  1. The NHL is indeed the least popular of the Big Four (NFL/NBA/MLB/NHL would be my ranking) but they still got a nice boost on their new TV deal and got back on ESPN, which is a big reason why it wasn't as popular here in the US as ESPN barely acknowledged hockey existed after they were no longer carrying games. So even though they don't pull NBA numbers in terms of viewers they probably still get pretty decent ad rates.
  2. Man XPW was such a wild story even at the time I remember how even at the time I couldn't believe this shit was actually happening.
  3. The funny thing is that in kayfabe all Bobby Heenan ever did was give Hulk a run for his money and even Andre couldn't win the title until he was managed by Ted DiBiase. He was a way better manager in a kayfabe sense in the AWA with Bockwinkel. Captain Lou is probably the best manager in WWF/E history with leading like 16 different tag champions over the course of like 30 years. Maybe Arnold Skaaland too since he managed Bruno and Bob Backlund.
  4. Truly WWE is using these shows to put smiles on people's faces!
  5. .ehhhh Pro Wrestling Only and all, but lets not pretend there are any clean hands in the Middle East. At best you're playing to finish second in the "who did the worst shit" Olympics.
  6. I mean, we're obviously just seeing ROH American Dragon in AEW having MOYTC's nearly every time. It wasn't a case of me expecting vast improvement leaving WWE, It's a case of knowing Bryan adapted to the limits in WWE by considering it a parody of wrestling (in his own words) and now that he is no longer in that environment I fully expected ROH AmDrag back.
  7. Also to be fair his promos stand out so much because he's one of the selected few allowed to not get scripted to death, he's still one of like 3 people in WWE who can legit get me interested in a match with their words.
  8. I always thought it was kind of unfair to hold that against promoters, since in the end the only one who didn't run out of money was Vince. Heyman's booking was legendary and it reshaped the entire business since it got the industry leaders to change what they were doing to match it. The whole Attitude Era was just ECW with a bigger budget.
  9. TBF I was still reeling from JBL putting Bix and his story over on Twitter. I'm almost certain JBL did one of those "butthurt WWE employee/contractor bashes the wrestling media" tweets at him at some point.
  10. Even if you throw out his entire Paul E. Dangerously run, his recent "advocate" run has made him HOF manager status for me. His promos and ability to draw interest in programs has him on my Mt. Rushmore of managers with Heenan, Cornette, and Hart
  11. I love that I know exactly what happened based on bubba's reaction to any Roman match.
  12. Bryan and Dave made it clear that whatever happens here, this is only the beginning of the Brock/Roman program. Heyman being the coach that goes to the other team and spills all the secrets could be a fun angle.
  13. Also I bet Zelina is glad she gave up her attempt to unionize so she could win a big match on a show paid for by the government that killed her father.
  14. Legit shocked they put over Woods, him losing in the finals after him lobbying so hard on social media to being back King of the Ring is such a WWE move (for the fabled HEAT), maybe MBS is a New Day fan?
  15. Yeah he was pushed as the top guy in NXT but they clearly never saw him as an important part of the main roster. They kept him in developmental way longer than needed and apparently only saw him as manager material.
  16. Taker as Pitbull's hype man in Saudi is not a thing I was expecting to see on my Twitter feed today, I tell you what.
  17. Punk doesn't even have to say anything. Just showing up to work so happy speaks volumes.
  18. I mean, it's not even that they are stupid. Vince is undoubtedly a smart guy who at one time knew his business and the way it was trendy better than everyone. The problem is he's in his 70s and can't possibly relate to current trends, nor does he surround himself with people who do. Like most record label execs are old AF, but they surround themselves with people in their 20s-302 who understand current trends and make sure their product still resonates with the kids.
  19. So in an interview with Fightful, Deonna Purazzo said she was talking to Scott D'Amore about having more women from Impact and AEW going through the Forbidden Door and mentioned Britt was having the same conversation with TK. So perhaps we'll finally see more of that with the TBS title opening more opportunities for more women's matches.
  20. I think I have a soft spot for Ton D'Angelo since his finisher is the same one (+the pinning combo) I gave my self-insert character in TNM when I was a kid.
  21. TBF they both are welcome to step on me, but I stand corrected! Maybe Vince is right about the similar name thing after all.
  22. Being startled by Ikamen Jiro while taking a pis has to be the most nightmarish thing ever.
  23. Also Priscilla is welcome to step on me any time. Long live our new giant Aussie queen.
  24. Jacy scorpioning on the floor was scary enough, but her catching Io' dive afterward wa even more terrifying. I know she was probably on auto pilot but either the ref or the docs probably should have grabbed her before that.
  25. Still don't know why Santos Escobar is toiling in NXT when he's everything Vince has wanted for the last, what, 15 years or so? A Hispanic star fluent in English and Spanish, who's also a great wrestler and a good looking dude.
