I like HBK totally no selling the attack and gets right up.

On one hand, I feel bad for Funk having to do these matches after watching all those All Japan matches from the 80's. On the other hand after reading his book, He seemed to enjoy these and I really want to see Funk/Onita. Pogo's sickle still scares me to this day. Good match that had some nice visuals.

Great match but this was tough to watch. Both women were great and the spots meant something. Best thing though was the aftermath with Onita doing a oscar nominated performances. Seriously, he might be the best actor in wrestling showing emotion.

Taz burying Devon Storm for watching Sabu Tapes was funny. I think Patricia was with Meanie and Jeff Jarrett in Memphis at the same time.

Yeah this felt like a squash match. Reminded me of Hogan no selling Vader's offense.

[1996-04-29-NJPW-Battle Formation] Genichiro Tenryu vs Tatsumi Fujinami
Tim Evans replied to Loss's topic in April 1996
Did Fujinami break his nose or something? That was a ton of blood. This show almost looked like a FMW show or something. Good match and they beat the crap out of each other. Need to watch it again to fully appreciate it I think.- 14 replies

[1996-04-29-NJPW-Battle Formation] Great Muta vs Jinsei Shinzaki
Tim Evans replied to Loss's topic in April 1996
This was a good match with Shinzaki hitting a gusher. It's a shame the camera man missed his bump over the guard rail pretty much. Muta just looked evil during this match. -
[1996-04-27-WCW-Saturday Night] Steven Regal vs Fit Finlay
Tim Evans replied to Loss's topic in April 1996
Good match although not as good as the ppv match. I loved Dusty marking out for these guys. How many TV matches have they had together?- 7 replies

[1996-04-29-NJPW-Battle Formation] Jushin Liger vs Great Sasuke
Tim Evans replied to Loss's topic in April 1996
I think the match peaked when Sasuke did the dive about 15 seconds into the match. It wasn't horrible but it also wasn't very exciting. -
[1996-04-26-RINGS] Tsuyoshi Kohsaka vs Yoshihisa Yamamoto
Tim Evans replied to Loss's topic in April 1996
Having never seen RINGS before, this was a good introduction. A lot faster pace than I thought it would be. Seemed like a squash match more than anything but had some nice mat work.- 11 replies

Comments that don't warrant a thread 2010-2011
Tim Evans replied to Loss's topic in Megathread archive
If they ran more, the number 3 promotion would probably be DTU. They get some pretty good crowds and sometimes way better than IWRG. -
I liked D-Von for his crazy overselling of New Jack moves and I thought he had good chemistry with Bubba. Plus he was a way better dudley than Chubby, DW and even Dudley Dudley.

Was JT in the FBI when Smothers joined or had he left by then? JT is really a underrated funny guy.

[1996-04-20-ECW-Hostile City Showdown] Raven vs Shane Douglas
Tim Evans replied to Loss's topic in April 1996
Man Shane Douglas matches haven't aged well at all. This was pretty bad but I guess it made sense being on here thanks to the angle. Raven took a pretty sick bump to the outside that had to hurt. -
[1996-04-20-ECW-Hostile City Showdown] Sabu vs Rob Van Dam
Tim Evans replied to Loss's topic in April 1996
I've seen all the other RVD/Sabu matches except for this one. Good match and like Loss said, a total spotfest. The ending is probably the most important part. -
Randy Hales is the ultimate dorky authority figure. I thought Announcer Vince was bad but he doesn't hold a candle to Randy. This was awesome and Dundee was very underrated in 96. It was probably his best year since at least 86.

Wow this was the definition over overkill wrestling. No way should it have been that long as by the end it was just hitting big moves just to kickout about thousand times. While I respect what they did and the match featured some nice moves, I didn't think much of the match.

Well that's the Konnan effect with all the chairs. He basically killed AAA for years cause of the hardcore shit. This was a ok match and I liked how the basically spoke English throughout. Was this around the time where Ultimo Dragon jumped from CMLL to AAA?

[1996-04-19-ECW-Plymouth Meeting, PA] Sabu vs 2 Cold Scorpio
Tim Evans replied to Loss's topic in April 1996
The thing I get out of these Fancam matches is how great the heels work the crowd. Scorpio is great at it as I like how he warned the crowd ahead of time that they were going all over the building. The table spots were good cause the crowd kept chanting but they didn't go for it right away. Good match that was different from the only other Sabu/2 Cold match I've seen(Cyberslam). -
I was really impressed with Gary Albright here. Haven't seen much of him but the guy is just huge and throwing guys like nobody's business. The match was fine and Kawada was awesome at being a dick.

Well it would help if they didn't wrestle and be exposed as being horrible. I think they learned with Maryse. This video brought back memories. I think I recorded it and rewinded it 100 times back when it originally aired.

[1996-04-13-ECW-Massacre on Queens Boulevard] Sabu vs Mikey Whipwreck
Tim Evans replied to Loss's topic in April 1996
Typical Sabu match with a lot of spots and Sabu crashing and sometimes failing. The dive through the table in the stands was brutal. Was this before or after Sabu and Mikey formed a team? -
[1996-04-12-ECW-Glenolden, PA] Bubba Ray Dudley vs 2 Cold Scorpio
Tim Evans replied to Loss's topic in April 1996
Yeah I gotta agree with you guys. This was something like you would see in late 80's Memphis. As great as Scorpio was, Bubba really held it together. I love how he gets attacked and when he goes to cuss, he stays in character. Really a fun match and I'm glad it's on the set. -
My opinion might not count as much since I haven't seen much Joshi but so far, Toyota has been the one that actually stands out. She was the best thing about this match and seemed to be the only one that was actually giving effort. Aja looked like she would rather be anywhere else and no sell almost everything. Oh well, It was a good match and Shimoda sure has aged well. She's still stinking up women's matches in CMLL although it's not her fault.

[1996-04-06-WWF-Superstars] Jerry Lawler vs Greg Davis
Tim Evans replied to Loss's topic in April 1996
I liked how he gave the jobber some offense before he put him in the piledriver. And I think that was the same outfit he wore tonight on Raw. Lawler did a version of this match in Memphis that was really great. I think it was against Tony Myers.
