mick pulling off his multiple gimmicks was a pretty neat thing I don't think anyone else has done before or since. The only downside I can think of is that it almost made having multiple personalities a gimmick in and of itself, though it never went to Flair-in-an-asylum levels. Those chair shots in the "I Quit" match are all the more disturbing to watch now because of the awareness raised of head injuries. Funnily enough, Mick said on his Twitter last night that he just watched the PBS documentary on the NFL and gave Chris Nowinski his kudos for his continued work into these issues.

I could literally watch Randy Orton get kicked in the head all day. Thank you. -
It was mentioned in another thread that I'd love to see Gary Oldman do Vince McMahon, but someone else had the idea of Michael Shannon which I think would be as good a choice. Both would, actually. Michael as the young determined promoter draining territories of talent, and Gary as Mr. McMahon.

Wasn't he locked into his contract, which meant it would have been hard for him to leave?

[1990-01-06-WWF-Superstars] Rick Martel and Brutus Beefcake

Didn't Rick break out the Insp. Gadget ensemble again in '92 for the pointless Shawn Michaels feud?- 24 replies

Yeah, but I wonder if he would have been legit pissed at Vince & co. for it, and decided to make the Loose Cannon a shoot.
-
I always wonder how he would have reacted to the Montreal incident since he was clearly a Hart guy.

I've always imagined that Gene Hackman could have done Harley Race.

I got something similar from WWF magazine in 1996. I don't remember if they were that much, but one day in the mail I got a catalog featuring all of their VHS titles for some reason. Weird thing is is that the subscription stopped a few years earlier. To bring this back on topic Burt's got stories for days in these.

[1992-12-19-WWF-Superstars] Merry Christmas from the Bushwhackers
flyonthewall2983 replied to Loss's topic in December 1992
Someone please tell me there's a "wrestlers hawking merchandise" comp. I'd buy it for the lulz but mostly I'd get a bit of a sentimental buzz, reliving the glory of Dusty Rhodes telling me the virtues of the Ultimate Warrior "suck cup". -
The boxing match with Mr. T was one of the worst things ever done in a wrestling ring, but Piper's promo on the Coliseum tape is probably one of my favorite-ever promos. I agree that a Roddy/Shawn feud would have been good business in '92. I seem to recall them having a match right before VIII. Kind of sucks that he left right after WM that year, he could have helped things go along more smoothly after Hogan left.

I'd started reading the Apter mags a few months before this, had a little sense of who he was, but this was the first time I'd seen him on television. -
[1997-11-24-WWF-Raw] DX, 'Bret Hart' and Jim Neidhart

All I really remember about this is how stiff that low blow Chyna delivered to Neidhart looked.
