[2000-01-22-ECCW-Insanity TV] Black Dragon vs Weed
Tim Evans replied to Loss's topic in January 2000
So there is a WEED in Canada and Memphis, that's nice. Black Dragon looks like a Ultimo Dragon clone and has a nice looking SSP. Very indie match and the random crowd shots were weird. I thought it might be because of certain bumps being banned on TV but they show the finish in full. Not very good but interesting to see. -
[2000-01-16-WXO-TV] Erik Watts & Zandig vs Tommy Rogers & Adam Pearce
Tim Evans replied to Loss's topic in January 2000
Stan Lane knowing who Zandig was blows my mind. This promotion reminds me of the old AWF promotion from the mid 90s with the fake crowd noise and good production values. Fun match with Zandig actually not looking too bad bumping and working the crowd. Tommy Rogers held this together pretty well. Weird seeing Pearce with hair. -
[2000-01-15-WWA Texas] Johnny Mantell vs Bronx Bomber Vinny
Tim Evans replied to Loss's topic in January 2000
So I didn't like this as much as you two but it was interesting to see. I didn't think you would see a crowd like this except for maybe the Carolinas and Kentucky around this time. It was nice to see. Mantell played the hero babyface well but Vinny was awful. Not as awful as the commentary though.Interesting match to see compared to the other indie stuff in 2000. -
Such a random match that I can't help but love. I had no idea Bobby wrestled after he was released from WCW. This actually wasn't too bad as Moch worked the leg and did some good heel stuff and Blaze sold well. This was like a WCW worldwide match in Japan. Fun match.

Yagi is so good in this. She might be my new favorite joshi wrestler. She works good with Asari and even Sasuke. I even liked the intergender stuff in this because it's not played for laughs or look incredibly fake like most intergender wrestling. All four were entertaining, even Tiger mask. Just a fun match in a month that has been disappointing. Can't believe this took place in Battlarts of all places.

Until the stupid run ins, this was shaping up to be one of the better indies matches of the year. Both guys were bumping big into the cage and Pearce was doing a good job as the mega heel riling up the crowd, The run in just kills it dead. Such a shame. Did like Dino's leg drop from that top of the cage. That had to hurt his tailbone.

AJ Styles doing Ric Flair ass baring spots is a sight to see. This was a fine match with Bill Behrens doing the heel chicken shit heel spots and the babyfaces kinda being boring. I remember the Martin heel turn and the timing between when he het rick with the chair and trash throwing is very WCW like.

The match was kinda short but they put a lot of action into it. Both guys take sick bumps and I liked how Tracy wouldn't touch the ground to count a pinfall after the lighttubes broke. The finish was awesome with the rocket launcher into the diamond cutter. I'm surprised Corp could pull that off. Tracy then cuts a promo after the heel turn that was longer than the match. Classic Smothers.

Spellbinder looks like a jacked up goth kid and it's hilarious. I'm not sure what Wolfie is going for here but it's unique I'll give him that. Fun match until the numerous ref bumps including Randy Hales going head first into the table.

They destroy that poor roof tossing Jaguar into it. I bet they never ran there again. Very workrate heavy type match. When it was Lopez vs Noble, it was good as they went all out in such a small indie. Jaguar reminds me of Ric Blade as he botches a lot of stuff. Weird seeing Noble doing his jung dragons gimmick.

The camera is not in the cage so it's kinda hard to see the action through the cage. I guess that's the new fan in me talking. When they get on scaffold, it keeps swinging which looks very dangerous. Blade does a sunset flip from the top of the cage which looked nice. Zandig interferes and hits pain the nuts. Crowd goes nuts for the finish and Blade doesn't screw up too much. A success in my book.

Koko in his High energy pants in 2000 is hilarious. Love him trash talking everyone in the ring and just slapping Ali right in the face. Other than that, this was a mess. Seven is really bad here whiffing right and left and just being awkward. Spellbinder pulls his old phantasio tricks in the beginning. I never get why Randy didn't go all the way with Ali as he was over and was good in the ring. He and Koko get elminated by going over the top rope which I guess counts. Doing the TBS finish is weak.

He has been in developmental since the FCW days along with Dawkins and never got better. I can see why he think's it's a failure.

If I remember right, Tiffany used to be a sorta protege of Lola's until she turned rudo. Tiffany was alright when she was younger but is pretty bad now. Lola wa like a lot of the other lucha ladies who wrestled for far too long and it got embarassing. This wasn't too bad and I was surprised Lola did a flip off the top rope. Finish was usual AAA BS with Tirantes.

I got flashbacks watching this match of when I used to watch NWA worldwide on the old America One website back in like 01. I remember Jeff Daniels and Dominique being a big deal with Tim Renesto. Also remember Shane Eden being a lunatic in a Roughouse Fargo type deal. The match was a mess where it started with southern comedy and then went really violent. Chris Champion looked like he went to a party dressed like Yoshi Kwan but came back as Chris Champion. Lots of blood and barbwire. That fireball was insane. Almost Picudo like.

When the most interesting thing about this match was heel Colorado Kid at ringside, you know the match is bad. Very 70's type match in 2000 which is just out of touch by Bert.

Thought this arena looked familiar as it was Arena Coliseo Guadlajara. After some sorta lackluster smaller apuesta matches earlier in the year. this was pretty good. Loved all the seconds of Silver Fox attacking Atlantis. Atlantis bleeds early on and we get the trading of the falls. Third fall was kinda weak with the rudo ref but then the big brawl breaks out and I liked the finish. Good match even though the result was never in doubt.

Villano III is wearing a Chicago white sox jersey for some reason. Lizmark Jr replaces him and this match is just blah. Nothing awful or anything just not really exciting. Villano's hit some nice dives but the Capos don't add much. Best thing about this was the motorcycle guy falling off the bike twic.

If you want a textbook example of how a rudo beatdown of tecnicos should be, this is the match to watch. The Infernales give poor Latin Lover a beating and he can't even make a comeback before Satanico makes him submit. Hector Garza is slowly turning into the Hector I know and love here but that's to come at a later date. Really good rudo beatdown.

The rudos hate each other even before the match starts. Especially Abismo and Shocker. Match isn't much but it's interesting that the AAA rudos are selling while the CMLL guys aren't selling anything for the AAA guys. Big brawl breaks out after the match including Negro Casas running out looking like he poured something over his head.
