In a weird way I could see that being true, as Vince does have a history of respecting people who stand up for themselves and/or tell him to F off. Like I'm sure he was pissed he had to pay the guy, but I'd 100% believe he'd also go "Goddamn! I like the balls on that guy!" afterwards.

It's amazing a company that is at times comically obsessed with PR as WWE seems to be OK with an episode of Dark Side of the Ring play out in real time under their watch. I suppose the most likely outcome is that they have a come-to-Jesus (pun not intended) moment with him and offer to help him, which will inevitably be seen as as an attack on his freedumbs. At that point he'd either quit or give them grounds to fire him, thereby solving the problem for WWE.

I expect there to be some kind of leaked news stating Drake is taking a leave of absence at some point, WWE when asked will give some sort of "we don't comment on personnel matters" answer, and let him sit at home until his contract runs out. I do wonder what the feeling among the (mostly POC) ref crew at NXT seeing all his antics, especially the times he's taken stances against things like BLM and teaching accurate Black history in schools. In any normally functioning company, that would be a hell of a HR issue there.

Also it seems like it kind of went under the radar that AEW is going to have a full crowd for Double or Nothing and will be going on the road again in July.

I thought the good outweighed the bad, and the bad wasn't *that* bad....maybe WWE has just lowered my expectations that much, who knows.

Per Dave the finish was an audible but the plan was to do a draw to get to a three way so it's not like the long term booking was changed.

It seems clear the Bucks think the way to get AEW fans to boo them is to lean into the "annoy the smart fans" aspect of it. YMMV if it works, but it seems that's the idea.

Gain 150 pounds and start affecting a black accent maybe?

I get what he's trying to do, but not only is AMERICA, FUCK YEAH a tone deaf babyface promo in 2021, Agogo is a million times cooler than neck tattoo geek Cody.

I didn't watch either, but from what I read they either implied and/or flat out said Savage only started having drug issues once he went to WCW, which is so laughable on it's face it's almost impressive.

There's some Alanis Morrissette level irony in the NWA finally getting a distribution source that they would in theory get money for at a time when they lost pretty much everything that people liked when it was free on YouTube.

Absolutely loaded show tonight, capped off with your captain and mine Yuji Nagata challenging for the IWGP US title on American TV. 2021 is wild, bubbas.

Indi is one of the best things in NXT right now. Her "lovestruck teen and mom keeping her away from a boy she doesn't approve of" dynamic with Candice is always great stuff.

I wonder what it will take for him to get to "we need to release Kurt so we don't have an Olympian OD on our watch" levels with this company. As much the people in charge may agree with him, dude is a walking PR embarrassment for them at this point.
-
Yeah, Lio seems like a dude better off not being anywhere near WWE for his own mental health if nothing else.

I found this interview fascinating. Not only is it slightly jarring to see Danhausen out of character, him talking about his journey from a go-nowhere generic indy guy to someone who managed to get a following is a great story. What he does may not be your cup of tea, but he's definitely a guy you want to root for and hope to succeed.

NXT was really good again, Swerve's crew looked good, and the continuing adventures of Ted DiBiase tormenting Cameron Grimes always cracks me up.

Has there been anyone with a more bizarre career path than Marco Corleone? Home grown WCW guy probably going to be steadily pushed before that company went down the drain, squandered by WWE after the buyout because "WCW guy", goes to Mexico and becomes a big star in CMLL nearly approaching "Konnan guesting in telenovelas" levels, then just kind of falls off the face of the planet.
-
That had to be Strangler Corleone himself that started the thread, wasn't it? I can't possibly believe anyone else on the planet would start a thread like this lol.

Being the booker/owner's son is usually the kiss of death, but it seemed Memphis is where he was used the best, Which is kind of funny since it's not like he was doing anything cutting edge there, but for some reason nowhere else wanted to book him as a s white meat babyface.

Jeff Jarrett was always an interesting case to me. It's not like he was particularly bad at any aspect of wrestling, but it seemed like he never was able to put it all together into something that clicked. I suppose his WCW run wasn't helped by him being one of Russo's favorites which resulted in the feeling like he was being shoehorned in position because the booker wanted him there instead of being there on merit.

This. It's been hard to believe this show and Smackdown are being made by the same company most weeks. One show has Roman doing some of the best work the company has seen in years (decades?) and the other has rehashed Papa Shango shit that somehow has people stanning for it because it's a cute blonde doing it.

Hope Humberto didn't get too badly hurt, if you weren't watching he did a sunset flip powerbomb on the floor and Sheamus appeared to land directly on his legs.

Yeah that's the one stickler in "Brian would have been top 5 in the biz if not for the accident" argument. Talent wise, no doubt, but as loyal as he seemed to be to those who were loyal to him,I don't think Montreal would have set well with him at all. Maybe Bret would have been able to talk him into staying like he talked Foley out of walking out, but it very much seems like he would have been pissed at the company and they would probably would not let him leave either.

When Ice T was on Austin's show it was amusing how similar their speech was, if you didn't know you'd think they grew up in the same area. Yeah, one of my big takeaways was wanting to give Brian Jr a hug. Lost his dad, Melanie was in no state to be a parent, and his stepdad being a giant piece of shit. At least Melanie seems to realize she was a horrible person and looks like she's wanting to make amends.
