How is the Network going to affect WWE Home Video?

They do run quite cheap on Amazon, even out of print stuff. -
How Unique was the Royal Rumble? And Does it Still Work?
flyonthewall2983 replied to Kronos's topic in Pro Wrestling
One difference between now and then I like is that they're vague about who's in, where before every week on Superstars or Challenge (later Raw) they'd announce several of the entrants leading up to right before the show. The way it's done now allows for more surprises, again where before sometimes they'd announce people who'd wind up no-showing for whatever reason. -

Plus a lot of the ones that are over 3 hours (and with WrestleMania, that's a lot) they are two-sided discs which aren't too fun to mess around with. -
Watching a Best of Raw from April '99 and Cornette is doing commentary instead of Lawler. I forget, is that when he was filming Man On The Moon?

Would love to see Liev Schreiber do something for WWE.

Pre WM 25, was Taker in any matches on Mania that could be called classics? Oh, maybe the Batista match (23?), but I haven't seen it in awhile. What's amazing is that Taker stepped up his game in these physical matches at this later stage of his career, when before he was never really part of anything that underlined his athletic ability. Hell, if you think about it the only legendary match he was part of at all in the 90's was the one where Mick flew off the cage.

Comments that don't warrant a thread - Part 3

He should have done something like this in the 90's with ECW fans. I would have loved to seen that. This, not so much. -
What else does he do?

I guess that is making this the Jake Roberts Show then for me.

How Unique was the Royal Rumble? And Does it Still Work?

Every so often I get excited to watch the new ones. There have been some good ones in the last ten years. The one in 2007 with Undertaker and Shawn at the end, and the one where the ring filled up with guys who just refused to be thrown out. The concept match that will probably never come back is War Games, and with good reason. It's a pretty stale concept compared to the Rumble and Survivor Series. All the great War Games matches and ones that I have seen were all designed to keep the babyfaces in peril, which lead to the top guy coming in last which lead to The Match Beyond. -
Would be great if the crowd threw in the "What?" chant too, since he genuinely hates that.

Paul Wight's on today. Some good stories, and they have a great rapport together.

Are they going to announce more?
-
I've seen Kerwin in a few documentaries, specifically the Curt Hennig one where they talk about the outtakes from his spots where he shows his supposed "perfection" at other sports. Funny stuff. I just think it's odd and almost bordering on cold that the announcers never did it on the level WCW did. Unless it was part of an angle or something truly unpredictable like the heart attack.
-
What's really weird is that they were in Memphis, where you'd probably expect that sort of interview to take place in L.A.
-
I mentioned this in another thread, but one difference I notice is when WCW announcers would give credit to cameramen like Jackie Crockett, and WWF almost never would acknowledge their technical crew (unless it was part of an angle). The only time I can think of is when Bobby Heenan praised the camera work at the Royal Rumble '92. This still seems to go on.

What if, Randy Savage joined the WWF in 1996?
flyonthewall2983 replied to Grimmas's topic in Armchair Booking
The way Randy could have maintained heat during the build-up to WM would have been to have some friction between him and Austin. After Mania, there's a four-way feud going with Bret, Steve, Randy and Shawn. Hell, I could see Randy eventually aligning himself with McMahon in '98 after his heel turn. Randy and Steve in '98 would have been pure money. -
Mick Foley said he'll be on the show next Wednesday.
-
Someone is going to use that line eventually.

Not at all. I don't know if they do it every year but they should. I missed the segment, is it just going to be for New Orleans or is it going to be an annual thing?
-
He put over Mark Henry too right?
-
Someone on Twitter tonight said he could return to WrestleMania, and compete in the Andre The Giant Battle Royal as Pepsi Machine.

To be honest I think Buff's not doing too bad either. Did you see his rates? -
I don't watch the show, but I imagine (unlike the Vick angle) that there is a point and a reason for it on the show.
