  1. When WCW was bought out, I quickly realized that the fun of watching it was soon to end and that we would be stuck with the company I hated for much of '96 and after Bret left (actually liked the Bret heel turn enough to be interested in WWE again). I wouldn't describe that period as a breaking point, but during the Attitude era there were plenty of things that happened that turned me off, mostly the stupid lowest-common denominator stuff that was done to please the bone-heads in the audience. WCW wasn't much better then at all frankly, but I thought with the right people on board it would turn itself around. History ended up proving me wrong. I was already kinda out when the Benoit thing happened, to the point where it could be easily said I was watching more wrestling on CNN and MSNBC than on USA or Spike. It pushed a lot of personal buttons and feelings towards domestic violence and such, to the point where I just stopped reading the boards and the news and put on my DVD copy of The Big Lebowski to just have a fucking laugh at something.
  2. I suspect that's the plan.
  3. I predict that's what'll happen, for probably the next two and then he'll quietly retire. It's just too bad he didn't stick with the biker gimmick, as it could have allowed him a proper send-off.
  4. Performing once a year doesn't exactly mean you're a road dog, but you're bang on with everything else. Whoever brought up the idea of Cena breaking the streak being the beginning of his heel run would be an excellent idea.
  5. Probably, but as someone with a pessimistic view on the current product, it's fun to think about. What was this in relation to?
  6. And Punk needs to look bulletproof.
  7. Someone please tell me why they possibly aren't going with this where I think it's going, and this just being another case of WWE's serial star-fucking.
  8. The brutality of Nickelback would overwhelm the HIAC concept. HIAFS
  9. Not sure I like where this is going.
  10. I'm guessing it'll be hanging over the lighting rig above the ring. I'm hoping they'll go old school and construct it before the match (ostensibly while something else is going on, musical act or something). I'm going to be there and without giving too much away, I think I might be coming back with quite a story to tell...
  11. I haven't seen it, but that's my guess. And as far as I'm concerned, they needed to. You can't have that stuff entwined with an angle as big as the one he's been having with Rock. From the sound of it, it sounds pretty tame compared to some of the things aimed at women during the Attitude era, which went far enough to make me beyond uneasy. Unless this becomes part of the shtick, I don't see getting too riled up about it. I just don't like the possibility that they are doing this to appease the "Cena Sucks" assholes. Unless...this is the subtle beginning of a heel turn.
  12. That PBS special on Clinton I DVR'd better be a damned sight better than this
  13. Of all the fates that karma could bring upon him, that would be pretty weak. Nothing less than something out of The Girl With The Dragon Tattoo would come pretty close.
  14. He looks better bald, but I prefer the earlier version.
  15. Awesome except one thing comes to mind when I think of curb-stomping. American History X
  16. I didn't mind them using 40 guys last year, but I agree it's good they've gone back to 30. It's the one WWE match I can watch with some of the awe and wonder I had as a little mark. Kofi doing handstands was a genuine mark-out moment for me.
  17. This year it looks like it's setting the "c" main event.
  18. Football players don't play in their underwear.
  19. Rain is the least of their worries. Can you imagine watching them perform in 40-50 degree weather?
  20. Their Royal Rumble match was like watching a train wreck in slow motion.
  21. No, but I'm betting they must be courting the Bon Jovi camp hard. I wish I were joking.
  22. I could be out of turn on this but Bagwell's a guy WWE could have picked up in the mid-90's, and probably would have had a good run, maybe even working to this day with them (maybe). But from the first time I saw him on Raw during the Invasion angle, I knew he'd be gone as soon as the next commercial break ended. He struck me as having a really swollen head from the push he'd gotten once he joined the NWO. I've said this before, but my theory is that if WWE was Prohibition during the steroid controversies of the 90's, WCW must have been the equivalent of the swankiest speakeasy in the South. They would never have as thorough a drug policy, because all one had to do is point out how much drug abuse was possibly going on in the Atlanta Falcons, Braves, and their NBA team. Add that to the massive paychecks and easier schedules, it's a wonder more people didn't defect.
  23. People who chant Cena sucks are just Austin marks who wishes he drank beer and cursed more often.
