Fujiwara was just awesome in this with his slaps and mat work. He's usually great but sometimes he seems to be content in taking a beating and hiding in the corner. Here he just slaps Kakihara in the face and beats him up. Great match and a MOTYC for sure.

Kind of a sad way for the Cyberpunk angle to end but the brawl was great. Lawler and Dundee might be the MVPs of 96 so far.

I've never seen this match before so it was a gem to see. I agree that Bulldog was a little off but he still took some big bumps and Shawn held his own. Shawn getting the upper hand on both Owen and the Bulldog for what seemed to be 5 minutes before Ahmed ran in was a little weird. Like I said in the other thread. Owen was great at commentary. Even though he was a heel, he seemed fair to all sides. Even HBK.

Speaking of Global, the USWA vs Fake GWF feud should be represented on the set. Basically Eddie left the real Global and brought the belt and several guys with him. You had Mike Samples doing his best Vince impersonation as the figure head of GWF with Bert Prentice and heel Guy Coffey feuding with Eddie Marlin, Jerry Lawler and Jeff Jarrett. It also featured Number 1 contender for the USWA Championship from Global: Marty Janetty despite the fact he never wrestled in GWF Some other stuff from USWA. Brian Christopher's heel turn along with his music video reviewed in the Memphis Studio by Pauly Shore himself. Probably the greatest angle ever took place in December with Brian hiring/firing Mike Samples, Bert Prentice and Zeke Rivers in about a span of 5 minutes cause they won't put up their hair vs Jeff Jarrett. Eric Embry's women hating angle. I don't know if you would want to include this because it might be too much but I'll mention it anyways. Embry was feuding with Dirty White boy so after a squash match, he handcuffs DWB and then strips and whips the Dirty White girl. He also did the same thing with Miss Texas a couple months later which featured maybe the first topless woman in Memphis wrestling history. Jimmy Hart's one time only return to the USWA in 92 to manage The Howard Hughes connection( Mr. Hughes and Jeff Gaylord) He cut a great 10 + minute promo just burying Memphis and Jerry Lawler in particular. This started the whole WWF invasion with guys like Sgt. Slaughter, Hacksaw Jim Duggan and the Bushwackers coming in to team with the babyfaces. Bushwackers vs Moondogs has to be seen. Dennis Corralluzzo's short run vs Jerry Lawler. He represents Andy Kaufman's estate, Kamala and Jerry's "illegitimate Kids" that turns out to be Fred the Elephant boy from the Stern show. Eric Embry's babyface turn with the Battery Acid thrown in his eyes vs The Moondogs. USWA had a great Eddie Gilbert vs Ricky Morton match from July 11th 92 that might be a MOTYC. Then you had the wrestlecrap like: Embry's Valet CJ(that wound up suing USWA for Sexual Harassment), The Fat Boys, Dr. Death and Nurse Kratchett, Lauren Davenport's 2 Men of the 90's(Tony Falk and some other guy), The Star Riders, The Dream Warriors( They are like Metal Ed where they had a interview taped but never showed up cause they bombed), Psycho, Corey Maclin getting beat up by a girl, The American Eagles, WCW's Patriots as heels managed by Bert Prentice, Brian Christopher vs Danny Davis: Loser has eggs thrown at them match, The King Killer, The Tazmaniac(Yes that Taz), Fabulous Fargos Jr, The Hornet( Takeoff of Sting) and much more.

Besides Savage and Flair, Mero was the best part of early 96 WCW. Especially his feud with DDP and his matches on Saturday Night. I agree about the match. It's really good, especially since Austin was injured midway through it.

I really liked Owen's commentary during the match. Obviously the promo is the most important part but Jake's tease to the DDT was good.

Vince's reaction to Pillman saying Bitch was great. Yeah this was pretty awkward.

I thought this was pretty fun. Probably the best Pitbull 2 match ever and Jericho looked good. Not as good as Francine though.

Tye Dye guy for sure. I met him in the parking lot at Mania and he's a cool guy.

Besides Toyota's botches and the fact the match went on too long, I liked most of it. Toyota and Kyoko continue to be the stars of this set but I can see why some people don't like Toyota. The Angle analogy is right on . As for the AJW vs JWP debate, based on this set, I like AJW more. Just a Better presentation and JWP reminds me too much of ROH.

Mongo's reaction to hitting Savage the first time was great. Fun match but I always liked the Savage/Flair matches. Heenan's chase was awesome and I don't understand why they did elaborate more on the Savage/Heenan stuff.

I remember when I first watched this on the WWE Rey set hating it. Thought it was too slow and just boring. Watching it now, I love it. Good introduction to Rey and Malenko's mat work is awesome. Agree that Dusty, Tenay and Tony are good putting over this match.

I don't know, I think Taka is alright in the New Japan setting. He's fast as hell and gets great air on his highspots in this match. The match was good but not overall exciting.

Typical WCW security taking a long ass time to help out Bischoff. Why didn't they just cut off Hall and Nash's mic when they talked after the powerbomb? Oh well, Great angle and leads to something even better.

I loved Sullivan's reaction to getting chopped by Benoit. It's like he got pinched by a bug or something. This is one of the few Benoit matches I can watch and have fun with it. This might be Dusty's best match calling performance ever.

This is one of the better Memphis angles of the time. As great as Lawler was as a babyface in Memphis, he's way better as a heel. The whole thing with the check was just a great dick move. Too bad it didn't last long.

I gotta disagree. To a Joshi novice like myself, JWP is much harder to watch. Maybe it's because I don't know who these women are or the stories but this just felt like a bunch of overkill. At the end of the match, not only did I not care about any of the four, I had trouble even remembering anything. And the way they do Irish Whips and drop kicks 90% of the match still bothers me.

Yeah this was pretty good. Hashimoto continues to be the MVP of Japan IMO. The Finish was a little weird though.

Is that Vince as the devil in the King of the Ring commercial? That was just awesome. I remember Lawler talking about this angle in his book. Warrior with the hat is funny.

I liked Nash saying "This show is about as Interesting as Marge Schott reading Mein kampf". This segment ruled and besides Bash at the beach, it's my favorite NWO angle.

I think I'm beginning to think the NJ Juniors matches not involving Liger aren't for me. This was ok but I didn't love it. The constant headlocks Benoit did for heat was a nice touch.

Good match but some of the head dropping just was ridiculous. Almost felt bad for Misawa after seeing some of them.
