Because there's a very good chance he would be a star anywhere he went and even though they aren't hoarding talent anymore they are loathe to release someone like that. Also saw an Adam Cole interview where he mentioned his main roster discussions involved him changing his name and look, and that made him even less interested in signing with WWE. Their obsession with everyone having to be something they created and control even if it means throwing away an established name/character is such an underrated aspect of WWE's difficultly in creating stars. It's really hard for a new talent to become successful when their whole presentation just screams "artificially created for maximum corporate control".

I know he's firmly in the "beloved legend" phase of his career but Arn being a babyface just feels so unnatural. I need my Andersons to be evil bastards who will stomp a mudhole in your face if you cross them,
-
The problem is it will be hard for them to not come off as as discount Miz and Maryse if they go that route, even if I agree it sounds promising.

It really is pretty remarkable how pro wrestling went from only seeing homosexuality as something to get heel heat with to have several groups running entire cards devoted to people of all sexualities being open and honest about who they are. It's not perfect of course, but seeing it become more accepted than it's ever been in really a relatively short period of time is one of the really cool things that have happened.

Flair and Cena really came off as assholes toeing the WWE line that he wasn't good enough. I tend to agree with Jericho, the whole Boy George thing was classic WWE bullying though. From the less-than-subtle symbolism of coming out of a box dressed like a gay stereotype, to Undertaker (the guy famously upset that he hurt Hulk Hogan until he checked the tape and realized he got worked) just killing him with chairshots including one to the head with the upper part of the chair.

Haven't watched yet, but saw a clip on Twitter where Jim Mitchell tells the tale of Kanyon calling him to take the heat for the giant box of gay porn that tumbled while people were helping him move. That was an impressive display of improv skills to find out your (best?) friend is gay and immediately go along with whatever story he came up with without missing a beat.

I'm sure that was the intent of the character, but I doubt they were expecting to see it on Fox News to be used as spank bank fodder. WWE is normally pretty good at avoiding that stuff as seen by them purposefully ignoring the former occupant of the White House despite being BFFs with the boss.
-
Fox News did an article about how the character was WWE trying to own the libs by making a "woke" character to make fun of.so I'm sure they didn't want that kind of attention out there.
-
Beat them by like .01 too, lol. But yeah, the goalposts are somewhere past Jupiter at this point for the "AEW is a failure" brigade.
-
The best part is you know Marko would be 100% down for this.

I mean for all the "Cody is the HHH of AEW" talk, at least he was self aware enough to not put himself over the guy who's getting much better reactions than he is. That's 100% the opposite of what Hunter would have done in that case. Hell, he probably would have hit the Pedigree and taken five minutes to cover him for the pin because the other guy's last name is Black.
-
Normally I'd think Metalik would get the "you can work anywhere but AEW" release and hope he goes back to Mexico, but he could just hop to AAA and face AEW guys there.
-
This has been a real fun show so far.
-
Sting clearly is having as much fun in there as everyone else is working with him.
-
I could see them being a really fun heel act again like when Cody was doing his post WWE indy tour.

There really wasn't any way Pillman Jr was winning that one. Not only was this whole program just a way to reheat MJF, the way AEW has been booking their Young Lions is that they show a little more each time in losing until they break through with a big win.
-
They probably would have put Bryan over had Kenny not already lost to Christian. They're super protective of the champ and there wasn't any way they were going to have the champ lose twice relatively quickly like that. I still think a draw is what's Best for Business anyway so it works for me.
-
I thought it was smart to do a draw, and a 30 minute one at that. Everyone knows both guys are capable of going twice that long (and then some) but you put that shit on PPV and do mega business. Give the people a free sample on TV and have them pay for the main course. It still feels weird seeing a national wrestling company doing booking moves that make sense again.

Omega's matches everywhere he goes have been nothing short of spectacular so I don't really mind the wacky stuff.
-
If Bryan had any doubts he made the right choice, those should be squashed now. Never heard an opening bell get a pop like that.
-
Not fucking around, starting off with Danielson/Omega.
-
One thing that is getting tiresome already is how everyone has to mention NXT TWO POINT OH like 10 times a promo now. It's just so WWE to make branding your top priority but do it in such an obvious, non-natural, "how do you do fellow kids?" way.

It's like the Matrix glitched and somehow we got a second Scott Steiner in our timeline. I'm 100% on the BRON TRAIN.
-
Someone posted a pic taken by someone in the crowd that showed Bron was wearing what looked like his dad's "BITE ME" boots.
