  1. Also MJF not speaking any lies about Cincinnati.
  2. I think Lambert's act is good, gives them an avatar for the fans to rally against. Like how Paul E used to use the specter of the WWF as the always looming unseen villian.
  3. Hobbs' gear reminds me of the Nitro ring apron with the flames.
  4. The place is going to come unglued when Hook finally kills someone, and it's awesome.
  5. I'm so hyped for Suzuki/Mox that anything else that happens will be gravy.
  6. It always felt weird to me as a JCP fanboy that Cody clearly was trying to relive his dad's career but had an Anderson manage him without turning. Then again, Cody's made himself so unlikable recently (I heard that the ad for his reality show got booed in the building in Chicago) that Arn turning would probably get a massive babyface pop.
  7. Also I never got the vibe Cody was "the Boss", from the start it was always portrayed that the 4 VPs were on equal standing with only Tony above them.
  8. It really comes off like Cody's mentally distanced himself from wrestling at this point but seems to think that leaving entirely would make him look bad since he was one of the founders. So we get this weird Codyverse (I like that term) that is only tangentially connected to AEW. The only reference to him I can remember was Black saying he was gonna kick Dustin's head off like he did Cody.
  9. I know this makes me a horrible person but my first thought was "yeah I bet, Vince just ripped his heart out" when I saw the announcement.
  10. It's time to be a lonely warrior toooooonight One thing I love about AEW is that if you fantasy book any AEW person vs anyone in the world not working for WWE/CMLL there's good odds it might actually happen.
  11. This photo is fucking me up more than it should. That's some freaky shit right there.
  12. Oh, AAA still does those garbage match trios, don't get it wrong. They don't run a whole card of them anymore. In fact Kenny has been half kayfabe half shoot begging for a match with Vikingo for a while and it's probably going to be the main event of the next big show they have. With Bryan, he could go to AAA no problem and do a lot of fun matches with the really good young guys they have, but all the legends he really wants to work with are in CMLL.
  13. Honestly Corbin seems like a guy that WWE is the best place for him. I don't see him as the type that would want to work anywhere else either.
  14. Of course it wasn't, but that was something that made wrestling feel cool and with the times.
  15. Plus they have Rick's kid in the PC already and if he inherited any of the family genes for being awesome, that would be an awesome matchup.
  16. Not unless they want to bring someone in to be the physical manifestation of everything their fans hate about WWE.
  17. Also licensed music was such a huge part of what made wrestling seem cool in the 70s/80s. To this day when I hear "Sharp Dressed Man", "Hot Stuff" or Smooth Operator" my first thought is Jimmy Garvin, Eddie Gilbert, and Rick Rude. Hell, ECW pretty much built the whole promotion around it. Even WCW tried it as best as they could in a a corporate environment with their Nirvana and Pearl Jam knockoffs for DDP and Jericho.
  18. Yeah Dave was also mentioning he met him at a PWG show, and Ruby said in an interview she knew the song would be perfect but figured it would cost too much until Lars called her and suggested it himself.
  19. Dave said they tried to get "Final Countdown" and while not mentioning the dollar amount said it was way more than TK was willing to pay, while mentioning all the songs he did get to illustrate they must have asked for some insane amount.
  20. I could see him wanting to do something different since for as much as Vince loves him (and he clearly does since he keeps him around despite not checking the usual Vince Boxes). the only thing he seems to be allowed to do there is feud with Sami in between times they are using him as a heater for someone else.
  21. Hearing Dave mention he has "Ruby Soho" stuck in his head because he listened to it so much on WON last night gave me the mental image of Dave doing a deep Youtube dive of Rancid's catalog that makes me smile for some dumb reason. Also how stupid are Europe's management team asking for money well beyond even TK's music budget. When you have a dude who just gifts people theme songs as birthday gifts say "whoa, that's too rich for my blood", you know your asking price is too damn high.
  22. Yeah Jericho was always lauded for his promos and wacky skits like ARM-BAR and his hijinks with Ralphus, plus he was a beneficiary of the "we saw him on tapes we got from Japan" rub which always made someone a bigger deal to the 90s/00s internet crowd.
  23. I thought Punk looked better in terms of physical shape than he has in years (I didn't watch his UFC fights so maybe there). Toward the end of his WWE run he looked physically and mentally shot and while he obviously has some work to do to get back in to ring shape he seemed to be in much better physical shape than he's been in a while.
  24. Let's not forget he had to get used to having to wear those ridiculous lifts in WWE which caused him to botch a lot early on, and that made him an easy target for the "he can't work" crowd in the locker room.
  25. To be fair to Bruce (can't believe I'm saying that), his job is to deliver what Vince wants and there's zero chance he is going to see Adam Cole as any kind of serious main eventer. Suggesting him being a manager was probably his best option on the main roster that doesn't lead directly to becoming one of the geeks that chase the 24/7 champ around.
