Jake getting bit by the snake was an apt finish for this period of his career. And Sting swinging around the pole was pretty awesome. If there's a gif of that somewhere, I'd love to see it.

[1992-10-12-WWF-Saskatoon, SAS] Ric Flair vs Bret Hart
flyonthewall2983 replied to Loss's topic in October 1992
But they did have one go for 75, right? Or am I just making this up? -
WWE Network finally happening
flyonthewall2983 replied to flyonthewall2983's topic in Megathread archive
They're probably in a better position now, as opposed to ten years ago, considering there's a more vast library of material they now own. Dipping their toes in the water with the On Demand service and the internet archive wasn't a bad idea either. My hope is that it's a premium channel, without commercial interruption. Otherwise, things like the PPV's would take up a huge chunk of the schedule. -
I take it everyone's seen the clip on RAW. I'm excited about the prospect, but a little skeptical as well. Thoughts?

[1992-07-18-WWF-Superstars] Razor Ramon vignette
flyonthewall2983 replied to Loss's topic in July 1992
I'm amazed it took me however long it was between the first time I watched DePalma's Scarface and the time I saw Scott Hall's shoot that I didn't put 2 and 2 together, that Razor's character was largely taken from Tony Montana.- 10 replies

[1992-07-18-WWF-Superstars] Update: Summerslam hype

'94 was the last year they used the Chicago/Def Leppard hybrid. -
WWE advertising The Rock's in-ring return for Survivor Series
flyonthewall2983 replied to Bix's topic in Pro Wrestling
I think he should have at least a couple of matches before Miami, to get rid of any ring rust he can. -
Hogan coming out got a big pop, but I don't think that was reciprocated when he was thrown out. I'm sure the match played better on PPV than in the arena, because 50% of the energy was coming from Bobby Heenan. I'm unsure if Flair was the household name in New York state that Vince's other guys at the time were.

[1992-06-27-WWF-Superstars] Legion of Doom and Rocco

This would have made perfect sense in the Attitude era, when guys had fucking plastic heads and mops as mascots. -
When was Ric Flair at his most evil?
flyonthewall2983 replied to JerryvonKramer's topic in Pro Wrestling
You answered your own question. It didn't last too long because the NWO took all the heat for themselves soon after this period. -
The poor sportsmanship of Hulk Hogan

Back to Hogan, but where would his antics during the Dibiase/Savage match from WM IV rank? -
The poor sportsmanship of Hulk Hogan

Jericho putting her in his finisher pissed me off way more. Granted I was younger at the time, and way more sensitive to man-on-woman violence. I still am to some degree. When I saw the Austin thing I kinda rolled my eyes at it, but didn't get too pissy about it. Mostly because it looks so easy to take, whereas a boston crab would involve some degree of pain, unless she's really flexible...I should probably stop talking before this gets too NSFW. -
[1992-08-29-WWF-Summerslam] Randy Savage vs Ultimate Warrior

Ric was probably just coming off the inner-ear infection that took him out for most of the summer. -
[1992-02-01-WWF-Superstars] Funeral Parlor: Sensational Sherri
flyonthewall2983 replied to Loss's topic in February 1992
It makes the most sense to me, looking back. Shawn was a decent heel on the mic right off the bat, so a manager wouldn't have seemed necessary. Shawn said she was pretty helpful and would often do a real number on job guys who wouldn't sell for him lol. Pairing him with a hulking bodyguard, like they did a year later, was perfect for the character however. It served two purposes, to strengthen his heel persona and put someone as green as Kevin was at the time with someone who was already as in tune with the craft of it as he was. -
[1992-10-12-WWF-Saskatoon, SAS] Ric Flair vs Bret Hart
flyonthewall2983 replied to Loss's topic in October 1992
Didn't they go 75 minutes in Boston? -
This is totally subjective, but for me it's Montreal. Plain and simple. Nothing to do with Shawn or Bret, but just what Vince did. I've heard all the theories, arguments, half-truths and conjecture but to me it boils down to one thing. He pulled the curtain back for good. He tore it from the ceiling and set the fucker on fire.

[1992-09-19-WWF-Superstars] Randy Savage and Ultimate Warrior

The red and yellow didn't help much either. -
Probably. The best thing about Cody is that he doesn't have to live in his father's shadow as much as Dustin did, and that hopefully he can learn from both their mistakes. Back to Flair, whatever he's gone through doesn't compare to some other people but it's still a shame to see he can't separate himself from the persona that made him and his family rather well-off.

[1992-04-05-WWF-Wrestlemania VIII] Interview: Lex Luger
flyonthewall2983 replied to Loss's topic in April 1992
Probably not. Luger said in his shoot his WCW contact stipulated he wouldn't be able to wrestle anywhere else for the rest of the year. If true, it was likely common knowledge among the boys. -
Tony Schiavone and early 90s WCW announcing

As someone who occasionally finds humor in the misfortune of others, I find no problem in this. -
Exactly, and it didn't help that it directly followed an awesome Orton/Christian match.

The only time I ever noticed the belt and thought it odd in the circumstances you speak of was during the Benoit DVD when he took it with him to the Hart household and other places.

I swear I saw Pat Robertson's network do the serious version of that article around a decade ago. -

Does anyone listen to Schiovane as a baseball announcer now, and if so does he manage to use any "Tony-ism's" as related to the game?
