  1. Their Royal Rumble match was like watching a train wreck in slow motion.
  2. No, but I'm betting they must be courting the Bon Jovi camp hard. I wish I were joking.
  3. I could be out of turn on this but Bagwell's a guy WWE could have picked up in the mid-90's, and probably would have had a good run, maybe even working to this day with them (maybe). But from the first time I saw him on Raw during the Invasion angle, I knew he'd be gone as soon as the next commercial break ended. He struck me as having a really swollen head from the push he'd gotten once he joined the NWO. I've said this before, but my theory is that if WWE was Prohibition during the steroid controversies of the 90's, WCW must have been the equivalent of the swankiest speakeasy in the South. They would never have as thorough a drug policy, because all one had to do is point out how much drug abuse was possibly going on in the Atlanta Falcons, Braves, and their NBA team. Add that to the massive paychecks and easier schedules, it's a wonder more people didn't defect.
  4. People who chant Cena sucks are just Austin marks who wishes he drank beer and cursed more often.
  5. Is it bad that I'm just happy Vince Russo might be out of a job?
  6. He gave us possibly the greatest heel turn ever and the greatest "fuck you" to the fans ever with that promo. All in the same night.
  7. That it is. And just for the sake of building up Miami, I hope Cena destroys Kane.
  8. I've only seen pictures, but is there any Flair/Andre matches on tape?
  9. I liked that feud as something to keep the fans from scratching their heads wondering why he wasn't the champ at this point. And for a big guy, Tenta could cut a good promo that made you believe he would send you to the hospital or worse. It wasn't anything original as they'd done the David/Goliath thing with Bundy and Andre before, but this was the first time they'd taken him out of action because of the program, and that raised the stakes higher for that SummerSlam match. It's what I honestly wish they would have done with Cena during the Nexus angle where he was "fired". Keep him away for several months and build up to the big fight at WM.
  10. I wish I could re-name the subtitle to the thread "2012-ish"
  11. Oh yeah, that's where he came in through the door instead of the garage. Very cute.
  12. That would have been awesome for that year's Survivor Series, ending the series at MSG.
  13. I hated that Vader was canned right around this time. Him having programs with the likes of Tenta, Haku and a young Paul Wight would have been amazing.
  14. Makes sense, although a longer-term Davey/Lex feud would have had some great potential, and could have revitalized Lex's stock with the company.
  15. Okay, so was there a tease to a Luger/Davey Boy feud as a result? I gotta admit I tuned out of WWF programming around this time and wasn't aware of the particulars. Also, did Davey's haircut come later?
  16. Was that the last time Luger's name was mentioned on WWF TV until his famous defection?
  17. Agreed with the setting. The idea to put KOTR between WM and SummerSlam was a good one until every other month was filled with something.
  18. Can't believe you didn't include Arn Anderson/Alex Wright from Slamboree of that year. Probably the single best finish I've seen.
  19. He (and to a lesser degree Martel lost to the Brain Busters at V.
  20. The one with Warrior about smoking (with what I thought looked at the time like french fries for some reason) is the winner.
  21. Sweet! Are they all converted to DVD or Blu-Ray now?
  22. Is this just a term used by smart fans or is it backstage lingo as well?
  23. A run with The Undertaker would have been so much better for all involved, least of which those of us who had to put up with watching Taker work his way around Jorge that year.
  24. Warrior as a ref would have been funny.
  25. Bret's said in his book and elsewhere that he thought the meeting where they told him Flair was going to job to him they were going to sack him, so he definitely must have felt in limbo at least. A Santana reign would have been interesting, if one could see it as a response to Ron Simmons winning the belt in WCW.
